Yes! I posted this in another thread.azazer said:My favorite things is wraith butcher. Auto blood hound those extra blood puddles. Invisible nurse's calling to spot those long heals. Keep em injured and off gens.
So how are you guys been using the sloppy butcher
I'm using Wraith with Sloppy Butcher, Deerstalker, Nurse's Calling, and switching between BBQ & Chilli or Bitter Murmur.
-
I'm very excited by this. Already trying some new stuff with the Wraith and having a lot of fun. I'm running Deerstalker, Sloppy Butcher, Nurse's Calling, trying BBQ & Chilli or Bitter Murmur. Addons are All Seeing and Swift Hunt.
Basically just dropping survivors and leaving them. No hooking until 2 are down. If you get in to the rhythm what ends up happening is survivors start leaving gens alone and are busy trying to unhook and heal.
The perks and addons keep them very visible. -
I'm really floored by some of this. It's as stupid as a survivor saying they'll report you for walking because you caught them. Or reporting you for using a Mori. The killer is able to drop survivors so that they can drop survivors. Like how is this a thing?
-
I wonder how often killers are accused of camping when they're being tailed by survivors or trying to defend the hook when it's immediately rushed.
-
The Alien Invader from the movie It Came Without Warning.
Egger's Mother from the movie The Final Terror.
Ida Smith from the movie Motel Hell.
Tallman from the movie Phantasm.
These are all horror characters that are from somewhat obscure, older horror movies. I think 1975-1985 is really the sweet spot of the genre.

I think I've finally started hitting my stride using the Doctor.
I'm running him with Overwhelming Presence, Overcharge, Distressing, and then switching between Ruin and Pop Goes The Weasel.
Ruin, which I've finally gotten, it's a mixed one. Either it persists all match and it's amazing or it gets destroyed right away.
I use his "Calm" addons to increase the terror radius further which I find really, really helpful since it helps so much in revealing survivors' positions.
Anyways, I'll keep playing I think. -
I'll echo the sentiment - the lobby times really, really suck right now. It's taking about 45 minutes just to play 2 games.
Pretty lengthy wait for survivors to join, you get three and everyone just waits on the last one to come in until eventually one or two drop out. Keep waiting. Keep waiting.
One of the reasons I got this game was because of the consistent number of players, it baffles me how it takes so damn long to play.
If the ranking system is causing this, in part, it needs to go. I can't see how there's any benefit to it if it's contributing to this. I just want to play. -
What exactly is supposed to be the incentive for killers that have 4 survivors pop in that are all carrying items that you know are just going to lead to you getting your ass handed to you?
If I see 2 of 4 survivors that are going to have me dealing with constant insta-heals why would I bother? Let alone that survivors can even constantly do this is pretty much bullshit anyways.
It's already not really fun playing as a killer. It's a chore. Why knowingly make it worse? -
Valuable feedback from all.
I'll have to experiment with some of these when I'm able.
I've got it in my mind that there's got to be some benefit to a lot of visibility perks. Maybe the upcoming Bitter Murmur with NC with BBQ with Deer Stalker with All Seeing. I'd assume with Wraith's speed he'd be able to keep a lot of pressure on survivors with them being exposed (potentially) so frequently.
If I can run him where he's at least okay, and I'm actually having fun, I'll be happy. Not going for rank 1 here. Just trying to enjoy the game for the time being. -
Think TydeTime mentioned if in a video. I think he said something along the lines of all killers are getting sped up a tiny bit since Tinkerer will no longer function the same.RSB said:@DasMurich said:

Ruin is a must on all killers, sadly
BBQ is good for points, knowing is survs are camping the hook and better map pressure (since you know where they might be
The fourth slot is optional, but I use MYC - it is quite effective on him, OR Tinkerer with the best decloaking addons.
With the Tinkerer perk rework coming though this could change I'd guess.
Aren't all killers getting a baseline buff?
To be honest, the Tinkerer rework will cripple Wraith even more, as he completly relies on his addons with Tinkerer to be somehow viable.
A baseline buff? What do you mean? The only ones that are getting buffed are Trapper and Hag (mid-chapter patch), then MAYBE the Wraith (but they do not even know when, so it will be a far date).
That's how I understood it, could be wrong.
Edit*
Here's the video, he starts talking about this around 8:30

