I feel like Myers and Hag have remained the same for too long, they sure could have some tweaks on power and addons to make them better to the current game state (both as buffs and nerfs on some aspects).
Pyramid could get an addon pass and Freddy absolutely need one.
the ammount of Blight's addons that could/should be nerfed is ridiculous and some people seem to agree that Nurse could have some nerfed as well (I don't have enough experience against/as her to say though).
Sadako deserves some love in the form of buffs as well imo.

He does need a clown horn when he's pallet stunned though.
absolutely! Pallet goes down and a loud HONK plays across the map

May I point to something that might be full bananas and have nothing to do with anything at all?
The number 6 materializes in the screen kinda like how the Observer disintegrated on the trailer for this recent tome. In the trailer he (the Observer) bursts into small fragments then to small particles, and the 6 comes into shape from small particles, kinda like some continuity to it. It also is not the same way the number was formed on previous teasers (on the 5th anniversary the 5 came in as a "light ray fade in" instead of a "dust particles fade in").
deep down I think this is just me wanting to see too much meaning on things that don't really have tho

Doesnt make much sense since she isnt Roman or even from European heritage, she is even older than the Roman Empire itself, also altough we dont really know how ancient music sounded the guttural chanting choirs are typically associated with christianity during medieval Europe (altough is not clear if they sounded like modern composers make them sound nowadays).
good point. I think it could work fine having some of the elements from her menu music (the instruments) and her power (the preaching/whispers once she gets the red puke)

TR at 3:04. My favorite fanmade chase music.
omg this menu music is just perfect, the chase also sounds so cool! She truly deserves to get something like this, Saw is such a big franchise, playing with her should pay more homage to the franchise and using some cues from the movie soundtrack could be the perfect way!

Nurse or Hag, for sure...Nurse plzzzz tho🥳
This Hag theme is appealing☝🏽 Kinda tribal
Also dying to hear what they compose for Nurse, and I found this piece to be interesting👇🏽
Actual TR theme begins at 3:30. Prior to that, is just eerie, aged lobby music, not bad, imo
oh my I never really thought much about what Nurse would sound like but that vintage/old/aged style kind of fits pretty well! I sure do hope Hag gets one that matches her as well!

@Brokenbones said:
I think Trapper, Wraith, Nurse and Huntress should all keep the default chase themes. I'd have said Billy too but he got his own chase music so, ye
The most likely candidate will probably be Hag or at a huge stretch (no pun intended), Freddy.
Hag is one of the few killers who has basically remained unchanged for years and personally I wouldn't change her but BHVR did an addon pass on killers who didn't really need it before (Huntress e.g) so it's possible we might see a Hag addon pass in the future
Freddy desperately needs an addon pass, all and I mean ALL of his addons are garbage and add very little. The pallet addons are cool but using an addon to use a different power seems so archaic now that we have killers walking around who have like 3 diff powers already. The Nightmare license seems to be in a weird state though so IDK if they'd ever give him any more than that.
couldn't agree more with your thoughts on both Hag and Freddy. I imagine they may at least take a look onto Hag at some point as swamps remains to be reworked and since she indeed has been as she is for a loooong time (as you also mentioned). Freddy's addons absolutely have to be changed, I don't like the killer as much but still, he doesn't deserve to have so much trash for his bloodweb.
For the OG killers, I kind of agree that some should keep the default one, though I wish they did an unique music for Wraith cause you know it's weird that he has a bell and a cool thematic but the chase music you listen when going against him shows nothing of these.

They usually add ones for when killers get gameplay updates. The next one we know to be getting changes is The Twins, but they already have music. Plague and Trapper also recently got updated but they didn't get any music so maybe that means they are never getting music or it's coming later. It depends on who is getting a gameplay update next i suppose.
that's one of the factors I was thinking. Maybe they would be looking at Hag once they go for that swamp rework. I wonder if they'll also do a power/addon check on her at all, though I don't feel like she needs much change on addons or power but who knows, she's been like she is for a looooong time

