I don't understand the complaints about base BT or the removal on unhook grabs.
BT was already used in almost every scenario and was in most people's kit. It was such a standard that killers looked out for it even when not knowing it's in use making it the standard of DBD. All that not having it basekit did was making it use a perk slot reducing variety and making it so those few who didn't use it are basically throwing. You waited it out before, and you're waiting it out now, nothing changed.
As for unhook grabbing. I don't have a clip but imagine the unhook spam scenario. The perspective on the hooked person is that they constantly scream and their camera dances around. The unhooker spams left click while staring at the killer, and the killer just tries to guess when to press left click. Add ping into it and no skill is required, it's all luck. Regardless of balance if you think that's good gameplay then there's nothing someone could say to change your mind and there's no point discussing it.

"I am gonna tell people how should they play the game they payed for and then call them entitled if they refuse" look no further than into mirror to find entitled one
I remember on the Overwatch forums people used to say that. "I paid for the game who are you to tell me how to play". Those people got banned. Now that won't happen here because because it's DbD, but the point stands that one thing some people don't understand is that you paid for a multiplayer game with other people, the very least you can do is not intentionally throw the game.
"Solution to boring camping is boring M1 on gens and try to escape with no bp? I will rather go try save and die doing it with no bp than that lol." And now your whole team gets no bp because they didn't get any from gens and escapes.

I think the more pressing question is, how
I'll do you one better:
-
I agree, and I've even said it in another post. Dead by Daylight is a party game and here's why.
Compare it to another pvp game like Overwatch or League of Legends. There you have ranks, and matches based around those ranks. Now the people in those matches aren't always going to be of exact skill level, but within more or less 1 rank worth of skill they will. DbD is a bowl of Skittles and MnMs which you grab a fistful of, and you never know what you're going to get.
For survivors it could be a godly 4 man swf, a casual friends swf of various skill level, a mix of duos and solos, or a full solo squad some who may be good, some who may be bad. Add Discord into the mix and it's ever more random. On the killer side, with the difference in power from Nurse down to idk Trapper (debatable who the worst killer is), and difference in skill level on those characters (good/bad nurse, good/bad trapper) and how serious they play, which is random due to the casualness of this game, on top of that the weird working MMR, add saltine crackers disguised as skittles and mnms into the mix. Not even gonna talk about perks.
🎉
-
My first 3 matches in the new patch when the DLC was purchasable were vs Nurse. Not a great first impression of the patch.
-
Just gotta pay 12$, then level a character to p3, or p1 and upgrade it on your main, only to be able to use it on others, and not be safe yourself. And that's a maybe that it'll work or be able to be used, at the cost of a perk slot. I can't believe anyone at BHVR thought this would solve camping, it's probably meant just as another gimmicky tool that might occur once in a while just like many perks.
Some version of a timer pause needs to be made basekit for killers that are too close to the hook. Or something like how the EGC timer slows down when there's injured survivors.
- Make the killer hitting hooked survivors pause the timer for like 5s.
- After the killer has spent x seconds within x meters of a hooked survivor, the timer is paused or slowed.
- Remove unhook grabbing to encourage immediate hits and remove the boring staring competition.

The clown picture is exactly something I would use for people who defend Nurse. The most delusional bunch, but I held off. I never said "*streamer* said this" nor "a guy with 6000 hours said this", I showed an example of someone whose word holds the most weight because they play the character, and have interest in that character staying strong to keep their content going, so randos on the forums can stop throwing the same excuses and arguments around, but nothing is ever good enough evidence.
I can read what I type. I typed what almost every single match of the video game that you are playing is like, and you know it. There isn't an us vs them, a low tier vs high tier. It's all the same. I'm not talking about Overwatch where there's obvious differences in ranks and people in those matches are roughly the same skill, and balance shouldn't be made around low ranks. Again, this is Dead By Daylight. Have you played it?
Firstly, notice how you said 50-150 win streaks, and not anywhere near 413? Secondly, I've seen some, they were most before the MMR change. Thirdly, 100 post MMR winstreak on Myers? I'll be waiting for that video that you'll link.
"Wow, it's almost like no one plays perfect." Isn't you first comment in this thread saying "play perfectly to counter this, and expect your teammates to do so as well?" It is.
400+ win streak on 4 top tier players with coms and as I've seen once, a map in the corner of the screen showing numbers on each tile to make perfect callouts? Greeeat argument.
Just to reiterate a bit and add something. You say "pub players". Meaning public or random groups, as in a matchmade team, as opposed to premade squads of 4 people and like tournament, pro scene players. How many matches are composed of a 4 man survivor premade, and then how many of those matches are an actual "pro squad" (let's say) that can deal with stuff like that and not a group of friends of various skill. I would say an extremely, EXTREMELY low amount.
If you haven't figured it out, Dead By Daylight is a party game. Not a competitive scene with an esports viewership.

