The problem is if this guy actually only played 3 times in a year why is he getting survivors like that? He shouldn't be outmatched so badly if he rarely plays.

Dbd's matchmaking has never been balanced and never will be balanced. I'm at the bottom of Ash rank and when I saw that the survivors were Red, Gold, and Silver rank, it honestly didn't even phase me. If you play Dbd long enough, you learn to just accept it.

So, I don't know if it matters or something, but everyone is saying to run certain Killers or builds, but that seems counter-intuitive if you're trying to adept Freddy.

I'm getting the impression from most of the advice given that the Adepts aren't worth the trouble.

It helps to engage a lil, taking on teams that stomp you will make you a better player overall you can get a good idea of what good looper might do and how to counter it next time.

Once it starts to drag out though I usually break walls, kick any pallets, repeatedly snuff boons, spam my power for points, till the last gen pops then go open the doors myself.

Also I never care about pips its completely meaningless and people get to obsessed over it.

I understand that taking on higher skill teams will help you improve. Before I took a hiatus from Dbd I got to rank 4 (barely Red rank) by sucking up the horrendous matchmaking and doing my best. In this specific case, I was able to get several downs, I just couldn't secure hooks.

I could be assuming this, but I think its the tediousness with which the game was dragged out by the survivors morso than the loss that lead to this post.

Its very typical of players to just stop doing gens at one gen left when they completely outclass a killer player and farm for points. Sure you can farm with them but after you are maxed out on chase points its really just a waste of time.

After a while it can get tedious.

In those situations as survivor I would just smash out the last gen and leave.

I don't think the OP is looking for easy games, they are looking for how to counter coordinated survivors with boons, the phrase "git gud" is kinda useless because it obvious and offers no tangible help.

To the OP, the counter to this is a hard camp and tunnel. Body blocking should get you free hits and if they are all injured then they can't block very effectively. I'd say next time snuff the boon target the weakest link and then spread damage. If you get one on hook hard camp that person to death.

Teams like this often get so tilted by camping they make terrible plays and all end up dying.

If its not working then disengage and ignore them while you break stuff, they'll eventually get bored with your non participation and leave. Then ignore any post game chat players like this are often the saltiest win or loss and will tantrum at you no matter what happens in game.

This is actually a helpful response, thank you. In that particular match, I couldn't find a noticeable weak link to tunnel and face camp. I think next time that it's obvious I'm being trolled and farmed, I'll just set down my controller, go do something else for like 10 or 15 minutes, and take the de-pip.

  • @R2k said:

Without any salt - git gud. U can't expect easy games if u play few times a year.

And don't come into games with mindset where u have to win 100% of your games. It doesn't happen. Sometimes u just lose and it's completely fine.

I mention that I haven't played killer in a year to explain that I'm rusty and out of the loop with what are common builds. When I last played killer, most people ran Prove Thyself and just tried to rush gens as fast as possible. I'm not expecting to win every time, because that's not how player vs player games work. I wanted to know what I should do to counter this strat if I come across it again.

I’ve had the switching issue before as well but you won’t see the offering load at the beginning of the match or on the End Game screen. It’s kind of obvious the offerings didn’t load then. Is that what happened with you and your friends, OP?

Yeah. 3 of us throw in cakes and only 1 will show up before the loading screen. Then on the score board it shows that only one of us used a cake and the other two will have the same number of cakes as before. When we tried just one person using a cake it seems to work, but multiple seem to be bugged.

  • @Venoxxie said:

There is a bug where if you were on a different survivor and then you switch to one with a cake, it does not count the cake. It happened to me numerous times during the anniversary until a friend finally told me I should just re-equip it upon switching back.

If you didn't switch characters then switch back prior to match starting then I dunno the issue and it is still, regardless, a bug. So ye... it sucks.

    I'll try that out, thanks

Devs only care about survivor fun, they don't give a ######### if new killers have to suffer because all that matters to them is new survivor retention. If a new survivor buys the game to play with their SWF red rank friends and gets to bully new killers in matchmaking they will stay.

New players who buy the game wont have fun but that doesn't matter since survivors outnumber killrs 4/1. There's more money to be made by keeping survivors happy.

Unfortunately I think you're right. If Survivors have fun, they'll recommend the game to their friends so they can play together which results in more game sales and more potential cosmetics purchases. Me and my friends all bought DBD to play survivor together and we each started playing killer after already playing survivor. It'll be really disappointing if that really is the devs plan for this game.

