SWF + comms.

dont worry buddy, soon you wont be able to see their ranks so you wont be able to tell if matchmaking is busted.
P.S as someone who has been privileged enough to be in a region where they tested the new matchmaking its actually kind of good. if you have a couple of bad games you will get thrown into a game where the people or person your facing is significantly lower in skill. if your doing real good then you face people way better. The system when its on is very noticeable, but overall I think makes matchmaking more bearable. of course I have no proof or confirmation that I was a player in a region where it was tested but im comfortable in saying that its very noticable when the new matchmaking system is on versus when its off and you get normal matchmaking.
About rank being hidden, I just saw this tweet from DbD: https://twitter.com/deadbybhvr/status/1283498264038453254?s=21
Do we know for sure if they will hide ranks? I honestly do remember them saying that but this tweet makes it seem like they didn’t? :\

Look at your perk tiers. You're not really a level 19 killer. Matchmaking is working in this case.
Sorry but this comment is pretty dumb and ignorant.

Literally everyone hits red rank with consistent play time. Hitting red rank is easy as ######### an a potato can do it.
Hours played almost never equates to skill though. They said the new system will be based on the players skills. Honestly, their explanation is somewhat vague, I don't know what criteria they will use to determine that. Is it play time, I don't know. I genuinely hope they don't mean win/loss ratio, that would be bad particularly because it's something we cannot directly control.

Op means "OverPerforming" so i still don't get what you mean :'D
You tryin to be funny or something? I'm sure you got what I meant but just in case, OP = Original Poster ;)

I’d love that as well.

Wasn’t a shot at you. Was a shot at the notion bhvr has that simply hiding ranks will fix this. If anything it will make the backlash worse because it will be assumed that every match is paired wrong
Yeah I’ll be interested to see what happens.
-
@Snowbawlzzz said:
I personally don't think they should match by rank at all, but by hours played.
I completely disagree. Hours played means nothing especially in this game where queue times are very long.
-
OP is overthinking and creating a problem out of nothing.

@OBX said:
Soon you won’t have the ability to see ranks so it will all be fixed lmao
Ranks will be hidden I know that. Hopefully the new MM system works correctly lol.
-
Yes the current matchmaking system is terrible but that's not that bad tbh. You got lucky since they're only a few ranks above you and the current system matches you with players closer to your rank, it doesn't look at skill or play time. From what I understood, the matchmaking system they're currently working on will focus on opponent/teammate skill levels rather than rank.
I'll just leave this here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/124795/

You’re comparing perks like Unbreakable, Deliverance, Adrenaline and Decisive Strike with Soul Guard? :\

I don't think dbd is ready to have another game mode, because it will divide playerbase which is not big enough. I guess it will massively increase queue times.
But I've been thinking about different game modes. What if there will be 2vs4 mode and Killers are not coop but compete for kills?
I think it’s big enough for at least one mode. Keep in mind we’re getting crossplay very soon. The playerbase on Steam alone is big. We have players from Microsoft Store. The biggest playerbase though is on consoles, PS4 (most DbD players), Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. I disagree with you that DBD is not ready. The game has been out for 4 years, we really need another mode.
-
I also have never played a ranked game with this kind of matchmaking. It’s embarrassing really. And they want to have competitive tournies. What a joke :)

Arguably, it's worse today as there are more perks. Think if you just wanted a particular build for a killer or survivor, and how much is left up to chance in the bloodweb just to get those perks.. and then get them tier III.
True. What with all the teachable perks and more to be added the grind will always be worse than before.
-
We have been asking for a casual mode with the same gameplay objectives for years and we didn’t see anything yet and you want them to add a mode with completely different elements and objectives? Lol. I mean don’t get me wrong I would love new modes to be added in the game, we really need something different but I doubt we’ll see anything of the sort any time soon. There’s only one mode: “ranked” and we don’t even have a practice arena. The game lacks so much.
-
Not Xbox only. This MM issue is also on PC and I’m sure other platforms as well.
-
Soul Guard is not strong at all and is a perk that is too situational to be worth using even. It's just a waste of perk space a lot of the time. I find the other perk Repressed Alliance much more useful.

