I haven't loaded DbD in about a month. Some things I've noticed after fully dropping DbD and playing other multiplayer games:

    1. The game isn't supposed to piss you off. That's not a feature.
    2. The amount of bugs in DbD are absolutely not normal.
    3. There is absolutely no sense of progression or meaning to the trials as a veteran player.
    4. DbD could really do better in terms of respecting a player's time. I know this is comparing apples and oranges and they're two totally different games in two totally different genres, but FF14 is really good about this. I can get a lot done if I just want to hop on for an hour, or I can spend a few hours doing more difficult stuff. But at no point does the equivalent of bleeding out for 4 minutes, slugging for a 4k, absolute waste of time matchmaking, etc., happen.

#4 is not talked about enough

In addition to having bad matchmaking, there's the time wasted searching for a game (including situations where 1 player leaves in the lobby or even before the match begins), randomly getting disconnected from my match (penalty sometimes) and then ultimately those instances where you do get bled out. I can play several matches of Apex in 1 hour and at the same time it is possible to play 3 matches of DBD in the same period of time

  • between bad matchmaking and camping/tunneling killer (you or your teammate), each match just gets more and more demoralizing; the matches compound onto each other

I will say tho that less of my frustration w/ solo queue is killer related and it's more teammate related; IE: 3 min into the game and I've done 2 gens while the other 2 not in chase just do side quests or play very scared like

I pretty much load into each game knowing the outcome. Prob why I find myself not playing as much as I use to

  • yeah gl w/ this in solo queue

not gonna look at this in a vacuum where 1 in 50 games you come across a bullying swf doing this

Absolutely better get rid of survivors spawning pallets too if we are getting rid of the other stuff. Having respanable god pallets is not fair in the slightest.

to be fair you need to get the stun otherwise they're useless which imo they are

not as strong as the killer insta deleting a pallet

so you had people on payroll with 100k salaries?

yea. this confirms there were options. probably some better than what I'm thinking right now.

but firing a bunch of people sure cuts the spending fast huh?

sure, there are c-suite execs w/ 100k+ salaries. There are people involved in necessary positions that are not c-suite but are critical to operations who are in the lower 100k range. You want to attract good talent then you be competitive in your offers to these people with years of experience and knowledge. I'm certainly not gonna chastise someone who has spent years proving their worth either.

really hope your idea is not to ask the c-suite to take cuts in the name of cutting costs, commendable but that's a hard sell and a bandaid anyway. If you can run a leaner operation then why wouldn't you? Circumstances change, need for services/goods declined during covid then when it picked up it did so in unprecedented fashion, it was bound to normalize.

you don't seem like you have much real world experience to see past 'fire ppl, bad!'

"compared to a helicarrier, a bus is a small vehicle"… would you look at a bus on the street and call it small now? c'mon.

because companies as a group proved time and time again to not care for any individual or even people. it's all about profit and cutting costs.

and your example didn't really help. because you are making it seem like firing people was the only avaiable option when I doubt that to be true.

no, in addition to letting go of staff where there was bloating, there were other cost cutting actions taken like advising GMs to be more mindful of their staffing levels at stores (why schedule 10 people on a less busy day when most will sit on their phones and there's a manager available who is salaried?); we took a deep look at what services we were paying for and what ultimately could be done away with or sourced elsewhere for less - you'd be surprised how much redundancy might exist in areas that no one is ever taking a look at.

firing people is not the only option but eliminating a 100k salaried individual makes more sense than simply saying let's cut back on some spending guys and see how things shake out…

It's the real world, companies don't care about the people, everyone is expendable from the top to the bottom, this isn't news, but to suggest people are always fired in the name of profits is a silly generalization to make when there are stuff behind the scenes that you'd be none the wiser to. Again, if our lender called the full loan due or a payment of a few hundred thousand to be made - now it's not a few people being let go, now we're probably to go into an even more aggressive cost cutting campaign. Or we scrap our plans to open all of the stores we had in mind this year and all of the jobs that would have came with those stores.