Everyone I see lately uses the excuse that "the new MMR will (hopefully) fix it" but usually, people who say this have no clue how an MMR system should work. In order for the system to work, it must first rely on the game being reasonably well balanced, up to a point where even minute skillful plays can be tracked and attributed correctly. It then needs decent representation on all tiers of play, so natural upward progression in terms of skill can occur (aka a lot of ppl playing).

DbD is currently anything but balanced, with broken mechanics and abusable things that can be done to completely tilt a game in a certain direction. By the very nature of the game - you can "lose" by doing things correctly (like how you can kill 3 people as killer and only safety-pip or mori them and get "entity displeased" even though your job is to kill them and on the other side of the coin, survivors can use the key to open the hatch and let everyone out and it's still considered a "win") and you can "win" by just playing enough in that trial (hello, survivors).

At peak time, there are around 30-40k playing during the weekend and 15-25k during the week peak hours, meaning that outside of those times, even fewer people play and depending on those people's particular skill level, the matchmaking will attempt to provide "balanced" games. It's like being dealt a trash hand to play in the game of life, it's bad but it's all you've got so you have to play it as best you can - this is the MMR system they are trying to implement.

On top of all of this is the fact that you have to assume the system being put in is decently thought up and tested, which from what I've seen of BHVR - they have a poor track record of achieving.

All in all, I want to be proven wrong so much because I really like the game, but I think the "new" MMR system won't do much to alleviate these issues and is currently just being used as a scapegoat to justify peoples opinions. That won't be the case forever though but it will still buy BHVR many many more months of not actually doing anything impactful, under the guise of tweaking the fledgling MMR system (it's already been, what? like 7-8-9 months of hearing this MMR excuse any time someone complains of horrible matchmaking - my first thread on this forum was made out of frustration caused by the atrocious matchmaking I encountered when I was just starting out and I've seen people there posting the same things as here).

    We'll wait and see, meanwhile..

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/922C75YUVFBB/the-spice-must-flow.jpg

I've read the changes being made to Xbox One's matchmaking and it seems like the new mmr is going to make the current problem worse. They want to increase the rank variation in each match which is the problem and they said that rank isn't a true indicator of skill, so they won't be using it for matchmaking anymore. I want to be optimistic, but that Matchmaking Update post killed all my faith in the new mmr system.

  • @slim0b said:

I mean the problem with the system is that as survivor you can get to red ranks but just playing the game a lot, but as killer you have to mow through people who can loop occasionally. So there's basically a TON of red rank survivors, and they don't have anyone to get matched against (cause most killers cant endure it until red ranks).

As rank 1 killer it'll only bring you more frustration but hopefully you can use that to become a high-tier killer, good luck on the journey and all we can do is hope the new MMR does something.

Thanks. It feels good to know that others understand.

I'm an experienced player on DBD on the Xbox One, and today the matchmaking has been absolutely dreadful. Only in the past half hour was I made aware that new matchmaking went live today. I've been duoing with a friend of mine who's also pretty experienced (we're both red rank every season, and I know the meme but this indicates we play consistently) and EVERY. SINGLE. GAME — the other two survivors have been ranks 18-20 who crouch in corners, walk everywhere, and go down to Legion's deep wounds due to not knowing what mending is. On top of that, the killers have been the same. I've not seen a single killer that's yellow rank or higher, and I've played for about 11 hours today (it's my day off work, okay?). The games have been absolutely miserable, mentally draining and literally unfun. I'm not asking for god teammates who can carry a match, just someone who knows all the perks and interactions in the game, knows all the killers and their powers, map layouts, and basic looping concepts. Is that so much to ask? I'd literally be GLAD to have someone as low as rank 10 in my match, and a common meme amongst my friends and I is that I always slag rank 10s and they say "rank 10s aren't that bad". Sorry for whining but I just hope this can serve as an omen for what's to come for all you PC players! You'll pretty much have no option but to go 4-man SWF if you don't want potatoes on your team.

It's been happening for close to a month now, hence why I always play with at least one team mate in swf. Killer matchmaking is just a broken. My friends who are red rank killers get lobbies of grey and yellow ranks while me, a purple rank (was a green rank a few days ago) has been consistently getting games with at least 2 red rank survivors.

I think I speak for a decent amount of the community.. We need some lingerie cosmetics for our survivor girls out here... heck even killers if y’all into them at sort of thing

I know you're kidding, but there's a key factor you're overlooking: the ESRB. If DBD doesn't have sexual content on the label, and they add this without getting the game re-evaluated first, it could get really messy. It happened to Oblivion where they had game files that were inaccessible without third party mods and that was enough for the ESRB to get on Bethesda's case and re-rate it (bumping it from Teen to Mature). Funny idea but it has way too many risks to be worthwhile.

