didn't they ban people for using double legion blades when that was a bug?
they have some sort of algorithm that tracks how often people used something before it became a known bug vs how often they used it afterwards, from what i can recall

@JetTheWaffleCat This blew my ######### mind. I honest to god never knew there was actual strategic ways to stop loops sooner. I always just brute forced them if I couldn't mindgame the red glow. Thank you, kind sir. You are a gentleman and a scholar!
i'd highly recommend scott's youtube! very informative killer main, lots of great tips in his videos
he's a lot of fun to watch on twitch too

correct me if i'm wrong but i believe i said is, not was
-
idk what that means
legion rework was great for the game
sorry you aren't getting free downs
-
slugging is just strategy and there are times when it's literally necessary to win
i understand if you don't like to do it, but you need to understand that not doing it when it's the only good play is shooting yourself in the foot
-
i've noticed that killers get them more than survivors do, and i'm wondering if this is because survivors get firecrackers and there's a limited distribution of event items per bloodweb
-
@AStupidMonkeyy 2 window loops is fair if you aren't sure how the survivor plays and can't necessarily predict them well. keep in mind that these window loops aren't huge loops like the ironworks window or an asylum window, so even if they get 2 loops out of it you aren't losing too much time or distance unless you mess up
-
totally agree with you on the storehouse and abatoir windows but personally even with medium vaults i think those loops are stupid and i'd be happier if they were just altered or removed
as for other loops, i guess i just don't encounter those vaults often, or didn't before this patch? i almost never saw a survivor get a fast vault i didn't think they should have. more often than not i'd see them get a medium vault and i'd autoaim onto the side of the window or something, and don't even get me started on chainsaws' interactions with medium vaults
i also completely agree that something that is incredibly broken should not simply be left as it is because it takes "skill" (hello nurse)
-
@AStupidMonkeyy you can see where the killer is coming until you actually commit to doing something
because that's what shack is, you eventually have to commit to a play. if you don't commit to a window vault or a fake soon enough the killer just hits you in shack. as a survivor you're the one being chased and you only have a couple of seconds to determine what the killer is about to do and respond to it. you don't have the time to sit there and see where he's going through the wall, and even if you use that as a tell he can just as easily fake where he's going and bait you into either vaulting or faking the vault
this is why shack is one of those places where survivors and killers are on relative equal footing assuming equal skill level. obviously a good survivor is going to run a bad killer around the shack for a very long time and a bad survivor is going to drop the pallet and go down in 10 seconds anyway. either side can outplay the other. using visual cues is smart but ultimately what gets you another loop or gets you downed is predicting the other side
-
the devs pretty clearly listen to feedback. much of the changes that went into new legion were directly from veteran players' suggestions, and i imagine the freddy rework will at least attempt to address people's problems with current freddy
MoM nerf, DS nerf are also examples of the devs listening to feedback
-
it's definitely not a guaranteed 3 loop without bamboozle
at most, a survivor should get 1 loop out of the window before you figure out how they loop shack and react accordingly. killers can mindgame shack just as survivors can. if a survivor fakes a window a lot, pretend to cut them off at the window then double back and run into shack; at this point all they can do is either drop the pallet or medium vault, and good players hate wasting shack pallet (i'll die for that thing)
alternatively if they just W game and don't mindgame anything you can cut them off after the vault
does this work all the time? of course not, nothing in this game is guaranteed and i'm making it sound easier than it is. but nothing about shack guarantees three loops and you absolutely do not need bamboozle to run it properly
bamboozle is actually just another bandaid fix for bad map design. instead of fixing problem windows they added a perk you can run to cut these windows off after one loop. again, the problem with this is that now other, weaker loops suffer