I have thought about it. - But so far putting two perks into the chest-hunt seemed like a bit too much. - But maybe I'll give it a try sometime ^-^
(... and maybe go with a 'magpie build' altogether: pharmacy, ace in the hole and appraisal + offering... and just for the fun of it add flash bang on top. And then pile it all up in one place on the map and call it the item shrine.
aight. i'll stop now.)haha imagine you're a killer and see a random survivor leading you to the basement, just to find its floor covered with items xD
-
@JaviiMii said:
medkits. though. technically, i don't bring them but take them. I routinely run pharmacy and have become a bit of a hoarder 😅🙈 But if I actually do bring an item, my go to is a medkit - usually a brown, no add-ons. just having that heal on me if need be is kinda reassuring. And leaving a brown in a chest when i take my green out seems like a nice thing to do as well, right?
Flashlights seem like fun too - but the way my matches tend to go there isnt all that much to do with a flashlight.
If it seems to be NOED-o'Clock I bring a map with range & sharing add-ons.
ah so good to see a fellow chest enthusiast xD if I may suggest something, try Ace in the Hole sometime, gives some pretty fun aspect to when you open a chest as it can be something like a decent medkit with a styptic + self adherent wrap or just a random key with prayer rope + scratched pearl lol

But if you had to bring one item forever what would you bring?
I used to avoid taking items and going with perks that covered the need for them (Inner Strength for healing mostly), but I guess considering the current state of the game and its meta I think if I would bring anything it'd be a medkit with just enough charges to like 2 heals, maybe some addons for those extra BP on great skill checks
-
particularly he's one of my favorite killers to go against, and though I suck at playing him, it is satisfying to hear the sound of his power fully charged and going around at blood rage is quite pleasing. His scream is sick and when you see him charging at you it's always thrilling to try finding spots to avoid him and finding out if you can make it to a certain point of the loop before he can give you the bonk.
-
Honestly I don't think that would fit DBD so well, nor that it is truly a must. I think having the cooldown is fine how it is, and also that would kind of invalidate some perks like Vigil, Blood Echo, Mindbreaker and some killer addons. I think the game does a decent job around the mechanic as it is and gives some interesting variety to mess with it (like with said perks and addons).
-
I can be only Clown, for it is how I was born and how I shall die
-
I honestly see/use it so rarely that I can't say I have an opinion around it at all tbh. As a survivor, it gives me a "oh #########" feeling whenever the first gen pops and I see the killer's aura, but also makes me try to plan ahead to counter it which is kind of cool sometimes. As a killer, it helps when I get a challenge to mori/kill someone. I feel pretty neutral about it tbh
-
I don't take items in match because I go with Ace in the Hole + Pharmacy, since I like how it may spice the match with the "random" factor and also counts as a chance to farm stuff in a way. You could say I "always" load with an emergency med kit by defeault I guess (due to Pharmacy's effect on the first chest)
-
I would really like a killer themed around puppets/mannequins, mostly aesthetically/thematically. So many possibilities to what the power could be: he/she/them could assume the form of other dolls/mannequins around the map, or set them as sentries and traps, maybe even have a power that turned survivors themselves as his puppets temporarily somehow, god so many ideas and I can imagine the lore, music and visuals being so iconic...
I also wish they made Sadako able to completely ignore pallets and windows while demanifested, like able to just go through them without having to interact with the animations, but since they didn't do that to her, they could maybe make a ghost killer; I know it sounds "more of the same" since we have Sadako, Wraith and Spirit already but it there are so many different takes on the "supernatural creature" trope. It could even have more to it than just a copypaste of sadako's demanifestation, maybe some poltergeist like effects and definitely a jumpscare mechanic that could work most of the time regardless of map or survivors being aware of its presence.

I disagree. I'm a P3 Cheryl player and I suck absolute rear-end at the game! 😂 I just play Cheryl cause I think she's super cute, among other things.
glad to know I'm not alone, I started feeling bad being a P3 Cheryl main who loops the basics and sucks mostly while the others are said to be legends of looping xD
-
I really enjoy Clown and Pyramid so much!!! It may be because I like the circus theme and am a fan of Silent Hill, but it truly sounds good for my taste. I really like Billy's theme tho lol. Oni and Nemesis sounds quite epic too and Blight and Pinhead are quite moody/thematic, I like it.
I find Huntress theme to be a bit less interesting than I'd like, and I also can't stand the Deathslinger's theme much because of that specific sound that reminds the noise of a fly (kinda)
-
I would ######### my entire bodyweight if I ever met Clown (and I say that being a Clown main lol). In game tho I think Oni is the scariest when on his power, as in like I always go "######### ######### #########!!!" whenever I'm trying to reach a point in a loop and I just can't tell for sure if I'm safe or not.

