Judge me all you want, but I seriously think FNAF can be huge hit to the game!
Common Compliants / Objections
[FNAF is directed towards younger audiences, which means it wouldn't be a great addition to DBD]
[Answer]: That's because FNAF doesn't have disturbing content (I.E. Extreme Romance, Extreme Violence, Extreme Gore, Severe Cuss Bombs, and so on) to give it a higher mature rating. Moreover, having a lot disturbing content doesn't automatically make something scary — it's all about the execution! The fact that FNAF didn't need to use a lot of disturbing content and still give players a great scare is very exceptional!
[The FNAF community is very cringey and would be a bad influence on our community]
[Answer]: It's easy to see the bad side of a community and slap a negative label! However, if you actually gave the FNAF community a chance, you'll see that it's not as bad as you may think! That's why our community is labeled as the most toxic community in gaming because people seen our bad side and slapped a negative label to us (kinda ironic that people think FNAF will be a bad influence on us)! In reality, I'd say our community is pretty relaxed and supportive to each other! We have our ups and downs, but that's because we want DBD to be enjoyable for everyone, even if it gets a little heated sometimes!
Moreover, you cannot determine how good or bad a FNAF DLC will be in DBD based of its community!
[FNAF isn't scary, the mascots are a hilarious]
[Answer]: Just look at the entire FNAF series instead of picking the one that fits your narrative. There's a few FNAF titles that have pretty well modeled Animatronics that are made to look terrifying!
Perhaps you should give them a look, and that's also the main reason why people want Springtrap as well!
It does have gore and disturbing content though. Spingtrap, the one people ask for is a serial killers rotting body trapped inside an animatronic site. You can see his entrails and other bodily fluids oozing out of the suit.

I find this a completely baffling thing in this community.
It's generally accepted in other videogames that the ability to anticipate your opponent's actions based on the character or faction they're playing, the specific context of the match or game and the specific player being played, is often a sign of a highly capable player who displays deep understanding of the game and it's players, to the point they can operate several plays ahead.
This seems to be true of DBD killers to an extend, because having the First Person FOV they inherently need to make plays predicting survivor's movements and actions.
This happens in some situations for survivors too for instance they have to predict if the Huntress is gonna wind up a hatchet at the pallet or keep walking. This is unreactable, if you wait and don't drop the pallet she keeps walking and smacks you, if you drop the pallet and she readied the hatched she smacks you. However it's a read that the Huntress needs to make as well.
However for the most part I see post after post of people, mainly survivors, but killers as well, wanting killer characters to be more like NPC bosses than actual players with tools to be deceptive and play upon their opponent's expectations.
"Deathslinger's ADS is too quick, Spirit gives you no info, Pyramid Head can m1 after m2 too quick... THERE'S NO COUNTER PLAY".... Never mind the fact that the player on the killer side needs to anticipate what survivors are going to do. Never mind the fact that survivors can anticipate what the killer is going to do and counter accordingly IF they understand how the killer is played and pay attention to stuff other than "boxes+pallet=circle around until press space". If you pay attention and know how the killer's power works, their timings, how far you are from the killer, what loops are safe or not against them, what info the killer needs, how the player is playing them, every single killer in this game has counters that you can use... Yes, some of them deviate from the norm and ask you to use that knowledge to predict your their actions. That's not lack of counter play, it's counter play that's harder to pull off which is exactly what makes stronger killers strong.
This is a bit of a rant, but i just find it hard to understand how this kind of predictive counter play is seen as high skill in other games but in DBD when a killer requires it from survivors, all of a sudden the character is too OP and needs a nerf because NO COUNTER PLAY...
More on the subjective side, I absolutely love going against Spirit, SPECIFICALLY because, if you consistently beat her at loops, you are 100% in this player's head. You know how're they're thinking and you know what they're trying to do and you're just messing with them. Same thing with Deathslinger or Pyramid Head... I can understand people may like a different kind of play style to this, but to actively suggest it's a sign of 0 counter play is a whole thing entirely.
Nailed it. I was just trying to explain this in a PH thread yesterday. You cannot loop him the same way you loop all other killers. You cannot expect to beat every killer the same way every time because every killer playes differently.

