Is anyone else concerned about the upcoming MMR rework?
I think its currently working reasonably well as in killing and escaping through gates representing the player skill.
The main issue is lobby dodging and backfilling from that moment anything can happen and the mmr destroyed. So the best thing would be to remove the ability to dodge.
But back on topic. According to various rumors killer could gain mmr not according to kills but hooks.
This present various issues:
1, If killing no longer counts, then a slugging killer will be considered weak player(no hooks) and gets matched against newbies to destroy
2, If only hooks counts, then a farming killer could be considered as top tier player and the game no longer meant to be played but points farmed. Imagine wanting to play a game but killer is not interested in killing since the game only rewards hooking.
3, If both hooks and kills counts, then everybody will be considered a good player effectively removing mmr, outside the very few killer who cant even get a hook or kill. Again very bad for game.
I could say the same about survivors, if wont be about escapes anymore then it will be point farming instead of playing the game. And there is various way to game system, like rescuing a survivor from a hook near killer, then killer instantly going for rescued, essentially the good altruistic survivor farmed the teammate but according system its good one even though doomed team etc. Same way gaming the chases etc
What I want to say there is no fairer method than killing and escaping through gate, anything else and the game will be much worse off.
And more likely to lead even less survivor as again basing on hooks will mean slugging rewarded, if both counts then removing mmr so even less restrictions for top tier killers to farm solo etc

Going back to the grade system would probably be the easiest way tbh. There are too many play styles that could make you be considered "bad" or "good" even though its the opposite. Although its fine as long as I'm not playing with or against players with 50 hours.
100% agree on lobby dodging part, pre game lobby needs to be removed or people need to be getting penalties for dodging lobbies constantly.
I hope MMR rework is more nuanced and takes into account much more then just one or other.
hook stages, chase time, match time, gens left along with surviour and killer specific conditions I would like to see (eg how many gens/ heals you did personally, killer power usage for killers who have a harder to use powers. like a unknown who is using power to get downs constantly should be considered higher MMR then someone getting most hits with m1s and bloodlust)
I think it's pretty straight forward on the Killer side to dial in MMR and calculate how well a player is performing, mostly through Kills.
I'm worried about the Survivor side. What if you are unlucky and get tunneled a lot? What if you rarely touch Gens but you are a God tier Looper? What if you save everyone on your team but usually end up dead because you like to play Alturistic?
Much harder to calcualte a good Survivor player because it can be a lot of different things.
Why not just function off the Pip system? On the Survivor side it's very diffifcult to do EVERYTHING in EVERY match. Especially with current pace of the game, map traversing Killers and endless aura reveal.
I remember several years ago when we had a fairly competent MMR system. I grinded to see how well I could do and made it into Iredecent ranks as a Solo. I couldn't tell you what my MMR was but every match was hard sweat and 50% of them were Blights. Survivor was in a stronger place at the time perkwise. We had old Dead Hard and original Circle of Healing. And we didn't have the current roster of map traversing Killers.
I honestly wouldn't want High MMR in current Meta. You guys can have fun with that.
I'm not too fussed as it can't be worse than the current one, it's continuous lobby dodging as everyone is mentioning that needs punished.
Lobby dodging would be a non-issue if they just pulled from the same MMR bracket.
I'd also like to try going back to something like the rank system. It's hard to gage skill based on just kills and gate escapes, but it's also hard to judge anything else too.
After last year I'm worried about anything BHVR announces until they give us details.
I really dislike the 'we're going to fix this down the line' - okay, how? If you don't have that worked out yet, don't hype us on it, if you do have it worked out, tell us so you can get feedback.
I feel like it would be different if BHVR had a good reputation at making changes/fixes in a reasonable time span. Saying your putting something on the back burner is fine if stuff only stays back there for MAYBE afew months, but with BHVR... its often times multiple years which just gives the impression that they're saying that hoping you eventually forget about it.
The problem with rank system it needs to be strict.
If done by playtime like currently it is(anybody can reach IRI if plays enough since impossible to depip anymore) So ask yourself is it likely the devs add a super strict mmr system based on ranks where possible to depip? The social media would go up in flames
What would happen that all people ending up in highest mmr because the rank system would be super lenient and surely never permitted to depip
If prioritising short queue times takes precedent over all else, I feel confident in saying that whatever BHVR comes up with, it will feel pretty much the same as it currently does. And I can't see them abandoning escapes and kills altogether as the key metric for match-making, I just think there will be modifiers to how much rank you gain or lose due to whatever else you managed to get done in a trial. I think it'll be a mash up of the current skill based system and the old grading system but I guess we'll see.
If the system has some prevention for lobby shopping to stop mismatches due to back filling, that could make an impact on the quality of games. But otherwise, I don't see there being a big change if the most important thing is keeping the queue times as short as possible.
This would be a solution honestly, honestly would fix lobby dodging coz they'd keep getting the same lobby requeueing
I've noticed it often does that anyway, which makes me wonder how random it really is. I'll see the same person go in and out three times.
For me it's usually when its not peak hours, so like when not many are playing. Hard to tell when on survivor side coz you don't know if it's the same killer or not.
I'm not concerned, it has to be better than what we currently have.
The only concern I have is that it’s never going to happen. How long have we been promised this supposed matchmaking/MMR rework with nothing delivered yet?
People keep bringing up lobby dodging.. I guess people are doing that so they will search for good teammates as survivor, or easier prey as killer?
A really simple solution to that is adjusting MMR at the end of the game based on the MMR of your opponents.
If you do well against a baby billy and 4man out him, your MMR barely goes up, if any at all. If that killer is more skilled, you get a higher MMR adjustment. For losses, it's the opposite. Lose to someone of much more skill level than you, your MMR doesn't really go down much. If you lose to someone with lower MMR, you lose more rating yourself.
