Tunneling Survivors ruins their fun but what are Survivors doing to preserve the fun of the Killer?
I just had a round where I was at one generator left and I went for the survivor that was deathhook. In the endgame chat they cried and complained that "Tunneling them out ruined their fun"
They expect me to play differently just so they have fun but how are they playing differently to make sure I have fun? I never saw a survivor who said "Ah man we finished two generators within of 30 seconds, we should slow down a bit and do some totems and chests so the Killer can catch up".

just play the game man, no matter what killer, power, perk or playstyle you pick someone will be upset as people are upset over every component of the game they play.
Posts like this are just kind of playground esque. you paid for the game. as long as your not harassing people and intentionally trying to annoy them, then play how you like. Eryone will have matches that go well or not. not the killers nor the survs job to make sure you have an easier match.
Getting tunneled indeed isn't fun they're correct however I never understood why the sides are responsible for each other's fun. Survivor and killer both are responsible for their own fun, this is why we have so many band aid perks. Anti tunnel, Anti Slug, Healing faster, Gens faster, Gen regression, Aura, Chase perks like Brutal/Bamboozle, Stealth perks, no matter what side you play if there's aspects to the game you dislike there are perks to make those things easier and protect your own fun.
I think the first question to ask yourself is, what would make it more fun for you? Of course, everyone is going to have a different answer, and none of them would be right or wrong. But for example, if I walked up to you and let you put me on the hook, would that make it more fun for you?
It would be more fun if survivors stop t-bagging/clicking flashlights at gates and say GG more often and not just when the killer lost.
Personally I have always said ggs.
"Please play different so i have fun."
Sounds like a request, not an order.
most people dont have chat because they are on console or they keep chat closed. desiring that is not reasonable.
Nod back at them at gates or dont go to gates. them doing that is only negative if you and them mutually decide its negative. otherwise its a nothing gesture that your just assuming the intent is to annoy you.
Most players i am quite confident are oblivious to made up dbd etiquette that we like to throw around in places like this
I mean, what else is there for survivors to do? If you're not getting chased you're doing gens or getting saves. I'm all for ALL players doing things to try and make the game more fun for their opponents but survivors have almost nothing to do outside of gens or chase.
The best I could suggest is grouping up on gens to lower efficiency? But that's still no more interesting than doing them as efficiently as possible.
To answer the question seriously — I play both sides, and, on either side, I try to be sensitive to what the overall match has been like.
So, if I'm playing Survivor and the killer has struggled to get a hook all match, I'm not going to run over there and block them from their first hook in the late game, when we still have all hook states left. Similarly, if I'm playing Killer and there are still 4-5 gens but one of the survivors is very unlucky and keeps running into me right after they get unhooked, I might pretend I didn't see them once or twice.
If it's late game and you purposely try to eliminate one of the survivors, I don't think that's a problem, personally, but it all depends on context.
I mean killer is the power role, as killer I don't end a game on a full 0k very often, it's annoying when it happens but it doesn'thappen all that often. As survivor It's not unusual for me to go on streaks of 5-10 games without surviving.
So when I play survivor I'll always take an escape if I can.
I do get what OP means though. If survs have the upper hand a lot will go to massive lengths to try and deny killers a single kill if they can which seems a bit rough. But this often backfires. I've seen games that should've been 1ks turn into 2, 3 or even occasionally 4ks. Personally I'm not that fussed about leaving a surv in end game unless the killer's been particularly toxic
I never saw a survivor who said "Ah man we finished two generators within of 30 seconds, we should slow down a bit and do some totems and chests so the Killer can catch up".This is actually really common where the survivors are well ahead so they start doing chests, totems, trying for unnecessary saves, etc.
Like most complaints in the game, the idea that this is just one sided is silly.
Basically no one does that and I wouldn't count trying getting saves as a thing to lower the efficiency (getting a save wastes a lot of time on the killer side).
It's pretty common if the survivors are ahead, I've even seen CCs talk about it when a match is going really well.
It's just a lot rarer for survivors to be ahead than the killer. Its much more common in 2v8 because survivors being in a clearly winning position is much more regular.
As for unnecessary saves slowing down the killer - and a killer who doesn't tunnel to keep a fair match is still slowing down the survivors by pressuring them off of gens and forcing others to go for rescues. Both sides are engaging in less than optimal play in the interest of a more enjoyable match.
In OPs actually a lot more is being asked of survivors than of killers because a survivor cleansing a totem is contributing nothing and chests are pretty close to almost nothing, while a non-tunneling killer is still advancing their side.
I'd also argue that 1. I have not encountered nearly as many teabagging toxic survivors as hard tunneling killers and that's most likely because 2. teabagging gains no competitive advantage, it can be frustrating but it doesn't affect the game at all, while hard tunneling not only is incredibly frustrating and unfun but also often the easiest way to win.
