How much of a effect have things which you can get with bloodpoints and are one time use on a match?
This is about item/addons/offerings.
Recently i played with a friend who is new to Dbd. He has the game since 2018 for free with Playstation plus, but never played it.
We played survivor and a myers had tombstone piece. So explained what it was and how you could get it. Wr talked about more addons, offerings etc. He didnt like the idea that he had a disadvantage bc he has not many bloodpoints.
I personally think there are only a few addons which change a killer drastically. But i can understand him.
So in your experience how much of a difference make consumable items like offering, addons, items etc? Which have the most impact on the match?

How is it a pay-to-win system when the only way to get bloodpoints is through playing the game. You cannot purchase bloodpoints, nor can you purchase the Iridescent Shards to get bloodpoints in the Shrine, so I fail to see how this is pay-to-win.
Grind-to-win, yes, and I don't see a problem there.
PayPlay To Win is the only way to get bpGrind to win.
But also pay to win.
Pay and then grind to win.
One of the strongest killers, Freddy, is behind a paywall. Best perks in the game, BBQ and DS, are behind a paywall. And don't tell me about the shrine: if you want to get them in a definite amount of time, you have to buy DLC. So yeah, the game is both grind- and pay-to-win.
Nurse is still considered to be the strongest killer and she is free. Huntress is up there and she is also free. You don't need DS or BBQ to win. There are a lot of tracking perks. Some I say are even better than BBQ. If DS is the only reason you escaped then you need to practice being a better survivor.
Now Ruin+Undying, PGTW and Corrupt Intervention on the other hand. Yeah those are DLC and practically needed at higher ranks. A 4k can be done but it is certainly difficult. Survivors would have to screw up or really get out played.
in addition to this, the post was about bloodpoint gains. you cannot pay your way to more bloodpoints. "oh but bbq-" WGLF is on David King, a free character. you get the bp effect of bbq with a yellow offering. you cannot pay your way to more bloodpoints no matter what you say. there is nowhere in the store where you can buy bloodpoints or shards.
dbd is not pay-to-win.
Everything you just said does not refute my point. BBQ is still the best killer perk, and DS is the metaest of all meta survivor perks. Nurse and huntress take ages to learn, and Freddy is "ez win out of the box" kind of killer.
And I didn't even mention the fact that you will eventually have to buy those DLCs that you can buy with shards, since grinding shards for them would take more than several thousand hours of playtime. The grinwall is so high that you don't have any other choice but to buy them if you want to unlock them all within a year.
Really? I make this long post and you are complaining about the wording. Is that neccessary? I thought its obvious that i doesnt mean pay to win with money. Is my post not clear enough?
Are you trolling me right now?
The closest thw game gets to p2w is buying dlc to make the perks easier to access instead of just hoping one of a hundred just happens to appear in the shrine, and even if you buy the dlc you still need to grind
No, I'm not. You say the game is pay-to-win, several times, and it's nowhere near.
but okay.
no, in my opinion the game isn't too much grind to win. it's too grindy, yes, but not too grind-to-win.
Yh i know. But i asked for items purchased with bloodpoints. No real money involved. Whats your opinion on the difference they make?
Several times? I did write the words pay to win two times. Two times in a question. So i said never that the game is pay to win.
The first time in the title i said pay to win WITH BLOODPOINTS. And the second time is the last sentence, so everyone should understand the context when they would have read the entire post.
So you are either lazy, not the smartest or a troll.
Pay2Win means real life money and always has. That term/phrase has never meant anything but.
Geeze man, your OP was confusing because of the way you worded it. Own up to it and don't get hostile when people comment with the assumption that you meant what you said. (Yesb you were talking about bloodpoints, but because you kept saying pay to win, I had assumed you thought there was a way to get BPs with money)
To answer your question, no, i don't believe its too much play-to-win. Anybody in any rank could have all the perks/items/add-one they need or none of them, completely based on if the character they play is their main or they are new to them.
I hover around rank 10 and just got a bunch of new killers I've barely leveled. Im not gonna be mad at someone else who had primo perks and add one when I don't, they worked to get them. Sometimes you gotta suck with someone for a while before you build up a pool of resources to be more competitive.
The only real meta survivor perk behind a paywall is DS. You get unbreakable, BT, dead hard, sprint burst, iron will, and we’re gonna live forever all included in the base game.
Killer is a different story. Though it’s been shown many times you can still hit rank 1 with no perks or addons.
Plus, you survivors have chests so you can get free items, and even add on's with the right perks. Killers can only get them from the bloodweb, so survivors have even less of an argument in this arena
All i can say is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzrczKCE_GkNo I'm being serious, you can't buy bp with money. The only way you can get bp is by playing the game:
There is no option to buy bp so it cant be p2w
I wouldnt have a problem when its the first time that it happened. Yesterday i got laughed at bc they thought i think myers is too strong and needs a nerf. I just said in a discussion that tombstone piece is one of the strongest addons in the game. Just bc they didnt read it right. And when i pointed that out, they said it was my fault.
Then i had some discussions where people only read the title and talk about something different. Mostly its escalates in a killer vs survivor discussion and my question gets never answered.