Yes, I absolutely believe he should have the ability to perform an attack while cloaked. Definitely not the ability to down a survivor no matter what. But that first strike, yeah.Mr_Jay_Stark said:Am I the only person who believes he should be able to hit someone while cloaked? It's broken, because it can work, but shouldn't work, because it shouldn't even be an option, but the people that made the game disagree, but you're correct, because using an intended strategy is toxic, toxic is also cheating.No_Cluie_Louis said:The reason i called the thread camping fix is because i think it's broken. Yes it does work at getting a survivor out of play and it isn't against the 'rules' , but it shouldn't do and it shouldn't be. It's people who think its a good strat that ruin the game. Any game can be played in a toxic way, even board games. Its called cheating and its the easiest thing in the world. You can easily not get caught and it makes the game easier, but it's no fun for you or the other people playing. I play both roles in DBD but mostly killer and I've never been able to understand why anyone would want to play like that, and think the way you seem to think.
So basically camping needs to be removed because you realize, knowing better than the developers, it shouldn't have been a part of the game to begin with and is actually an outright cheat?
I think you need to find a different game. -

I had rare match today and landed 4/4, which was virtually handed to me. Got the first survivor on the hook and had 2 other survivors on my ass trying to get the one down, and they did, which resulted in the virtual instant death of that first one being hooked 3 times in quick succession. I never left the hook because the survivors would not leave. Their altruism got them killed, and pretty quickly. I got called a "camping #########" after the match.
I sometimes can't wrap my head around the level of entitlement I see from some survivors.
Fully understand where your're coming from as i actually play more killer than survivor and the same thing happens to me all the time. But even you can see as i can see form the way you said it that their over altruistic behaviour lead to their downfall, when really it should have just made the game slightly harder. If the nerf i suggested was in place, you would have got 2 kills but the other 2 could have time to get away and go back to generators. I think too many people think i'm a toxic survivor main and aren't thinking about the potential to this idea.
Why should I have only gotten 2 kills when survivors will not get out of my face? Why should any of these killers be neutered even further to compensate for a player's stupidity? Why? There is literally no reason for this!
This is blue ribbons for everyone. This participation trophies. Holy ****.
If a survivor, or victim, carelessly and arrogantly walks up to a supernaturally powered psychopathic butcher of humans then that person should die! Plain and simple!
I could possibly be coming off as a bit of an ass but I seriously can't wrap my head around it. -

So f*ing weird to me. That's literally like the 4th team member being voluntarily disposable because, why? Don't even need 4 survivors to win?
If I see it again I just won't touch them. I'm sure I will see it again though. -
Communication by voice should just be a standard feature. It is in Friday the 13th, it will be in Last Year.

I know, I don't think there should be a stain at all personally. The survivor has the terror radius, chase music, their own eyeballs. They know when the killer is close, when the killer is on them, they should be required to keep an eye on them.Jack11803 said:Why then do the survivors not get a stain of their own when they're sneaking around? I mean it would stand to reason that if the killer produces and indicator for the benefit of a survivor, then they ought to produce one for the benefit of the killer.
Survivors l, especially SWF, can delay the killer too long, and are too strong. But the logic, of “this side has it, the other should have it too”, makes no sense, especially because it’s an asymmetrical game.
I get the asymmetrical part and no, "they have it so I should" isn't how that's supposed to work of course. You're correct on that point.
But how do you balance between a killer and 4 survivors that are all given yet another crutch via the red stain? It's a predictive benefit given to survivors on top of obscenely high pallet numbers and near infinite looping abilities.
Maybe it could be a simple perk, you see it or you don't, if you want to see it then give up something else. -
They ought to require survivors to complete a complicated skill check to get someone off of a hook.
Or rather than the OP's suggestion, why not radically speed up the time it takes to be sacrificed for each additional survivor within a certain distance. Might encourage survivors to get the **** away.
How many times have you hooked a survivor knowing that there are 2 others sneaking around, waiting for you to turn your back for 2 seconds. They just sit there, waiting by the.....wait, wait.....do....do survivors camp? -
Yeah, that's interesting. Not every one seems to find it worth while to compare the 2 big asymmetrical horrors but Friday the 13th has no "red stain" and a good counselor can kite Jason for a considerable amount of time.Master said:@RATT said:

What exactly is the purpose of "the red stain"?The purpose of the Red Stain is to create a more challenging and fair chase. Let's pretend the Red Stain doesn't exist for a second. If you're a survivor and you're being chased by a killer, and the options you have to lose the killer are vaulting, and looping, with an occasional juke-- you might as well kiss a fair chance at surviving goodbye. Looping in jungle gyms would be difficult if you couldn't see what corner the killer is coming from considering the tight corners. You would die fairly quick.
Now with the Red Stain, you're able to predict what side a killer is going to come from, the Red Stain creates the option for a better, more challenging, chase--- as well as opening an option for various mind game strategies to improve your gameplay.
Though I'm not sure if the Red Stain is intentionally meant to leak through walls, and bend hard around corners. So.... RIP.
In my opinion 3rd person should be enough already. But well im just one of these killer mains who chases survivors in circles because they know where I am 100% of the time

I can't see that the red stain is necessary. The more I'm learning about Dead by Daylight I can't help but get a sense that survivors are a bit coddled.
Why then do the survivors not get a stain of their own when they're sneaking around? I mean it would stand to reason that if the killer produces and indicator for the benefit of a survivor, then they ought to produce one for the benefit of the killer.

I've been working on the Doctor, have him up to level 40 and thought he'd have a good gen suppression effect with Madness, Overcharge? (the gen one), and then Pop Goes The Weasel.
So, once I got Overcharge to tier 3 I started running the Clown for PGTW. I'm starting to think using the clown would be better. I really like him too, very impressed with his design (visual and audio).
So I might try the Clown with gens in mind but would also be curious about a slugger build utilizing Claurophobia. Just run around like a crazy person downing everyone.

There's a lot of informative suggestions in here but I've gotta say I pretty disagree with most of it. Not to offend but I just don't.Jack11803 said: Also, saying that it’s problems are fixed by perks is even worse
But this (above) caught my eye.
There's zero reason it should matter to a killer if they're up against SWF or not and it should be of zero consequence to survivor mains how they come in to any trial.
I think the problem is just the core mechanics plain and simple and it isn't something that can be perked over. Perks should be just that, a perk.

What exactly is the purpose of "the red stain"?
-
I might have to take you up on that advice even though Nurse isn't exactly who I want to use.
As far as using Hex: Ruin, being newer, I'm torn between everyone saying it's A. Essential, and B. It frequently gets destroyed immediately.
So lame.
First game this morning the 4th generator was repaired as I hooked my first survivor. It's beyond absurd.
The one survivor I had a shot at taking out was limping, and right before I struck him, he sprint burst through the exit.
So maybe Nurse would have come in handy there.
The unhooking though, FFS, this game - in regard to "killers" - it's a f*ing joke. Hit a survivor attempting an unhook, they get the one down before you finishing wiping off your stupid weapon because that's important to killers I guess. You can't take them down, Borrowed Time? The one just freed insta-heals, they both Sprint Burst off. Then you get to listen to their "camper" bullshit at the end of the match.
*I just did a lot of deleting. I'll spare everyone from the mega rant about what horror is supposed to be. These devs are clueless. -

