Anti-Adrenaline Exploit

I'm not going to repeat the steps on how to do it, but I know the developers know how to a killer prohibit a survivor from adrenaline becoming activated if they are saved from the hook after the last gen is turned on. I've been seeing killers do this done to other players and it's very shady. It's just as shady as when killers would spam the drop button to deprive decisive strike back in the day. There are plenty of ways this adrenaline problem can be solved.

  • Steps:

    1. While carrying a survivor, if last gen is done, drop him if you were not carrying him for long

    2. Down instantly

    3. Adrenaline now gone :)

Not really an exploit, just good game sense. A bit like using old DH to whiff killer powers. A mechanic that probably needs fixing but any players using it this way are completely valid while it exists.

They would have to rework Adrenaline to fix this, likely involving Endurance in some way.

That's one possibility. Another one is "activating" survivor a little bit before killer's drop animation - so that survivor has enough time to run away that killer's immediate M1 does not reach him. You don't even need to adjust the time that much. Survivor will be moving at 150% speed so it's just very minor

  • It's just a tech like window teching or whatever other janky stuff survivors do. Hiding inside killers hitbox after a hit.

Yeah I'm not sure why OP labeled it as an "exploit" lol

  • It’s not an exploit. It’s big brain killer #########.

  • That's not really an exploit. It's just the killer predicting a perk and countering it. It's like doing the CJ Tech or something.

  • Not an exploit, nor does it need to be changed. Adrenaline is a very strong perk even with the downside that this can happen. If the killer drops you and instantly swings when you didn't have Adrenaline, then they just wasted a few seconds for nothing and gave you free wiggle progress that might end up making a difference.

Fwiw, this is also part of why I also run Soul Guard on one of my favorite builds with Adrenaline because it completely shuts down this counterplay (since being picked up by Adrenaline also triggers Endurance at that point).

this is not an exploit, it's smart play if you suspect the player has Adrenaline. I've had it done to me when the killer correctly deduced that I was running Resilience and Adrenaline.

Again I never said it was .-.

Why's everyone think I'm the OP? xd

apologies never meant to infer you were the person that described it as being an exploit - you were the one that linked the steps.

We are all of course presuming this is what the OP was referring to. If it's anything else, players are welcome to contact me via DM here to let me know of any exploits without needing to make them public.

This is a critical error and abuse of the killer over the survivor

    No, no. It’s really not.

  • Regardless of the definition of an exploit is, my point was to discuss adrenaline. I guess I can retitle this "adrenaline tech abuse" or something, but I don't want to go on a tangent about semantics.

Some might call it "big brain", but I see it as a cheap strategy, bad design and something to be looked into. Even in anonymous mode, killers can still recognize if I'm the survivor playing against them and will remember which perks I've ran matches prior. Especially during hours when there's a smaller population online. Also, the survivor has no frame advantage during the pick up animation, and there's no mind game like on dead hard.

It may be a smart play, but without Soul Guard you are helpless here. I tried different solutions to avoid the hit after being dropped (run directly away, try to get inside the killer model etc) but it doesn't work. You can't move fast enough. I think the problem is that you get staggered (like with DS) and therefore can't accelerate fast enough to get away. I think doing this dropping tech is the same like juggling survivors with old DS. A perk that can only be activated once gets shut down by some "big brain" tech or move. It's like DCing when you notice the killer has Bloodwarden and you are about to get hooked.

This could be fixed by adding 0.5s endurance or by giving the killer a short cooldown for M1 after dropping someone.

I prefer the endurance though. Affecting the whole game less.

Its fine Mandy we all make mistakes :)

I only really did because OP said he wasn't even tho it's kinda obvious lol

    Sure bud :)

No, this is just playing well. I know... I know... You don't have to tell me, I know survivors hate it when killers play well but that is merely what it is. You'll just have to deal with it. Survivor's exploit so much ######### it isn't even funny, don't see how you even dare complain about this...

Sure. Just about the same as hatch that could open for whole team - that was also "good play from survivors". And for some unfathomable reason devs decided to actually remove it from the game. Maybe because it was actually unfair.

Imagine survivors could do some abuse like this for no-way-out. Would you be OK if survivors could say touch some finished gen (other then the last finished one) for like 5 seconds and then gate to prevent the perk from activating? Because it would be "big brain" to touch it instead of going for gate immediately. Well think again - it's end game perk that can activate exactly once. You need to earn it (stay alive until this point/hook survivors before last gen pops) and you call it "big brain" to be actually able to totally turn the perk off? I call that bullshit mechanics

  • This „exploit“ has been in the game and is well known for years, just saying.

You could wait to pop the last gen until after the killer hooks, or before he downs the survivor in chase. Seems a lot more difficult (impossible?) for solo queue teams to coordinate this though.

Maybe there’s room for improvement for our solo queue friends. Like a little adrenaline icon next to the survivor’s face in the hud, if they are in chase and there is one gen remaining?

Maybe also show the icon if they are downed with one gen remaining?

Considering same logic, devs should implement something to fully circumvent fully-stacked "no way out" that by no means can take more then 5*4=20s (and could be potentially done in those 5s if all 4 survivors do that counter-tactics), because that's by the same logic also fair.

They do consider that fair... Hence there are no mutually exclusive survivor perks...

Most people don't understand the concept of "fair play". Let us define that term as : having as much fun when a power or ability is used against us as when we use it against someone else. In addition any power or ability should have some form of counter so that someone playing against you can either anticipate or prevent you from using that ability.

Adrenaline having a built in counter where the killer can drop you is fair. Want to know why? You failed to equip Soul Guard. If you had that perk and the killer immediately hit you then you would have gotten endurance and possibly had a chance to escape as a result.
