Just saying it's official the worst video game of all time. Not even joking- look it up.
Dude, I played the game when it was released. I've read all of the stories. The worst game of all time status comes mostly from legend and people who have never played the game. It had a terrible development cycle and was released at a bad time. It was unnecessarily difficult to figure out. It was sub part for its time, but it also came out when everyone was getting sick of Atari due to the amount of garbage games getting pumped out. But it is far from the worst game of all time.

Officially? Atari's "E.T."
Nah. E.T. wasn't a bad game. Once you get the hang of the controls, it's pretty good.
-
It's not that bad, but it is getting worse.
-
So far, I'm feeling like these changes have dumbed everything down and made the game even more repetitive than it already was. The new changes have not improved anything for me that I can tell so far and the challenges are mostly "do all the normal stuff you're supposed to do."

you don't need the game to give you a challenge to play a different character or use different perks, you can do that anytime you want
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/TZE32T9C7FEG/fhjujukjjgbnbcvdse.jpg
That's not what I said.
-
I had an extra chance to play a little more of the new Rift today and I have to say that this new quest system is immensely boring. The quests don't feel remotely special as everything associated with them is incredibly mundane. There doesn't seem to be any real focus at all, so far. Even if I complete the premium tier, this might be it for me with the game. The old Archives and the old Dailies were way more enjoyable. This new system doesn't even incentivize playing different characters like the old one did.
-
Honestly, I rarely play killer because I usually get paired up with survivors who would rather not even attempt to do generators but instead spend all their time messing with the killer. If that's how people want to play, then I'm just not going to play. Even as Survivor, I've had plenty of games where I am the only person doing generators. I've completed entire games as the only survivor to do generators.
It's just not really fun either way anymore, but it's worse as the killer.
-
As someone who only place twice a week for two hours at a time, this change to the Rift might be what kills the game for me. I've always enjoyed doing the premium tier, but it looks like I'll need to play almost daily to complete the track with the new system. I hope I'm wrong, but if this is the case, then I'm done with the game.
-
I am now just realizing the mistake I have likely made by purchasing the premium rift track this time. I only have time to play maybe twice a week for two hours at a time. If this new system is going to require me to log on almost daily to complete the track, then I'm done with the game. If behavior won't respect my time, then I don't have to play anymore.
-
I wish it was heavily killer sided. Playing survivor is boring because there is almost no challenge anymore and playing killer sucks because survivors only want to mess with the killer half of the time.
-
Honestly, my biggest concern is what if the match isn't worth playing. I've had rounds where the survivors in playing with have no intention of doing generators and all they want to do is run around and mess with the killer. So either I get stuck doing all five generators on my own or I let the killer get me so I don't have to get stuck with people who don't want to play. I'll play my heart out and love a good tense match. But sometimes you can tell a match isn't worth playing.
-
Friday the 13 was a great game that had a lot of things DBD should implement. However, the game offered no incentive to making sure everyone survived. If people started escaping without you, you were likely ######### out of luck as your ways of escaping greatly diminished. DBD at least encourages that people try to help each other escape.
-
I would love this.
-
I think BHVR should just add a NASCAR based survivor and killer. They can be covered with sponsorship and you can earn Auric Cells from playing as them. The more time you spend in line of sight of other players, the more you earn.
-
I enjoy the Twins. I would just like it to be easier and quicker to switch between the two.
-
I would love to see a killer that can change the terrain by making walls appear and disappear. Someone who can mess with the map.
Or a second Nicolas Cage, but this time he's the killer.

Don't really pay attention to end game chat if its negative. Some people are trolls and are just trying to get under your skin - I doubt they even think they were tunneled, they are just trying to upset you.
I've always thought of tunneling as the idea of going after the first survivor you find until they are eliminated, basically ignoring everything else. However people use the definition in extremely different ways, making any discussions about tunneling virtually impossible.
I used to play a lot when the post game chat could be absolutely horrific, so I have a habit of immediately skipping the post game chat if I'm anything other than mediocre (IE, I do poorly or good). That said, I've noticed people lately really want to make sure they say something, so they post on my Steam profile. I don't understand who goes out of their way to do that, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't unintentionally being an ass.
-
A few months ago I was called a tunnler after taking down all four survivors. The thing was, none of them were doing generators. They were a young or if their way to get me to chase them. Running at me, flicking their flashlights. I think they were a group that regularly pulled this stuff because they didn't attempt to start generators until after two of them had died. The funny thing is, it was a killer I sucked at. I was just trying to get the daily. They would've won easily if they just did gens.

this could be a super neat concept! if it didnt effect vision that is lol
cue minecraft ambience sounds but dbd
See, I think it could work both ways. Some weather only changes the atmosphere and other forces you to change how your play. Just imagine Ormand. It's night and the snow is so heavy that you have near whiteout conditions. You make a run through the snow, only to bump into the killer. It's a mad dash to escape. You can't see where you're going too well because of the snow; you just hope you can make it to the lodge so you can stop and figure out your next move. But there's hope. You zig and zag all over the place knowing that the heavy snow falling makes it difficult for your scratch marks. You escape because the killer can't find you and you breath a sigh of relief. But then you hear a scream as one of your team is taken down and the other two flee from the lodge into the storm.