Creativity is limited to the subject at hand, and Springtrash is a huge limit smh. With Silent Hill's level of creativity, it works with PH, yet Springtrap has nothing going for him for power potential. Don't even try, please.
I used to despise the franchise as well. I have never played a game. Just going off a few searches Into the story around him I could see that one specific character fitting into DBD. Why do we have to be so close minded about this? I really do not understand it.

First off:
1) All three don't have the same backstory, more so DBD's version of Ghost Face being original.
2) Jason is actually a ripoff of Michael
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/GYVEEZCMAS9G/img-20200327-160515.jpg
Yeah so Jason cannot be in the game. And they are all slashers. Any minor differences can be ignored. I mean that's what you all do comparing him to Freddy.

But here's the thing: HOW will he work? Explain how "vents" exist on a map like Dead Dawg Saloon for example. Traversal or ranged attacks wouldn't be a power for killer that isn't even much of a killer in their current state, let alone even be armed with a weapon of any kind.
Already went over this previously and a team of people could do a better job than I could. It's called creativity, get some. PH didn't have any of the powers he has in DBD he was literally just a monster with a sword. Holy ######### this argument is beyond stupid and it's one of the few people keep regurgitating.

Another thing against spring trap is ironically his backstory ends up being rather redundant due to Freddy Krueger being in the game.
Also from a game play perspective of jump scare killer Freddy also takes up that spot by having no terror radius to those in the dream world and teleporting between generators.
Where would you even fit Spring trap into the game when Freddy has more or less taken Spring trap's story and gameplay ideas already?
And Myers has taken Jason's and Ghost Faces story. Guess Jason can't be added and GF needs to be removed because that's some solid logic right there.

That's a BIG reason for why people don't like it. It's certainly not the only reason. A vast amount of people have a distaste for the series as a whole because of the annoying, offputting fanbase that came with it. Wanting to stay distanced from that is a valid deisre.
On all of these threads I see people repeatedly saying "Oh these people must not know what he looks like if they think he looks goofy!" or "Oh you just obviously don't know the story or you couldn't possibly think it's crap!" Guess what, most of us do know, because pictures and posted over and over, and the story is repeated over and over.
The story is also all over the place and really weak. From what I understand, it's also retconned and changed with basically every entry to the series. We get it, kids died, forced into suits, the guy who did it got jammed in a suit and now he's possessing it. It's not good. It's childish and poorly written.
The games also put horror into a really bad light with weak, cheap, jumpscare-based gameplay. There's no fear, there's just loud noises and sudden appearances. There's a difference between horror and a scare, and a series entirely built around the cheapest form of scares isn't good.
Robbie is an iconic symbol from a video game that's been highly regarded for decades. FNaF is a flash in the pan that most people won't remember the second they aren't dumping out the clone sequels. Youtuber bait is not iconic.
I agree, the FNAF games are jump scare fodder, that's why I dont play them. But to say Springtrap would not fit into the game is just stupid. Putting him into the game would not make DBD a junpscare point and click game. Also nothing in DBD is scary hate to break it to ya. Ghostface is a joke, Demogorgon has kids toys, Freddy and Myers have children's Halloween costumes, most of these older movies have been turned into a mockery over the years, the ONLY licensed killer in the game that has anything remotely scary in its source material is PH and PH on his own is not that scary, and all the original killers are a joke. So if "scary" is the bar set for admission the roster needs to shrink quite a bit.

I think you have a vast underestimation of what is for kids. It's not all smiles and rainbows.
FNaF is about the same level of 'scary' as Goosebumps, and I can still remember them being popular when I was in grade 2, so what, 7 years old? To pretend a series isn't for children because it contains dark themes is just blatantly incorrect.
Lmao, yes goosebumps had tons of gore, pedophililia, miscarriages, mutilation... come to think about it Saw is fairly childish, better get rid of the Pig to stop the kiddies from playing.