Business is business, your employer does not owe you unconditional employment just cause it's 'not nice' to let you go, circumstances constantly change, adapt or die as a business.

When covid hit and many businesses slowed down, should they have just kept their expenses the same while revenue clearly declined??

    small? we still pretending that?

also, I will never, ever, take the company side on big layoffs. neither should anyone else.

won´t take a neutral stance either. if the company wants any sympathy, they must come clean on their reasons.

probably compared to larger studios, yeah

why are people so quick to be anti company? it's not like these actions are taken out the blue or without good reason

sometimes it's more complex than we think or can see. The small company I work for recently had to let some ppl go; turned out the reason was because there was a covenant in our loan agreement that required our debt service ratio to be under X amount at specified dates. If we failed to be under then it would have resulted in substantial payments being due to the lender which would have had more of a negative impact on the company than the few layoffs that occurred in some of our stores. Very negative feedback from our local managers and privately they suggested it was typical corporate greed (understandable) but it was more complex than simply saving money where possible

I went to the exact part where they say that they're starting with the 5 original killers to keep it accessible but afterwards there's nothing relating they'll add more of them. You're sure you didn't hear it wrong?

well 'starting with' kind of alludes to the fact that more will be available?

  • lost me at 'I love to slug'….

  • solo queue is just awful

between the lack of comms, lack of teammates actually doing gens, lack of teammates generally playing efficiently (not doing totems, chests or spectating chases), your average tunneling killer and your average PR/POP/GE game, solo queue is such a draining experience that GGing. Seeing PR/POP Blight going for the tunnel 2 minutes into the game tells you that the outcome is decided.

it doesn't help that simply loading into a game takes so damn long that you feel like you need to maximize your time

  • why do ppl insist they're always going up against sweat 4 stacks and not just a group of friends enjoying a multiplayer game…..?

  • yes, just what we need are buffs to pop and pain res

it has been so fun these last few months

  • didn't notice you included BGP - what purpose does it serve in this perk combo? you had a flashlight?

I know Ayrun ran it with BU and breakout/sabo build but doesn't seem to be the case here?

  • yes, despite this ppl will make threads as if:

    • they face it every game
    • it's successfully pulled off in every game that they face it in

most of the time it's nothing more than 2 wasted perk slots

  • no

fun to play against. good skill expression. I've been caught at loops I thought I was safe at, frustrating but kudos to those players that really know how to play him

  • thread did not go how OP expected

  • when I take some days off due to life and come back I return to the same monotony of solo q and the cycle repeats itself

  • if my solo teammates seem like they want to save then yes. If it's clear they are not committed then no since it's likely I trade and they leave me behind because ofc solo q

most of the time when I am hooked during EG my solo team leaves even if they all have 0 hooks, - solo queue is solo queue and most have an every man for themself mentality even if a 4 out is beyond do-able

  • please do not give the devs something else to divert their attention to that no one actually cares about

    please!

  • I enjoy playing against Wesker tbh

against a good Wesker, yeah it can be rough. They will use power and get you when you thought you were absolutely safe

overall fun imo, wouldn't nerf him. Oppressive in the right hands but so is any killer plus that's few and far between

  • not everyone brings a map for an advantage

when I solo q I bring a map either cause I'm tired of playing the same garbage swamp/hawkins/midwich or because my favorite realm is autohaven and I just wanna play some matches in those maps

same when I swf with my 2 friends, we mainly bring maps to avoid the maps we just don't enjoy

  • welcome to solo q, take a seat and join us

I wonder if it is a low key attempt to nerf survivors on certain maps? As its likely going to be the more experienced survivors who will loop tightly against walls so you are more likely to get stuck.

I feel that I get stuck on random junk more than ever

came back to this thread cause I just went down at a loop on that yamaoka family estate map because there was a gigantic rock on the loop that I did not expect lmao

Heres a thing: no one cares if you escape with 4%, even if it can happen in like once in 5 matches.

So just give them free chance of escape, maybe nerf it so you can only do it twice or even once, but still free.

