  • These RNG based challenges wouldn't be so bad if the simple condition of "do it in one trial" was removed. They would just take a longer time than the rest of the challenges. I've recently been trying my best to stay positive towards BHVR, but these Tome 4 challenges just don't seem fair.

  • To be totally honest, none of these challenges would be as bad as they are if they just removed the "do in one trial" condition. They would just be time consuming and honestly that seems a better way to do this rather than make us tear out our hair trying over and over again.

  • I somehow managed to do it my first try. Once I spawned in I was running for every chest spawn I knew. Got lucky and found two in the killer shack and a final third one on the other side of the map. Got to loot it while the Demogorgan ate my team.

It's not too hard, especially compared to later challenges.

  • I would consider it likely that he'll be one of the killers receiving lore within the Archives. While funworld owns the mask and therefore the appearance shown in-game, I do believe the character of Danny Johnson and his story belongs to BHVR and therefore can be expanded on by them.

    I could be wrong though.

  • We can make as many petitions concerning licensed characters as we want on the Dead By Daylight forums, but unfortunately it's always up to the licensed holders, not BHVR. (in this case, Valve.)

We might have better luck asking Valve to approach BHVR on the matter, rather than asking BHVR to approach the silent juggernaut Valve on the matter.

But then again, Valve doesn't do anything anymore no matter how much anyone asks.. so I really don't know. I think we might just be screwed concerning Valve properties.

  • Yes! As far as I'm aware, the event currency earned in the Rift will be spendable on any two Halloween Cosmetics from last year and this year!

They'll also be on sale, and therefore cost less Auric cells to aquire if you choose to spend your event currency on this year's amazing cosmetics!

It's not just you, I feel the same way. They try their best to point out how dedicated their players are, say they want to reward us for spending time in the game, but when it comes to a quests mechanic they throw in a Battlepass, putting all the valuable/interesting things behind a paywall. Yes, it's 10$, I have spent a lot of money on the game already though, and asking for more is the slap in the face. I get you can make the Auric cells back but it's not the point. A Battlepass didn't need to find its way to Dead by daylight, and these new cosmetics could have been integrated normally with the store we already have. If we needed to pay? Fine, I'd rather the individual items be put in the store rather all of them behind 1000 Auric Cells. YES, It's worth it, that's the POINT. They WANT you to buy it, that's why they locked it all up behind the currency. I don't understand why the people who support are getting so worked up with backlash about it, micro transactions have always been something people disliked, and we don't need to be enabling it. I was looking forward to doing quests for cosmetics that I actually wanted, not paying for them.

I just wanted to say, that as far as I know, it was never ever said that the Archive's challenges would reward cosmetic items besides Charms. (It does reward charms by the way)

  • The Nurse nerf is extremely unexpected, not unnecessary. I for one find it a welcome change to her fairly strong base kit.

Plus, the 3 second blink cool down starts at the beginning of her fatigue rather than after it, so Nurse will already have a blink ready by the time she's done with her original cool down, the fatigue of blink pain.

I also wouldn't consider Spirit the strongest killer. If anything, I'd say these changes now tie the two in overall strength.

  • It's very unlikely that the Daily Ritual system will be scrapped. Considering past Dev streams and ideas, it might actually be improved in future updates.

The difference between Daily Rituals and Archive challenges is the total payout of Bloodpoints and the replay focus of Daily Rituals. While each Tome can only be completed once for fancy rewards, Dailies will continue until the end of time for your Bloodpoints needs and wants.

  • In my general opinion, having early ownership of the skin before it hits the main store is a alright enough compromise.

To say "Screw you" to new players and completely block them from earning a cosmetic because they weren't around at the time would hinder the game's reputation far more than it's toxic community and large amount of expensive DLC already does.

  • To answer your question, it's unlikely that you are the only person who feels "slapped" by the Rift. However I would feel confident saying you are within a small group of overall Dead By Daylight players.

