So where did the “nerf Spirit” threads go?

I remember back when there was at least one thread every single day on the forums that had something to do with Spirit. It was quite repetitive but ever since Spirit got bugged to where she can’t hear footsteps in phase, then the complaints are so rare to the point that everyone almost forgot about her.

So I just want to ask, why did people all of a sudden stop complaining about her? I assume it has something to do with the fact that barely anyone plays her anymore but what exactly has caused all of it to stop, for now at least?

  • I wouldn’t even play Spirit if that happened. It would be too easy and I find it enjoyable and rewarding tracking survivors without seeing them.

I don't think most do. It's just the ones that think trapper should be 110 or something are the ones that never shut the ######### up

Who the hell says Trapper should be 110???

  • For myself I’ve stopped complaining because the devs clearly don’t want to change her.

I mean they nerfed Stridor (unnecessary nerf imo) which was oppressive on Spirit so who knows? Knowing BHVR they’ll gut her if they did change her.

Yeah if they do get around to changing her I hope it’s just slight base kit nerfs and some major add on nerfs. That’s all she really needs.

Trickster is 10x more frustrating to go against anyway so spirit has fallen to the wayside for me

Yeah because whenever survivors get destroyed by one thing constantly, they immediately screams for nerfs forgetting everything else that could be a problem.

True. first was DS, now is Dead Hard, I wonder if people will cry about sprint burst next maybe?

Spirit’s base kit needs an indicator she’s phasing, but I’m pretty sure everyone knows that at this point. As for add ons, Mother-Daughter Ring needs a nerf, duration add ons need to be tweaked to where they don’t offer high recovery speed as well, and as for activation speed add ons, they don’t need a nerf but something for the survivors to tell that the Spirit has them. That’s what I’d do with her.

Also yeah, whenever I hear Trickster’s lullaby at the start of the match, I dread in knowing that I’ll waste 10 minutes of my life in a boring DBD match.

In my personal case, don´t see much spirits nowadays. But spirit still the killer I hate the most. She still needs a nerf propperly, not dependable on Iron Will. That was not an adequate nerf.

Spirit is fine, sounds just need to be fixed and we all good

I agree that killers complain as much as survivors do, but there is one difference between them. Killers, more frequently than survivors, have a better argument for their complaints. They don’t just come here like a lot of survivor mains do and say survivor op, nerf them. Many explain the issue and why it’s a problem, whereas lots of survivors just attack the killer players and call them bad without having a reasonable argument.

I’d love to hear some evidence for this completely ridiculous take

I don't think that's necessarily true. I have seen some good arguments from survivors ad to why Spirt should be nerfed as well as other topics. Similarly I have seen killers give irrational arguments on topics.

I don't think it's fair to limit that to only one side.

  • It's because the 0 skill players who used stridor with her(80% of spirit users in high ranks) don't know what to do now without their cute training wheels, survivors like Iron will and all of a sudden they get juked to death cause they don't have their broken perk anymore to win their games for them.

I play both roles equally. Spirit is just broken and easy for use even by my 10 year old brother if i'll give him headphones.

The spirit cry babies are crying for losing their precious stridor cause they're getting juked to death

I guess you're one of the spirit mains who cry for getting juked by Iron will users and no more easy downs cause " I HaVE StRiDOr NoW 4K PlZ"

Nah. Spirits who don't use stridor are actually good players who enjoy some easy to learn killer that still needs some good tracking and guessins skills.

You can't appreciate Spirit with stridor compared to a god blight or a nurse, cause everyone knows that a mentally braindead person can play them.

You don't see spirits now because of the bugs and because most of them(4/5 spirits I've encountered had stridor in red ranks) lost their free baby wheels that gave them free kills.

So if most spirit I've faced used stridor on an already strong af killer, so yes most spirits players are bad.

    NO.

Spirit who is already a strong killer that everyone hate cause of no proper counterplay, had a perk that ruined her only counterplay.

Sure, but there was a reason Stridor was nefred. you know why? cause every bad player could be a boosted spirit, give him another killer and he'll struggle even in purple ranks.