The unfun strat should not also be the most efficient one when a game is about having fun. The most powerful strat also shouldn't be most usable and effective on the already-strongest killers in the game. These are why tunneling is considered a problem that needs to be solved while getting teabagged sometimes is not
Ye, I am not talking about console players and there's a lot of pc players that are able to say GG, like I wonder why exactly do survivors say GG when the killer lost but basically never say it when the killer got a 3k/4k, they do sometimes.
I am not trying to complain, I am just saying this would make a better experience for a lot of people probably.
T-bagging is obviously a gesture created in gaming to annoy the other person and survivors will get annoyed if killer does a gesture like this (w+s and hitting on hook, I only do those when they t-bag). Ig hitting on hook and w+s is also a nothing gesture then.
i make an active effort to say ggs and glnm every match now regardless of if i won or lost or was stressed. I think its important to force positivity to maintain good mindsets and behaviors. it helped me anyways. I started doing this because i noticed the Streamer Slate doing that and i had alot of respect for that. i never said anything mean in chat when i was mad, i just wouldnt use it. but i think even if i have a rough match, it sends a grounding point where i have to take control of my emotions and show sportmanship.
Game needs more positive interactions 100%
edit" and yes hit on hook and tbag is a nothing gesture. it DOES nothing. Nothing Material that is. if you hit a surv on hook, the only way that becomes a problem is if the surv decides they should be offended by the act of you hitting them on hook. Thats objectively silly.
I understand the feeling but that is a very silly thing to get bothered by. and because its a silly thing to get bothered by and doesnt hold any real meaning, we should take steps to address how we react to that internally. it will help alot with how you feel when playing i promise.
I dont think ive ever tried to hard tunnel before except maybe for some fringe matches where im down so far the game has switched to the goal being 1k.
So i suppose i may not have the most informed opinion but i do not agree that its the easiest way to win.
It may be the easiest way to win against new survivors.
but average and good players should be making hard tunneling either equal in effectiveness to not by the pace of gens you should be pushing(and assuming the tunneled survivor is able to stay alive for more than 5 seconds. if they cant, do they deserve to be in the game?) or less effective than spreading hooks.
I am of the opinion that if not playing against noobies, spreading hooks is substantially more impactful because you are guarenteed by doing that you should have at minimum 2 people off gens at all times and good chunks should be securing you 3 people off gens.
Hard tunneling allows for 3 people to comftorable sit on gens. That is significant in my view.
I myself do not even run gen regression much other than ruin in some builds as my name suggests i am a hex enjoyer.
I can only speak for myself, but not only do i RARELY see actual tunneling (maybe if i didnt play so much killer i would think there was more as i would be unaware of so many of factors that leads to consecutive downs without tunneling being intentional) and i do not lose games to tunnelers unless the team as a whole is just bad. and if thats the case we were going to lose the game anyways.
if a surv cant stay up long enough for even a short chase, then i feel its on them to make themselves less viable for tunneling. i am not good at chases as surv but i can hold my own or at least delay a bit and sometimes escape all together. but on many teams i am the one thats prime for it and yet its very rare to see. slugging for 4k isnt even that crazy common though probably 30-40% of the time
Its an apple and oranges question. When people bring up these sort of discussion, its often asked within the assumption that both roles are the same or share similarities when they don't.
The killer is an individual player that dictates the entire match. They make every decision on their end, and its their job to kill the four survivors.
Survivors on the other hand have to rely on each other and interact with each other to escape. If one survivor is killed early, the killer has already won and it becomes impossible to do all five gens.
Tunneling out a survivor drastically hurts all the survivors and their chance to escape while rushing three gens in the beginning doesn't automatically make it a loss for the killer. Realistically, its the killers fault for letting those gens fly and not spreading enough pressure.
If the survivors fun matters to you as a killer, then that is your choice. Otherwise play how you want. If you want to care about the killers fun, or blame their actions on your ability to have fun, then go ahead. Just don't pretend either is even remotely similar to the other.
Honestly, I don't mind getting tunneled. I can hold my own and even if I don't I am almost always SoloQing so I can move on the next match quickly without a second thought. I got thousands of anniversary cakes so not getting value out of one here and there doesn't bother me.
I don't like when I see my teammates getting tunneled and try to help when I can.
If the killer isn't having fun that's not my problem. I hope they has fun in their next match but I am not going out of my way to make their game fun unless there is snoot-booping involved.
I think the better question is: If theres something you do as survivor and us KM's say "No! Stop doing that, its not making our games fun" are you still going to stop doing it?
I mean that is what all you survivors tell us killers whenever we: Camp/tunnel/slug/3gen, play Nurse/Blight/Kaneki/Jason, 4 gen regress perks, or anything else that inconvenience you.
And what are we doing to make the game unfun for you? I don't flashlight, sabo, teabag, so what are you going to tell me to stop doing?
