I have run into that issue a few times. I have had days where I linger over the button after getting ruthlessly tunneled, but I always remind myself that it's just one game. Also, has anyone else been having trouble with DC's??? I have been forced out after loading in so many times and I get a penalty even though the game crashed. Any advice?

Felix, I am your father! 😱
Felix is already daddy, amirite

I have a feeling it might be Felix's dad to go further into the lore of the dimension

I'm sorry this happened to you! I'm a survivor main and understand the struggle-- I wear cutesy cosmetics because it's the closest to my irl outfits and I have seen people say that it's more provocative and like you're begging to get tunneled and camped. I was in red ranks for a bit and am back in purple since the reset yesterday, but I encountered a lot of fair killers in those ranks. Yeah, you get the sluggers and proxy campers every so often, but sometimes you get wonderful teammates! Believe me, I have almost DC'd a few times this week: On my first hook my teammate t-bagged and then spammed rescuing me when i was struggling before leaving, met a lot of undying ruin and bbq chili killers, and people calling me a 'meghead' haha. All I can say is to have patience and keep practicing. It's competitive, and some people would rather have a quick win then think about fairness. If you decide to play again, I wish you good luck in future matches and to have fun :)!!
-
Joke's on you, I'm a survivor main and still lose on Ormond because I suck!
-
Of course the poster means just doing gens rather than helping someone, not face campers and insidious killers-- But you should still risk saving them if it means they will be distracted for a moment. Also, if you have kindred on and see the killer leave but stay at a gen when you can see others doing the same, one of you needs to go help. It's the point of the game, not just gen rushing.
-
I want a victorian style dress for Meg and the gals-- Blight has such a cool collection of vintage outfits and I think it would be fun to run around in a giant dress!!

I mean that's why, I was playing the way I was trying to be as fair as possible, I play killer all the time this way,but when I play survivor I get tunneled and camped.I know what it's like through the looking glass ,there's only rare occasions where a killer is respectful to me but, I didn't let the negativity effect me. Every survivor I play against never shows the same respect as I do to other players, they've always been obnoxious,rude,and toxic sure, I like to be a little naughty but it's all in good fun never toxic and, I can tell it's not toxic because of their response to my actions, but for the last month even longer everytime a survivor beats me they either gloat or Tbagg really hard or worst ,you get tired of that same ole routine trying to be fair only to not receive it back.
I'm really sorry to hear this :(. I always appreciate killers that play fair and don't constantly go after the freshly unhooked survivors and camp, but not everyone will. Just know that a lot of players are happy to have people like you and that it's ok to cave in and maaaaybe camp the toxic ones lol! I don'y have post game chat, but I always assume someone is ready to yell at me for not healing them fast enough or messing up a gen, or even playing nice as killer to help them get points between matches, because ignorance is bliss in this case!! Good luck in your future matches and I hope survivors appreciate you more :)!
-
Thirst Trap: If you are picked up and on your final hook, you make the killer uncomfortable by getting way too into it. Your wiggle sounds are disgusting as well as 15% faster. If you escape their grasp, you become the obsession much to the killer's dismay.
-
Hello!! I have only been playing for like 6 months and am a survivor main, but when I play killer I unfortunately come across a few SWF or toxic players, but I still have fun! I try not to take my matches too seriously, it's just a game after all, but as a red rank survivor I understand the rush of getting those sweet sweet pips lol. Also, I have been running into a lot of sluggers and campers, but I choose to just hope for the best. It sucks, and although it's a strategy, it's pretty scummy haha. Either way, good luck in your future matches and I hope you get groups that are smart but also not mean to you-- calling out the 4 flashlight teams who pallet drop and wait for you to break it >:(((

