Why does this game still not have an actual Victory/Defeat screen?
I also think an in-game match history is sorely needed as well.

DbD players are some of the most hyper-sensitive gamers out there. Seeing a defeat screen would cause an existential crisis
lmao maybe. although honestly the end screen is outdated either way (it's barely different from how it was 10 years ago), hopefully we get an updated end screen in a year when the overhaul comes through
We already have one? I feel like "Escaped" and "Dead" are pretty self-explanatory. Same with Merciless Killer and Entity Displeased.
Isn't "brutal killer" a 1k?
It is like they want DbD to feel like Purgatory.
I don't think having a defeat screen would be helpful or needed.
But I definitely think that the killer should get a "You Won" screen that is identical for a 3k or a 4k. There are killer players who think they've lost if they don't kill everyone and it makes the game worse for everyone involved when they slug for the 4k, especially when they have anything to help them find the last survivor.
I think they thematically want to keep things ambiguous when it comes to "winning" and "losing" in the Entity's realm. There are no "winners" in the fog. Both the Killers and the Survivors are doomed to repeat a never ending cycle of trials until they are ultimately discarded into the void when they inevitably become emotional and mental husks.
Plus, back in the real world there are times when a loss might feel more like a win to some players. Let's say you sacrifice yourself to get a teammate out the gate in the end game. You lost because you died but you also won because you still achieved your goal. Or let's say you got 8 hooks but no Kills in a tough match. You lost but at the same time, it's not the same as a trial where you got zero hooks all game, even though the result is exactly the same on paper.
Plus, is it not kind of redundant to tell players they lost? Like, if I didn't escape / kill most of the Survivors, I know I didn't exactly win. Why rub salt in the wound?
It is "The Entity Hungers". "Entity Displeased" was too hard for some, so the Devs changed it.
Yep.
I couldn't care less about a victory/defeat screen but goddamn I really want a match history where I can look through perk builds
Because BHVR doesn't want to give the game a clear win/loss binary.
If you are a survivor and die but the other three escape, you can consider that a win, a loss, or somewhere between. You can care only about yourself, only about the others, or a mixture of both. Likewise as killer you can treat the game as win/lose draw, or you can adjust based on the total performance.
This isn't even getting into points/pips and factoring those into whether you won or lost. I'm not a huge fan of BHVR's system, but it used to be more extreme.
You can do that on the official stats page. You can see all players builds there of your last 30 matches.
Yh i should probably check that out. Unfortunately my phone is old as rocks and doesn't do qr codes ๐
Stats.deadbydaylight.com
No QR code needed
Oh sweet cheers for that. Is there a date it started from? My hours on there seem low
The hours track only time in trials, while other sources like Steam track how long the game is running. So time in queues, lobbies, bloodweb, etc. are not counted - which was a pretty shocking realization how much time we spend in all of those and not actually playing the game.
I think there is also an issue with how it tracks game modifiers/event modes compared to regular 1v4 on your time played.
Yh i suppse before we had quick spend bloodweb was very time consuming

I honestly don't think it's needed, I know when I won and when not, I don't need a screen for that.
Also dbd still doesn't have clean rules for that:
As survivor you could say "Survivor survived so it shows the winning sceeen". As killer you play against 4 players, you could say "4-3 is the majority of survivors dead so it shows the winning screen", "2 is the middle so it shows a draw screen" and "1-0 is the minority so it shows the losing screen".
While that would work some survivors also count a win only at 3-4 survivors out, and some killers only count 4k's as win. So for some that still wouldn't apply. Dbd simply is not an overwatch where you can say "team a captured point a and b and therefore won" or "team b got the payload to the end and therefore won", dbd doesn't even count survivors as one team at least in mmr xD
