Can we get rid of this enormous "Play" button? It's bad, unnecessary and no one asked for it.

Seriously, this is one more of those cases of the devs taking minor player requests and, instead of doing just that, making some bigger change that nobody asked for with no concern for downsides that may come with it. "Players asked for more queue info below the 'Play' button? Let's make a new button that will be huge, opaque, and contain all the info inside it instead of below it". Why? Why at all?

With its enormous size and opacity, it even covers part of the character's model. Not only the feet and ankles, but many killers have long weapons that touch the ground or hang near it (Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Nurse, Pyramid Head, Demogorgon, Twins, Trickster, Artist, Dredge, Knight, Singularity and Houndmaster) and when you're spinning the model to see the cosmetics in more detail, it gets covered by the button too, stopping you from fully seeing the weapon from certain sides and angles. That's a little annoying while trying to mix and match cosmetics. To make it worse, it gets in the way of some killer intro animations, like Unknown, Krasue and the First.

It's buggy as hell too and currently it doesn't even show the info it was supposed to, but that can be fixed. My point here is that the whole design of this button is a problem. And with that plus the "play while you wait" window that pops up when you join the killer queue, the menu screen is now more poluted than ever. But at least the "play while you wait" one has a clear function and can be closed, while the "Play" button has no need at all to be this big, specially after so many years of a smaller, translucent button that always worked fine.

    ROBERT, IT'S PISSING ME OFF

No but seriously, it's ugly and actually does make me unreasonably angry. Not extremely angry, just more angry than it should.

  • BHVR keeps doing this kind of stuff and it’s why I continue to refrain from supporting this game with my $. They keep making unnecessary, bad changes that nobody asked for while ignoring bugs, neglecting older content and refusing to address the non-functional matchmaking system for years.

agreed. this was just wasted effort…..

  • Because someone at BHVR who checks certain boxes but only knows how to make minor lobby UI changes needs to justify their continuing employment.

  • It seems to not always register your clicks too.

  • I don't understand why the button was changed. People are creatures of habit, why did you decide to change that button, i'm very interested. Can a moderator or manager answer this question please?

  • Agree.

If I wanted to know how long I've waited I have a watch and a clock on the wall that can tell me that.

Now it doesn't even tell you how long until the match starts as the countdown after all player are on screen but not yet clicked ready has disappeared.

    Useless and pointless.

    Get rid of it.

  • Yeah, I detest the new Play button as well. It's too big, covers up the killer's legs/cosmetics I paid real money for and can only admire in the lobby, and doesn't even show me how long the estimated queue time is anymore! All so it can show some fancy burning animation no one asked for? Please just burn the code that powers this thing and revert it to the previous UI.

Even worse, if you're in a lobby waiting for the match to start, it no longer shows you the 1 minute count down timer before the match starts, and if everyone hits their respective ready buttons, the Play button burns away and disappears, THEN a survivor dodges the lobby in the final 7 second countdown timer… The Play button never returns and you can't cancel your ready state and even the Back/Esc button on the left vanishes.. You're just stuck in that lobby until another survivor shows up to start the match or you force close DBD.

  • i dont really understand the dislike for a minor UI change. its by far not the first UI change they have done. I do understand a bit of annoyance at covering up a cosmetic i guess but its just a play button guys

  • Yes, Ive noticed that the time remaining until the match starts is missing. I wonder if thats to combat survivors from dropping out at the last possible second to screw around?

i believe it is a bug based off coments i have seen and due to me seeing weird code icons on that spot that is clearly the display not working right so i am confident it is a bug and not intentional.

It not displaying is a bug, but it counting UP is working as intended. They obviously want to combat there "20min queue? Nah, I quit" people… but it's going to have the opposite effect IMO… people are going to queue for a few minutes then quit because they have NO IDEA. Seriously, I am an avid player but these changes make me worry I might not have the desire to play to finish the RIft Pass for the first time since 2021 (the only one since then I didn't finish was the Trickster chapter Rift, what was it 6? Anyway, due to when I started there was truly no chance without buying levels.)

wait, the counting up and not telling you the estimated wait time is intentional?
