  • I think tunneling (and camping) is necessary to a certain degree. I don't get annoyed when a killer is tunneling right away. Only when its extreme tunneling. The DS change means a lot of people stopped using it (myself included) so that is another reason. It was used offensively a lot, although personally I never tried to use it that way. I probably still did, but I brought it as anti tunnel, not as a "lets do gens and tbag the killer in his face".

Also, playing during rank reset, the first week you have to expect all ranges of killers and survivors that you dont normally get

I agree with your changes, but being healed doesn't stop it, neither does second wind. When you heal someone else or yourself, then it is.

😅 I forgot how to read

  • As a survivor main, I stopped using this forum shortly after it was released. Mostly because I felt like most people that were responding to me were Killer players. A lot who mostly just complained and didn't bother trying to give any constructive criticism or ideas to fix issues. (I inserted this to say that Idk how many survivors currently use this thread, so not sure if the responses on here are more killer sided, survivor sided, or equal)

I get that DS needed to be nerfed, but I don't think this change was 100% it. I ran DS frequently simply because there are those games that are so toxic, doesn't feel like there's a choice but to "abuse it" --->. I like to have fun and limit test. But if a killer is being super sweaty, that's super unfun to me because then I feel like I have no choice, but to be super sweaty back. I don't see another options besides giving up, and who likes to give up?

I've seen so many, "you shouldn't be able to do a gen in our face". Well, if I don't think I'm being tunneled, I'm going to do something to advance the game. And about half the time, the killer comes back to the hook area to tunnel.

I think the current DS could be amended. "While Decisive Strike is active, the following interactions will deactivate it 3/3.5/4 TIMES FASTER (while in the interaction):" The idea behind this is basically the same. But accounts for Killers who soft camp/tunnel. If you something to advance the game, your DS will be gone in 13/14/15 seconds. I think being healed shouldn't cancel it, just if the heal is completed. (E.G. someone tries to use their WMI on you, but then SURPRISE the killer is back to tunnel you)

Alternatively, it could still be nerfed in another way. Much shorter duration 15/17.5/20, but gets paused if you're in chase. or 20/25/30 seconds, but gets cancelled when someone else is hooked. (to prevent a DS->BT chain).

  • It doesn't need to be nerfed imo. Survivor main and its easy to counter. It's annoying sure, but if either I don't cleanse, or the killer keeps the whole team distracted so that we can't cleanse, then he deserves it. There are a few maps that are harder than some, but it is what it is.

  • This game was never intended to have voice comms. That's mostly why SWF is OP. F13 had built in ones because they were meant to have it. I'm not sure 100% why SWF lobbies were introduced, probably because the Community requested it so much.

I like your idea, but not everyone has friends on all at the same time to play a SWF ranked game, thats a problem.

Also I've been in plenty of solo/duo games where the Killer was bullied by the randoms I was with while I was being chased. SWF can make it easier to be toxic, but there are still lots of toxic people in this game unfortunately.

I think different game modes would be nice too

  • I'd say first and foremost that it'll probably never happen without some way to open it (not just the Keys) but at the same time, a lot of things are done in this game that are dumb so

"Tunneling" based on the phrase "Tunnel Vision". It is an accusation applied for when you focus on one survivor over others. Most accusations about tunneling are stupid as the decision to focus on one person is perk driven or common sense. (Dying Light/Remember Me) or targeting an injured person over an uninjured one are examples.

Looping is as you guessed, running in a circle around obstacles. It seems boring to me and a number of others so killers loathe it and most survivors like it, resulting in a community divide.

I have to disagree on "Most accusations about tunneling are stupid as the decision to focus on one person is perk driven" since 8/10 times I'm tunneled. it's not because of that. How do I know these stats? because I've been playing 2+ years and never has it changed and also I record my games

Let me guess, you used SAM.

I legit have no idea what you're talking about

I'd explain, but there's a rule against discussing bans. I'll just say that I haven't seen anyone get banned without just cause.

Hmm if you're referring to bans well I've never been banned on anything DBD related. Even though you haven't seen anyone get banned without just cause, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I have some friends who have been, and they showed me the details of it so yeah, it can happen

  • this is my 3rd can't move game in 3 weeks. everytime it's different survivors, different perks, different maps, different killers. The only common perk amongst them all is I run Adrenaline on almost everyone.

I'm also stuck in the game until the game is over, or else I dc and lose two pips.

