It's honestly not hard to do, plus it's not game breaking like adding gens etc..

Reducing the number of perks and reducing variability in builds in a game like this is far more game breaking than simply adjusting a few seconds on the time it takes to do a gen. I dont know how you could even argue that one honestly lol

I thought this was going to be a fun or a somewhat decent idea but... it's pretty bad tbh. All i'm hearing is "gEn RuSH TOo PowERFul". This isn't by any means absolutely horrible just belongs to an whole other topic. Guessing you think doing the objective is too strong as well. Ok nevermind, hearing myself say the idea out loud, it's really bad.

As Maperson stated "just limit they're perks" this should be the SIMPLE numbers change instead of this whole slow down the gen progress bull #########. I can't stress this enough on how EASY!!! It is too slow down gen progress.

limiting the perks is a terrible idea too. Thats limiting the diversity in game play reducing the number of possible builds people can do. I personally feel like tweaking numbers is alot less detrimental to the game than limiting the number of possible builds a person can use. To each their own though

The last time they were brave enough to release stats, SWF had survival rates marginally higher than solos with both being less than 50%. Penalizing SWF when the greatest percentage is already disadvantaged wouldn't make sense. Maybe killer should have a slight debuff right now against solos would make better sense.

i feel like you are missing the point entirely lol. I'm allowing the devs to balance the SWF with a normal solo survivor. Then it allows them to balance killer vs survivor when the survivor itself cant gain advantages outside the game (comms). An SWF basically gets to have a passive Kindred active at all times. This unbalances the solo and SWF making it harder for the devs to balance the game. Implementing this mechanic to even out SWF and solo then balances survivor side and makes it so if things are slightly out of balance in the future all it takes is some number tweaks. Your point in the post is SWF have marginally better escape rates. The proposed "debuff" allows them to balance out that marginal inbalance and then they can look at a killer vs survivor from there.

Do you mean 4 survivors doing a generator TOGETHER should take 81+ seconds to do while the killer is masturbating on the other side of the map? Do you instead mean you don't want perks like Prove thyself to increase this speed too efficiently?

Currently it is most "efficient" for at most 2 people to be on a generator at a time in most cases due to diminishing returns already (in the absence of Prove thyself especially).

1 survivor = Base 80. 2 Survivors = base 47 seconds. 3 Survivors = base 38 seconds. 4 Survivors = 36 seconds (Meaning having that last person on the generator reduces the total time by a wooping 2 seconds already).

I didnt leave the comment above, I started the thread. My idea however though, is that the survivors take 2 sec, 7sec, 12 sec (stacking for each person) longer to repair each gen in general. Solo on the gen or together. Then with multiple survivors on the gen, it works the same as normal just the total gen time instead of 88 sec or whatever it is now becomes 90 sec or 95 sec or 100 sec. Again these are just starting points to turn the balacing into some number adjustments for easier balancing. Spitballing though, with these numbers it adds 1 min to repair time for the whole match for a 4 man. The biggest thing for a killer i find is time. Adding just a small amount of it to the game can make a big difference.

  • @ZCerebrate said:

Honestly sometime like adding an extra generator or nerfing gen speed for SWF probably isn't going to be a thing because most people do just casually play with their friends - and never alone because its not engaging for them enough. You're address the sweaty SWF 4 mans that are all competent vs a larger majority of SWFs that are most likely worse than your average solo queue players (maybe alienating the noobs away).

I would be okay with just having the blood point bonus in general and it showing for everyone involved who was paired together in the post score screen - killers would have a better idea of "How bad this SWF" issue is instead of rage disconnecting and screaming SWF if they see even a smidgen of teamwork among 4 random internet players.

I would also prefer if solo players were just given ingame voice chat OR set text macros (to avoid toxicity) that could be used in game to convey the same information that SWFs enjoy... THEN consequently buff the killer's powers and perks with the assumption that all survivors are at the same level. How effectively a random group work together and pull off info share is another matter that cannot and should not be balanced for anyway...

I hear what youre saying about the casuals and just wanting to play with their friends and have fun. My personal POV on the situation is if they are casual and just shooting the ######### playing the game, all this debuff does is make it so the killer has slightly more time to react playing solo. If they really are just causals and playing the game for some fun with their friends making the game take 1 min longer to do the required task shouldnt be a huge turn off for them. The numbers i proposed were just general thoughts.