  • I wouldn't do that otherwise NOED would be too weak IMO. I'd just change NOED where it notifies the survivors they're exposed when the last gen is popped.

  • I'll list the ones my friends and I use (they aren't my original ideas):

    Wraith: Bing Bong Boi

Pig: Rosie O'Donnell (reference to "Only Rosie O'Donnell")

Clown: Dr. [High school principal's name]

Pyramid Head: Toblerone or Traffic Cone

  • Oh, for that part of the survey I said I'd like to see a cross over with Operation Health from Siege. No new stuff, just fix what you've got.

  • @NinjaDette1 said:

Do you really think the Devs would ban people for clicking flashlights😐.They are apart of the game if you can not handle the truth don’t play DBD.Flashlight clicking is not toxic anyone who says different is not right in the their mind.

There's more to the post than just the first sentence

  • My guess as to why people are afraid of Clowns is because of what could be hidden behind the happy and goofy appearance. Maybe they see the clown make up is a facade hiding something more scary. If I remember correctly, notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy dressed up as a clown, so the fear isn't completely unjustified. Bear in mind this is just speculation though.

I play on PS4 in the Red ranks and whenever I play Legion I seem to just get non stop messages calling him a boring killer or to play another killer because they hate Legion. Why do so many people seem to hate him he's one of the weakest killers in the game and rather easy to counter I have nothing but fun games against him when I play Survivor. Can anyone tell me why so many people hate him?

Deep wound and the screen turning dark can get irritating when playing against Legion, but that's all I can think of. Honestly, if you're getting salt and aren't hacking or face camping, you're probably doing it right.

  • Based on the community survey from a few days ago, the devs know this is an issue. It's kind of hard to not know matchmaking is busted if you play DBD. However, I doubt they'll fix it anytime soon.

  • The issue I have with NOED, and I can't speak for others, is that it will guarantee 1 kill in combination with face camping. I've had several games where we had to leave someone behind (or I was left behind) because we couldn't get the totem and the killer was face camping. I've had a few games where the killer got everyone because they had NOED and Blood Warden after getting steamrolled the whole game. It feels like it rewards bad killers when they didn't deserve the kills.

I think NOED should be changed where it notifies the survivors after the last gen is popped that everyone is exposed. If all 4 survivors are still alive and the killer has only gotten like 3 hooks, it won't help much since survivors will probably fan out and find the totem. If the killer has been keeping up the whole game, NOED will help get the last few downs or at least add to late game pressure.

  • I honestly would move Billy up a tier or 2. Dropping a pallet on him sounds so satisfying.

  • I'm just going to list the things I noticed from watching your videos

-There's a lot of zooms and sound effects and some of them don't feel necessary. Overuse can take away the effect the zoom or sound effect is supposed to have.

-Your commentary is good. Not excessive and not too silent and it's also interesting to listen to.

-I like the music choices, just be wary of copyright claims and strikes

-The video format and editing style remind me of No0b3; it's not necessarily a good or bad thing, just an observation.

Overall, you've got a solid channel. I'm not sure how to grow it given YT's finicky algorithm and the high competition. Good luck with your channel!

  • My feel good moments playing survivor is when I successfully rescue someone off the hook when the killer is camping. I don't mind taking the fall, just as long as the survivor I rescued makes it out.

When playing killer, it has to be downing and hooking the one Blendette I keep losing track of. I'm the one who's supposed to have invisibility, not you Claudette.

  • Survivor: Meg and occasionally Quentin for the jokes

Killer: Wraith, but I have played other killers in customs with my friends

  • @MelodramaticWraith said:

One, same crown for every character's default head and reskined items. What a thrilling event. Oh, I forgot about the offering, which you don't know how to fix for a fricking week.

But I understand, gotta work on those archives and new skins, so people can buy their battle passes.

    Shhhhhh, take some new cosmetics

  • As someone who plays Wraith very often, his mori is very underwhelming and not very satisfying, probably the worst alongside Trapper's. My favorite mori has to be either Oni or Demogorgon.

  • Sounds interesting. It would be cool if they added this in the Holiday season.

  • I can see people won't agree with me but I think Meg and Kate are the most attractive. Quentin and Nea are definitely the least attractive. Quentin should honestly sue his parents with that mug. Nea looks like her face was lit on fire and put out with a baseball bat. The fan art versions of Nea look way better than the actual character model. Not far off of those two are Claudette and Yui. Claudette has a 24/7 facial expression like she just crapped her pants and Yui's character model is straight up cross eyed.