  • @thomasnut said:
you have to understand. survivors absolutely do not want a fair game.. Anything that equalizes the playing field they absolutely hate.

The same could be said for Killers, easily.
While I agree with nerfing survivor perks, I disagree with HOW they did some of it, but that's not why I'm not playing PTB. I'm not playing PTB because there's no other survivors playing it, not even my friends so I don't have interest it. I played it once, saw the changes and that was it.

While the game is still ridiculously survivor favored, this isn’t the way to go about fixing it. The problem is map design and a lot of completely overpowered survivor perks.

100% agree about the map design. I don't think there's "a lot" of "completely overpowered survivor perks". There's definitely a few to be reworked, DS, SC, SB

  • And I also bring in a medkit, the brown ones with add ons so I can get one full heal on myself if I need to

  • I stopped using self care a long time ago. I mostly run Adrenaline, We'll Make it/Borrowed Time, Balanced Landing/Lithe, and Bond. Bond helps to find teammates to heal you, as well as avoid teammates who try to sand bag you, or are simply being chased nearby

  • No it's just useless. Boil Over means that your character only Physically wiggles more, which is supposed to make it harder for the killer to walk. Having teammates block for you can help, but In My Opinion, it's still useless

My unpopular opinion is that a lot of people don’t actually want the game to be balanced and they want their side to be the stronger side. Some killer players want their turn to be op and some survivors players want the survivors to stay the stronger side.

I'm a survivor main, and I wish some killers were stronger. To me its the point of the whole game. If you get out alive you won. If you Rank up you did well. If you literally spent your entire time looping and tea-bagging the Killer, and he gets you.. well that's on you. Same for the locker hiding Dwights XD

I have to agree with both of you. Sadly, I believe a lot of minor changes could fix most of the actual balancing problems. But I do think there are people who don't truly want balance.
I've never had much problems personally with one side being "Too OP", I always just "sucked it up" and tried to adapt. Mostly I want balance for the sake of the toxic side of the community. (Even though that would never truly go away :/)

And yeah, I find some killers not that strong...they deserve to be buffed 100%. But at the same time, some people don't know how to capitalize on killer's strengths.
I played against a Freddy (and there's only two categories: BAD Freddy and OP Freddy), and he surpassed all the OP Freddy's I had ever played against. This guy would hook someone, and then stay near the hook. When survivors came, he would sandman them, chase for a bit, go back, sandman another trying to unhook, chase them, and over and over again. We ended up all dying with only 2 gens done. It was a very sad game for me but I applauded him. Just the way he did everything, using Freddy to the max, I was ashamed at my gameplay

    Some more:

    • I am indecisive about NOED's current state after they made it a Hex that can completely not activate at all. At the same time, the very first version was just a bit OP being unlimited.
    • After that Deathgarden alpha, people suggested survivors' auras should be revealed to the killer after a certain amount of time by default. I believe I am against it.
    • Would rather play a no camper Speed Limiter Leatherface than a litterally instant chainsaw Hillbilly with turning add-ons and Tinkerer.
    • Clown and Nurse mori animations are the best ones. Second one is either Leatherface or Hag.

On NOED: I think instead of a Hex, there should be a timeframe in which it is enabled. Something interesting would be = for every survivor hit, gain 5 seconds on NOED. (idk actual time)
Lots of survivors run Self Care, Aura Perks, We'll Make it, so they usually heal up.

EDIT: something like that could "Help" with tunneling/camping

    1. My favorite Killer map was Disturbed Ward. Basically an old opinion, as now after being infinited there too many times to count I hate it.
    2. Stealth is a viable tactic as survivor, and No Mither effect should be part of the main game(except you still start healthy)
    3. This game has too many hackers(really just my bad luck).

    2) The problem with that is the breathing of injured survivors. I think they would have to reduce the sound, since there are already perks that increase survivors breathing sounds
Most survivors would rage over that small change without a "balance"

    3) There are wayyyyyyyyyy tooooooooo many hackers along with lagswitchers, it's really annoying

My unpopular opinion: If a killer DCs because he's getting destroyed by a toxic SWF group...that's fine. Hopefully he finds it out early enough in the game that the SWF group gets nothing out of it. I find very little as frustrating when I play killer than watching as a SWF group does choreographed acrobatics around me.

It's honestly a bit surprising how much I read on threads, the amount of hate towards SWF. Personally for me, the most coordination I've had is like taking a map and a key, and obviously talking about unhooking etc. Most of the time my friends and I do our own things, and we "rage" and laugh at each other for getting caught more than trolling or being toxic toward the killer.