How on earth does a team get dunked on by clown while being on haddonfield or while using 4 deadhards, those people had to be throwing so hard, with how easy it is to dunk on clown im surprised people manage to lose against him like that.
Honestly Id take tutorial dwight over them in my solo q, 4 deadhards, COH and 2 bnp and still manage to lose must mean those people had no idea how to play at all.
haha Ikr, I swear it is the best thing in the world to outplay full meta squads like that using the good and old Clown and even the brown party bottle. I wish I had recorded some matches cause it gets really silly often, some really last less than 3mins. I love this build and killer with all my heart

it could have a few less hyper safe pallets so the gameplay would be more dynamic and 50/50 for both sides in my opinion

Ooh, yeah, I hadn't even thought about the Medusa map! A creepy cavern filled with statues of victims would be great! 😄
And I'm guessing Perseus could be the survivor in that chapter as well.
honestly they could even use a random greek character that was just unfortunate enough to get tangled in the Entity's mess, or since they usually make characters from more recent times, they could use an archeologist or historian who is passionate about greek mythology that gets to live closer than he'd like to the stuff he/she studied so much

The Medusa mori could be turning that survivor to stone. Which in turn would be one of the funniest things ever 🤣

What next big license would you all like to see? Not video game licenses though because people that play video games already play this game! What Is a license you think from a show, movie, comic, anime, etc that you think would bring In newer people like how Stranger Things did? Buffy The Vampire Slayer or Supernatural I feel would be good ones! Movies like Alien and The Thing would be cool! Im not super Into anime or graphic novels but Death Note and The Stranger Things novels are cool!
you just said them to me 😆 I dream for a day I'll be able to have Ripley and MacReady working along in a match, I love them both and the movies they're in. The Xenomorph is also so superb in design, I really hope to see it coming to the game someday. I think The Thing could work well enough as a Paragraph tho https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/314211/the-thing-paragraph-survivor-idea#latest

I sincerely don't think it is dark at all, maybe it's something related to your setup/monitor configuration? Or maybe something in mine, Idk. I think RPD however is really dark in some areas, like too dark (especially at that bathroom where a generator sometimes spawns), but with Autohaven and even Swamp I honestly don't have this problem with seeing stuff from afar or up close

I don't know about most of the time, I think the stories being told are often pretty decent, but there are definitely some stinkers out there.
I honestly can't think of any that I find truly "incredible". They have some that are quite simple and straightforward, yet relatable and nice (Meg, Yui, Claudette, even Dwight), and others that are quite intriguing and involving (Billy, Clown, Spirit, Deathslinger, Blight), but it often feels like they don't really know how to work them without being redundant, exaggerating on points that don't really need to, being plain edgy in ways that break you from the narrative, or just not following a consistent line of thought (like how they did Nurse's tome and how Hag and Wraith's lore sound weird when you compare their tome entries to their original character lore).
What I notice is that when you simplify any character's story in a sentence, it works fine and good (Ex: Legion - Rebel teens united by their disdain for society turn out to be a dangerous group that commits a series of reckless acts, including murder / Doctor - A sadistic scientist that is backed up by the government goes too far with his researches on the field of pain / Meg - A teenager with lots of energy turns to athletics until her mother falls ill and she has to face situations that are far beyond her capacities / Yun Jin - A self centered music producer that relutanctly discovers the fact that her most prominent associate is involved with sinister habits that are too dangerous to leave unchecked and turning a blind eye could deal more harm than losing all she fought so hard to build), but when they put it in depth it feels either dragging, confusing, senseless or unnecessarily "complex" in spots that don't really need to be.
I think in the right hands pretty much every story they have been telling so far can be much more than just decent or cool, but to this point I personally haven't felt like they did it to the extent it could be yet.
-
@jesterkind said:
Realistically if I worked at BHVR it'd be as a writer, since that's my vocation, and so my answer would be changing Nurse's awful tome lore lmao
It'd be nice to see adjustments and maybe soft-caps for action speed boosts, though. That'd do a lot to help the game.
they really could use some better writting cause damn they make some really awful or poor stuff most of the time