Wow, I wonder what the literal creator company of the game who has access to all of the gameplay data and relevant factors can figure out. Gee, I wonder if there's maybe a reason the devs are buffing and releasing perks that clearly make a totally OP killer even more totally OP, all the while never mentioning her being a problem and never changing her.
Common sense? A survivor should pretty much never be in the area in the first place outside of badly designed maps or being in a corner, and even in those cases, lockers still bypass it. Average players don't have a good understanding of how to play as or against anything well. By that logic, let me ask you this. Is Iron Maiden a good perk? Average survivors will get in lockers for all sorts of bizarre reasons, meaning it will likely give location value if not instadown value at least a few times per match. Instantly knowing a survivor's location in a way that cannot be blocked outside of running a super obscure perk (Calm Spirit) + a potential instadown if you catch them in the next 30s is great against randoms.

"My proof is a winstreak against pub lobby players by a 7200h Nurse main that semi-frequently plays competitive, almost always uses strong builds, and usually doesn't hold back."
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/87FVM5PQXHKD/image.png
The fact you think people come across good/god players often and that it's not just them overrating their opponents is hilarious though. But since you clearly haven't paid attention to the actual streak or its process, I'm going to do you a favor and enlighten you on something. Guess what? At multiple points through that streak, he has come extremely close to losing it, and has maintained it through the skin of his teeth. LMAO.
Also, 413, whatever. There's 50-150+ winstreaks for literally every single killer in this game. Guess what? They've dominated those matches because they usually use strong builds, are good players, and get matched against pub lobbies. Guess what else is also true? Solo and SWF escape streaks, the latter currently in 400+ if I remember correctly. If any of the decent comp teams did 4 man SWF and went all-out against pub players every game mostly using some of the strongest possible builds, they would utterly annihilate almost every single game ever because basically no one ever will come close to that level.
I don't know why you think a streamer saying something means it has weight. People with 6,000+ hours can be utter garbage at this game or have some of the dumbest takes like "pallet stun blinds are OP" or "Legion is OP".
Wow, it's almost like no one plays perfect. Amazing how that works, innit? It's almost like if good players can achieve something that worse players can't, it's a skill issue. But hey, surprise, surprise. Guess what? Any given average player is not going to go against insanely good players almost ever. Those insanely good players will likely go against average players for the majority of their matches (given matchmaking literally can't find a lobby of even skill players for them without taking hours). But with how few of those great players there are in proportion to the overwhelming majority of average players, for any given average player, the odds of actually facing a terror like that is insanely small.
"My teammates played badly/had no clue how to play against X properly, so this is clearly a balance issue." Can you actually read what you type first?
The clown picture is exactly something I would use for people who defend Nurse. The most delusional bunch, but I held off. Or... they're doing what they do, because they have the data to realize it's not actually an issue like people claim it is?
Also, a good player can beat pub lobbies with literally anything. I've literally done zero gen regression Trapper with zero add-ons or offerings and slaughtered pub lobbies at 5 gens left before. Beating average players is a given for good players. The fact you think beating average players proves anything is amusing though. I've escaped pub lobby killers using No Mither or zero perk survivor builds. Does that mean those are good? No, it means average players suck.
413 win streak in the final recording on twitch (this continues still after the nerf to her addons). That's not just random pub occurrences. With how often people come across a good group, a god squad etc. you're telling me he never came across any? And inb4 "he's a great player, top of the top" you think he, or anyone else would be able to reach anywhere close on any other killer? Blight maybe (just because of all the unintended techs he has), but probably not near 413. Also, he said that Awakened Awareness was a problem before, a still is after the nerf for Nurse in his vids, and he said Nurse needs to be nerfed.
You also give the "perfect play, perfect scenario" advice to counter it, ignoring the fact that not even the majority of swfs play like that. I always say games should balanced near the top, not pro leagues, or the top tier rank, but 2nd top tier rank to maybe gold, but that's not what dbd is like, and it doesn't have a big enough pro scene for it.
Even if one masters the given advice, 99% of their teammates will not follow it and the match will be over in a few minutes.