So, if you wanna argue that FNaF isn’t childish, then I beg to differ. I can’t see it as something genuinely scary or anything that will leave a lasting impression on the horror genre.
I will reiterate, I had Friday the 13th and Scream merch as a kidm guess GF needs to be removed from the game now? I mean he is for kids and all. Same goes for Demo and Freddy.

FNAF isn’t scary. Some people find it childish. Just respect it instead of refusing to accept differing opinions and acting so rude about it.
Lnfao, I dressed up as Jason for Halloween as a kid. Guess Friday the 13th, is for kids. Same with Myers, Ghost Face, Freddy, ect. And all of those are silly btw. This happens a lot less frequently on the killer's side. And most people who d/c, don't do it on first hook (although it does happen). So you will get the BBQ modifier. And d/cs also affect survivors gains too, as they will probably gain less that match because it will end faster. Same goes for gen rushing.
Yes, I literally said gen rushing makes survivors earn less points. That was my entire point. Thank you for regurgitating it.

People who argue that survivors should not get the same BP as killers because of reasons are so problematic. It literally does not take anything away from killer. It only adds to survivor side of things.
Problem is that survivors would get just as many BP if they actually played the game. Put down the tool box, pick up a med kit. Get chased, cleanse totems. Get saved, get heals. Play some DBD not Gen Repair Simulator.

It's targeted towards children (books found in kids section) so aside from attracting them to the game parents groups would attack DBD for being an adult game adding a dlc from a franchise targeted towards children. Right now, even if kids are playing DBD, BHVR has the excuse it is an adult game and they shouldn't be playing it because even the DLC comes from adult targeted franchises. The moment a license from a franchise targeted to kids is added parents groups would see it as an adult game trying to attract kids and will start demanding the game make changes to be more kid friendly. That's just an unnecessary headache that would take away BHVR focus on more important game issues. This applies to ANY franchise that is targeted towards kids being added to DBD - Scooby, Goosebumps, Coraline, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, etc.
The fans have been obnoxious with daily posts, harassing streamers (both on social media and streams), and constantly trashing iconic horror characters that I've seen people that were OK with it now be completely against it. Some streamers have even banned talk about fnaf from their chats it's been so bad. I saw a streamer talk about blocking fnaf fan Twitter accounts and the fans admit to creating new alt accounts just to continue harassing them about fnaf.
If DBD were to add an animatronic they could come up with better original content than having a licensed fnaf character. Doing an original would give fnaf fans an animatronic killer, remove the issues that come with adding a licensed that come from a franchise targeted towards children, and lessen the amount of the fan base coming over that people would rather not have. It would be sold for iridescent shards instead of auric cells and BHVR would have more freedom with what they could do with lore, cosmetics, design, etc.
Holy ######### dude, if you think FNAF is for children you may want to actually look at the material. It's some morbid #########.

The elephant suit was added because of the community contest where people gave the devs their own cosmetics concepts and the elephant suit was the one that won.
While I think it's fine for people to be completely against Springtrap being added into the game, I have to debate with people who aren't just talking with their emotions and try to give a genuine reason as to why they'd be a bad addition to the game.
You say that while stranger things has comedy, things have to get serious with the appearance of demogorgon. My problem with that is that it implies you wouldn't and that's completely false. I used to love fnaf when it was popular so I'll explain the origins behind springtrap (sorry if you already know but I feel that if you're trying to say Springtrap is a complete joke, then you don't know).
Springtrap was a child murderer who then stuffed the corpses of children in animatronic suits in order to find out how possession works in order to obtain immortality (I think, it's been so long so someone correct me if I'm wrong), however it backfired because he was then hunted down by the spirits of those he killed, resulting in him hiding in a springlock suit (which is basically an animatronic suit that could have all the machinery moved so that someone could use it as a normal costume, however due to a malfunction all the machinery snapped back into place, resulting in him because being pierced in crushed while inside, causing an extremely painful death. Then he possessed the suit while his decaying corpse while still inside yada yada no need to know more. Pretty dark right? So I don't get how people could feel like he's too goofy or that he shouldn't be taken seriously? The only thing I can see having trouble with is how could they make it look natural for a rusty old animatroinic suit to be running at 115% or 110% movement speed.
I have never played the games but I have watch clips from the third game and they show him moving a bit more fluidly than the others since he has an actual human body inside. He also tends to hide from cameras more like a human would, and it even shows him sprinting in the suit. So they could make that work.