This whole thread is just showing the survivor vs killer mentality. Why can’t people see things from both sides?
it's easier for them to come at things with no nuance
-
prestiging is really never worth it unless you really want that bloody clothing. i just do it because i'm a completionist who loves the grind
-
@AStupidMonkeyy i mean i guess, but that's like saying they should remove the red stain. both sides can see through the cracks and see grass move through the walls. there being tells to see which direction someone is going doesn't really remove the mindgameable nature of shack. faking windows, looping unpredictably and moonwalking are all still viable strategies that can catch the other side off guard
-
it's mean spirited, but not reportable. it's not like he continuously made you wiggle, downed you, and then made you wiggle over and over

you're supposed to be able to hear survivors' breathing even when they aren't moving

Because it took "skill" to do is not a valid argument to keep the unintended fast vaults in the game.
Let's assume dedicated servers came out and it's once again possible for a Huntress hatchet to double hit people, but now for it to happen the Huntress has to aim very precisely to get the double hit like she could do on the PTB that one time, would that be fair to leave it in, because it's hard to do but possible despite it being completely unintentional?
This is assuming that certain fast vaults that weren't intended were even hard to do in the first place which, no, some weren't once you knew how to do them and made some loops fool proof because even if you made a mistake, it didn't matter.
can i ask which fast vaults, specifically, you are referring to with this post?
-
i think people are more peeved at why this change was made to begin with than the actual consequences of it (although like i said, the consequences regarding already perfectly manageable structures rub me the wrong way). i'd be surprised if anyone had actually said that fast vaulting shack window from either end of shack was impossible, but we're on this forum where people say things like "shack is an infinite" so anything's possible i guess
my stance on this topic is mostly influenced by my experience playing killer, not survivor. i have a lot of experience chasing people around broken structures and shack simply isn't one of them. it's a strong loop when run well but it's also a very skill-based loop and it can be mindgamed by both sides. other structures that can be run properly by a toddler like the asylum aren't affected by these changes, that's my main concern with the direction BHVR is going with their balance changes
on the other hand they did say they intend on reworking multiple maps so i live in hope
-
@AStupidMonkeyy said:
@miaasma He hugged the pallet when he ran in which is what everyone keeps saying is impossible to fast vault because of it. You only get a medium vault now but that's not true. He hugged the pallet, still got a fast vault. It's about knowing the 3 step distance.
uh, i don't think you understand why people are complaining about this. nobody says hugging the pallet and then fast vaulting is impossible, you just have to properly angle yourself
-
no, i don't, and i think they're representative of a larger issue regarding BHVR's ability to fix design problems
supposing that this was meant to fix infinite windows being fast vaulted, most problem windows (ironworks, suffo pit, wretched shop, cowshed, asylum etc.) are unaffected. the only problem window i can think of that this impacts directly is the storehouse window being vaulted from the inside, and that window probably should just be closed permanently anyway
the tiles mostly affected by these changes are mindgameable tiles that did not need shadow nerfs. instead of fixing the structures themselves they release a catch-all fix that deals with the real problem poorly and nerfs things that weren't problems
-
@AStupidMonkeyy said:
@miaasma https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bOSjAk7e5I At 6:23, he fast vaults after hugging the pallet side of the shack. What is the issue?
he didn't hug anything? he came at it at the correct angle and vaulted it
not sure why you're @ing me, i don't have any issue looping shack. the only reason shack is even a part of this discussion is because certain incredibly clueless people think it's an infinite. my issue is more with the way it affects jungle gyms and 4lanes although i personally have no trouble fast vaulting these tiles effectively
also, why did you make 4 separate posts saying exactly the same thing? why are people with bill icons like this

