if all perks should have counter then...

Stridor, yes all this topic is about. 3 points and a last one wich is just my opinion.

1- You have Iron will wich covers the pain noises wich aswell should also have a counter and that is stridor the thing is, what counters stridor then? because Iron will definitelly doesnt. shouldnt they cancel eachother instead and make survivors sound normal? because i dont think is neccesary to create a perk that counters stridor when you can tweak Iron will a bit..

2- And now after that introduction lets be realistic lets the Real talk beggin, most cases is used by Spirit, since is the only realistic killer who gets real benefits from it making a killer with very sutil counterplay pretty much uncounterable, especailly if u decided to buy yourself a decent headset.

3-the thing is not about a RANT to nerfing spirit hard, i never said that, but instead changing stridor (wich is a way easier thing to do than changing much a killer) a bit even if doesnt really deserve it because its one killer and shouldnt punish other killers but this last thing i said YOU KNOW, you just know that is an stupid argument wich doesnt work IN THIS SITUATION, because if u read at least a bit of what i said and BEING REALISTIC, because reality should always prevail to theory, facts are facts, out of 10 times how often you see stridor in any other killer that is not spirit?. or doesnt have more than 1 to 3 perks because that killer CLEARLY is being leveled up and doesnt have any other perk to use?.

so the last point wich is out of the covnersation

4- this change is not hurting spirit much, this also still helps spirit players because they can still hear survivors with IRON WILL but at a normal sound levels (wich of course is still extremely easy for spirit to hear, the only reason spirits run stridor is because of iron will otherwise most likely they wouldnt) thats is indeed another big fact, i wouldnt run it if i can hear survivors normally with my decent headset, only iron will is preventing me of getting rid of it from my builds the couple of times that i played spirit, (still p3 50 spirit just that i got bored of her long time ago) so going back to the point and not just a rant over spirit, the perk should get more counter (stridor) after that BHVR can do the changes they consider to spirit better, but this is an SMALL VERY SMALL start, since you are not touching the killer but instead a perk that HAS NO COUNTER, or at least its prevailing because numbers are there you see stridor prevailing over iron will when no perk should prevail over the other and most likely something in between wich is NORMAL SOUND LEVELS, then if the survivor doesnt even have iron will WELL, that survivor has even less to do than what he had already but at least you could potentailly try something if you are using a quiet character, maybe.

thats it.

  • Even though it won't directly affect Spirit, a lot less people will play her due to their reliance on the perk. Same thing as Freddy. A lot less people play him after his slowdown addons were reworked.

  • All perks don't need a counter.

they should just get better at her then, lots of people stopped playing billy and nurse after they got changed but the thing is, they changed the killer not perks, so i dont think lots of people would leave because u are not making survivors impossible to get heard just making it normal, as i said increasing the skill cap is not a bad thing, lots of people couldnt live without insta saw, crack billy and omega blink nurse, so they left and good ones prevailed... those thing were very strong no, the next to very strong and needed to be nerfed.

now we are talking about a perk that needs to be changed due how the game current state is. You cant rely on a perk to play a killer, and about Freddy, they nerfed his addons wich if u know how much those addons afected speeds because it seems you dont were minimal, watch Otzdarva vid about how much it regressed things, purple was 2% each surv on dream world and the green one was around 4% even thana was better to those addons actually if 3 survs were injured but still.... i play freddy and i still stomp with Freddy and never needed addons anyway (or thana), because they didnt touch what was needed and that is snares... snares still do the same you can still place 2 snares in each side and that survivor will get hit IF DOESNT DROP the pallet. i would like to ask you from where did u get that "lots of freddy players stopped playing him" from, becuase its not my case and for anyone that had any knowdelege about how to play him.

but they do, all perks should have counter and most of them do have another perk that counters it or big requirements, they do have counterplay that may be a mechanic in the game or another perk, for example DS doesnt have now a counterplay with another perk but has requirements that need to be filled for example to work or are deactivated by doing stuff. So it does have a counter, even gamestyle counterplay (compared to what used to be months ago it just that took too much time) even a better case for example you have Self care, self care is countered heavily by for example Self care wich gets countered heavily by Nurse is calling for example) you take the risk to get found for example.

