For the 1 million and 7 times, the Boon mechanic is fine

I still can't believe there are still people trying to kill the boons. You are creating too many problems for a mechanic where only ONE of the perks is broken or was it depending on the new nerf ( CoH).

SHOULD THE KILLER BE ABLE TO PERMANENTLY DESTROY THE BOONS? NO.

Imagine bringing a perk like Boon: exponential which is a very situational perk by the way that can be destroyed by the killer. Does not make sense.

SHOULD BOONS LOSE POWER EACH TIME THEY ARE PLACED? NO.

Imagine bringing a perk like Boon: dark theory which is an ok perk that weakens every time it is placed, imagine you using it with 1% speed bonus. Beware killer mains, you will never be able to catch me due to this perk because I AM THE SPEEEEEEED.

SHOULD BOONS HAVE TOKENS AND LOSE EACH ONE WHEN USED BY A SURVIVOR? NO.

imagine bringing a perk like Boon: shadow step that according to theory would have 3-5 tokens, you would automatically lose 1 token by simply activating the boon? or lose 1 token every time someone enters the boon radius and leaves? if someone accidentally entered the radius and left soon after you would lose 1 token for free because in theory you would be using it.

SHOULD CoH BE DELETED? YES.

BOONS ARE FINE.

  • I think, if killers could place and replace hex totems just like survivors do with boons, then no one would complain about boons...

I always find it funny when people here make claims with so much confidence even though they're easily proven to be false.

"Survivor strong perks haven't been nerfed..."

    • DS - at least 3 nerfs since creation
    • BT - nerfed, used to give BT to the unhooked as well
    • Buffed boil over - Nerfed
    • Mettle of Man - nerfed
    • Circle of Healing - Nerfed twice

Like....what are you even saying? What's the point of making outrageous statements not based in any realm of facts (I could go on but that list should suffice)

D's and boiled over both got buffed before they get nerfed. Ds was the only reasonable nerf. Boil over will still be good and better than it was post nerf.

  • I mostly agree. The one issue I have is the token one. I feel like it should be everytime the boon is placed it loses a token rather then the boon being used. I think that would be more fair. They can even make it so that some boons have more tokens then others or make it so that so boons can get more tokens with certain actions such as unhooking.

  • SHOULD THE KILLER BE ABLE TO PERMANENTLY DESTROY THE BOONS? YES

Imagine bringing a perk like Hex:Ruin which is a very situational perk by the way that can be destroyed by the survivor. Does not make sense.

  • Can we fundamentally weaken Boons by adding a cooldown whenever the Boon is snuffed and then buff the Boons that are now too weak?

  • "Boons are fine when they are weak and nobody uses them" thread

Because those nerfs were made out of necessity whereas killer nerfs are made out of personal preference. The game could not have survived and grown without those survivor perks being nerfed. It's dying as it is. You know what didn't inhibit the game's growth or fun? Pop, Freddy, Hangman's, Discordance, Coup De Gras, Nemesis, Pinhead. Yet they were all nerfed, not because of balance issues but because survivor biased people didn't like them, and after mommy BHVR gave in, they got what they wanted.

You realize that survivors have only had 1 new meta perk in 4 years, which is CoH, currently getting nerfed to the level of Self-Care. Killers get a meta changing perk with almost every Killer release and if not meta, at least viable with other perks.

Killers are the ones that get babied by BHVR, not survivors.

  • The only thing I find strange is the timing in which the perks where introduced. We got boons. CoH bad everything els cool and then we got pentimento like here is a perk can run in xour hex builds that get cleansed 15 secs into game but because boons no one cleanses a totem

Killers are the ones that get babied by BHVR, not survivors.

And yet the Survivor meta is 10x stronger than the Killer meta.

Survivors get 18 perks across 4 characters. All second-chance perks.

Survivors have SWF with it's 200+ free perks.

But because the developers don't make yet more OP perks to change the Survivor meta; 'Killers are being coddled!'

How to say 'BHVR spoiled me and now I need the game to cater to my every whim or I'll think it's Killer-sided' in one post.

  • We all know CoH is broken and has shifted the meta of the game. But it’s not going anywhere. A good nerf they can give boons, though, is to kill their verticality. A SS/CoH boon placed high on some maps is just BS for killers to deal with.