In response to your in game mic with randoms, i had a similar thought, however the in game mic leads to alot more people screaming at each other. When you dont know the person, people tend to not care what they say to them and then this leads to people saying things like ######### and stuff and the devs would have to inplement a new system to try to monitor their voice chats in the future.

I appreciate your ideas and counter points.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Why are killers so against the hatch mechanic and 1 survivor having a chance to escape? I don't get it.

Because IT PUNISHES FOR BEING A GOOD KILLER. Its hard to understand??

And if youre with 4 randoms and you are an amazing survivor but they do nothing that survivor is still punished Youre more team dependent as a survivor.

You should not be able to do well in a teamgame if your team is horrible, just my opinion though

So the killer has complete control. If killer is good and the survivor is great but has 3 crap teammates he is still punished and killer is rewarded. That doesn't make sense. Hence the hatch mechanic. If you go to the other thread I accidentally made on the same subject, someone else made a great suggestion IMO for the hatch mechanic fix.

Yes thats how it supposed to be in a teamgame.
Because it cant be real that the killer only has control if the survivors are bad

But giving one person the chance at escape only if the survivors due ok and get atleast 2 gens done isn't taking control away from the killer. Its giving a potential reward for survivors not being terrible. If the escape mechanic for 1 didn't exist this game would have %60 or higher games where the killer gets a 4k, survivors all get 10k or less bp and killer ends up with 30k or close to. I feel the hatch mechanic could use some tweaking for preventing stand offs and long drawn out games because of slugging which is what I'm suggesting however the removal of the mechanic where 1 survivor gets the potential chance to escape would result in a major drop in players forsure.

Yeah yeah major player drop..... that kind of guy you are, I see

My guy Legion has the potential to be what every killer main has been wanting for years. An easy solution to looping and toxic survivors. We press a button and ignore the bs parts of the game that have caused even top killers like Marth to quit.

Killers could have fun again with this Legion. Killers are supposed to be op and scary power role vs 4 weak ones.

You just said it. We press a button and all survivor escape tactics go out the door... That's throwing a quarter of the games design if not more out the window lol...

Is it that big of a loss if that quarter has annoyed killers for years?...Definitely not for us killers it's fun for us we finally have what we wanted.

A game where you go around killing other players who have 0 outplay potential is the game you want?

Just sit and imagine DBD had no windows or pallets, everything else the same, maps and everything, only thing is breaking line of sight. The second the killers on you, you have 10 seconds until you are down. The skill level of the game just about disappears. How many people would want to play survivor against that? That would make no sense.

Same, why do they feel they have to dictate what's skillful or not when they important thing is to have fun. Not every killer should need thousands of hours to be very good. That's part of legions charm to me, he breaks down so many "rules" and expectations survivors have for a killer.

He is honestly needed to shake things up in this game right now tbh.

Yes its fun for you as the killer maybe. Mindless fun though is the problem. Mindless fun is fine against AI. When there is other people playing on the other side of the mindless fun that is where the issue comes in.

But aren't you the survivor, shouldn't you feel stressed?

If it's not Nurse, Billy, Hag, spirit or huntress. You all are the predators(you as in Survivor), not the "killer"

Lol if this game was actually ment to stress a survivor out, there goes your player base, stress is not fun, fear can be but stress no.

All those killers you mentioned have counter play, nurse with the least but its still there. Legion basically results in a pallet standoff, that's your counter play when found. We all know standoffs aren't fun =P

Legion with Frank's Mixtape can now 2 hit down in Frenzy an injured survivor. That's a bit ridiculous. To me it seems like all of Legion's issues can be solved by just changing this add-on. That's really what makes him broken in every case, is that he has to hit you 1 less time to down you. That just shouldn't ever be a thing.

The issue this buff will cause is tunneling off hook not giving the survivor a chance to heal because it makes an easy down. Legions build will now be sloppy, nurses, monitor n abuse, and another 4th perk of choosing. They already made a tunnel machine, this will just increase the tunneling I'm willing to bet.