Honestly, the fact that 25% exists makes me think that is not an incentive and is just an excuse to say there are BP boosters. Who would be incentivized to switch their role (which is drastically different) just for a 25% bonus? Minimum I'd feel like switching would be 50%, and that is if I'm in the mood.
This isn't a complaint about the amount, just questioning whether or not that is an "incentive", as per wording.

Everyone has always complained about nurse. The complaints increased since they buffed her by making it so she doesn't go into fatigue after being stunned, and since talks started with the add-on nerfs. Also as someone said Alf's been doing this streak with add-ons to show how broken she is. So yes, where is proof that he is going to get the devs to nerf his main, potentially to the point where he can't keep racking up win streaks, just for a bit of views lol

Using the very best as the standard is a bad idea. That's like say because an NFL QB can throw 40 yrs your average person can do the same.
It's not a standard tho. It's an example of someone holding weight to their words as I've said before. Every nurse I come across is at least decent and destroys my teams, and in most cases 50% or more of my games are against nurse, which next to dc's and first hook suiciders had me play the game a lot, a lot less.

I see your point but can you show me someone else with anywhere near that many wins on another killer? Best I can think of is Otzdarva with 100 Plague wins, but that was before MMR. As for the comment that the survivors are bad, everyone occasionally comes across a god squad, and you're telling me he never did?

There is not discussion here.
And he still went and made a video saying to nerf her. He understands that she is not fair and okay for the game.

Um, it's not one opinion from one nurse main. People are constantly saying to nerf nurse, but are always met with the same responses "you don't even play nurse" "show us your gameplay" "you probably suck". I used Alf as an example of someone who holds the most weight so people stop making the same replies.

Much love to the people who create the rift! You are awesome!
Thank you for super creative challenges like "Cleanse 20 totems" or "Commune with 15 glyphs", they are so entertaining to do! Please don't stop and next rift do it "50 totems", it would be much more fun! And let them be in a single trial!
Thank you for the Suffer or Slaughter challenge, which is super easy to do as a survivor and never forces me to play as a killer, because it's so easy nowadays to escape from the trial in solo q. I'm doing this challenge for the whole evening not because killers 4k every match, but because it's so fun that I DC every time so I can do this challenge over and over again!

And send best wishes to your colleagues, who developed MMR system, it works so well that despite the fact that I escaped 0 times from the trials today, it keeps giving me killers that 4k again and again, so I can actually git gud!
Thank you DBD team!
There's your problem, you play for the challenges, not the game. What's the point of the rewards if you don't enjoy playing? They're not even timed challenges.

Camping and slugging both not only have a set time limit but there are perks and ways to get out of those situations. Being blocked in a corner for the match there is no way to get out of that situation unless the killer moves or hits you which is why it's considered holding the game hostage for that survivor.