Stridor rewarded braindead gameplay on spirit and now it opened up some nice matches. I also played spirit to rank 1 and i can say she was very easy to learn and master but I never used Stridor on her. for me using stridor on spirit is like using noed.

Yeah because whenever survivors get destroyed by one thing constantly, they immediately screams for nerfs forgetting everything else that could be a problem.

The issue with game balance (map design) is being addressed slowly, and in almost every case, terribly. So killers like spirit, slinger, etc. will become more common over time so long as their current map designer remains in that position. They have proven, time and time again, that the bulk of their development team doesn't have the will or understanding (likely neither) to get the game into a better state.

What some folks might not realize, is that if maps get into a better spot, killers like spirit, nurse, etc. might have to be changed for the sake of game balance lest they dominate even more than they already do.

You can really get to rank 1 with any killer with ease. It’s a BS ranking system and he devs themselves have acknowledged that countless times, so that’s not really a fair argument. I’ve got to rank 1 for the first time with Pig.

Breaks my heart to see someone with a Meg pfp hate Spirit. I love both of them as they were my first survivor main and killer main respectively.

I like the art concept of Spirit. I like the killer and her mechanic. It´s just that is too abusive to play against, specially on Solo Q. Also, a big proportion of spirit players is hard camp tunnelers. Spirit is great for that. Great movility and good track on survs (specially on injured ones). Thtas why I hate her.

  • oh she is buggued right now ? i assume it was because devs buffed Iron Will and nerf the combo Spirit+Stridor. I don't actually remember the last time i faced a Spirit. Maybe not even once in my last 50 matches as survivor.

  • People complain about the killer they see too much of and has an inordinate amount of wins compared to other killers, excluding Nurse. Wraith is just easy mode and replaced Freddy in the 'lazy killer player that isn't actually good' category. That's not to say Wraith players aren't good, I'm saying people that aren't very good at the game and aren't at the rank they should be (but have egos) will mostly pick Wraith as he's almost always a guaranteed Public Match stomper, like Freddy was until people suddenly decided he wasn't worthy (even though he's barely changed).

Blight is very easy to win with as his power is indeed skilful, but you do not need skill to be semi-competent with him. Bump, rush, hit before they get to a pallet. Easy. No need for fancy flicks or anything. Coupled with the baby slowdown build and survivors are never getting stuff done. He's replaced spirit in the higher-end stuff, lesser used than Wraith but far more oppressive. Luckily being semi-competent is sometimes not enough and they get absolutely rolled despite their laughable attempts to stack everything in their favour.

May I have the statistics you're referring to? When were they?

Because the only ones I find are a month and a half after his release. Not only was he new, but he also had the FOV of Victor which made him massively unappealing to play. People didn't know how to play him and he was overall uncomfortable. Now the FOV is normal and plenty of streamers have picked him up. Besides, I never felt like he was difficult to 4k with beyond his map dependency. His unique tricks however are difficult.

So if you have better statistics, please share. If you're referring to those I'm talking about, you're spreading about as much misinformation as the devs did with their fallacious interpretation of data regarding Object of Obsession.

EDIT: By your argument, Nurse is then very hard to win with. Which isn't true. Share is difficult to pick up and many people struggle to learn her. But she is by far the easiest to 4k with a bit of practice. Blight can be considered the same except getting decent with him is easier but mastering him is harder than nurse (IMO)

Ok fine. He’s still got an insanely high skill ceiling and the people that can 4k the majority of their matches have put in the time and effort and/or use Ruin Undying Tinkerer Pop every game. He does have an insanely high skill ceiling. But so does Huntress. Huntress is, and I mean no disrespect to the mains, very easy to pick up and use. You'll take a few matches to get used to but otherwise it's just 'Hold and throw, hold longer to throw harder' and that's all you need to win in most games, even red ranks. Of course cross maps and learning curve angles is pretty skilful is COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY to win games. I've adept her with no issue without ever truly investing much time into her.

This is the same with Blight. You won't be doing crazy flicks, or be using super angle mind games or even mega brain speedy outplays. You don't need to. You just need to know how to pressure a whole map and hit someone out-positioned while you're rushing. Like huntress, he isn't that hard TO USE after a few games. He is VERY HARD to master. Especially with how ######### maps are.