I thought "pay to win with bloodpoints" would be a interesting and funny title, but i see its not. But whatever i dont care anymore, this discussion is a time waste anyway.
I mean, people have been answering your question. I see the kind of forum user you are: if people aren't vehemently agreeing with me, they're all jerks and I wasted my time.
I see the kind of person you are. You have your assumptions and believe in them. You think you are always the smart guy and you know everything.
How can you know whether they agree or disagree with me, when i never stated my opinion? I have everything consumable you can earn with bloodpoints like addons and i dont even use it. I could go in every match and use what i want. But when i say to my friend, that i with over 2000 hours have no problems, its not very convincing. So i just wanted a bigger sample size, bc i know my point of view is not helpful
And i know that some, even the one who started this "pay to win" discussion, answered my question, but thats the minority.
Even though you pay for the add-ons/perks/offerings with bloodpoints, the only way to get bloodpoints is by playing so it isn't a pay to win game.
Yh i know. But how much do addons/offering/items (things which disappear after the match) increase your chance of winning? (I dont mean this as counter-argument, its just a question for your opinion)
Strongest killers beneath Freddy in the top 4 are Spirit and Nurse. This is kinda common opinion. Depending on opinion, the last one would be Billy, Huntress or Hag. That would be 2 purchaseable with playtime shards and 3 being OG or free DLCs.
So I guess that one killer behind a paywall is perfectly fine, isn't it?
And regarding the perks, I think every perk you mentioned has been on the shrine for at least 4 times. This may take a bit longer, but you still always have the ability to get them in a reasonable amount of time
You can earn 25k from tutorial for each side. It's a small boost for beginner, but better than nothing.
I was about to argue on this one, because everything you said has nothing to do with p2w so it refutes your point very well.
But then I read "several thousand hours" and couldn't take you serious anymore. On a rough average, you can unlock one character per 60 hours of gametime...
I don't think that new players should use these addons at all because you need to learn the base mechanics first. Running a Tombstone on a player that has like 5 hours on Myers would be wasted in my humble opinion. So this is not a disatvantage at all
So having strong killers and perks locked behind a paywall and a grindwall which can be bypassed by buying DLCs is not p2w? mkay.
>On a rough average, you can unlock one character per 60 hours of gametime...
Yeah, I have 400 hours of playtime and so far earned just enough shards to unlock 2 killers and several perks. Even if it were 60 hours per character, it would still be insanely long, but in reality it's much longer. Imagine you want to unlock every non-DRM character, say, within a year, how are you going to achieve that without buying DLC? It's probably mathematically possible, but I'd love to see someone do it.
No, having equally or stronger killers available for free or playtime currency is the way to bypass p2w. mkay?
then you basically idle in bloodwebs or whatever, the steam stats don't count pure trial time, it counts "game is executing" time. your decision if you regard 60 hours as insanely long, I think it is pretty fair. to get to the most important meta perks you mentioned before it only takes you 200 to max 300 hours. and it is not about unlocking every character if you talk about p2w, stay on topic please, this argument is irrelevant.
and most of all, your "thousands of hours" statement from before is still ridiculous BS. sorry, it just is BS. DBD simply is no p2w
No, having equally or stronger killers available for free or playtime currency is the way to bypass p2w. mkay?
This is exactly why the term "grindwall" came to life: if the game has an option to grind something for eternity and to just buy it instantly, it's commonly called "p2w", even if there is a way to eventually get it without paying money. You waste several years grinding for stuff, or you just pay up and get it all unlocked instantly: pay and win with newly unlocked strong stuff, hence p2w.

To get DS and BBQ in a definite amount of time you have to buy DLC, since you have no control over the shrine, and it can take your from a couple of weeks to several years waiting for it. Waiting for the shrine is in the essence the same as grinding. You have to log in regularly, you have to wait a long time. It may be less exhausting than actually grinding for something, but it's still in the same spirit. For example, the last time BBQ appeared there was in the 38th week of 2020. The last time before that was in the 47th week of 2019. So it took 61 weeks to get it after the second last time it appeared, it's more than a year. Getting perks with the shrine in a definite amount of time is impossible, if your "definite amount of time" is not counted in years. If this is not an argument for you, then I'm not even sure what is.
And yeah, you still haven't said anything about Freddy. An easy to play strong killer in DLC is not p2w just because there is a stronger free killer, which would take months if not years to learn? Is that all?
Every killer and perk you mention shifts gameplay and playstyle BUT NOT massively if you win or not. Otz has a full beginner video for killer builds that completely ignores teachables, just your own 3 teachables and common perks! and every build is decently good.
Pay2Win means that you will HEAVILY struggle to win against players that put money into the game, the fact is that you will HEAVILY struggle against players that put more hours into the game, no matter how much money you spent to counter that! What do you think why matchmaking is such a problem right now? Because the non pay gamers are put against the pay gamers? A whole team of players with 50 hours can spent as much money they want, they will never win against an Otz/Tofu/Puppers/Whoever perkless nurse!
I really think you really never played a real p2w title if you call DBD p2w!
