But this is different. The sale happened within a few days. They will never have a sale this quickly again.
In the article posted on their website on the 21st they said the outfits would be going on sale today, it's not like it was snuck in.
-
If they refund people for this it'll set precedent for people to start demanding refunds on dlc/cosmetics they buy at release that go on sale later.

For those of us who purchased the now discounted costumes prior to this change, how will we be refunded the difference in our shards, so we can get an additional costume no that the price is reduced? Overall, like this change to better align with the past events we've all loved - thank you bE.
I doubt they'll refund people that bought it before it was discounted. If they do people will start demanding refunds when DLC/cosmetics they bought at release goes on sale at later date.

Even then I dont know if that would be enough... So many killers camp event gens in spite. All hooks and gens should be event ones and by bringing the offering you get more for it.
That is true and that is way better alternative, I like it. If all hooks were Halloween themed could also remove the inability to sabotage them. I get why they made it so survivors can't sabotage them but it's pretty lame when killers can damage/camp the gens.
-
It's a start but I wouldn't say they saved the event with this. I can log in, grab the shards/BP, and then go play a game that has an actual Halloween event.

Still doesnt make up for this disaster. I mean, the Pustula Petal offerings dont even give more bloodpoints than they cost. Theyre pointless...
Should make event gens/hooks atleast give you 3k BP so you can earn back the offering, have it stack for each additional offering played.

Optimization of console. It's an old complaint, there's multiple posts with pages of players listing all the triggers that cause frame drops. The "graphic update will fix it" obviously is not true, especially for ps4 players. Should not expect players to buy next gen right away to fix the issues, and again based on what happened with PS4 I have less faith it will actually be better. There needs to be more attention given to console instead of hoping graphic update/next gen will be the fix. I'm sure plenty of current gen console players would be willing to test the game on ptb type setting, especially if it could help with the many issues console has because obviously their current methods are not working.
Game health/bug fixes. The bugs in the game just keep increasing. The "we can do both" isn't working. Spend a chapter on fixing issues in the game instead of bringing more in with new DLC.
Accessibility options. This game has too much that relies on colors to not have options for those that are colorblind. Possibility of options giving those that are not colorblind an advantage is just a lazy excuse.
Rift: 1. Empty spots on free track need to be filled because it looks like crap. Only 20 out of 70 tiers has something. Could be something as small as BP or shards. 2. Stop removing rift fragments from challenges in tomes. Tome 3 had enough rift fragments to complete the rift without feeling too grindy. Tome 4 removed 6 tiers worth of fragments and that made the rift feel wicked grindy. Tome 5 has even less fragments to make it even more grindy. According to the stats about 16% of players completed rifts in the first year - how few should be completing rifts if they're making it more grindy with only 16% completing the rifts? 3. Stop tying events to the rift, especially the paid portion. It just takes away from the event.
Make events worthwhile. Obviously current Halloween event is crap between a code that leaves people out and heavily biased towards pc, lack of event items/addons/offerings showing up in bloodwebs, event offering costing more BP to play than you earn using it, evebt rift challenges you can do at Thanksgiving if you really want to do not really special to Halloween, event cosmetics you either have to buy in store or pay to grind in the rift. Aside from the cake bug and crowns being biased towards killers the 4 year anniversary was a good event, it felt special. Halloween should be DBD time to shine but they dropped the ball and non-horror games are the go to. They have said they'll be making changes but I don't have high hopes.
Stop with limited codes. Console complained in August, DBD acknowledged but then did it again but worse because it's tied to limited event and they have fog whisperers having to deal with the flack. Give fog whisperers invent type codes for BP or shards where everyone can claim but only during the fog whisperers stream. Gets people to the stream and is fair for all platforms.