Again back to the definition of hostage taking, meaning the game cannot end.
"Being blocked in a corner for the match there is no way to get out of that situation unless the killer moves or hits you which is why it's considered holding the game hostage for that survivor."
Survivors do gens, the game ends. The difference between a killer bodyblocking a survivor in a corner and a Bubba face camping you in basement is little for the experience of that 1 person. The only way that it turns into hostage taking is if the survivors don't do gens, in which case they're both participating in it. Worst case, 3 people on 3 gens is 90s, 3 on the last 2 gens an extra 90s + walking to the gens and opening the game is the timer of a bleedout from a slug. The only extra time wasted is the time of the EGC, and that's assuming not a single gen has been touched.
There are many issue with those screenshot posts.
1st pic: Indecisive rule. "It's not okay to do this at this point in the game, but 2 seconds later when another stage of the game starts it's okay to do it" (even thought not much has changed, now there is a timer, which would've started either way)
2nd pic: There is a way to leave, others progress the game. Also "the killer is breaking the rules. they are completely denying one playing from playing the game, even if it wasn't for 30 min like in this case" meaning face camping Bubbas are bannable.
3rd pic: "Body blocking is bannable if it's used to hold the game hostage or grief" Again, it's not holding the game hostage, it can progress. It is definitely griefing, but so is Bubba face camping.
4th pic: says holding the game hostage, but then says it's only that 1 survivor.
5h pic: same as previous ones.
I'm just saying call it what it is, griefing, and don't have such loose rules. :)
-
@HugTheHag said:
I'm pretty sure this is considered hostage taking on the killer's part, regardless of if the other survivors (you) were alive and did gens. This Feng was still prevented from engaging in the game, so the blame would still be on the killer for all of the time she was kept bodyblocked.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/UIWSI3W1BHTA/mandy-hostage-survivors-png.png
"It's immaterial that there are other survivors alive in the game, the killer is preventing [this survivor] from taking part in the game in anyway and they can do nothing about those circumstances."
By the logic of the mod post, camping is hostage taking. Hostage taking means that the game cannot end, so since the other survivors can do gens, open the gate thus starting the end game collapse which lasts 2-4 min, and force have the game end, it's not hostage taking. Then spawn camping and constantly killing/targeting the same person in a shooter is hostage taking too.
The other day I was against a nurse who slugged 3 of us (with 1 person dead) and made us bleed out for 3 minutes. Wouldn't that be hostage taking too?
I'm against people who do that, and think people who play like that need to be removed from the game, but objectively speaking the term "hostage taking" isn't correct here.

Inevitable? Maybe. Without being punished? Depends on the game.
I don't know of a single game ever made that would punish for anything described here. Maybe Overwatch but that's because they have (or had) a system that punishes based on number of reports, which was proven to be a horrible idea in most cases, but for specifics here, there is no game.
Look, every single comment is saying that you're "wrong". You can choose to be stubborn and continue feeling bad when things like this happen, or realize that you're just too sensitive to these things and do what everyone else does, learn that these things happen and learn not to care, or turn off chat like it was previously mentioned. But I am assuming you won't do that for some stubborn reason like "I still want to talk to other people".
Robbery is wrong but you're still gonna lock your door to protect yourself and not say "I don't want to have to lock my door, I want to feel safe in my environment". Use the tools given to you.
I'm not excusing the guy's behavior, but it's the internet, and that is not going to change.

Some players go out of their way to just be the biggest ######### possible - queueing with their friends and teabagging all game long is weirdly contended as "okay". But there's no way that communicating like this in end-game chat should be tolerated by any serious devs or even communiity. Or are they likely already banned and playing on hacked alts with their private "60 hour" accounts?
Yes I've sadly had to censor the names, I've been in trouble with the forum mods for not before. Which I still think is dumb, but that's another matter (honestly, people should be given the tools to avoid being exposed to people like this).
Let's be honest here, the case is that you're too sensitive. After all it was your choice to stay in the end game chat and talk to him. You could've left after the first "ez game" but you wanted to argue.
"there should be a tool to avoid being exposed to people like this"
There is, you can turn off the end screen chat by pressing the icon next to the chat bar.
-
It's actually worse than before tho.
Before I'd run Borrowed Time 100% of the time, which was bad because it was a must have basically, and people I unhook were generally safe. Most... a lot of people ran Borrowed Time as well, so it was a mutually beneficial.
Currently I run Off The Record 100% of the time for myself, but not many other people do, and no one runs Borrowed Time anymore. So with the addition of killers tunneling more since the patch, the unhooked survivors keep getting downed immediately unless I can bodyblock.
I was all for Borrowed Time base kit, but I cannot ignore the fact that match quality has significantly dropped since the patch, with that being one factor.

There's a difference in flicking 180 in a single frame and doing it in a multi-step process. One is near impossible to deal with, the other isn't.