Personally I bought Pyramid Head because I love the chase music ! But yeah, you can do stylish hits ahah, he sure is a very interesting killer to play !
indeed! His chase music is so great, I also find Clown's chase music one of the best ones when it kicks in! The way Pyramid's power also counters much of the meta is quite interesting
-
it is such a decent and useful concept for a perk, can't believe they haven't done it yet tbh
-
I love Wraith and Clown as my main killers.
Wraith because he's really good looking in most skins and I like the 50/50 hits you can try at some loops when coming out of invisibility.
Clown is kind of a guilty pleasure which I can't really explain, I just love playing him overall and also get immersed with his Lord of the Underworld skin when using a full Hex build where I feel like a "god of curses" and have a chance to either lose terribly or massacre the whole team as soon as they break the first totem.
I also play Pyramid Head and Nemesis quite a lot cause I like the tricky hits that you can get with their power at many loops, which are otherwise pretty impossible on other killers.
As survivor I just adore Cheryl and Jill (mostly using Cheryl always) from the ones that are licensed because I like the characters in their games.
My favorite original survivors are:
Meg (she's 100% bae material imo)
Zarina (she looks really nice and her skins are good to mix)
-
For Killer I love running Dark Devotion, Eruption, Forced Penance, Blood Favor, Mad Grit, sometimes Gearhead and Overcharge
As Survivor I really like using Ace in the Hole, Aftercare, Autodidact, Desperate Measures, Fast Track, Lithe, Pharmacy and Vigil

I want to know, how you are a game developer for a game that's been out for 6 years, and you think Corrective Action should ever be in the game. There's no reason to even make that perk.
Then again, the developers haven't really done anything with survivors for 4 years, except for Circle of Healing and that's getting nerfed into uselessness.
Literally 1 meta perk for survivors in 4 years and the developers are nuking it.
I feel like they also could tweak the "luck" status to be something relevant beyond just self unhooking, like they did with Hemorrhage, it could open a new zone for a new type of perk around Luck as a mechanic which could be interesting if done right, kind like the new mechanic with Scourge Hooks and Boons maybe.
-

I was curious what the absolute worst perks were, by usage and oddly enough, Up the Ante is not the worse, it's the 5th worse. Which absolutely amazes me, because it literally does nothing. LOL. It's Corrective Action at 0.03% usage. I would argue that Corrective Action is actually more useful than Up the Ante.
that's really surprising to me as well since that perk is really so useless considering how Luck affects so little as an in game stats + the value on the perk is not high enough to be useful as well. I would think the Corrective Action is even below due to being more recently added in game while also being kind of not very interesting to pick if not for the Adept achievement, but the other 3 perks in the list aren't so recent which is kind of funny
-
Bond ends up being so frustrating by the simple fact it makes you aware when people are wasting time or being useless in a match, I always go for Aftercare when I want some info aura reading on my teammates because it has a nice activation mechanic and is a two way perk, I really like it.
-

just by reading the title and ignoring all other comments, my immediate thought is Ace 100% which is funny cause I have been using Ace in the Hole for a long time in my P3 Cheryl just to farm some stuff without having to grind in the bloodweb so much and must say I've been enjoying it. Also used Open-Handed for a while to get the Yoichi's healing achievement and could enjoy it in a few matches.
then there's also Ash
-
honestly? I think this is the right way for me to play and enjoy the game on its current state as much as I used to enjoy before. I'll sure give it a try!

I never stopped to think much about Pyramid Head's addons but seeing the consensus here I might have slept on them. I always thought the basic ones (range, recharge, duration) to be like, ok in what they "buffed" on his power (maybe they could tweak the numbers a bit tho), but the different ones that do extra stuff indeed are pretty whatever or plain useless. Yea his purple and iri ones are so lame in what they do compared to lets say Hag or Trickster's addons that add extra effects to their power or even change their gameplay significantly. I wonder what kind of better stuff they could do with PHead's addons.

everytime i think about how strong addons are i think back to the legion addon that reduces fatigue duration by 0.2 seconds 😭
I find it so funny that Blight has nasty addons then we have Nemesis with the stupid "make vaccine chests take a little longer to open or get to hear the killer instinct a little longer all the way across the map while you can't do anything about it!"