I for one, find the Rift (and Archives) a nice and simple addition to the game for veteran players that have everything unlocked and can now look forward to putting their time and effort towards something more than just endlessly grinding out add-ons and offerings.

As for the terrible monetization scheme you fear will over take the paid game market because of Dead By Daylight's design choice, I'd like to say I'd feel much better seeing this sorta system be used in other games than any other system, or even no system at all. It's quite nice that you can pay for the first ever battle pass and then never have to pay again as long as you correctly manage your Auric cells gained from the completion of every rift every mid chapter patch. The way the Devs handled this is fair and rewarding for the player base. You get more back then you pay for.

Also, just to be a bore and repeat everyone else, the premium track rift is completely optional. You are not forced to pay it in any way.

  • @Jed_Olsen said:

I was excited until I seen the price. Tut tut, this is a paid game, greedy greedy bhvr. Have we not given you enough?

I was wrong about the price. It's $10 like most other battle passes featured in games.

  • Cross platform play is a Touchy subject, especially for Dead By Daylight. The different platforms all have their ups and downs concerning regular gameplay. To mix and match them together would be hectic to say the least.

But to answer your question, the Devs have shown interest in Crossplay throughout their streams and surveys... However they seem to have it marked as a low priority objective. If it is to ever happen, don't expect it to happen any time soon.

  • One of my biggest issues for Alien being in Dead By Daylight is simply a cosmetic detail to the creature: It's tail.

In most iterations of the Xenomorph Alien we see it has a long boney tail with a spiked tip often used to disembowel or slice it's prey. The way Dead By Daylight works, I can see it's tail causing quite a few issues for Animation, corner turning, mind gaming and so on.

Now of course there are creative ways to fix such a cosmetic issue, but with the tail being such a known part of the terrifying Xenomorph, it's hard to imagine it not having one, or having it in a way that doesn't match the Xenomorph the way we know it.

ah okep ! thank you for the explanation ! Do you mean that for example some challenge will require you to play a certain survivor ? Because i know i saw one with Trapper. Maybe the challenges will depends on each players and the DLC they own as it would be stupid to ask them to mori a survivor with Freddy if they don't have the DLC to do so.

Also you talked about Charms , do we know yet what they are ?

As far as I understand it, each series of Challenges will be tied specifically to a character. So of you want lore or and rewards for Claudette, you must play Claudette. Same should go for Killers considering their different powers. If any lore is to be made for Freddy (Doubtful), you'd have to play Freddy to obtain it.

Charms when found in the files of the game at the beginning of the year, were cosmetic items related to the Archives. You unlocked them for doing specifically difficult challenges. For Survivors, they took the shape of objects that hanged off their waist. For killers, they took the shape of objects that hanged off of Hooks. This might have changed between then and now however.

  • It's extremely doubtful considering that Hillbilly already has a cool down variable to his chainsaw alongside plenty of counterplay.

Concerning the Chainsaw add-ons update, I think it's safe to say no base kits will be nerfed.

  • @Adeloo said:

wait so you mean the Archives are free and reward lore but not BP ?

Is there a discussion that clearly state what are the Archives and what is the Pass because it's really confusing.

I can't point you to a discussion that clearly states the rules and intents of the Archives and Rifts, but I can try my best to explain them to you.

The Archives will be a series of Challenges related to specific in-game characters that when completed will reward a variety of goodies such as Lore cinematics, Bloodpoints, Iridescent Shards, and a new cosmetic item known as Charms. Presumably the harder the challenge, the better the reward.

The Rift will be a two sided rail track that offers rewards such as Bloodpoints, Iridescent Shards, and cosmetics for Player play time and level. That would be the free side of the tracks. It lasts a limited season.

The paid side will require money to access and will also last for a limited season. As far as we know It's rewards will be better cosmetics than those found in the Free Track's rewards. We'll be able to see all of this for ourselves tomorrow on the PC PTB.

  • I'm not gonna bother checking if this has already been said, but the changes aren't out and creating post after post on the forums isn't going to give the Devs the valuable feedback they seek with the PTB.