And we don't need skill check on second stage, it's not interactive or fun or anything, just scrap it altogether.

People should absolutely be forced to keep playing, because they CHOOSE to join the game at THEIR OWN WILL, when pressing "READY" you are literally READY FOR PLAYING AN ENTIRE GAME, and that's the reason why you will be penalized for Disconnecting too.

On top of this: all the balance problem (even though it's extremely unlikely to happen) can be fixed by buff/nerf of other things, the hook suicide is extremely illogical, unhealthy and stupid mechanics that somehow NEVER got fixed in this game, so even if it needs fair amount of balancing effort it is still worth it.

I would disagree with the forced to keep playing. I suicide on hook as needed, won't deny that.

Why? because the outcome of the match was decided by one or two teammates within the first few minutes. You want me to continue playing w/ 5 gens left, 3 hooks and meanwhile that one guy is crouched in the corner? No thanks.

  • indeed. it's not a secret that a survivor should hug a loop tightly so what purpose do random objects like these serve other than to flat out sandbag? Similarly, there's no reason to place lockers next to a vault either as controller players get screwed. It happens very rarely to me but when it does it sure is annoying…

I think it's the red forest map that one of the tiles has a tree that you have to loop around when looping the tile and 9/10 I just run into it cause it's not at the front of my mind to remember the tree is there. It's just stupid design imo

  • console player so I can't participate in the PTB but the general consensus seems to be that they are now OP.

how does no one in the dev team catch this (and other items like this where it's clear they just won't work out) before it even happens? Or before it's even worked on? No one on the team read this on paper and thought maybe we should not do this, it already reads too strong?

not even a jab at them but I don't understand how the feedback is overwhelmingly one sided yet no one on their end could have foreseen it

  • idk why but this made me think of the villain from the old Scooby Doo Cyber Chase movie

think I'll give it a watch sometime soon

thank you for reminding me of this gem

  • I've felt like I've encountered this but always assumed it was my controller's button giving out

honestly, I have no idea who the real culprit was and still assume it was my remote

    who knows

  • the pp poo poo man

  • good only for the BP so a simple BP multiplier would have sufficed

we did not need that lackluster event, give us a multiplier for a few days next time and work on something else

  • personally, I've found my games where Chucky is the killer to be the most toxic or 'sweaty' ones

obviously, it was more apparent when he first released since people flocked to him but even now, more often than not he is played in a really scummy way - at least in my matches

Well, you said it yourself. When you don't have any chase power and someone good at pathing, looping, etc., just go flying through a window and it would take at least 10 seconds just to catch up with them, not counting the time invested to that point and that by then they will be in yet another loop, it is a problem. Multiply that by 4 and it is a really big problem, as catching anybody would mean wasting a huge amount of time. And yes, gens would get done fast unless you drop chase and try to pressure gens, which would only mean starting the process all over again with another survivor.

There is a reason it is the 3º most used perk by survivors right now, and it's not surprising that the 4 most used perks are literally one of the best chase builds you can have.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/XIGW2DU7KAVQ/image.png

right but how often is anyone facing a 4 man with this perk where they pre-run every time and absolutely juice you? Not that I would even consider this a perk that would be disruptive in a 4man vs perks like OTR, DS, DH, etc..

seems like you're viewing this in a vacuum where everything is hopelessly against you but unfortunately that's not the typical match. The top 4 perks or 'best chase build' means nothing if you actually suck at chase or the game in general. At best you bought yourself an extra few seconds but went down shortly because you have no idea what to do afterwards.

I'm not downplaying it as a strong perk but it certainly isn't defining the match outcome.

  • I mean…you're saying you couldn't injure 1 survivor before gens 'flew'? Not sure what flew means here, 1, 2 or 3 gens?

even if all 4 run lithe and pre-run (big if here, also a big if that all players play optimally), sure it's going to take you longer to catch up but eventually you'll catch up and it's unlikely most average players will walk during chase to get their exhaustion perk back so it's just a regular chase at this point. If you decided to abandon a chase before it started each time then that's just you not playing optimally and hoping you catch someone while they're exhausted before you commit; at some point you have to commit to someone, which, it's probably best at the start of match you just commit to the guy who you know is now exhausted.

lithe isn't going to make you good at pathing, looping, etc so it sounds like there was a bit of being outplayed by the survivors here and outplaying yourself.