  • I play survivor more than killer since I'm trash at killer, but I think Spirit is the hardest to survive against. Freddy is a close second.

  • A killer face camping is a personal "screw you" message to the survivor on the hook. It's irritating, but it's entirely within the rules and I don't think the game could be re balanced to punish face camping without breaking everything. I just take the de-pip and hope that the next game is better whenever it happens to me.

"how does the matchmaking system work in this game??"

It doesn't. All I can say is Good Luck with your future killer games.

I have enjoy the new chapter so far. The killer, survivor and the map which is a total labyrinth but still love it.

I run borrowed time in my build all the time and the one thing that pisses me off beyond belief is the fact that cage rescues in the killers terror radius don't get borrowed time where as hook rescues would.

As far as I know with the cages, Borrowed Time, Decisive Strike, and We're Gonna Farm Forever. I've also noticed that when Adrenaline activates when on a hook, I come off the hook healthy and with a speed boost. When Adrenaline activates when I'm in a cage, I don't gain a health state or speed boost when rescued. Killer perks like BBQ and Chili also don't work with the cages.

  • @SloppyKnockout said:

Firstly - this isn't a bug report. This is a rant.

    1. Sounds worse than before (which is funny cause the patch notes literally said it was fixed). Now you can't even hear survivors dropping and landing, in addition to footsteps and being in dying state most of the time.
    2. Bloodwarden is straight up broken on the new map. It literally doesn't work. They can actually walk right through, and if they can't, they can stand right in front of it and if you hit them, they get hit through, so you're screwed.
    3. The new map is a horses ass. The IDEA is good, the aesthetic is fantastic, but the execution...like...who the hell designed that layout? Whoever it was, please, hire someone who plays the game to double check and proof their work. They clearly know how to design COOL stuff, but not FUNCTIONAL stuff. A fog whisperer even. It's basically Haddonfield 2.0, except Haddonfield is actually less of a pain in the ass if you can believe that; except this map is a pain for killers AND survivors. Do you know how many survivors I've seen die because their team mates straight up can't figure out how to get to them? It's a mess. Absolute hot garbage.
    4. Billy.
    5. Why in the hell does a mori work after a cage, and not after being hooked with Pyramid Head? I say that even as a killer main. YOU GUYS SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE KINDS OF OVERSIGHTS AFTER 4 YEARS.
    6. Loadouts intermittently missing from tally screen. (Bravo, btw. You found a way to break something you barely touched).

These are just the ones I notice on the regular.

We're at a point in this games lifetime where you guys at BHVR have literally...LITERALLY found every possible way you can kill the trust you have with your player base. I won't speak for everyone here, but I know myself and a huge portion of your community are absolutely SICK AND TIRED of dealing with a game where there are LITERALLY OPEN BETAS OF EVERY SINGLE LARGE UPDATE THAT REPORT ALL THESE ISSUES WELL BEFORE YOU RELEASE AND YOU STILL CAN'T GET THIS ######### FIXED...and yet...we still play, because we love what it represents, and what it brings to the table.

What on earth is WRONG with you guys? Sound for example has been literally broken for YEARS...and HOW DOES SOMETHING LIKE the BLOODWARDEN bug get through QA? Do you even HAVE QA?!? If you do - double down on their budget.

I'm sorry to hear you're upset with the game. Here: have some Zarina cosmetics. Jk, I'm just messing with you. I agree with you about the devs and bugs. They either don't know or don't care about what they're doing. I don't which is worse.

  • Here's an idea: what about the hooked survivor gaining Boldness points while the killer is standing in the radius that would reveal his aura with Kindred. The idea is to make it so the face camped survivor doesn't de-pip. Kinda sucks when the killer decides to face camp from the first hook, tunnel you down, and then you just have to take the de-pip even though there wasn't anything you could do.

  • I'll still wiggle if I'm the last one. The match isn't done for me until I'm up in the clouds. Even if my chance are nil I'll still try and get some Boldness points and chase practice out of it.

  • @Kolonite said:

DBD needs to dedicate a chapter to simply fixing bugs and other issues with the game. No new killer or anything. Just like Siege did awhile back.

They should, but I don't think they will.

  • I agree with A and above. In my opinion, I would move Plague, Demo, and Deathslinger up to B; move Legion and Bubba up to C; move Pig down to D; and move Pyramid Head down to C. I don't know how to explain my changes other than my personal encounters with the killers and how easily I can survive and loop them.