Hi so I'm in red ranks, not brown/green. Spirits can't track blood but they have scratches and, this is the killer one here, sound. A spirit with a good headset and surround sound will dominate, particularly if they use stridor. Iron Will can only do so much, and you're limited to 4 perks meaning that in solo-q you're gonna have to make a lot of compromises, and you can bet as soon as you take off one perk the exact scenario you had it on for will happen 4 games in a row.
I am rank 5 and two pips away from going back to 4, I have faced Spirit many times and I definitely prefer other killers lmao. I just think the counter should include UE because it's good for when you are doing a gen and she starts phasing. But yes, with certain add ons she can see blood, and I meant that if she uses nurse's calling with that it's over lol. Sound thing is good to know! I main GF and blight, I played her once and couldn't hear a thing. I'll keep this in mind!! Thank you, and good luck in future matches :)!
-
I find Spirit to be easy to counter, since they can only see scratch marks and blood. If they run NC it's just a case of hiding in a locker until they find a new victim, but it takes time to meet a decent killer who uses strategies other than camping/tunneling/slugging if ur in the brown/green ranks. Urban evasion is a must for me, and I find it easier to go behind a tree or toward another gen when she finds me, same with PH. I have a hard time with clown and doctor, just because they have a good range and you can't really do much when under their attacks at a close range.
-
@GoshJosh said:
It's rather idiotic. The highest cost item would be a skeleton key + two rare add-ons, costing a whopping 19,000 BP. All a killer has to do is use one perk slot to potentially delete such an expensive item in the trial? I mean, you might not even escape the trial earning that much. New Franklin's is bogus.
Edit: Figured out PI is Plunderer's Instinct. Duh.
I agree-- I really think a highlight would help, since you can't go towards the killer after losing it just to lose it again if you get downed. I think a highlight for a short amount of time would be great, since survivors depend on items so much. And yes, PI is good, but it's a whole slot for the rare case the killer is using FD.
-
are we playing the same game? Bubba is a notorious face camper because he has an insta down if someone attempts to unhook lol. Also, Myers has stood in a corner by my hook just stalking countless times. It happened a few days ago. I wish I could play your games because I somehow always get the slugging clown and FC bubba/myers
-
drop them and pick them up, it's been working for me :)!
-
I don't like camping because if it's first hook and they just sit there then I lose all of my points. In the same way killers don't like being abused with those flashlight users (Not the ones who are respectful, the ones who ACTIVELY LOOK FOR YOU AND PALLET SLAM AND ALL THAT BS TO BLIND YOU LMAO) as well as the survivors that are running farming perks (which also ruin it for other survivors if they aren't careful), survivors don't like getting f'd over and having people play like a jerk. The point of the game is to win. There are ways of doing that-- with a good group of survivors, NOT toxic players in general) that will allow both sides to have a good time. Hook, slash, damage, whatever, but getting tunneled while 3 gens pop is not fun. I'm sorry that some of you have met bad people on both sides, but I like to come out of those matches knowing that I'm playing the game in a way that allows everyone to have a good time. So, on that note, good luck in future matches and do your best :)!!

Sorry but people are free to say what they want on their own stream/channel/etc so long as it follows ToS
being called a potato for going down after 20 seconds isn’t some hate crime
Just to make things clear, I understand when people criticize or say things on a stream for their audience, I am really new to gaming and I thought that I made their experience bad by playing so poorly according to them. I just want advice because I saw the stream a day later and they were making fun of me for doing little things and I wasn't sure how to feel about it. Sorry!
-
@ZCerebrate said:
Tons of generalizations being thrown around in this thread with the only one that is really true probably that having "TTV" in your display name meaning the streamer is probably very small time and trying to attract whatever viewers they can even from ingame. Bigger streamers who have been around for awhile tend to even mask their twitch names so they don't get sniped as often (Otzdarva, Monto, CoconutRTS etc.) though not all of them (OhTofu, Tru3, ScottJund, Umbra, etc.)
The same people here who are saying streamers are all toxic are the same ones that are likely to paint all survivors as salty crybabies or vice versa. It's never that black and white - it's just easier to say it like that so people bend that way just like the real world.
Honestly though, no one is going to fix ignorance by being mad about it on the internet. Just keep being humble and reflecting the behavior you want to see in others - if people are unabashedly rude then mute, quick report, move on or whatever and live a happier life. This applies to all internet games - whether the report does anything or not... the culture of sensitivity is only really ignored on the internet until that slippery slope of stricter net neutrality stuff starts to come in along with all the other bad sides full accountability on the net will bring
Oh no! I didn't mean to seem mad, I am genuinely disappointed in my game play because the streamer was really letting me have it and I thought I was ruining their experience by not being at their level (I was rank 8 at the time and they were in green) and I felt horrible about it. But yes, I got into playing games literally 5 months ago, so this is all very new to me. I'm still learning and I want to make sure we all have a good time, so I got upset when this person seemed to be super upset with me when I thought I was doing a good job.