This game can be very frustrating for new killers, so to tip the scales in your favor you will need multiple teachables perks from different killer and try to get a solid build.
Anti gen rush perks are the priority:
Hex: Ruin (Hag perk), Overcharge (Doc perk), Pop Goes the weasel (Clown perk), Huntress Lullaby (Huntress perk)Spotter perks, to help you find them faster:
BBQ (Leatherface perk), Nurse calling ( Nurse perk)As a last resource you can equip Noed which is a non teachable perk and easy to get and Make your choice (Piggy) can be helpful with fast killers like Billy or Nurse.
The sad part:
There's one part of the game you can't counter and it's multiple DS (Decisive strikes). It's the most op perk survivors have and there's nothing you can do about multiple people using it other than equip Enduring (Billy) and still see how they go away. Many of us are waiting for a heavy nerf to this perk.
This is another issue IMO (and I don't know how relative it is for survivors), the perk options. You have a killer you want to play and other you're not really interested in. We're forced to invest in killers we might not be interested in developing just to get their perks and then hope they show up in the blood web of who we do want to use. We have to grind through a desperately unenjoyable experience to try and eventually reach a point where it's enjoyable. I fear it won't be enjoyable even then, only less frustrating.
Still holding out but if I don't see some significant buffing to killers before Hide or Die and Last Year roll out I just won't bother with DbD. Every 0/4 match I have juggling gen suppression with the 1 survivor I mange to hang on hook for 10 seconds is just getting too frustrating too quick.
-
The biggest problem in my opinion is the time it takes to repair generators vs the time it takes to kill survivors.
The time required should be equal.
80 seconds on a gen, 5 gens for 4 survivors is 160 seconds (multiple survivors working multiple gens). Should take take no more than 160 seconds total time on hooks to off all survivors, or 40 seconds per survivor.
The time required to accomplish the core objectives are grossly imbalanced.
Killers need a huge boost. -
These aren't bad ideas. The speed issues are a real problem with Wraith also. Cloak/uncloak time really sucks on top of pallets and windows on top of Sprint Burst.
-
I got an email from support, they said to make sure my Steam overlay was enabled..... FFS
Yes, the overlay is enabled. Hold on while I make sure the power is on... -
I'll hang in there.
I've abandoned all hope in Friday. Fingers crossed that Hide or Die and Last Year do the horror genre justice.
Thing about Dead by Daylight is it works. It functions. It's pretty well polished and they've got a roster of interesting, original killers. Behaviour does deserve credit, especially considering the competition, it just needs that terror and tension in the game. It needs survivors thinking, "I should be doubly sure there's no monsters around when I attempt to unhook my friend or I will surely die!"
Time will tell I guess. -
What kind of Predator-esque ability would suit him? He's obviously inspired by it with the whole cloaking ability, tracking perks, a skull and spine for a weapon.
Maybe decoy setting? Like the Doc has hallucinations pop up everywhere that assist him in locating survivors maybe something similar for the Wraith?
In Predators there's a scene where Danny Trejo's corpse is propped up and calling for help. Maybe the Wraith can have a skill like - when a counselor is put in to a dying state a duplicate decoy survivor spawns else where, the decoy doesn't disappear until healed? Or maybe hook a false survivor that notifies survivors a teammate has been hooked and they stay there until taken down? -
Also, I am struggling to understand why killers perks and addons seem to come at the cost of something else. Why are killers constantly penalized when they use any of these. Especially with addons and Hex perks.
Gain X but tremendously increase time to Y.
Do survivors perks and addons come with risk, or at an expense? I've looked at addons and I don't see it. -
Several good points, good insight, some good advice.
I honestly have zero desire to play as a survivor and was really ecstatic when I saw that it wouldn't be required. I don't care to be on the side of the experience and absolutely hate the way they're either enabled, or encouraged, to play.
What a slap in the face to horror.
I'll stick around, try and improve my game, but if the next big step the game makes isn't reasonably focused on making the killers actual killers I'll walk away.
I backed Hide or Die and the beta will be available to me in August, hopefully they will have done a better job nailing the experience.
I wonder if the movies that inspired games like this played out like these trials, if the developers Would have even been fans of the genre. -
I don't have experience pre 2.0 beyond a handful or hours, so no basis to compare the current rate we earn blood points.
It does feel pretty measly.
But I am only playing as a Killer and the more I research how to play, and effective builds, the more I see that pretty much any killer needs a couple of their own perks in tandem with a perk from 2 other killers to be really effective. The perks, at low levels, feel pretty useless as survivors are a nightmare to deal with at times.
This, admittedly, probably skews my perception.
Maybe I'm mismanaging my blood points, focusing on learning a killer while I feed them to another to unlock their perks?
Maybe I am overestimating how effective top level perks will be once I have them and being impatient?
Maybe I shouldn't worry too much about it because survivors are too much of a pain in the ass anyways, and there's no perk that can stop 3 gens from being started mere seconds apart 2 minutes after a match starts. -
Haven't attempted this fix, really want to avoid it.
Still have heard nothing back yet. I literally am trying to give them my money, you think they'd be on top of it. -
Why not a perk that stacks a wonderfully detrimental effect against the survivors for every totem they dismantle? If you're using a Hex based build they'd have to choose between leaving them alone or removing them.
-
I think part of the issue is they stand out like a sore thumb. Too easy to spot.
-
The opening cinematic when you start the game isn't what we're playing. 4/4 escaping should be rare, what ever happened to the idea of "the final girl"?fcc2014 said:It is still a horror survival game and 4 vs 1. Have you seen horror movies not everyone gets out nor should they.