I think maybe adding a solo/duo vs "squad" (3-4) mode could help? and giving killers an advantage on squad mode.

    Not sure entirely!

EDIT: maybe requiring an additional gen to be done. Granting an additional perk to the killer could be an idea too, but that would have to be conditional...but that would be hard (EG allowing a maybe Rare (green) and below?)

  • @Tru said:
Well that didn't take long... basically calling for killer nerfs already.. Must be a survivor main who thinks their already easy job wont be as easy anymore.

Oh I'm sorry you read it that way! I in no way requested Killer nerfs. I in fact play both sides almost equally :) I just want a truly balanced game, which can be hard to do for lots of reasons!

Dude he either doesn’t know how or just refuses to read. We gotta start sending him voicemails

I honestly think he plays too much killer, he thinks that anything the survivors do is brainless.

This is most likely the case as it is with many others. He’s the only one on here that I’ve talked to who acts like this. It’s pretty sad honestly

I wouldn't really engage in conversation with him. He doesn't know how to read or use context, he only reads what he wants and interjects his own ideas. He claims that he's a stealth player but has no way to prove it, and then claims that you guys have no proof to your own claims
I've seen him on many posts, there's no reason to talk to him frankly EDIT: talking about Anarchy dude

Moving on, I think the main problem was that there's too many pallets in the game, not pallet vacuuming per say. If you want to remove the vacuum, that's fine, as well as reducing pallets, but not by TOO much.
Idk if either of you have played PTB but there are problems with pallet dropping. It's a minor thing that can be fixed, although it's annoying. You can be standing on one side of the pallet and not be given the option to drop it

  • I can imagine sometime in the future, there's several game mods that killers can choose from, and survivors find out when they enter the match. Whether it's going to be a chase game, a jigsaw playground, or something else.

  • Spawning near a hex totem as survivor.
    1) it's unfair to the killer
    2) usually the killer comes straight to it and looks around vigorously. usually finding me

Also when a killer tunnels up to my butt. I've had tunneling killers but then I've had killers tunneling up my butt aka I'm the only focus the entire 15 minutes of the match

Edit: And no, these killers did NOT have perks that required them to tunnel one person or me specifically

  • The Shard cap WILL be removed. it was said on stream by the Community Manager and Product manager

  • This is a common thing among survivors. Something most don't yet realize. If the killer sees them hanging around a hooked survivor, the killer is GOING to Camp. That's plain and simple.
Most survivors complain that camping is a cheap way to win, when it in fact is a legit strategy no matter how much anyone dislikes it (myself included).

Long story short, survivors will always find something to hate killers over, especially camping. That won't change anytime soon. You can't let it affect you. And camping is NOT a bannable offence by the way. So you will not get banned for it.

  • There is a post on the PTB on how to access it...

    OPTING IN
Close the Dead by Daylight application
Right-Click the Dead by Daylight Application in your Steam Library
    Access Properties
    Access the "Beta" Tab
    Select "public-test" from the dropdown
Restart Steam (not required, but this updates the UI properly and kicks off the download)

Maybe there will be an update on steam to allow you to do this? There's currently no option to do this right now as I checked

quite a difference between facecamping and camping first of all if you don't know that camping was always intended for killers to have, watch dev diary 3 so you make yourself not look so silly on the forums by claiming it as something bad for them to do : P

You really don't know how to read some of these posts correctly...I've been playing since June 2016. I'm aware that camping is a legit strat for killers. I never said it was bad. I SAID

    Not that it was bad.

and yes I'm aware camping and face camping are two different things. My era it was soley face camping so I'm used to that terminology, my bad. Camping in general is what I meant to say

  • RSB said:

I've edited my post, because there were a typo in one word. Facecamping (blocking the ability to unhook a survivor) was patched in update 1.8(?) - that update, when Freddy came into the game. I assume you are talking about the camping. Well, this is not blocking the flow of the game, as there are other 3 survivors, who can do gen. Killers often camp, when they see survivors running around hooks, so it is up to them if they want to allow the killer to move out of the hook zone.
Hatch standoff is in the hand of survivors, as they can:

    a) Repair the gens
    b)Escape through the hatch

The killer can only find and down a survivor, and if the survivor is camping a hatch they can't do it. Please, note that the killer is punished in this case, because he did a good work in killing 3 survivors, but the game decides to reward the survivor with almost free escape.