@KingFrost said:
Yeah, I've seen that happen.
One called me 'useless' despite the fact that he went down in chase after 10 seconds against a Pig, and I had to unhook him and his buddy twice. Why no, I didn't get any gens done while I was busy trying to save everyone on the other side of the map for 90% of the match.
I've seen some nicer ones, though. Those are the ones I tend to give a follow to. They also tend to have more followers.
I have actually had streamers give me good feedback and actually tell the audience that i played as a specific character lol! Very kind and their stream was very fun, just laidback and making jokes without being too mean. That was my first experience being streamed so I was curious what it looked like from their perspective and it became a habit if I felt stuck and happened to see one at the end of my match.
-
@BigTimeGamer said:

Yeah, I just hate how stupid I looked in it haha. Oh well, you live and you learn

TTVers are trying to gain an audience, talking ######### about other players in a match might be a way to grow their audience, but i'm just guessing.
You are probably better off moving to the next match and not watch the video.
Haha, you got me there! I just assume that they have advice or I can see a trend in how people play a certain killer, but this was the first stream I've seen where I was getting obliterated by this guy and I was like 'wow i guess i do suck'
-
Actually, I will load into a match and have my game crash super early, and this has happened when I play as killer. I really doubt anyone would dip 5 seconds into a match lol. And I personally LOVE the blight. He's fun to play against and the character design is horrifying to see when cleansing and repairing

Reminds me of a match on Ormond against a newer Nurse.
Never downed anyone (got like 2 hits the entire match), gens got done, got Tbagged at the exits by the other 3 Survivors.
Gave her my flashlight I found, let her down me, and let myself die to EGC so she gets Bloodpoints because it was a Rank 17 Nurse with 3 perks at tier 1.
TL;DR: Take my Bloodpoints and get some decent Perks.
I do the same thing if I notice they are struggling. It's upsetting that so many survivor mains can be rude, especially if the killer is playing fair and not tunneling/camping/slugging etc. I usually teabag and wave for them to get me as a sign of thanks for not DCing and also so they know I appreciate their trying. It's the little things that count <3!
-
@BubbaMain64 said:
Here comes the entitled killer mains. I get that the bugs are frustrating, but acting like the game is literally impossible to win as killer is also very annoying and a view point too many share. If you lose two gens in one chase then you should've left that person earlier, or downed them faster. It's all about creating pressure and most killers lose because they don't know how to create pressure.
I got nervous when I saw you main Bubba but you are speaking hard facts. Had a match where I was chased long enough for three gens to get popped and killer still chased me down. Also, no offense about the Bubba thing, I just keep meeting mains who face camp and slug