  • The boon mechanic is not fine. Kicking a boon doesn't give the killer enough for the time it takes them to do it. Because the base counter play to boons is severely lacking, boons will either be broken beyond all reason like CoH is or too weak to be worth the perk slot with nothing in between. That's not a good place for them to be.

  • This content has been removed.
  • Boons shouldn't be able to be infinitely placed

Once per totem would be fair

What this is saying is that survivors haven't been worked on for 4 years. Do you really think it's ok that one side gets new usable stuff every 4 months and survivors don't even get looked at and are given useless perks every patch. I don't care who you are, anyone can see that is a problem. And yes, that's coddling by the developers and I think you know it.

And on top of that, survivors have to play Borrowed Time or Decisive Strike just to be able to play the game at high levels or they get tunneled out. It's stupid that survivors have no counter to Tunneling-off-hook-till-dead and face-camp unless they bring a perk in. So really, survivors have 3 perk slots they can use most times.

  • Boons are only ineffective for casual/low mmr games. at average to high mmr games boons will carry the entire game for survivors. This is the context missing from a lot of the comments i see here b/c the game is different depending on your mmr (excluding insane matches where survivor que times are long so the game will give them any killer).

After the hex undying nerf, hex perks reverted back to RNG whether or not they are useful. As far as meta, i typically only see hex perks on blights or a nurse in higher mmr. The only hex perk which didn't drop in value was NOED b/c killers know most survivors won't cleanse totems now.

However i'll see at least 1 boon perk in every game. So contrary to what some devs have said, boons were game changing. I do like the boons. But they should function more like the Hex perks. Make their ability strong but allow the killer to break the totem or snuff it. This was the idea behind Hex from the start, OP abilities which can be broken by survivors.

Rofl. Imagine calling the Survivor meta 'useless perks'. If that does not scream 'I'm upset I can't win 100% of my matches' then I dunno what does.

So really, survivors have 3 perk slots they can use most times.

You mean 12 perks. Since there's 4 Survivors meant to work as a team. But sure; the game is Killer sided, Survivors have 'useless perks' and Killers are able to tunnel. The game is sooooooo unfair for Survivors. They only get TWELVE second-chance perks if they want to counter tunneling! How HORRID! 🙄

(That's heavy sarcasm, btw. This game is completely Survivor-sided and your posts just scream 'I want even more Survivor power')

  • I said that survivors have gotten useless perks for 4 years, the only one that has been meta worthy is Circle of Healing. The developers can add and remove stuff from the survivor meta but they haven't and CoH is probably going to drop off the meta after this next patch, so it literally will be 4 years of nothing for survivors.

4 years ago they got Window of Opportunity, the last meta perk.

That's your personal opinion which I heavily disagree with and we can agree to disagree. But Freddy with jump rope and swing chains ABSOLUTELY broke the game. Nemesis is still too strong in my opinion. I forgot what the Pop nerf was but considering how it's still an A or S tier perk, it absolutely deserved a nerf. I'm pretty sure discordance never got nerfed???? They just changed how it functioned because the tier 1 version was better than the tier 3 if i remember correctly. Pinhead was hella busted on launch. Everything you listed pretty much received warranted nerfs. YOU just don't think they were and your personal opinion (as well as mine) are irrelevant

Quite honestly I think Dead Hard is a much bigger problem than any boon perk right now. I'm still in favor of introducing a limitation to the boon perks and balancing their effects accordingly though.

I'd be willing to argue that Dead Hard has more counterplay than boons though. At least DH has a timer between preventing spam and you can fake it out during an objective; chasing down survivors.

Boons you have to actively set aside other tasks and snuff them, either wasting more time to get to them or leaving them as is and dealing with that. There's no real permanent work around.

  • Give Killers the ability to relight their hexes, and we'll call it even.

  • No, it's not.

It should have a base cooldown at least like 60 seconds before you can bless it again.

It's annoying to snuff a totem to hear in the next few seconds the sound again. It wastes on avarage more killer's time than Survivors time because its 1/4 of Survivors total time.

boons aren't fine, you can think otherwise but adding them into the game was a giant mistake that devs did... honestly they should be like hexes: ETREMELY powerful but only usable once