  • @Jholla31 said:

Why is it with every new release, survivors on consoles act like jerks? Console players don't get a chance to feel out a killer or his perks on PTB. We have to learn on the fly, even if you are in red ranks. I'm not asking for free wins, by any means, but today...

I've played three games as Pyramid Head so far. In my first game, a three man swf 6 second switched on me to flashlights and a BNP toolbox (I got one kill). In the second game there were three toolboxes on Mother's Dwelling (I got one kill). The third game was a little better, but only because the survivors rushed three gens on one side of Suffocation pit, giving me an easy 3/4 gen. Got a 4k, but barely (and one emblem away from adept, which was annoying, but they rushed the first 3 gens too fast).

Console survivors, if you see someone playing the new killer, barely 2 hours after release, why not be a little less sweaty? Don't throw the game, but at least give people a chance at a learning experience.

You've basically explained why I don't experiment with new killers outside of custom games with my friends. I haven't really branched out to new killers since walking into a game not knowing how to fully use the killers abilities is a guaranteed loss for me.

  • Meg Thomas. I can't quite explain why. Maybe I've got a thing for athletic chicks.

  • Successfully saving a teammate at end game and them making it out. It's even more satisfying if they're face camping and we both end up making it out. I hate leaving someone behind if I could've still saved them. If I take the fall for it, that's fine by me.

  • Here's my ideas for amusing, but maybe not practical perks

Selfish Bastard - Steal a health state from one of your fellow survivors for 25% / 30% / 35% bonus blood points awarded at the end of the trial. Can be used once in the trial and blood point bonus stacks.

Better Them than Me - After performing a rushed action, auras of all survivors within 32m are revealed to the killer for 3 seconds. 140 / 120 / 100 second cool down.

Wasn't Me - Failing a skill check will trigger a loud noise from a generator not being repaired. Normal regression penalties apply to the failed skill check. 180 / 160 / 140 second cool down.

(Don't have a good name) - Grants the ability to break through the entity blocking off a window or gate once at the cost of the entity blocking off the window or gate for all survivors for the rest of the trial.

Hex: Prankster - A extra hex totem spawns on the map. When a survivor cleanses it, they will emit a laugh track that can be hear within 32 meters for 30 seconds.

  • I hate it when teammates make super unsafe unhooks, I don't run decisive strike and they don't have borrowed time, yet they unhook me with the killer on their tail and I get downed almost instantly. I think the idea is use me as a distraction so they can escape.

  • When I'm playing killer, I hate Claudette because I can't even see them. If I see a Claudette, I take the opportunity to down them a quickly as possible otherwise she'll disappear only to be seen teabagging at the exit gate.

When I play survivor, I still hate Claudette since majority of them I come across do lots of unsafe unhooks, body block pallets, and/or crouch in the corner not working on objectives

  • I've always been told it's bad manners to smack people on the hook, but from a survivors perspective, it is kinda annoying when you keep hearing smacks and your character screaming while struggling on hook

  • Here's why I play killer: Blood Points and Shorter Queue Times. I'm a rank 13 and have been stomped by high rank survivors many times. Despite all of the survivors escaping, I'll still walk away with at least 15k blood points while getting 15k blood points from survivor is how much I make from a good game against on par killers. Queue Times when playing killer are on average about 1 minute with more than 3 minutes being a rarity. Survivor queues both solo and with my friends takes anywhere from 5-15 minutes. In addition having the party glitch out where 1 person in the party doesn't make it into the game or is invisible to everyone else can extend the time to find a game to 30 minutes. Getting stomped over and over isn't fun at all, but sometimes I'll do it so I can actually play a game and get some blood points.

  • @Zoophage said:

Yup, same thing over here in, albeit in the PlayStation universe. I'm really hoping for actual crossplay to be available soon! All these comp players will raise the bar, eh?

On a side note, looks like that rank 20 killer (your first screenshot) did really well against you guys (with 1 perk, 0 add-ons, and 0 offerings)! Was that right after a reset?

Well, we got to a point where we started purposefully going down so we could get protection hits and unhooks hence why the killer walked away with a lot of points. My friend messaged him and apparently he hadn't played in 5 months and that was his first game back.

  • Any killer and NOED, I mostly play survivor and it's frustrating to be steamrolling a really bad killer only for them to whip out NOED and get a guaranteed 1k. I've seen NOED at least once on every killer.

  • I'm surprised when I see Bitter Murmur and BBQ & Chili on someone's killer build. Seems kind of overkill to me and I always go with BBQ since like the extra blood points.