@Mekochi said:
Spirit never got a nerf despite all the whining of survivors, ruin was nerfed because both sides were unhappy and new ruin is better, Lightborn and Knockout were buffed.
You say survivors only get buffs, toolboxes have been rendered useless, flashlight angles were changed so everyone had to adapt to new angles. Killers recently got Hex: Undying, pair that with Ruin or Haunted Grounds and you are definitely getting more than one kill.
Survivors have DS as an anti-momentum perk, yes. But it also helps if they are dead on hook, plus the stun is only 3 seconds now. Eat the DS and move on. I have cross-play on and I can't tell you how many times I got tunneled by killers in purple/red ranks yesterday.
If you want kills, either eat the DS and render it useless so it can't be used or force them to use unbreakable early, again, so it can't be used. That is all I can tell you, sorry if this comes off as an entitled survivor main, but that's all I can really tell you. I've been trying to help avoid getting Spirit nerfed, Stridor on Spirit is the only thing difficult to counter.
Completely agree with you. I have only been playing for like 5 months but the amount of times I have considered deleting this game omg. The tunnelers are the worst, and don't get me started on running into Bubba when he's slugging all of your teammates and camping them. I hope that our items can get better usage this year or the next, but it's infuriating to be working on a gen alone with a commodious toolbox and then barely reaching a quarter of the way through the gen.
-
I think it's helpful to have these perks, especially for tunneling and face campers. Survivors need perks like that to, y'know, survive, so being able to stun the killer is actually a nice addition to the game. And on the topic of nerfing stuff, have you seen some of these killer perks? Haunted Ground? Blood Favour? I'm All Ears? I don't think any of them need to be nerfed, but the point of the game is to challenge yourself and be strategic. Yes, a group of players using DS is obnoxious, but can only be used once per match. You can slug them, but that's a bit scummy. All I can really advise is to be patient and learn the patterns of survivors. Not all of us are toxic, and I have had experiences with BT and DS users who farm me and my teammates, so the representation isn't great. Good luck in future matches and remember that it's only once per match, and then you can down them and not worry about it lol
-
I've never used DS, but I have seen so many killer mains get upset with it. The point of the game is to win lol. So when you get downed and then pass a hard skill check with a short stun, either get them again or go find something else. I have been DS'd before and it's not the end of the world. A good strategy would be waiting for the timer on the perk (assuming they have it on them) or going to gens. I'm not an amazing killer but I main survivor, and every time there is a DS player they have been respectful of the game. I have, however, met some people who teabag after hitting the skill check or use their flashlights which isn't a great strategy lmao
-
When I know I'm about to get hit or downed, I'll teabag and spin with them as a sign of me saying 'yeah, you earned it and are good as this killer' but i always worry it will come off as me being super condescending. Did it with Blight once and we spun together, good times <3! But I will angrily do it and purposely get pallets if it's a face camper or someone who downs every teammate/ camps a downed player, just to add ~spice~ to the match.
-
I have had some wonderful teammates and fair killers before, and it always gives me hope for the community. But then the toxic players come in... I was body blocked at the exit gates by my team last night while the killer was AFK and everyone but me and one of the main trolls died, and I once had a match where the huntress kept dropping me just to have my team heal me, just to down me AGAIN, drop me, make them heal, over and over until i DC'd because I was so upset. Just a few nights ago I was rank 6, but after a bunch of tunneling, moris, and teammates waiting until i was dying on hook to rescue me, I dropped all the way to 8. Definitely not a fun week.
-
@yobuddd said:
Discourage camping you mean? Anyway, I see where you’re coming from, but if you pull off in front of a camper, he’ll just immediately down you again.
Maybe if it became base-kit to always get Endurance when you pull off, along with your idea of increased chance near killer.......
That would be really helpful! At least then, in the off chance you don't die lol, you could get a moment to get back into the game.
-
I think the game is easier for people who are good at it, no matter the side. You can run perks that block windows and pallets for a short amount of time, but I would say to take it with grace and hope for the best next round! I have been having the opposite issue: I have been getting tunneled non stop and getting teammates that wait until im struggling on the hook to help me, which just makes me the best target for the killer. It sucks, and I went from a rank 6 survivor to pretty close to 8 again IN ONE NIGHT and I just had to stop or else I would legit cry!! Good luck, and I hope that it gets better this week!
-
I'm more of a ghostface kinda girl myself, but Felix do be lookin pretty fresh
-
I'm sorry that this happened! I have had a lot of teammates quit on the first try and DC from PC and console though, so I think everyone should take notes. I go in to every game believing in my teammates, but I have had matches where things go wrong because of these actions. I have only DC'd once after a horrible match against Spirit when I just started playing and it didn't make me feel any better than just... dying on the hook lol! Take it with grace and hope for the best next match :)!
-
I think he is super kind and is really good as trapper! Unfortunately, I have had teammates like this and even played against survivors who just abuse certain items and it makes the game so unplayable. Sure, you got me with the flashlight after pallet stunning me, but was it necessary to do it another five times as i break them lol. And don't even get me started on teammates who are off doing wack stuff instead of objectives. Also the killers who will camp important things ( For example: Amanda with traps, Wraith with hooked survivors, etc.) really get on my last nerve because I'm not an amazing player, but there's no skill in camping things and downing me by doing so just seems so dull. Anyways, props to Otz for being a good player, he's well loved by the community and I'm sure this group will experience a killer with no patience for their shenanigans