Alright so i have an idea around the slugging mechanic. Hear me out. We've all been there where the killer is doing a slug build and running around just dropping everyone. That can be fun to play, usually makes the games long but its entertaining from time to time.

The slugging for the 4k though is where the game gets EXTREMELY boring. This usually results in 1 person laying on the ground for 5 min while the other person (generally urban evader lol) usually just ends up running around trying to hide.

I propose the person left on the ground after 1 or 2 min (balancing maybe needed) but the person should get the options to kill themselves. If the person is trying to pick them up then yes it gives them a chance, if not though why should they be forced to sit there and watch for 5 min while everyone runs around them.

I know killers are gonna hate this idea cause heaven forbid they don't get the 4k. I'm simply suggesting this to reduce the long boring end games that happen. Killer mains cant tell me they don't get bored and frustrated walking around for 5 min trying to find someone. Anyway just a thought. Lets here thoughts.

I have a better idea: give the option to survivors still standing to perform a mercy kill on a downed survivor :)

Slugging is the only counter to the hatch mechanic currently. And even that can be countered by DCing (sad that its not punished)

How is it not punished? If the survivor chooses to dc to give another survivor hatch possibility they are literally giving up any items they have, all match points earned and suffer a double depip… how is that not a punishment?

Since pips and BP are completelty meaningless after some time (especialyl on survivor you dont need Bp), it is indeed no punishment. I was talking abaout punishmentrs in the sense of queue time penalty and actual acc banns

Then there would need to be similar punishment for killer dodging ques.

How bout just after a certain time the survivor can get up? I've been running no mither lately,I don't get left on the ground...

    @cortown711
Ive been running it too haha. Honestly tweaking this perk could have a big impact on this aswell. No mither telling the killer you have it from the start is kinda dumb. I'm not entirely sure how to fix this unless you somehow remove the broken status shown to killers. If you started normal health but the first time you got injured you could never be healed up again and it didn't tell the killer then it would be useful. Then if the killer slugs you he wouldn't know you had it until you got back up once. I feel like this is actually a fair balance to it.

Of course "killer mains" will be pissed at this idea. The idea you're suggesting essentially removes the only counter to the hatch mechanic. Committing suicide on the floor is the same as DC'ing to give the last guy the hatch, which is a pretty scummy move. What's the point in having a 4 minute bleedout timer if they can die at 2 minutes? Makes no sense.

It's not removing the mechanic, simply giving the person on the ground an option after a certain period if the other person isn't making an attempt at picking them up. I feel like most SWF or atleast I guess the guys I play with make an attempt to revive, but when your stuck on the ground waiting for that urban evading claudette to pick you up (which shes just hiding so you know its not gonna happen) why should I be forced to sit there because of your "scummy move" to hold me in the game on the ground?

  • @WaffleFalafel

I like your suggestion of the endgame 3rd survivor sacfrice animation starting the exit gates to allow that. That's actually a very good idea. I still see the slugging to prevent that happening to be an issue though. Same thing happens, killer slugs last person to prevent the exit gates being powered to prevent the last survivor from having the chance.

As for the rank of killer with survive with friends. I play as a rank 1 and I have friends rank 10, 5 and 15 (the usual friends I play with. This generally results in a killer rank 8-5 give or take a couple levels. This is just me speaking from personal experience recently so its like they average the survivor rank to the killer rank. What sort of punishment would you have it? it doesn't mean a lot you're right, but neither does giving your other survivor a chance at the hatch imo. Again its a 7k bloodpoint for that person MAYBE the difference in a pip that's about it.

I wish I could agree that points are a joke. I haven't played this game long enough to even level every character to 50 once so I mean points are how you unlock things right? For someone who has 2000+ hours in the game they would be a joke and meaningless agreed. I feel like most survivors do the dc thing for one of 2 reasons, out of spite (mad at the killer for various reasons that happen all the time) or the other survivor isn't even attempting to make a save on you.

  • @WaffleFalafel said:
Once the endgame is fixed, sure. The problem involves any survivor who has selfishly been waiting for the hatch and doesn't save or do gens to get the hatch. The hatch is in no way fair to the killer when you consider SWF. The Skeleton Key, relaying information, and frankly disconnecting for their friends.

