Being Freddy fan in 2023
It's terrible.
He is not getting new movie or tv show.
He is worst adapted killer in DbD with very boring power. No costumes, no voice-line, no personality...
It's really not best days for Freddy fans. Jason is also similar since he is not even in DbD and no new content for him as well.

With regards to film and television, it's better to let the NoES series rest in peace.
Robert Englund is the only person who can do Freddy and he has stated numerous times that he is too old now.
I would love Robert Englund Freddy skins (Original and Wes Craven's New Nightmare) and I have no doubt Englund would do the voice acting.
Warner Bros. Never allows the Freddy we all love in video games. Hell, even years ago when they put him in Mortal Kombat, it was the remake Freddy that we have in DBD.

Me too. I like how he wiggles his fingers. Looks even better with STBFL. On some maps his dream pallet looks great too.

It is truly a pity as a fan of ANoES. Many people here like @GeneralV and others have very cool concepts to make Freddy more fun.
Unfortunately I doubt we will ever get the original one since is another license (or his outfits/powers/voice lines for that reason).
But at least they could make him fun to use and verse, while giving him a more interesting Dreamworld that is more than a brightness filter. With the introduction of "The Void" during the Halloween event, they could take some inspiration for this other world.
Anyway, to my sadness I'm sure Freddy fits in the category of the infamous "expect to see changes in the next years 😭"
Jason got more going for him than Freddy does, Jason got a new game coming out and a new series called Crystal Lake.
There was talk of a nightmare movie in the works with Warner Bros basically wanting Englund back, but that seems to be stuck in development hell.
Despite being a licensing tar pit right now, Jason still have a better chance of getting in than OG Freddy does, only way OG Freddy would happen is if Warner Bros sold off the rights to a more willing company.
More then anything concerning Freddy i would love to see (and hear) an Ultimate Robert Englund as the Krueger skin. Sad we probably wont ever get this treat.

Having a killer that is fun for both sides is always a win. So its always worth fighting for it. Freddy is currently the only killer with the power (in concept) to drag ppl to another dimension (well, the Entity too but is not playable :P)...and is so underused...the dredge has a faster teleport and a scarier filter (nightfall).
We need Freddy to be more unique to use, a more interactive Dreamworld and fun, yet fair, counters.

Yes, it is worth it. We all need Freddy to improve because his current state is unbearable, both for him and for survivors. There is also the matter of all Old Freddy mains, like me, who lost their killer with that patch 3.1.0
We deserve our killer back. I hope we get him.

I actually don't have a problem feeling the role of Freddy as you play him in first person and I do like his dark, evil laugh when the survivors fall asleep 😴

There was a weekend a friend of mine brought that and the NES Friday the 13th game over. Scary as a 9 year old, but interesting to look back at the images.