Also, you've said it, the Ruin Undying Pop madness is what's boosting all these Blights for the most part. Which is what I'm saying. You can suck with Blight, but the moment you can use his mobility to mild usage, you can oppress even decent teams with this build.

I think we agree here, just that we aren't seeing the skill curve the same with with Blight, which is fine, experiences are different.

Only using Blight’s power for mobility is easy but you’re underestimating how much skill it takes to use it to down someone. It’s all about map knowledge, planning ahead on which objects to hit, understanding which objects you can or can’t collide off of, and even understanding how to hit the survivor with your power. If you don’t have the practice to do that, you’re just an M1 killer which as we know is a reason why Pig and Legion are so weak. Yes with Ruin Undying Tinkerer Pop, that’s a very oppressive build and anyone can win with it but even then, survivors have Dead Hard, Decisive Strike, Unbreakable and a few other perks that can be oppressive to go against.

As for Huntress, it’s not as simple as throwing a hatchet. You still have to aim, predict what survivors are going to do, and understand when to lift a hatchet and when to M1. It’s all very depth so I don’t exactly agree that she’s super easy to pick up.

I personally think there is quite a bit of overestimation of how much skill is really needed to play these killers somewhat competently. Or rather the line between 'being good' and 'being decent' isn't as clear. NONE of these killers are hard to just pick up in my opinion, though Blight is frustrating on some maps, even with map knowledge as you can see is a problem even among the best Blights as they end up sliding randomly when they shouldn't.

I never felt like they were difficult to use and I am very much in EU red ranks (if region means anything). But then again, nothing in DBD is actually difficult for me. Perhaps my standard may be a bit skewed. Still, with little practice I've been comfortable using 0 slowdown on Blight. I'm sorry but apart from timing your hits he just doesn't feel that difficult. Harder than Nurse, sure, but she's a bit overrated (to learn) in my honest opinion.

Ultimately it comes down to experience and how one sees difficulty. Given how popular Blight is among the masses, I feel like my perspective's been re-enforced, but it could just be the cheese builds doing all the work.

I guess if you put it in the way that they’re level of difficulty to pick up can be fairly low but still, there’s so many advanced things that will require the player to learn to become a master at. It seems like we’re both talking about different things as mastering and picking up are two completely different things.

With Nurse, she’s the hardest killer to pick up and up there to be the hardest to master. With Hag imo, she’s hard to pick up because of how different she plays from every other killer but after learning how her traps work and having map knowledge to set a good web takes barely any time to master once you do pick her up.

This is my idea for a "nerf":

    Increase power recharge time base,

Give a visual queue for when she is phasing,

Increase recharge time if missing a hit,

Slow down base movement speed (I don't think she is a 110% movement speed killer rn, if she isn't then she should become that).

    But:

    Bring back collision,

    Increase speed boost,

Decrease power recharge time on a successful hit

    She's 110

And they moved on to Wraith, even though he’s not a problem at all.

  • The changed Stridor and Iron Will is a meta perk that makes Stridor useless. So there’s more you can attempt to do in a chase. Not to mention that she’s bugged all to hell and can’t hear footsteps so a survivor with Iron Will is dead silent while phasing. She’s not that big of a deal at her current state.

The increase of Blight and Wraith have become more of an annoyance toward players.

I believe Blight and Wraith are only complained about because people lose to them. They’re not issues at all.

Blight I only have an issue with because I see him constantly and I’m tired of seeing him and every Blight runs the same tired build that you expect from all of them. It’s so predictable. Overall I find him not a very fun killer but he doesn’t need any changes besides Alchemist Ring.

Wraith I just despise his playstyle. I’ve ALWAYS hated Wraith even back in 2018. I hate hit and run and that’s Wraith in a nutshell. He’s honestly not that different than Spirit besides the fact that you can see Wraith and attempt to use counterplay. Both go invisible (Wraith only past 24 meters), both have an omega lunge out of their power, and both have good map traversal abilities. Spirit just has less counterplay due to the fact that you’re guessing.

I’m not saying Blight and Wraith need huge changes but people are seeing them A LOT more and they don’t particualry have the more enjoyable playstyles :/

    Those are fair points.