I think the survivors should have a stamina pool that they really need to be mindful of. Put broken glass in windows to discourage constant looping by way of staggered damage over time. Killer should be able to break pallets before they're dropped while they scout.fcc2014 said:I agree Killers should speed up the longer the chase goes, the looping is ridiculous. Maybe generators could actually require parts to be repaired. Strip two parts from generators to repair one. Get spark plugs from Gen A and fuses from Gen B in order to fix Gen C. Would just add some steps to repairs and by default, time.newduls said:The issues with killers is not how powerful, simple how the time to chase vs the time to complete gens is currently balanced.

Yes. I'm saying that DbD is not F13, yet has a defensive mechanic identical to F13. What is the point? No killer in DbD can instantly kill a survivor. I'm saying DS is not necessary in DbD. Even with a Mori you still have to put them on the ground and in that situation DS is pointless anyways.ThePloopz said:
You say this isn’t Friday the 13th yet you literally just compared it to Friday the the 13th. Jason is a meme in that game. Killers who haven’t played F13 have no idea what true bullying is like.DasMurich said:

F13 has Pocket Knives. If you're a counselor and Jason grabs you, you're dead. A pocket knife is a counselor's "get out of jail free" card so to speak. You stab Jason in the neck and he drops you. But that's the point. If he grabs ahold of you, you are going to die. It doesn't matter what's been accomplished, what state you're in, how long the match has been going, what perks you have. Jason will grab you by throat and crush your skull against the wall.
Seondly - These have to actually be found though, you cannot start the game with one in your inventory.
In DbD a killer has to strike a survivor 2 times, carry them, hook them, almost certainly they'll do this 3 times to kill 1 survivor.
I just don't see the necessity for DS. This game isn't Friday the 13th.
2 counselors in F13 are never an issue if you know what you're doing.
However! I have about a year in Friday the 13th and have switched to DbD because I can absolutely say that F13 is broken beyond belief and a lost cause at this point, and yes, against a group of seasoned counselors I've seen Jason players get beaten for more than 10 minutes. It's just so wrong. -

Still very new to the game and there's some things I can't understand that, really, are needlessly frustrating. How did the game end up in this current state?
1. Why can the survivors run for what seems like an eternity? Do they not have a stamina pool that runs out, punishing them for not using it strategically? Or do they, and it just doesn't matter?
The killers all need to be faster.
2. Why are the killers slowed by everything they do? I think I understand the logic, so that things aren't so overly difficult for survivors, but the killers are being punished by their own actions just for taking them. It's like a survivor using speed boost, you hit them, and not only do they take off like the Road Runner but you just stand there like a dope wiping off your weapon!
Again, the killers all need to be faster.
I don't know, I guess these areas are what comes to mind for me being new, more than anything. There's so much I see that I'm just thinking, "Where's the horror?" The game feels, too often, more like it's an evil killer trying to deal with bully, trolling, OP humans.
There's just some basic things that every killer should be able to deal with in a way that puts some real pressure on survivors so they know that of they aren't trying to survive, they will die.
The game opens with a cinematic that in my opinion doesn't represent the actual experience in the slightest. -
Agreed. I tried him for a few matches yesterday and could really not identify what exactly the point of the cloud was.