If this is to be added to solo players, fine. If we fix the hatch though, we wouldn't have this problem.

If there is a person doing nothing just trying to get the hatch, killer should have a good chance at 4king because there is one person doing nothing.

I don't understand why killers think the hatch is a bad mechanic. Giving the last survivor a chance at escape, why is this so bad? I can understand the skeleton key for a 2 man escape and sometimes 3. 4 man escape rarely happens because all gens need to be finished anyway for the hatch to even spawn. I would say the key is way less in terms compared to a killers ebony mori.

For the disconnecting for their friends, the dc gives up a lot in terms of giving the friend a chance at the hatch which is a 7000bp. said person usually gives up 10k or more bp, an item and double depips so there is a punishment in place for it already.

Slugging is the only counter to the hatch mechanic currently. And even that can be countered by DCing (sad that its not punished)

    1) slugging give nothing in emblem system so someone who may want to down pip may use it
    2) if you can "[BAD WORD]" what the survivor will lose, right now the only way to do something close to it is by DC so survivors will need to lose something in return like half the points they have.
    3) i know many survivors that will "[BAD WORD]" the moment they see the killer ( nurse, bill, legion, spirit... ) so in order to avoid that you need to put time (but keep in mind death from slugging is around 3 min ).
    4) "[BAD WORD]" will give anything to the killer like points or emblem?

In return to points 1 and 4, The killer should receive half the points of a sacrifice if the survivor chooses to do so. The killer has the option to get the full points of the sacrifice and has 1 or 2 min to do so still.

For point 2 I don't understand why the survivor should be punished for not wanting to sit in the match doing nothing. If you're killing yourself on hook you lose your chance to continue the match, get more points and lose any items you have. I feel same rules should apply.

For point 3 I did point a time. Essentially I'm suggesting after being left on the ground for 1 or 2 minutes in 1 instance give the option to self sacrifice if you will.

For point 2 what if we are in the endgame and the killer slugging in order to take the 4k ( yes is a bad move but it's still a way to play). When you give no punished you rewarding bad plays ( same times) and give to players the ability to leave the game other than dc. At the same time, you help the survivors that want to downrank because you say keep your points and lose the pip at the same time. Yes, this idea should work the same with the hook but unlike the hook, slugging give nothing to the emblem so you take the pip from the killer too. The time you use it's a problem too you see you if take less than a hook kill then it's just bad and if you need 2 min what happens if you get down multiple times and don't have 2 min.

The entire thought process behind this is to reduce the, in your words, "bad move" as it makes the game less enjoyable. Why are killers so against the hatch mechanic and 1 survivor having a chance to escape? I don't get it.

The pip system with it could be changed, that's a balancing thing to look at. Again if the survivor chooses to do so count it like half what a sacrifice gives in terms of pips. I feel there is lots of ways to balance out the pipping system if you look at it.

I don't follow what you're trying to say in the last sentence, sorry I don't know what to say in terms of it.

The title says it all. They're allowed to see us and check our accounts and which items we're using and everything but we can't even tell who are we versing. I would rather dodge some players (A couple of hackers that I have reported NOTE: I even reported one of them with evidence and he's still playing and yes we have quite a few of those in South Asia also not to mention some killers with green ping yet jittery lobbies). Some people suggested to me a third party software that helps avoiding players in matchmaking. Now I'm not a big fan of third party softwares nor do I trust them which is why I'm never using this one. Also being able to see the killer's Steam account doesn't change anything about the secrecy of his strategy nor the identity of the killer they're queuing as.

Sum: I wanna Dodge who I don't likea

Killers do this all the time... Like theres no argument there

    • The dying state timer is 3 minutes, not 5.
    • The counter to slugging is recover to max immediately.
    • The standing survivors perform drive-by heals on the fully recovered.

If you don’t fully recover when a killer is slugging, then you are part of the problem. Don’t be part of the problem, and immediately recover to max.

Mb on the bleed out timer. Definitely feels a lot longer on the ground and still I feel like a reduction or that option could provide some quality of life changes.

I'm saying that exact thing. You recover to full but your teammate refuses to pick you up. Instead the sit in the corners hiding waiting to either be found or you bleed out. This is where that option should come into play. The person on the ground is left helpless and sitting there.
