[Devs do something] Taken hostage on Thompson House by a spirit.

I've was playing a game with my SwF the map was Thompson. when a friend was downed the spirit picked him up then put him at top of thompson house then go away. I told my team that i go save him and then once i've saved him the spirit came back and block the stairs. With no way to escape we had to DC's.

I've reported him i hope you will do something about and fix the bad map design with it too.

  • Getting back on track - I think people on both sides of the Killer-Survivor fence can agree that opening the railing next to the lockers in the stairwell is a good idea.

Prevents what we saw above, and gives the killer another way to carry people downstairs if they don't want to use the top hook for whatever reason.

Can we focus on that instead? We got an opportunity to work in a bi-partisan manner here.

EGC should start right as hatch is opened iirc. Been awhile though since I've seen someone use it while still in trial.

The opening of the hatch doesn't trigger the EGC. That only happens when the killer closes the hatch manually, or when a gate is opened.

You're correct, the hatch does automatically close after 30 seconds if it is opened with a key. I was mistaken in saying that it will remain open permanently. However, this does not trigger the EGC, so the scenario OP is describing is still a hostage situation.

Due to the other 2 taking hatch and not opening the doors. If it's a full swf they have communication.

And besides, why doesnt EGC start on key hatch close? Seems any hatch closing should, as SOMEONE has gone through it.

All that aside. The killer isnt completely responsible. They're being scummy, but know in their mind," two are out there. Theyll finish gens and start EGC, and these two will die."

They didn't think to themselves, "hey, I bet the other two will use a key for hatch and let me hold these two forever.'

It's still scummy. And the house should still have a drop off (inside, not to corn), but I dont blame the killer for taking hostages here. The SWF team had a potential to end it, and opted to leave two stranded.

  • Just do gens and leave

  • Can you upload it to YouTube and post a link to it in this thread? That way we can see what happened.

You could argue that they left via hatch to force the killer to take action or be held responsible for holding the game hostage.

  • Let me ask this question.2 survivors are left alive on mother dwelling. They are not doing gens but just hiding fr the killer. That should be holding the game hostage, because they are not doing anything to advance game play. But it is not considered holding a game hostage why cause the killer is supposed to find them .

Now if those 2 survivors where the only ones alive and trapped in the house it is holding the game hostage. Unless they are down. Why unless they are downed, well because they will eventually bleed out ending the game.

The out of house team did finish the gens but opted to use the hatch rather than open the exits so egc never prompted...so in this scenario the game was held hostage.

Then thats not taking the game hostage, you can open the gates or find the hatch. Or you could eat a basic attack tap your friend and try for save. Killers lose collision for a brief period on basic attack to prevent body blocking in a hostage situation, and this is not a hostage situation.

Survivors playing hide and seek isn't holding the game hostage because it's still in the killer's hands to be able to bring it to an end with normal game play. However, cornering the last survivor and going afk, the survivor has no way to end it.

So if anything, the SWF now have the killer hostage/as a scapegoat.

    Even more scummy.

Because all that did was leave two teammates with no option EXCEPT to DC, when they were capable of dying to EGC.

All I see is that the killer, and half of the SWF have this ego problem of "nuh uh YOU suck and I WIN, I'm gonna PROVE IT", and both refuse to give ground. Killer via blocking, swf via forcing a hostage situation further.

Like I said been awhile. So I wasn't 100% sure if it did or not.

I still don't personally think this is a reportable case scenario other then the 2 disconnects, but there's way too many different variables at play to make it exactly a clear cut case either way.

I do but he doesn't change the fact the spirit is exploiting. Saying that killers use a DIRTY tactics to Kill is like saying it's not a exploit. This is a exploit and devs HAVE to fix it.

Using "dirty" tactics is not an exploit. Hell the devs have recommended killers slug and use as bait within the past few days on these forums. You had the option of finding the hatch or powering the gates to start egc. Your friend is not owed an escape from the killer nor is he owed a kill, you got outplayed; it happens to everyone.

He needs to upload the full video then, as it stands you have 4 healthy survivors, 2 blocked upstairs and 1 gen left to be completed. When people omit the full information while trying to persuade others, its usually intentional. If the hatch was opened and the two other survivors left, the HUD would display 1 gen and the hatch icon, as well as 2 survivors having exited. If the players were an swf and communicating they very easily could be trying to force a hostage situation to get the killer banned out of spite.

  • Holding the game hostage = stopping the progression of the objectives. If the spirit had blocked all 4 survivors by blocking the stairs and doing no other action, then yes, that is holding the game hostage.

In this case it appears that there were 2 survivors that were still able to progress the game to an ending.

It doesn't matter what the killer was thinking. They didn't know that the survivors were in a group, and even if they did, it wouldn't matter. Then show the full video. Also were you swf? Because its starting sound more like you tried to force a hostage situation if anything at all. 48 second video is a clip, if you were using shadow play it would be longer duration typically of whole minute values.

I'm not sympathizing with them. I'm stating what happened (per ops story) and what likely or potentially went through their minds. They didnt have the game hostage until the swf team decided to leave via hatch. That was a decision made by the survivors to not trigger EGC, stranding the other 2.