That can only come from someone who was never really into one of them and also like to see killers in general gutted.
It is not even what survivors wanted besides a small but vocal minority. As a former Legion main, I have not followed the pig discussion much, but even by the Legion I have seen some survivors on the steam and dbd forums that were against the patch. That had enjoy the state before and that were only the forums. What I have read in the forums was nothing compared to my endgame chat, where mostly survivors had thank me for a good, or challenging game (I don't link to a picture of that again, if someone has doubt he should search that thread where I have post a screenshot by myself for evidence).
And I bet we can say the same about the pig.
Also many survivors dislike it that they only meet the nurse, spirit and billy in red ranks. They would like to have a change more often if you look into the countless threads about exactly that topic.
But a change can only happen if more killers are viable in red ranks. That should be logic, or did someone really to expect killers, to play low tier killers in red ranks? Well... maybe that small minority from before I guess... but besides them, no one would do it.
Strong killers are a win for both sites. Killers have then fun with their killer of choice (a thing they mostly pay for since all the chapters cost money) and survivors have finally diversity under their opponents.
In the name of every killer who is not part of the "red rank elite", please make the killers more viable, devs. That means either take "reworks" back, or in other cases from killers that had the luck until now, to be not reworked, buff them and what the few red rank killers matters... Don't nerf them to hell please -_-.
Not every survivor likes a easy game, even I can understand that this thought comes up, after reading X nerf threads in the forums, but a look in the endgame chat speaks often a different language, if the killer has not play toxic (aka. facecamp, or tunneling for feeled centurys).
i stopped reading at "as a former legion main"
previous legion downed people for free even without exploiting
current legion gets you a free hit and then requires you to actually play the game in order to down someone
if you're complaining about current legion then you aren't the type of player the devs are balancing for and the rest of us are happy for that

Not to mention the shack is long enough to break chases, which resets Bloodlust and makes Window Blockers not proc.
But I mean, that's whatever I guess. Definitely takes skill to break LoS I guess.
i'm sorry but the fact that you think you need bloodlust or window blocker to run shack as a killer is just laughable
like you honestly are totally clueless about this topic and you just type paragraphs about it anyway

I mean, it took you what, 2000 hours to get to Rank 1 judging by your time played and when you earned Rank 1?
I don't think I need to worry about what you consider skillful.
2000 hours to get rank 1? how did you possibly come to that conclusion lol
i guess you can just make stuff up to fit your narrative whilst parroting shack being an infinite if it makes you feel better about being bad at the game
-
uh i don't care if you get banned dude i'm just telling you that pipping as survivor is piss easy and so is running shack as killer
if you have issues with either of these things you either don't care or you aren't good at the game
-
it's literally nowhere near impossible
i never said i died first, i just said i died
jesus christ this is a lot
-
you think dying prevents you from getting two iridescent emblems, what? dying literally only affects survival. the rest are easy to get even if you die
this whole conversation is super embarrassing for you honestly
-
i play solo queue dude
i pip almost every game provided i don't get tunneled or one hooked
you think shack is an infinite because you are bad at the game, point blank, i'm sorry if this is hard for you to swallow
-
@weirdkid5 said:

So you're telling me you can consistently get 3 Gold and one iridescent Emblem at the high ranks? Are you actually saying that the Survivors that are complaining about it being too hard to pip are just whining then?
It isn't hard to pip at low ranks. Have you actually maintained your Red Rank? Can you prove you have with a stream?
Have you ever noticed when I disagree with you, I never simply say you're bad at the game? It's because I generally assume most people on these forums are halfway decent.
However, if you can't even get to Red Ranks you have no business saying that pipping doesn't show skill, when you have to get at least 2 saves, run a chase for longer than a minute, do at least 3 gens, AND survive the trial just to get a pip.
You're saying most Survivors can do that on a regular basis? Lol
And actually, I have provided several reasons on how it is an infinite. You're just ignoring them. Try reading my posts again.
i'm rank 3 right now and i die almost every game because i play like a boosted idiot
pipping is not hard
you guys are bad
i'm not going to offer more than that to anyone deluded enough to think shack is an infinite, sorry