My son started playing the games and I was following it with him. I found nothing creepy about it, just silly. Differing opinions based on experiences and likes. No biggie.
Springtrap is apparently only in the 3rd game. And I never said the games were creepy. The story is, much of which is hidden. The games are boring, I wish they would take the story and put it into a better game. But again we are talking about a character for DBD not FNAF as a whole and Springtrap fits like it or not.

The entire FNAF series is very childish and campy. It is meant more as a niche concept, not really horror. That is what I hear the most from those who don't like it, and I personally agree with it. I'm not a fan, but I understand why some like it. Again, not trying to insult those who like it, it is just a niche thing is all.
As far as DbD being scary, it loses the fear factor pretty early, but that is more due to the gameplay than anything else.
People who never bothered to learn anything about the games say that. I looked into the story and that ######### is morbid. Springtraps design is also fairly creepy.

Stranger Things is very old-school. I think it is mostly done well. It is solid in my opinion. A tad bit of comedy, but the monsters are no joke. There is nothing to joke about when it comes to the Demogorgon and how it is portrayed in the franchise. If you see that thing, it is all business.
Please don't misunderstand me on the horror genre. I don't think many old school horror fans shun the "new stuff" simply because it is new. Plenty of the old stuff went to the doghouse years ago and there is lots of good stuff being put out. Freddy and Jason went into the joke realm decades ago, but the original movies were great for their time. There are lots of new things out there that are good. I'm not even saying that FNAF is bad, it is just not something I think many of us find as horror. Entertaining, sure, but horror...not really.
As for the comment someone made about the "elephant suit" on the clown, well, that is what it is. The Clown's original concept was pretty old school concept of a killer clown. The elephant suit, I'm not sure where that even came from, but it is now just a joke.
Many of the killers in DbD are fantastic in their lore/concept. Billy, Trapper, Nurse, Doc, Huntress, and even Deathslinger are characters you don't want to run into in the dark of night or the remote wilderness. Legion....I'll thank them for the knife and scare them off with harsh words. lol Hit or miss...it is what it is.
You still did not say why FNAF should not be added.
Not scary enough? Don't fool yourself nothing in DBD is remotely scary.
The games are bad?
Sure, I dont like the games either. But that does not make them bad or not fitting for DBD.
It seems like there is some bias behind this notion because I have yet to see any type of legitimate reason.

Though you are partially right, you go wrong when you say that they don't have experience with FNAF characters. The reality is, we find them to be comically bad, not horror. It is sort of the Chucky concept. Those movies are more comedy than horror. I'd hate to see a stupid doll that I could punt through the uprights as a killer in this game. Most of us want a real horror character. It's why Legion is mocked so badly. Legion is a group of angsty teens with a knife. Jeff could probably beat the crap out of all three, or make them look for a safe space by saying something offensive.
FNAF is entertaining, to a point, but not horror to many of the old-school horror fans. If they introduced Springtrap to the game, he would likely be a low selling chapter. Honestly, I'd have zero interest unless his perks were great, then I might go for the perks and sit him on the shelf.
Many of us want a true horror feel to the game. That is why you see those who ask for a Salem-witch character or something truly dark and supernatural.
As for "old guys", not sure 45 is old yet, but most of us have been involved in the horror genre for decades and know what we want/like.
Caveat: I don't pretend to speak for every Gen-X'er out there on the horror genre, just the ones I've known for decades who love the genre.
Also you talk about old horror. So what are your thoughts on Stranger Things? A Horror lite show that keeps it PG.

Yet you see so many people wanting Jason. I grew up with the Friday The 13th movies but that ######### is comical now and not scary in the slightest. I looked into the FNAF game lore, I cant be bothered to play a jump scare fest. And the story itself is fairly interesting and Springtrap as a character fits in DBD. Personally I couldn't give a ######### if he gets added but I fail to understand the blind hatred people have for it.