If you want to prove Nurse will be terrible with these changes, please play the PTB and prove your point with feedback after experience. A rushed opinion does not provide the Team with a choice, just less feedback and forum clutter.

  • I'm not gonna bother checking if someone already said this, but Legion, Doctor, Pig, Myers, Hillbilly, and Leatherface were all mentioned by the Devs as their next most likely intended targets for add-on adjustments after Nurse.

Of course this doesn't mean they won't adjust spirit in some way between now and then, but it's simply unlikely considering their stated views.

  • @Mew said:

Im very exciter for everything coming, im just really hoping the rift isnt too expensive. Ill be sad if it is :/

According to leaks, everyone who plays the PTB will receive 2000 Auric cells (PTB only) to try out the Rift. If that translates to Live Servers as assumed, it puts the price for the Paid Rift Track at $20.

  • I think I'd lose it. In everyday life the thread of sanity is already stretched thin as is. To wake up in a never ending nightmare where life is torture and death isn't ever an escape would be like taking scissors to that very string of sanity and making sure there's nothing left to tape back together. Knowledge of the game wouldn't help and it would probably take one painful sacrifice at the hands of the entity for me to break like a twig and be reduced to a husk. I wouldn't have the hope to feed it, nor the will to serve it. Honestly I don't think I'd make a good Killer or a Survivor. I'd quickly become one of the many lost souls that float in the void. But with that all said, the Entity probably wouldn't choose me if it has the power to sense our potential, much like it sensed Rin's potential over her fathers.

  • 02wklc80ghg21~2.jpg

I was ready for a fuss.

  • Also, I'm no expert on these forums. I probably didn't put this in the right place.

  • I try to rotate my killer, but Spirit will always be my main. Spirit body pillow when?

  • The Devs can't get too close to the original Ghostface design from Scream, as that can bring legal issues to the game. They have the license for the mask, not that complete outfit or character.

  • A while back, there was a post about Dying Light needing change because it was common thought that the perks was too focused on tunneling among the team. Are there still plans to do that or do you just not care anymore?

  • @Maximus7 said:

Without the pause, there's no real downside to hitting a good skill check. And the strength of the perk assumes survivors can't hit great ones.

Ruin might need a slight buff tbh, certainly doesn't need the pause on progression removed.

    @Tzeentchling9 said:

Sure, if we increase the regression to compensate.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Ruin is certainly in no need of a buff, and tbh, it's in no need of a nerf. The halt is just an unspecified mechanic that I wanted to put a bit of attention on. Remember that it's not stated in the Perks description and seems to be a last over mechanic from the similar halt on progression that takes place when a skill check is failed on a gen with no ruin.

It's a good point that the perk might become useless without the halt, but then maybe an increase in regression is a good idea. The halt is the most annoying and unfun aspect of ruin and I would love to see it go.

  • I'm just gonna go back to the main game and Play weak killers while every streamer and their mother is on the PTB. Sounds a lot more fun then trying to play the New killer any longer.

I've been playing PTB since release.. Game after game trying to learn the Killer and have some form of fun. Instead I found possibly the most unfun and frustrating games I've ever played. I've literally had more fun as and against Freddy then as and against this new killer.

So you've played the PTB for all of two hours and haven't already learned everything there is to know about the Killer? Who could have guessed?!

With each game being 10 or less minutes long, I've gotten enough to learn the Killer's power is beyond weak. At least at rank 5 anyway. The high rank survivors are dominating the New Killer. I suppose low rank is probably having an easier time.