Have you ever tried to consider that the last remaining survivor maybe “deserves” escaping through hatch? Ive had plenty of games with survivors who refused to teamwork or just trolled or were bad. I cant repair all 5 gens solo nor can I rescue everyone.

I played a game where I did 2 gens (one half completed by teammates at the start)
Only the Jake seemed to know how to play somewhat (his random pallet drop I didn't understand). He and I unhooked everyone that was hooked. I was never hooked. The other two died to the Pig Traps cause idk they didn't understand. The Jake died from being hooked twice and giving up (I think) mid struggle.
I was chased, she hit me, lost me (ty Iron Will) and I got the hatch. I later learned I was teamed up with 20's (I was rank 14) and a Rank 17 killer.

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of the new ranking up system & so aren't many others. People may just shrug it off and say "people aren't used to change". However, I disagree, the new ranking system is quite difficult but this only because of the mechanics of how it works and some games don't consist of all the aspects it takes to pip or rank up. For example: Rank 20 killer who doesnt know how to play, doesn't even know how to hook or down people against some mediocre players who know the basics of the game. They do all the gens & escape, none of them pip because they haven't got the required amount of actions in the game to do so.

This issue isn't the survivor fault and therefor should be changed as the game is forcing actions to happen and is not guaranteed to happen all games. This loses the replay value of the game and you don't want every game to be the same else it gets boring and people lose interest. This could be seen as a petition to get a change.

In my opinion, neither of the ranking systems were perfect and finding a perfect solution to the ranking system is very difficult. I do believe a lot of people prefer the old one - as much as it was in the survivors advantage - the BP value to get a pip was alot more convenient.

❕ PLEASE keep this as civilised as possible else a moderator will end up locking this post!

Try a PTB to test with the old ranking up system to see how people react or do some major changes?
Up vote if you agree so this gets to the developers & moderators attention.

I personally like the new ranking system. You actually have to try to rank up now, not just hang around bullying killers while your team is doing gens.

As someone who has hours and hours of video, showing how often I am tunneled from the start of the game until 3/4 gens are done, I really disagree.
Only once, out of the many countless games like this, have I ever been successfully saved. And I didnt even pip. I was chased and hooked the entire game, and only got to do part of one gen.

I know that survivors bully killers, but in my case I find the opposite. And it makes the game super frustrating.
  • Killers like to use the excuse a lot that they face camp solely because survivors pallet loop... well guess what, once pallets are fixed, killers are STILL gonna camp. Killers are still gonna tunnel. Killers are still gonna slug games.
Because its a cheap way to kill just as looping is a cheap way to survive. Nothing is going to change in that regard
  • I also think that if a fellow survivor decides to DC, the other survivors should gain points in Survival or something. Too many times do I come across a survivor who gets chased and down within 1 minute of the match to only DC.

We are then stuck with repairing 5 gens still. So often does the Killer capitalize on this by slugging the game. Down one person, find another, down them, find the last, down them.

  • I find that One toxic person is all it takes to make others around him super toxic as well. It's a constant domino effect that cause people to be very salty, troll a lot and be toxic as a result.
I remember first playing the game in mid 2016 that there were a lot of complaints about broken things in the game, and I didn't care nor did a lot of my friends. The game was very brand new and you just had to learn to adapt.

Comparing the community then to now, the community is more toxic now. I've been a victim of becoming toxic (I also am to blame for letting it happen) because I had a killer who face camped/tunneled me (because the game before that he played, he was pallet looped/flashlighted/body blocked) or survivors who don't unhook me safely/do gens/bodyblock the killer hits and whether or not it was the survivors/killers fault for that or their own fault cause their skill is low, this is a result. And then my next game I play I either end up trolling the next killer or taking it out on the survivors by not helping.

Ultimately I try my best to not be toxic or troll excessively, and to constantly be prepared to adapt. That's all you can do. There's always going to be something broken or unfair as long as new content is being added (And I think we all like new content)

The thing I believe now that is causing the most toxicity is the Emblem system for BOTH killers and survivors. That's another conversation for another thread. Changes need to be made, a lot of them and I don't see toxicity going away(or decreasing) anytime soon until they change this.

  • You could hear the Wraith clocking from the start, and even after that you could hear the unclocking across the map, as well as the chainsaw revving.

You could tell who the killer was by the hooks