It’s not so simple, tunneling is in reference to tunnel vision. So focusing on anything to much would be tunneling. If you go on a 5 gen chase and don’t even kill the survivor or even hook them you were technically still tunneling. But the most common thing referred to when the word tunnel is used is the 3 hook tunnel where you immediately go back to hook and go after the unhooked person instead of the healer or someone else. If you look around for 30 seconds and run into the recently unhooked survivor again I wouldn’t call that tunneling because after all they can hear you coming and could leave/ play more safe.
Going from Gen to Gen is not tunneling that’s how you do your job. I don’t try to tunnel but sometimes you aren’t left with an option. If an injured survivor body blocks for a healthy survivor with BT then I will tunnel that survivor. If it’s the only person I see I will tunnel them because a lot of times other survivors will notice and come take hits and then I’ll switch targets. Also if a survivor gets unhooked and stays injured and hops on a Gen I will immediately put them back on the hook. If you wanna sacrifice your heals to work on a Gen then that’s on you and I’m gonna go for the weakest target but that is considered tunneling by some.
I would say not to play for everyone’s fun because someone will always be unhappy. I did that for the first few years and it was exhausting because people would still cry in egc no matter how I played. And a lot of people would bm me for losing even when playing nice. Maybe I’m jaded but I play for my fun now.
Thanks for that. I have gone back to the hook immediately after an unhook plenty of times, but that's generally because I hadn't even gotten out of the vacinity yet and it would be faster to go after the unhooker than it would be to hunt someone else. Maybe I'm in the wrong, but I don't think I should feel guilty about that when they're not even giving me enough time to leave the area.
-
I don't know whether to agree or disagree with this one. I've had a blast playing as the Skull Merchant and won many games as her. As I'm not great with killers, I'm inclined to agree.
On the flip side, however, I've never had a difficult time against her as a Survivor. She has been one of the easier killers for me to go against.
-
Well, in the old days there was a lot of, "You suck. You should #########." Now most people won't talk in the post game chat. Usually if they are upset, they'll leave a nasty comment on my Steam profile.
-
@xltechno said:
People who talk about tunnels as if they are illegal are always 5gen then. It's a very interesting phenomenon. The other survivors waste the hooked survivor's first-chase contributions, and the survivor assures the killer that he can safely tunnel without risking gen completion.
I don't see it as often, but I can think of many games I tried in the past where I couldn't get more than 5 steps from hooking a survivor before seeing someone run to save them. I'd down everyone and they'd accuse me of camping. It's like dude, it's not camping if you're not even giving me time to leave the area, especially when you are running out in front of me to unhook. I assure you, when I play killer, I will come look for you if you give me a chance.
-
You both make good points. I think a compromise could be to sacrifice items for shards. Obviously not many shards, but all my characters have so much junk that they'll never use. Like who uses the items that affect the mist? Maybe 5 shards for a basic item, 15 for a yellow, etc.

Why would you alt tab?

This event is boring.

Sounds unique! I wish they’d take some more chances and make some more unique maps like this.
I’d like if they also did a map (could be this one) where more of the map size is vertical rather than horizontal. This makes more player interaction and encourages less hold w. So a house for example that’s multiple stories up but a lesser amount of actual ground floor.
Agreed. There are really only two maps that do anything unique: The backwater swap and the Gideon Meat Factory. The Gideon Meat Factory has doors that open when you complete generators and the Backwater Swap blows a horn when you complete the one in the boat.
I really think they dropped the ball with the Silent Hill map. Like, it should've been a completely normal looking school to start, but when your trigger a certain event like compete three generators or something, the school transforms into a hell version. And in the hell version, holes could open up in the floors and walls, altering the map somewhat like the Gideon Meat Factory.
I just think a lot of opportunities are missed with the maps, which is sad because they've demonstrated they can do it.
-
I had a killer challenge the other day where after hooking a survivor, a moving glyph would appear and I had to chase and catch it before it disappeared. I needed to get two of them in a single match I think it was. So after I got my hooks, I'm chasing this erratically moving glyph and the thing never moved too far from the guy in the hook. So when the match ended, everyone accused me of camping.
-
Lol, yes. Many people can't handle losing. If the killer wins, he must be playing dirty.
-
It has become my experience that survivors don't want to play the game anymore. They ignore gens and just mess with the Killer.
-
Once, right after they implemented it. I don't think the killer knew about the rule change. He seemed surprised and flustered that it happened.
-
I prefer green regression. I feel it adds to tension and encourages you to risk going back to a potentially dangerous area. Gen blocking is slow and annoying. As a Survivor, you just kind of have to stay out of sight until they are unblocked.