You do realize Blight can't do a 180 flick in a single turn right? The only way to do 180 now is pre-turn or double-flicks, which are both intentional design. Wall sliding is also an intentional mechanic. I have no clue what you mean by "fix". Only hug tech is unintentional, sliding as a whole is not.
He can't do it.. but he can do it. So he can do it? That's why he's #3.

yo,
they must finally understand and accept that.
If I choose to tunnel or camp a survivor as a killer, that is my own decision for which BHVR is not responsible. Tunneling and camping are parts of the game, it's as simple as that.
Fact: BHVR can develop tools that make tunneling and camping less effective and that's a good thing, but you can't remove tunneling and camping from the game entirely, because that would be too much of an intrusion into the killer's game.
Yes, it can be frustrating as a survivor, but you can't and shouldn't prevent it.
Greetings
"can't"
They can remove the grabbing while unhooking, make bubba unable to down more than 1 survivor during a chainsaw sweep, make the new perk that stops the struggle bar basekit (or some version of it), they can make it so that the struggle bar is paused for a few seconds when the killer hits the survivor on the hook. They can do many things.

I've had this on some killer (not demo) but It was fixed after leaving to the menu and going back. So not sure that it's character specific, might be the same case just at an extreme.

1- Let me introduce you to League of Legend's "Ryze Terrorism", a group of Ryze mains who throw games and have dropped his global winrate down to around 40% so that they rework/buff him. It's doable, whether organized or multiple people having the same idea.
2- Playing online since I was around 10 has taught me that a lot.. a lot of people will waste their time to ruin other people's games, even "for the lulz".
3- True but is it a coincidence that DCing and suiciding on first hook has drastically increased since the update, and how the last time that happened (to my knowledge) was when people were dcing against Spirits and Freddys so they rework them?
-
They should make Kindred base kit for like 5-10s from the survivor being hooked
-
Patch wise:
Survivor feels roughly the same, I could say better because I can use a bigger variety of perks.
Killer feels better.
People wise:
Survivor feels like a nightmare with killers increasingly tunneling and face-camping, and a massive increase in meta build Nurses (and Blights). And teammates keep DCing and killing themselves on first hook
Killer feels like a nightmare because queue times are 5-10 min and even when I get into a game it's filled with either a 4-man toxic tryhard squad, or there is are survivors DCing and killing themselves on first hook making the matches shorter than the queue time.
Other-wise:
I've already encountered 2 (obvious) cheaters on the survivor side in the few matches I've played the last few days, once while playing killer, once while playing survivor, whereas I've encountered only one in my past 900 hours I have on the game.
Overall:
It's a nightmare to play the game right now, but it's not the patch's fault. It's the people, and the balance of "some" killers.

Be within 40m, get in a locker, crouch behind a gen, or my personal favorite since the patch, take Distortion.
-
I've experienced killers camping more since the update, and I'm unsure why. They don't need to, the killer experience is overall better now I feel, and I've had a Nurse with a meta build camp my teammate on 5 gens with a DC in team. It's like the overall mind state of the community has degraded since the update (not to the update's fault), and I think the root is the survivor players that constantly DC and suicide on first hook causing everyone to be unhappy.
-
I doubt they'd completely rework her to the point she is like a normal killer, so here's my suggestions.
Make it 1 blink by default, and 2 addons that add blink charges. If people want safety blinks that would prevent them from stacking range/recharge addons. Nurse having 2 blinks has always felt to me like it would be an addon you'd take as a safety, or extra strength.
Also make her blink attacks count like Blight's charging attacks. A secondary attack that's not gonna proc noed/starstruck. At least the blinks past the first one.

A simpler solution, I'd say, is to make his chainsaw stop on first hit like Billy. The difference still would be the fact that Bubba can control his movement while chainsawing and go back and forth in loops.

There is no point to this post. It's just a long meandering account of your experience. It doesn't match the title. We all have experiences like this and we didn't quit. What was your point?
The point is to show that there is a serious issue in the game that is driving people away. Tbh if 80% of your games have been horrible and you didn't stop playing, that just says you're addicted or have nothing else to play. I've seen comments of multiple people saying they're quitting and that's the short time I've been on the forums. 2 out of the 3 people I played with frequently also rarely ever feel like playing anymore.

If the game is balanced, then killer queues should always take longer, you require 4 players for one after all
Killer queues are that long because people don't want to play survivor. 4 people vs 1, but 5s queue vs 10 min isn't really a balanced ratio.
[Edit] That first comment wasn't showing up, sorry.

My q times are no longer than 20 seconds, any time of the day, i can record it.
I believe you, but I think everyone has seen a lot of people complaining about queue times, so believe me as well. It's still a big issue even if not everyone has it.

Too many suggestions and predictions for me.
What do you mean too many predictions?