I think the worst part about it is those players normally get off scot free unless it has been recorded, but even then, if you aren't a streamer, there's a chance nothing will happen anyways. I hope your future matches are better, but with this community, unfortunately nothing is guaranteed.
With crossplay having been added, would you like to play together?
Yeah, I try to get as much documented when I can but the disappointment certainly gets in the way lol. And I'm a baby so I'm scared to share my gamer tag, but I may feel more confident in sharing that info in the future, since I'm getting a headache from all this bs haha. And thank you, I hope your games go great as well :)!
-
It's annoying, but useful. I was so proud of myself when I lasted longer than expected against a rank 2 killer as a rank 7 survivor, and it actually helped me with noticing tactics and such. It's not a massive difference at first glance, but to think that after months of hard work and strategizing I was able to do more than I had thought is soooo rewarding!! Unfortunately, you will have to roll with the punches, but soon enough you'll be able to counter and strategize! Don't give up :)!
-
I think both are difficult to play as, but the number of times I have died in ranked matches from teammates farming and avoiding objectives or provoking the killer is ridiculously high. Those matches just ruin my whole experience. I don't hate the people who do it, I just wish they understood that my rank is not only dependent on how I play, but how they play as well. And then as killer you get some SWF that are super fun and maybe play around a bit, but then there are the ones who just plain bully you with pallet flashlight attacks! I've seen the best and worst of both sides, and I'm still new to the game, but I hope to see better sportsmanship in general. Also, I have had matches where the killer targets me, downs me, has teammates heal me to injured and then down me again, over and over and over... I had to disconnect because nothing was getting done and I legit felt like garbage. I knew that it was probably funny for them, but waiting to join a lobby only to have them do that kind of stuff is really awful.
-
I am 1000000% a meghead in game and irl. Fast, but at what cost?
-
Is the over altruism bad? I always stay behind if someone leaves the gate open to make sure they are safe, but if they havent been hit for awhile i leave before collapse can get me
-
PERKS:
-Whispers are great because you can figure out while in stealth without risking crows giving you away (since walking normally usually sets them off) and you can also stay hidden but still find them. Sorry if this is confusing to read, it's hard to put into words lmao!
-Thrilling tremors is awesome because you just need to down someone and hook them for generators to get blocked, so if they are gen tunneling or their teammates were hidden when they were caught, it forces them to go wait it out
-I'm all ears is great because they will always vault and try to prank you lol. I'm a survivor main and after practicing ghostface I realized vaulting and rush actions are risky because this perk puts the killer one step ahead of you
-BBQ is pretty popular, especially if a lot of the teammates are working on the outskirts of the map and avoiding you! I'm not great with it, but it's super popular on these forums haha!
ADD ON:
-In all honesty, I love every green through purple add on for him, and then the 'ghostface caught on tape is great' is good, too. I find that the 'outdoor security camera' is difficult, since it requires more experience with both the maps and stalking areas to really get it. Also cinch straps are nice, especially since he needs to crouch a lot :)
OFFERINGS:
-Anything to thicken the mist!!! You gotta be a sneaky boy
I really hope this was helpful! I love playing as him between survivor matches just to goof around, but when I need to play seriously for BP, I found these to be the most helpful! Good luck!