@felipesegatto1 said:
this is not survivors fault. it is BHVR balance decisions that made the game too hard and too hopeless for survivors to play correctly most matches. Why would you try your best when you know you dont have equal chances of winning? Hate the game not the player
Lol, no. The game is a piece of cake when Survivors actually play. Survivor has been easy mode for a long time. That's one reason I think they are screwing around so much now. If anything, it should be way harder for survivors. Survivors should never feel like they're safe.
Lights out was a step in the right direction. I hope that becomes a permanent move because that was the most fun I've had as either side in years.
-
Back when killers were something to fear. I still remember a game years ago in the old junkyard. There were two gens left and they were both near each other. The huntress had killed two of us already. It was intense and exhilarating. One of the best matches I ever had. This was back when you could still use keys to open the hatch before generators were done and the post game chat was the most vile place on the internet.
I don't recall how the match ended, only that everyone stayed and complimented each other for making it such a great match. Even the two who were killed stayed to see the outcome.
I wish I had friended everyone in that game.

My theory is that their data most likely showed that bad killers are more likely to quit if faced with too much challenge, and on the other side most survivors are likely to still play even if they lose a majority of their games as long as it means they get into game quickly.
It sounds like a tinfoil hat moment, but think about it, with the amount of lobby dodging and moaning about swf, the amount of killers that would simply not enjoy the game if they were faced with a real challenge in most of their games has to be pretty high.
BHVR really wants killer to feel like the power role, so slaughtering more than half your lobbies is their way of achieving this, it also doubles as a low-cost way to maintain the game since it doesn't require any meaningful resources being put into balance.
Of course this is on BHVR and not the killer playerbase.
I've actually gotten to the point that if it's clear that the other survivors only want to screw around, I'll just quit the match. I don't have the patience for it anymore. If I have completed a task such as a daily or tomb, I'll go wait the match out somewhere and do something else. I'll let the killer kill me or hide in a hidden recess if I'm the killer.
Yesterday I had a game as the killer that was more than ten minutes before the any survivors attempted to do a generator. They just kept vaulting windows and slamming lockers from opposite corners of the map. I almost never saw them.
No one sees the killer as a threat anymore. I had so much fun back in the day knowing that if I saw the killer, I needed to fear for my life. Now, I don't even stop doing a generator of the killer is coming at me because I know the odds of me escaping scot free are far greater than me getting hooked.
-
I would like to see perks that have drawbacks. Like, and I'm just spitballing here, "Survivor gets 300% speed boost for 10 seconds, but there is a 7% they trip and fall like a dumbass. Player must perform three successful skill checks to get up and run again. First successful skill check will allow survivor to crawl. Second will allow them to crawl faster. Third, very back to running. "
-
If my teammates are actually playing the game, no. I will try to make sure everyone is there before I bail. As soon as everyone arrives though, I leave. No sense prolonging the game.
However, if my team is being ######### heads, and lately that's more often than not, I will absolutely bail and hope the killer gets their stupid ass.
-
You know, this may be one reason may Survivors often go out of their way to taunt the killer. Honestly, you should get survival points for managing to stay hidden and not seen being the killer. Having to get the majority of points from being chased encourages bad behavior. I've had many games where I do phenomenal and the killer never sees me and I get a paltry amount of bloodpoints. But when the killer is practically up my ass for the whole match, those bloodpoints go up significantly.
-
As a Survivor, the traps are generally pretty easy to avoid as long as you look. They're really only a threat when you are panick running. And remember, the Trapper can get in his own traps too, so it's a double edged sword.
-
And the price is obscene
-
It's an obscene price to pay for all of the cosmetics. I was going to buy them all, but they're insane if they think I'm going to pay more than $20 for the whole set.
-
I was going to buy every one of them, but at $14 each, BHVR is our of their minds.
-
My characters are full of pages of items I will never use.
-
I had a lot of fun as both Killer and Survivor. I didn't run into the tunneling everyone was complaining about and loved the added tension when I played Survivor. And when I played as a Killer, everyone played the game instead of spending their time messing with the Killer. It was by far the most fun I've had playing in years.
-
@codebibi said:
do you even play survivor ? ever ? because it is a terrible experience it is really bad. killer keep getting buffed and survivors nerfed and killers are free to be as toxic and obnoxious and abuse game mechanics like tunneling camping and slugging as much as they want without any consequences. survivors anti tunnel perks got nerfed to oblivion and are useless now, healing got nerfed multiple times over the years it's a nightmare and really not a fun experience.
Survivor is ridiculously easy. So much so that many survivors don't even try to play the game but would rather just mess some with the killer. I often get paired with these people when I play survivor and it's incredibly boring. If I end up playing against survivors like this as the killer it's even more annoying.
-
I'm not saying to eliminate the four perk slots, though I would be fine with survivors having just 3 perk slots. I'm just wanting one ability each survivor has exclusively to themselves that they always have every game. It doesn't have to be major either. Just something to make each survivor functionally different, even slightly, regardless of what they pick for perks.
-
I would love to have a way to turn them in, even if only for a fraction of the bloodpoints received. Or maybe something small like a couple iridescent shards so we could eventually use them for cosmetics. I have so many junk items I will never use.
-
Why would you play a horror game if you are uncomfortable with the expected themes?
