the add on change was completely unnecessary.

and dumb. as survivor it's hard to get specific add ons from bloodweb because of all the items and offerings and trash add ons. killers don't have items so they get add ons a lot more easily. as survivor it's also hard to get bloodpoints. what is the point? when you escape you should keep the item and add ons. because half or more of the time you don't even escape. so please just revert the change, people shouldn't be forced to run ace in the hole just so you may keep your add ons if you escape.. it was already hard enough to get add ons as survivor. pretty sure no one would be hurt, there was no actual game affecting effect on getting to keep your add ons you spent your bloodpoints on. and that is only if you escape after all.

  • Why do you even bring items? let alone those with add ons?

    why do you use perks?

  • Survivors don't need item or add ons to be fair. I personally never bring them unless i find something in game and forget to unequip it.

Killers on the otherhand are almost all add on reliant. Yes there are those that do just fine without them, but the majority of the players aren't.

Killer don't keep them unless they burn an offering.

Although i feel like if you don't use your item the add ons shouldn't be lost.

  • i dont get what the problem is here, killers have been losing their add ons after a game ever since the release of DbD.

they are a one time use now and thats fine by me. brings the two roles a little closer together.

BHVR could just make killers not be so add-on reliant.

Actually, that's what they should be doing in the first place.

Add-ons in my opinion are best used when they tweak the properties of something in weird but unique ways. Makes the game both more interesting (for both sides), and y'know, makes killers have more choice to be competitive than hoarding the add-ons that makes them less crappy. Like Wraith and his reappearance add-ons. It sucks to have to burn a purple and green offering (11k BP) every game to be competitive with him.

    Completely agree with you.

Killers shouldnt need add ons. And they should change the ability somewhat.

Example would be freddy's pallet add ons. It changes the killer slightly making gameplay very different.

Yeah, look at TF2 for instance. The basic gear for each class is normally their best, and all the other items you can unlock for them simply change their play-style. In DBD, the base killer is by far the worst, and add-ons are just a straight buff. The only killer with add-on balancing similar to TF2's equipment balancing is Nurse, who had many add-ons that change the way she is played.

It would be very nice to see more killers' add-ons be balanced in a similar way to Nurse's, but with how slowly the devs are reworking them (and how the recent doctor rework still left his base-kit as the worst one), I have very little faith in that happening

  • There's no reason to level multiple survivors outside of getting teachable perks and survivors can just stockpile all of their items and addons on a single survivor indefinitely, as their are no gameplay differences between them. In contrast, killer players have to spread their BP across multiple killers, obtaining optimal loadouts on them all unless he wants to 1-trick the exact same killer every game.

Increased killer BP gain per game is no excuse for add-on retention disparity.

And yes, this DOES affect gameplay, contrary to your claim. I remember the one time there was a 3x BP event (and BHVR stated that they'd never do one again). The game was screwed for months, with BNPs, instaheals, and purple keys nearly every game. The BP / item / add-on economy does matter.

and you're only mentioning the survivor items. killers could level up too, u know? here again (other comments too) we see this forum is made for killers to whine because they're the people who got everything for free when they were kids and now they're salt spamming forums when they had to use their brain cells. god i cant stand people like that, everything should just be handed over on a plate for them and they would still complain.

    The difference is:

Killers only have Add Ons, Survivors have Items AND Add Ons. And while this also goes for Killers, a lot of the Survivor Add Ons are useless. Now, as Killer you have 20 Add Ons, while as Survivor you have almost three times the number of Add Ons and Items.

Furthermore, an okish Killer game is a really good Survivor game, when it comes to BPs. AND Killers have it easier to get double BP with BBQ, compared to WGLF. When using WGLF you not only sacrifice a Perk Slot for Double BP, but also have to go out of your way to get those Stacks. With BBQ you get Aura Read (which is not useful on any Killer, this is true) and get your Stacks for playing the game.

With BBQ, one Killergame is a Level 50 Bloodweb. This cannot be said for a Survivor. Like, I got 3 Stitched Bags with my Trapper in one Bloodweb. Cannot say that for some Survivor Add Ons I would like to have...

The funny thing is - it was always told that Killer get more BPs, because they lose their Add Ons. Fair enough, in my opinion. But why should they get more BPs now?

If we want to bring the two roles closer together, we should remove the double BP-Part from BBQ (or tie it to a more difficult action) and give Killers around 30 Add Ons, which they dont want to have.

    @Topic:

The only reason for this change was to cater to Killers. Just in a way "Look, we are nerfing Survivors". There is no real logical thought behind it.

At least escaping does not feel rewarding anymore, so I could care even less if I escape or not.

    ?

You're the one who sounds like they're "salt spamming forums" (as you put it). I argued against your claims and you immediately jumped to personal insults and baseless assumptions. Stop projecting. Just because others do not agree with you does not mean that temper tantrums are called for.

But if you really want to talk about "people who got everything for free when they were kids" and expect more free things handed to them, then why are you arguing that you should keep your addons for free without paying for it with a perk slot?

  • Well if you are running no perks but an item with add ons, more power to ya, but if you run both....how much help do you need....

  • The "kILleRZ gEt MoRE bLuoUDpoIntZ iTz NoT fAiR!!1!!!" survivor-meme is still around, I see...

they are part of the game? what the hell :D why wouldn't people use items and stuff if they exist in the game so people could use them?

most killers are not add on reliant. at least not my main killers. or maybe you're just bad? i don't know but cant see anyone other than a few exceptions being add on "reliant"

  • It's an economical problem. Good survivors will get a huge load of items, but nearly no good addons for them, because they get items in their bloodwebs. It would be comparable with a killer getting his own power icon in 30% of the bloodweb.

No need to get silly, Do you want to take candy from a baby or have a fun challenging equal match so that doing well actually means something?

I think items for survivors are just an extra layer of skewing the mathc in their favor, so if you do well....yeah uhh good job?

I know cheating is not part of the game, or any game, but like if you complete idk Doom with godmode on, like....what did you even do? unless you purely care for the story in a game I guess but otherwise why even play games....

  • I don't ever use items, I do perfectly fine without them lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • @ZoneDymo all ill say is that some people enjoy knowing they ruined someone else's fun

because i don't see anything good or bemefitting for the game of this change.

Its more fair if both lose their addons.

Why you think everything MUST benefitt the survivors or killers ? Survivors already have it way too easy and now they try to make it a lil harder with fewer add ons i dont see a problem here.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

And it's silly that White Ward will allow you to keep your add-ons if you die, but you still lose your add-ons if you escape.

"Hmm, I used a white ward this game... guess I'll die then. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"

Another reason why I think the add-on change is not needed. 🤔

  • Agreed. It definitely feels like they were trying to cater to killers by "nerfing" survivors with this dumb change.

They could have only made this change work by cutting the amount of addons survivors have like in half or something and that's actually not hard to do because there are so many useless addons. Like there are 13 flashlight addons and only 4 of them are actually useful and worth your bloodpoints. 6 of them also basically don't do anything, there is no point of having them in the game.

  • I thought you were gonna talk about the Doctor add-on changes that came out of nowhere. Now Doc has some busted add-ons that can make him very strong.