  • idk but on the topic of the event: what a boring and completely forgettable event

hope they didn't dedicate too much time and resources to something so silly….

  • what's with this thread being made every time someone finishes a game where they saw this combo

I don't remember the last time I saw a teammate run this in solo q let alone use it successfully. That's my experience but I can't imagine it's this rampant problem in matchmaking...

not to mention seldom does it work out. You have 1 person off a gen all game trying to get a save, hit him once and you just made him waste his all that time for nothing???

I use to run this when it first came out but rarely use it nowadays once I realized how much I was contributing to throwing the game for my team...

  • yeah this pop/pr/grim meta is so ######### boring

not opposed to ppl running what they want,, it's just after the nth game of it in a row it just becomes exhausting and I'm ready to gg next and will all but give up on the match. It just compounds onto the already terrible solo experience

  • @Crowman said:

Endurance doesn't stack. It's disabled after all 5 gens are done. Doing any conspicuous action turns off endurance.

this kind of sums it up

maybe don't go after the survivor who has OTR active? Tell us you tunnel without telling us...

  • I bring a flashlight most of my games as a solo player. I don't think I ever get saves, maybe once every 100 games or something equally insignificant. I'm not going to throw my solo games more than my random team already is by following chases just to possibly get a flashlight save; I bring it for my amusement during chases tbh

equally rarely do I see my random teammates get a save, it usually only occurs when I'm thrown in with a SWF group and they're coordinating those saves at the cost of no gens getting done

  • lmao

it's like they start off with good ideas and then the final product makes u wonder like how did this get the green light to go live? does no one over there really play the game regularly to have any foresight of how some of these ideas will play out in the real game?

  • idk that I find him weak as others mention nor is he strong but I find the play style of zoning someone while your power recharges just to get the down or weakened to be pretty bland. If I'm at an unsafe loop I'm dead cause he'll hold me, if I leave to another loop I'm likely still dead before I make it cause he'll just hit me with generous splash damage....like guy in my last match just stood there and waited til he could use power...

between SM, knight and now this guy this play style is becoming so common and feels awful when you go down cause it's like ######### am I supposed to do at some of these tiles?

  • I think his splash is kinda stupid

him shooting into shack and it downing me outside is kind of ehhh

  • ppl are likely not running into you to grief you, they're just running to the safest loop. I'm sure there are a small subset of players that do it to get the killer off them and I'd bet they're newer players but I highly doubt it's a significant portion of the population

3 subjectively bad games out of how many games??? and how are you determining they're running to you? It's one thing for a chase to be near shack and they inevitably go there and it's another if you're telling me they bolt from across the map to shack and then I'd wonder how you even knew this was the case?

  • no but each game is a reminder that I should....

the amount of times I've been left behind just for all 3 to tbag at gates while the killer is camping hook is astounding amongst other circumstances like all 3 being healed, 1 or more having no hooks, etc

solo queue is such an awful experience but alas we can't always party up w/ friends and must suffer

  • @Reinami said:

Why do people say that pain res grim dms pop is a problem like its also the norm? Running into these full meta builds against killer is about as common as running against full meta against survivors as well. Both are a problem and both should be dealt with simultaneously.

you do not run into a team (let alone an actual SWF) doing '5 gens in 4 minutes' regularly, relax. His example was extreme....

  • hook, teleport back, tunnel, repeat yummy I love it

  • @Royval said:

It’s unhealthy but doing 5 gens in 4 minutes is?

why do ppl say this like it's the norm

if this is happening in your games then all 4 survivors were allowed to work on gens unbothered w/ toolboxes and perks to assist. Maybe don't get ran by 1 survivor for 5 min