Can you actually provide any kind of tangible argument other than "lol ur bad" Mr. IblockSpirit Players?
Again, I don't play Killer, but I'm able to recognize nonsense when it appears. And the shack is nonsense.
I'd like for you to actually be able to prove I'm bad.
Oh wait, you can't, because I stream every game I play and I pip up literally almost every game, even when I die.
Stop yourself.
wow pipping as a survivor? nevermind, discussion over, i'm talking to a seasoned professional
i'm not getting anything from you guys other than "actually shack IS an infinite" so no, i'm not going to say anything other than i'm pretty sure you guys just suck
-
@weirdkid5 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/536289#Comment_536289
The problem is that the shack can break LoS and the chase long enough for Entity blockers to be reset and for Bloodlust to be reset when the loop is started at maximum distance.
Played correctly around the Killer's mindgames, which isn't difficult with a 3rd person camera, and you can easily loop the window 4 or more times.
you guys are literally just bad at the game, i don't know how you don't see this
if a chase at shack lasts this long, you're the problem

Sorry that you don't use an entirely viable strategy because you don't like it. You are missing out on 50% of what makes a survivor a survivor by not utilizing stealth.
Sorry you can't accept this is also somewhat of a stealth oriented game. Hiding is the best way to avoid dying, and you are rewarded for being stealthy near the Killer now. I've gotten Gold Evader strictly from stealth before.
I've also been yelled at for being a stealth player. Presumably because the Killer's eyes weren't working properly. It isn't my fault you look directly in my direction and don't see me.
Fyi, I play Meg.
about what i expected

The fact is, the survivor should NEVER, EVER have the upper hand in a chase. When the killer knows where they are, they should always be in grave danger. That's what the game is supposed to be.

If they are in fact staring directly at Ghost Face mid chase and not revealing him, how is widening the zone going to change this?
This is not a fix, it is a nerf due to feedback from survivors saying it is too hard.
If there is a BUG that makes it so he is not getting revealed, then I am all for a fix, but right now it looks like just a nerf to him. A nerf made based on feedback before the killer has had any substantial playtime.
IIRC they're hotfixing it in general, not just widening the zone
i agree that a full on nerf isn't a step in the right direction, but his power currently does not work properly and it absolutely needs to be fixed
-
@artist said:
shack is an infinite btw. it's hard to value someone's opinions when they genuinely believe this
can't really take anything on this forum seriously anymore knowing how many people genuinely believe that shack is an infinite to be honest
it does contextualize a lot of these people's posts on other topics though
-
darn a killer's going to work properly and killer players won't get free downs because of buggy and inconsistent mechanics, better review bomb the game and call bhvr unethical
i recall similar outrage when legion was reworked (or "nerfed" as some incredibly special people on this forum like to put it) despite it being a healthy change for the game, killers complained that they essentially weren't getting downs for free anymore
right now you can stare directly at a ghostface mid chase and not reveal him, get exposed, and go down for free. i understand some of you are terrible at this game and want this to be the case but it'd be a lot better if you gained some perspective and understood why such a thing needs tweaking
-

Yeah this is a bug fix, but oh man that fast vault change is super unhealthy for the game lmao
you are highly embarrassing
-
okay there's literally nothing to discuss with someone who unironically says that shack is an infinite
"shack is an infinite" is a meme
-
"you can infinite the shack if certain tiles are near it" wow, it's almost like this had nothing to do with the discussion until you moved the goal posts
yes shack is extremely strong NEXT to something else, i absolutely never said that shack cannot make strong setups, but shack by itself is not a god loop
shack is not an infinite and it's incredibly embarrassing that you're even making this argument
-
shack was never a "god loop", it's just a strong loop
neutering it so that it can be fast vaulted under fewer conditions was not needed and is not a healthy change at all
you have people on this forum unironically saying that shack is an infinite though so i guess i can't be surprised at a response like yours
-
you can report people who are abusive. chat logs are saved automatically so if someone has actually said something explicitly bad (a racial slur for example) action can be taken
no idea what kind of action, but it is something we're encouraged to do
-
why would they cancel a bug fix
-
yeah it's a really unpleasant bug. hopefully it's fixed soon
-
my take is that the game is survivor sided in general, but you can make it killer sided (for yourself) by equipping certain things on certain killers
or by running an ebony mori offering