Technically yes, but it OP should post the whole length of video, not cherry pick to fit narrative. Also SWF with communications could force the hostage situation in an attempt to get the killer banned. If that was their intent then it really just arguing over who is breaking the rules more, neither should have happened.

The survivors chose to complete their objective and escape. Yes, they could have escaped a different way, which might not have led to the same hostage situation, but they did not control the outcome. It was still completely the killer's choice to hold the game hostage from that point onwards. The killer, not the other survivors, is the one that should be held responsible, because they were the one breaking the game's rules. No one forced them to hold the game hostage.

As I said above, escaping isn't forcing anything. That's only true if the killer was somehow unable to move. Assuming that the killer wasn't bugged in place, it was 100% their decision to hold the game hostage from that point onwards.

And while I agree that the evidence OP posted is inconclusive, and the game was not being held hostage in that video, I think it's a bit unfair to accuse them of "cherry picking to fit their narrative" just because they don't have a recording of the relevant section of the match.

No one forced a survivor to knowingly go upstairs and get caught. No one forced them to bypass the only point gaining option their teammates had.

I dont agree, sympathize, or side with the killer, but, especially with just a story for what happened and no video of the whole game, it's hard to acurately say the killer did everything wrong and caused a hostage situation.

Its scummy it got there, but the killer is in no way 100% at fault.

The killer did their objective, and had 2 survivors trapped by their own misplays. knowing the EGC would kill them, they opted for a scummy 2k. The other 2 survivors changed that.

It's almost as close to a 3 gen being considered "hostage taking". Misplays lead to bad situations. And when you're in a full, coordinated team, taking the only solution you have, and choosing one that places the killer in the "hostage taking" position, KNOWING you would have to DC and lose points, is stupid. Borderline planned, and seeming like, as you stated, they were forcing the spirit into punishment by their own actions.

For all we know, they got 5 gens with 0 hooks, and when spirit finally caught one, due to a misplay, they said, hey, let's get us out with hatch, so its THEIR FAULT and THEY get reported.

I'm done with this, as its apparent you will not hear what I'm saying, as in every potential situation or cause, it must be the killers fault for taking the game hostage, knowingly, and maliciously.

Inb4: ___ main. I play both sides. And this thread is ridiculous. Spirit didnt hold anyone hostage, as the game had a potential end, until swf decided they wanted otherwise.

You're correct. The killer didn't hold anyone hostage until the other two survivors escaped. Before that point, I completely agree that the killer was doing nothing wrong, because as long as they remained in that position it was still possible for the two survivors in the house to be killed by the EGC. In that way, the killer was making progress towards their objective.

However, if, as OP claims, the killer continued to remain in that position after the other two survivors escaped and the possibility of death to the EGC no longer existed under the same circumstances, then at that point they were intentionally holding the game hostage, as there was no longer any way for the survivors in the house to exit the game without disconnecting. She had the option of killing them, and she chose to force the game to go on indefinitely. That is her fault, not the fault of the survivors who escaped, and she should be held responsible accordingly.

I'll reinterate once again - the killer was not at fault as long as she was pursuing her objective of killing survivors, albeit indirectly. If the circumstances of the game changed such that it was no longer possible for the survivors to die (or escape) as long as she kept doing what she was doing, then from that point onwards she was holding the game hostage and breaking the rules in doing so.

Because 48 seconds is not the full clip on ps4 video saving. That's not an option. Unless the game was bolted up and ended in 48 seconds, there would be more of the clip. Somewhere. Or 18 seconds less, with only 30 seconds.

Ps4 does not have a "save 48 seconds" option.

Correct you can record longer but i've not record everything because the game lasted 30m why would i lie. Killers blocked because he wanted to troll. My team have done all gens and opened the doors at 99%, but instead of opening the door they taken the hatch so EGC haven't occur. I've blamed them but he doesn't change the fact that the killer was holding me hostage with another teammate.

Like i said you want to treat me of liar go ahead but, i haven't cut anything and is the full clip i had. If you want however i can give you the full ID list of who i've played even the random who were with us.

You have every reason to lie, you are trying to persuade the devs to take action against a killer you hold a grudge against. Again, you have more than a 48 second clip, you recorded via PS4, settings are at given intervals. Quit lying.

You record the game retrospectively not before the game starts so you should have the footage. This footage wouldn't be enough to report the killer with.

Then they can at least fix that exploit by fix the bad design but next time i will record longer.

Its not an exploit, you have been caught trying to manipulate the narrative and are now starting to backpedal..

    Why would you not lie?

The clip should last at least a full minute before cutting off. Unless you edited it.

But considering you record your gameplays you should absolutely have the timer on the ps4 set to at least 15 minutes. Which accounts for most matches.

Holding the share button a bit and pressing square isn't hard or time consuming. You would have gotten the part where your buddies escaped and would actually have proof of the killer holding the game hostage. But you didn't.

Which is really weird. Specially considering you wanted to post this.

Guess it's time to end this discussion. Nearly everyone will probably agree with you that they should fix the stairs to allow an additional way down the stairs.

But nearly everyone is picking up on your BS with your footage and the convenience of the lack of further footage. Nearly everyone was on your side before that point.

  • For what that clip shows, yes she was keeping two people blocked upstairs, but no, it's not technically keeping them hostage because the other two survivors could have just finished the gens and opened the doors, starting EGC and ending the game.