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/188795/how-to-use-a-key-and-not-seem-toxic
I actually don’t take in a key with the intention of using it on the hatch (because I usually never find it anyway).
I usually use it as a replacement for bond with either of the tokens or the unique wedding ring.
Finding the hatch isn't my go to either, since I'm more likely to just run into the killer lol. Also, I've only been playing for about 5 months, what is 'bond?' Maybe I should level up the character with said perk and use it instead of taking a key!
-
@dugman said:
Don't worry about it, there's nothing toxic about using keys or moris. The devs have them in the game because they hope that people will use them.
Very true, haha! I guess I'll take everyone's advice so far and just use it fairly. And I agree that it's actually not as terrible to get mori'd or have survivors leave early through hatch. At least not anymore, it was frustrating in the beginning before I even knew how to repair a gen properly lmao :)!
-
@shyguyy said:
Just use the key - it is not toxic?
Is using noed toxic? No
Is using DS toxic? No
The only ######### in this game that is toxic is acting like a dick during the match, or the post game chat. Using something in the game cannot be toxic.
I agree. I have friends who find perks to be toxic and I don't get it, because it's all part of the game to be strategic and use perks to your advantage. It's ok to get upset, too, but to text people about it is so rude to me. I would rather just take the loss and move on, but still wish them a good game. One time I had killer wait for me to open the gate and then down me to use a mori. I wasn't even mad about it, I laughed and went on to the next game lol :)
-
@NoelleMina said:
There’s not much someone can do to not look toxic when they bring a key, as the sight of it in lobby will make them a target for the Killer 80% of the time.
I guess you can wait until the Killer gets a reasonable amount of hooks and/or sacrifices? I’ve seen people do that, or even complete all gens and open the gates, before they open hatch.
In SWF, I usually leave the key in a chest to avoid being a target, as well as to avoid Franklin’s Demise, if the Killer brings it.
But then again, who says the Killer themselves won’t bring a Mori when they see a key in lobby?
This probably isn’t the answer you’re looking for, but it all just depends on the situation.
That's good to know! I just wish it wasn't like this lol. I used it to open the hatch once and I felt so bad about it, but at the end of the day a competitive game is just that-- competitive. I'll take your advice (especially since I prefer more useful items, but before I prestige again I want to use up what I have) and start switching them out after looting chests! Thank you :)
-
I think changing your username should help because I was in a lobby last night and found out the killer was a streamer after I died, but I was just excited to hear their critiques or see if I did something stupid lol. I don’t think I could ever stream snipe because I want everyone to have a good and equal experience, but people will do what they can to win or upset others. I just hope it didn’t effect any of your ranks too much!
-
Ghostface is my favorite. I just love the narcissism in having a separate alias to write about your own crimes and then film it??? And to go by 'Jed Olsen'?? He's ridiculous and I love it.
-
I like to play as equally as possible. I get pissed off, for sure, but that only makes me want to try harder. I have encountered killers that will down me specifically just to have teammates heal me, then down me again, watch them heal, down me, so on and so on until I have to disconnect because it's not fair. Then I have met survivors who go out of their way to provoke the killer which doesn't benefit anyone on the team. I also have had survivors team up and teabag and flashlight me instead of doing objectives. I hate it, but there are toxic people in every game, competitive or not.