I already told you twice. I'm not going to repeat myself. And just FYI, people like you are the reason these threads get so much hate. Just let people like/hate whatever they want to like/hate.
You never said ######### moron. You just said he looks like ######### yet to seem to not be able to explain what he looks like. Typical. Also I'm not a fan of the games, I literally had to do a little research for this thread (imagine that) before spouting some ignorant #########. I reccomend you do the same.

Technically, Bubba was only a paragraph, not a full chapter.
Also, Freddy is the perfect example of why people shouldn't be so quick to wish for licensed characters.
We've had two different versions of Freddy and they are both are both absolutely rancid. He just doesn't fit into the game.
Neither does this goofy-ass robot.
Explain how he is "goofy". An elephant suit cosmetic is goofy so why are you not crying about that?

I know. How else I could say he looks like #########? And if something looks like ######### to me, I think it is enough of reason not wanting it in DBD.
Lmao, so what does he look like?

Springtrap looks like #########, I don't want it. KTHXBYE
What a compelling argument. Do you even know what he looks like?

Thats still three licensed killers in a row. And almost all of the complaints I have seen about freddy has been how powerful he is, thats a sign hes not properly balanced, not that he doesn't fit. And funnily enough, despite all the counter arguments raised against it, you still claim sprintrap wouldn't fit, and is "goofy". So tell me, how is is a torn up robot with the decaying corpse of a child murderer in it "goofy?"
So much blind ignorant hate for something they never bothered to research.

Lmfao. Most posts I see are from people complaining about the possible addition of FNAF or people asking what the hate is about. If you are tired of hearing about it stop complaining and it goes away.

Sounds awful, no thanks.
Like I said it was off the top of my head. There are plenty of things a team of people could come up with. But I'm sure nothing would make you happy anyways, your mind is already made up.

I’m 23 and I am against Fnaf joining, wouldn’t fit. If they do join, well maybe till later because there are way more important licenses to add before fnaf
Explain how it wouldnt fit?

The fandom is the zoomer version of bronies, inserting themselves into every little thing and trying to be funny with LOLRANDOMXD mashup memes
The characters themselves have an aesthetic that horribly clashes with the drab, depressing tone of DBD and its current roster
Lmfao, a zombified serial killer trapped in a decrepit automotron suit oozing with bodily fluids and human entrails. Yep not dark and drab enough.

People keep suggesting this but they never explain what the power would be.
It's not enough to just say "I want X character". If the character is not compatible with the existing mechanics, I definitely don't want it. FNAF is so different to DBD that I don't see how it could work.
Also, FNAF sucks. There are plenty of more suitable licenses for BHVR to pursue.
Lmfao, "I think it sucks" is not an good reason.
Killer: Springtrap
Ability: unseen / unheard
when not in sight of survivors Springtrap has no terror radius. Simply having him in a survivors line of sight will give him a massive terror radius.
Passive: Where you belong
5 automaton suits are scattered through the stage and act as hooks/ PH cages. Missing too many skill checks on stage 2 or entering stage 3 the spring traps fail and kill the survivor.
That was literally off the top of my head. Imagine what a team could do.
As for him not fitting into DBD, he is a zombified serial killer tapped in a decrepit spring lock suit with organs and bodily fluids visible.
I'm not a fan of the games, I just looked up who Springtrap was and a synopses of the games. I'm all on board, it sounds cool. It seems like alot of blind hatred from those who are opposed.

Lmfao, in another thread calling for PH nerfs I was being facetious and used Pig as an example of who survivors would want nerfed next. The trend is becoming too predictable.

The key word is on average. You don't necessarily get the opportunity to do all these things every match (e.g. the killer didn't manage to get many hooks; you got tunnelled all game and didn't get objective points and so on). That said I agree that if it was a fairly balanced match up where the killer got at least 9-10 hooks, you should easily get 24k points even if you don't escape.
Same with the killer, sometimes survivors straight up DC or you get a SWF who gen rushes and ends the game in less than 5 min.