Absolutely Pathetic. I just can't believe that after the Clown and Spirit, the devs would "grace" us with a Killer worse then [BAD WORD] Freddy. The power is absolutely pathetic and useless. It does nothing to help in a chase and does worse then the Pig's traps at slowing the game. I wish the Devs would learn that giving Survivors a million ways to counter a ability is not the appropriate way to make the game "fun" for both sides. This has been nothing but a [BAD WORD] disappointment. How the hell do you mess up such a concept so [BAD WORD] badly?
Why can't people be graceful for what they receive? BHVR doesn't have to do anything, ya know?
Be graceful? For a steaming pile of ######### that we're probably gonna have to pay for? Dude no. Support them for this and watch just how bad every new killer is gonna be.
  • Orion said:

  • Ur a noob then, sorry to say that. Your probably the sort of person who can't control spirit and keeps crying that she is weak. Git gud, honestly people like you are making the community sick... [BAD WORD] hell, not even 24 hours over and we have to read this ######### already, disgusting and mental
I got to Rank 1 with the Spirit. I think she's an excellent killer and one of the finest additions to the game. The new Killer on the other hand.. Is a complete joke. Just see for yourself and download the PTB.

It's amazing that you think the spirit is a bad killer. She is one of the best in skilled hands and can mindgame like crazy. The spirit is just a high skill ceiling killer.

The new killer has the potential to be broken and it's actually going to be a detriment to Solo players who want to try and work together, since it can chain shots. All you need to do is throw on "sloppy butcher" and people are going to be in the healing state for quite a long time since it can basically free shot you in the power.

I didn't say the Spirit was bad. The Spirit is my favorite killer in the game. I've got to rank 1 for the first time with her. I said Clown and Spirit were so good, that getting a Killer that sucks was a shocker. I felt that the Devs were actually doing good for once.. Until today.

As for the New Killer, no. That's not how that works. The healing, even with sloppy butcher is so quick that I don't get time to find another target before the bleed out bar is already gone and a gen is popping. It's so weak it's not even funny.

Instead of waiting for Discussions on the forums, go play the PTB and see for yourself.

They've been out for what.. 2 hours? and people are already crying both OP and NEW WEAKEST KILLER.

Y'all are wild. Maybe take some time to actually play them/learn how to use the power properly (and how to counter it) before crying out for buffs/nerfs sigh

I've been playing since release of PTB. Game after Game. All I've learned is that not using the Power at all helps me get more kills then when I do use it.  it's too weak in it's current state. It aids survivors more then it aids killers.
  • This happens every chapter lol
Usually I enjoy every chapter. But this time the Killer is just plain weak. Their power does not work, it tries to, it really does, but it fails so horribly.
  • TheBean said:

haha.. plays a couple matches during the PTB and already crying.

Sorry killers... Like the OP said...

It doesn't automated the process of killing. You can't set it and forget it... You actually need to play the game to win.

I don't expect a power to win for me. I do expect, however, that it will aid my game. Instead, this power hinders the Killer and helps the Survivors. It's absolute dog #########. I can't believe it made it past testing.
  • To add on to that, the Killer is slow. God it feels like the Hag walks faster. I'm so goddamn done. I got so hyped over this, helped spread the word on other platforms and keep people informed only to receive this steaming pile of #########.
  • nah, what they need instead is it to be way harder to rank up with killer. Right now it's far too easy and you're essentially guaranteed a pip. If it was harder then less killers would be a rank one that don't need to be. No offence but if you're struggling that much with hag, you probably belong more in the purple ranks. It would also solve the ridiculous que times

I'm having difficult with Hag because I don't play her often enough to be a good player at Rank 1 play. While I can play a mean Myers or an actually good Wraith, I can't take that skill and put it on a character who's completely different. I would prefer to be in Low rank play for her but because of my Wraith play during the Halloween event, I'm rank 1 and stuck with only being able to play a few characters.
  • This idea of mine doesn't have to be exact. I do like the idea of having killers rank up at a slower pase then your main. I simply want something because getting high rank a few days after each reset curb stomps my ability to have any fun as Killer. I'd try survivor if it wasn't the most boring side of the game. Lately I've been maining spirit with mixed results. I'd appreciate being able to practice her at lower ranks. Getting rekt and then insulted after every game just sorta sucks. More so now that I've been prestiging Killers for achievements and cosmetics.
  • For the Community to Answer: Would players want that?