I seem to recall someone saying months ago that they were working on the grind too.. yet I have seen zero changes to bloodweb (cost, amount of items to complete web, etc.).
Did they talk about the grind? I don't recall. I hope it's true though because the grind in this game sucks, it's especially bad for newer players. And I know it was even worse back in the day but that doesn't mean it's fine now.
-
And you left their names visible? Lol.
-
I'm sure they will change it. This was one of the questions in the recent survey, they asked whether the struggle mechanic needs to change. They know a lot of players don't like it.
-
Seems BHVR wants to lose new players with their dumb matchmaking system.
-
Profit

Which explains one of the reasons there isn't a in-game voicechat. However, I think the main reason there isn't a in-game voicechat is the toxicity of players. Imagine how annoying it would be to get screamed at by a random survivor for not doing something they wanted you to do?
The current state of things are fine.
No, the current state of things are definitely not fine but it’s obvious why you’d think that.
-
So many players have been asking for a practice mode. I hope we get one soon. Or maybe an unranked mode.
-
SWF is OK. No one is preventing you from playing with friends. What is NOT OK is comms! Communicating with your friends during a match and letting each other know of the killer’s every move for instance is NOT OK! It is considered cheating. This is NOT how the game is designed to be played. It ruins the game. It is not fun.
A comment I recently came across on reddit which I completely agree with: “The game is balanced around survivors being disorganized and lacking in communication. Allowing them to organize and communicate breaks the game.”
-
This game really needs a casual mode.
-
I would love to see new modes added to the game. They could make this a casual mode.
-
You want them to implement KB/M support because your controller is broken? Don’t worry, you can disable crossplay on consoles when it gets added ;)
-
No, he’s real serial killer. It just seems so wrong.
-
Yes exactly. It’s not fun for killers or survivors. It makes the game boring. They want to fix this by removing ranks completely from the scoreboard. I don’t know what to think of this, I’m worried they’re doing that so players stop complaining about the unfair matchmaking. When they’ll do that how will we know if they actually fixed this if they’ll be hiding everything, you know? I watched a video about this, he’s a big DbD streamer and he even said that the devs don’t care about fairness (opponent/teammate skills), they care more about time and being put in a match quickly.
-
Did you guys do the survey? In the survey there’s a question about this struggle mechanic whether or not you like it and if you prefer to have skill checks instead.
-
Why is this posted here? Also, check their twitter, you’ll find the link there.
-
So now that you managed to complete these challenges you were complaining about, did your opinion all of a sudden change?
-
Survivors need buffing?? NO.

@Milo said:
They are working on mmr system. We should hear something about it Soon™
Yeah soon™. MM system been horrendous for a long time and they keep saying they’ll fix it. It’s been over a year and still we haven’t seen any improvements. Hopefully really soon™ this time.

@MB666 said:
thats true .....when i find a crew of survivors acting really potatoes i usually let them live because its not them fault...am a rank 1 killer btw soo....
poor baby survivors .... u are evil XD :(
No that wasn’t me! I would never do that. Lol. It was someone from reddit. I just saw it and was like that’s it they need to fix this ASAP.
-
Nope
-
Like others said, just disable crossplay once it's implemented if you're so against it. Having crossplay will decrease queue times a lot though.

The matchmaking is a horror show in itself. There is no good reason for it, so what is the excuse?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/106/20200511_192133.jpg
Laziness. Incompetence.
-
If they don’t do something about this matchmaking before the year ends I’ll stop playing and only come back when it’s fixed and is actually working correctly.
-
@MauriceMaverick said:
Just ask your heart: Is your anger caused by they being better than you or ist caused by them non-verbally offend you with teabagging and bullshit?
Please be honest. If it is the first, yes it is hard, but look at it as an opportunity to train and improve your skills. If it is the second, it is very understandable.
How about by the unbalanced and unfair matchmaking? I think the anger is justified. Matchmaking in this game is an absolute joke.
-
Agreed. We want to mix and match. It’s fun and we don’t want to look the same.
-
Also don’t forget to check the Shrine of Secrets. It resets every Wednesday and from there you can buy up to 4 teachable perks of survivors/killers without having to level all those characters. You buy a perk from the shrine using iridescent shards. You get shards everytime you level up your account.
-
What makes you think the game will be F2P? And yes, it's grindy but why not play to have fun? Don't worry about perks and meta builds. You just started playing, you'll burn yourself out if you keep grinding and not having fun. Also, there's nothing shady about the game or the in-game store, everything on there is optional, nothing pay to win.
-
You’re saying that now but if queue times get even longer you’ll either quit out of frustration or come back here to complain about it xD Not only you but many other players as well. Like I said, a lot of other online games match you with regions closest to you and even globally. If you don’t like that then simply quit playing online games.
-
I suggest checking your internet connection. I have no issues playing with players in me, europe and america. Matchmaking first checks regional then expands to close regions then global to decrease queue times. If they restrict matchmaking to regional only then it will take even longer to find a match. Do you want queue times to be longer than they already are? Also regional only will make it hard to find matches very late at night or early morning. Players with different timezones will make the game find matches more quicker as opposed to same region.
-
Which is basically how it is with so many other online games. We’re not talking about Australia here which is considered on the other side of the world.
-
Saudi Arabia is not considered on the other side of the world if you're in Europe.