No, they shouldn't. Stridor spirit isn't anymore problematic than regular spirit. Iron will counters stridor to an extent, so it's fine.

75% of Freddy players relied on the Forever Freddy build to win. The build isn't an issue anymore with his addons being reworked and dying light being reworked. I, personally, haven't played against a single Freddy since the changes, but played against him nearly every other day before his "nerf." The changes to his snares didn't even do anything. The survivor will pretty much get hit regardless of what they do, especially if they aren't on the side of the loop with the pallet.

  • Iron will+ No Mither counters Stridor

Why you'd do this is beyond me, but its technically an option

I already responded this, also missleading the point of the post.

  • But... Stridor is the counter to Iron Will.

There are four survivors, and all four can theoretically run the same perk. There's only one killer. There's a back-and-forth, but it's a 1v4 so you can't have a bunch of stuff that all 4 survivors can run be stronger than what the killer has, you need the 1 to be about as strong as the 4 combined. Stridor counters Iron Will. NOED counters Adrenaline. Not every perk needs a counter, but when one perk counters another it usually needs to favor the killer.

Crazy rant aside, why should all perks have a counter? You have mentioned that several times without backing it up with anything.

Not every perk needs a counter, some are weak enough to warrant not having counterplay or have strong conditions that need to be met in order to use it.

  • Strider is only op on spirit. But let's be fair not every perk has counters, what about dead hard when in front of a pallet or vault, BT next to an exit gate, ds when downed at an exit gate etc.

  • Not all perks have counters. Spine chill doesn't.

Then iron will needs to have normal breathing work your silent when its active

  • Im not sure what you want. When the breathing without Iron will and stridor is 100%, how loud (in percent) should the breathing be with stridor and iron will?

  • @MrCrazyCat62 said:

it actually does, because i also talked about gameplay mechanics, not looking to the gen while going there can do teh trick so is not like it doesnt have counterplay also the perk is good but doesnt really tell where the killer is or from where will he appraach.

i literally said in the comment, those perks shouyld cancel each other if they do survivors should sound around normal wich allows something of counterplay if the spirit is not that great so it doesnt get carried by stridor that much.

Have you considered moonwalking to the gen? Just because a perk's counter isn't yet another perk, doesn't mean that there isn't a counter.

Wait what people left billy and nurse because there power actively hurt the learning and exploration process of playing the killer. I keep seeing the instasaw omega blink nurse assumption. But i played dbd through that period most were using spark plugs and a wide variety of his add ons. Bumper billy had a following.

NOT EVERY PERSON WHO DROPPED BILY AND NURSE WERE THERE FOR OP ADD ONS. They simply dont like to be locked out of there power for prolonged periods of time. Perks hard countering a killers power is garbage design. Yes you can hate spirit i agree short phasing with a spirit should be punished more with longer cds so theres actually a risk with ending your power early. But making a perk that is mandatory for beating a killer is a terrible idea. Perks should help not win the game.

  • Not all perks have counters and they don't necessarily need one either. Some perks are just perfectly fine as is without a counter. They're just not problematic. For example: Detectives Hunch, new Object, Visionary, Unrelenting, Deerstalker, ...

They don't need counters because they're just not gamebreaking perks. Stridor as a perk isn't gamebreaking either. It only becomes problematic because of Spirit, so Spirit should be changed and not the perk. Nerfing Stridor won't take care of the million problems of Spirit, it will only take care of one problem, but in doing so the perk itself becomes more garbage than it already is on every other killer.

  • I hate toxic perks like Furtive Chase with no counter. OP

about this is intersting what you said about gamebreaking perks and i agree with that, bad perks dont really need a counter because people wont even ask for them if there is no need, but stridor is a gamebreaking perk USED with spirit, only on her and the reason why ive said changing the perk is just because was way easier than changing a killer, if they change spirit even better but changing stridor seemed to more realistic in the short term and for real it would help a decent amount.