Here’s a question that is asked by like 50% of your Comunity that you all refuse to answer and actively shut down threads about it: when will the promised console optimization be done.?
it’s been near 2 years. How about answer that
I wish they'd give a real answer to console optimization. Last time of "oh graphic updates will take care of it." PS4 would very much disagree with that.
-
There's so many issues console has that they miss. They should definitely do a ptb version for consoles. I get it's more of a hassle BUT at this point the hassle for ptb to prevent issues probably better than possible loss of players due to unplayable live game.
-
StreamDad_ did console friendly give away last night. Gave out all 50 codes he had (he said 500 redeems) and myself and other console players got it. He said he thought he'd get more and he'd do same thing. He spent hours yesterday JUST doing the codes.
-
In August console players pointed out the limited codes for cosmetics you could buy in store were biased towards PC and DBD acknowledged it. Now they do it again but worse because it's a limited event code.
They should not do limited codes, especially for event items. I (ps4) lucked out with a code last night. I have the DwightCrow and I think it should be a log in reward instead. There's no reason to make it such a hassle to get. It wasn't fun to type in 32 character codes over and over and over on my ps4 instead of actually playing the game. If my friend didn't say the fog whisperer was making it console friendly and multiple console people were able to redeem from him I wouldn't have bothered.
If they want to help fog whisperers give them codes for BP or iridescent shards they can give out during their streams. Have it be like the incent codes - last for 5 minutes but everyone can claim during that 5 minutes.
-
Cote's comment after was left out which I think is very unfortunate. He pointed out that perks should be looked at if they aren't fun to go against even if the stats say the perk is fine. Granted after Cote pointed that out Ethan seemed to double down on it being fine but I do think it is worth mentioning that the game director thinks perks should still be looked at if people are complaining about the fun factor of going against them.
-
I'm on ps4 and I ONLY got a code because a friend told me to turn on StreamDad_ because he only had few hundred viewers and was making an effort for console players. He spent hours just giving away the code, said 500 people redeemed the code. It took me an hour watching his stream to get one.
This wasn't fun. I get it's to bring viewers to fog whisperers but you can do that with codes that are unlimited rather than ones where console has to compete against pc.
For DwightCrow I think make it a log in reward for those that haven't received a code.
For Fog Whisperers give them BP codes instead to give out during streams. Make the codes be like the incent codes streamers use - only last for like 5 minutes during the fog whisperer stream but unlimited for how many can claim it. Fog whisperers can give those codes out whenever they want in the stream.
-
StreamDad_ on twitch has spent all night tonight giving away codes trying to help console players get it. He's covering last couple digits and waiting for console players to say they're ready before showing them. Bunch of console players have received the code from him, including myself after an hour worth of codes (he'd already been streaming just codes for couple hours before I joined stream). He mentioned they are restricted in how they can give out the codes - has to be on stream/video and can't be posted in chat (someone suggested putting last two in chat due to video lag and he said he couldn't). He wanted to post on console section of his discord to help those players but wasn't allowed to.
The streamers like Paulie Esther and StreamDad_ are awesome for doing their best to make an unfair code as fair as possible with the restrictions they were given.

He's a good egg. It sounded like they didn't recognize his name on the dev stream, but that had to be a joke or something, right?
This code thing seems weird to me. I get that they want to drive traffic to the streams, and, in order to do that, the code has to be valuable, which means they have to make it so someone can't just post it somewhere, but what was wrong with letting streamers hold a raffle and DM someone? Why did they make it so the viewers have to scramble over each other to try to get a prize?
It was a joke, Cote messes with Paulie on Twitter. 😂

yeah, that's what I found a bit unsettling about that segment:
Cote, in response to Ethan's "people say OoO is OP, but stats tell me otherwise" said "...well, sometimes perks need to be looked at if they are not fun to go against".
And Ethan, totally unreceptive to the comment, shook it off with a "yeah, when I find an OoO tbagging I just leave him, it's not upsetting at all".
Even assuming that he's a good killer and he's facing good swf with OoO (and I'm being extremely lenient here), it still shows a complete lack of empathy.
I still need to find a killer happy (or even unimpressed) when they see an OoO when the game starts.
Yeah, the unreceptiveness of Ethan wasn't great. Why I really appreciated Cote speaking up and saying something. I'm glad Cote will point out that there's more that just escape/sacrifice to consider because escaping/sacrificing doesn't necessarily mean good time. It is worrying though that he even has to point that out.
-
I had that message pop up on ps4 after an update in the summer. Luckily nothing happened but I was so worried.
-
They should make it so if killer/survivor is body blocking a survivor for 10 seconds the survivor can move through them. Killers can atleast hit survivors to get by if they are blocked.
-
They're limited to 10 people per code so invalid is because it was used up before you could enter it. PC are entering the codes in faster than console.
Server error no idea, haven't had that error yet.
-
There's just 0 incentive to play it over other games that have Halloween events going on.
No collecting serum to get free outfits. You either grind a ridiculous amount to get enough iridescent shards or you grind the rift... but the Halloween outfit in the rift is in the pay section so for it to be free you need to grind to level 70 and this tome gives less rift fragments than the last one making it more grindy. Also, outfit in rift gives no reason to play DBD during event - can go play Halloween event in another game and come back to grind the rift after.
Collecting serum also added another mechanic to the game play switching things up for a bit. It was nice change if pace from just gens/totems/chase.
Event items/addons/offerings not showing on bloodwebs. I get maybe 1 item/addon per blood web, have yet to see any offerings. Would think for an event the rate the show up on bloodwebs should increase?
Offerings cost more than the amount of BP earned from completing gens. With the cakes you use a cake and you could get enough BP to go through a couple blood webs. Completing an event gen only gets you 1000 extra BP. Use an offering it adds one extra gen so at most you get 2000 extra BP on a 3000 BP offering. The cakes were 3000 BP and you'd have to have a terrible match to get less than 3000 BP while using the cake.
Edit: encouraging people to not play but instead watch streams in hopes to get a code - one that console players are at a disadvantage to pc in entering.
-
I play on ps4, my frames are dropping the entire match. There's multiple videos on this forum of others experiencing that as well as people without videos detailing the performance issues they are having since the patch. It's so bad that they actually tweeted acknowledging it BECAUSE people were complaining on social media and the forums. You must just be lucky to not experience it.
DCs were bad since crossplay started because they shut off DC penalties around same time due to hackers giving streamers large DC penalties. DCs for some were pretty much every match multiple players. The DCs were preventing players from being able to complete challenges. While they weren't bad for you they were for plenty of people to ruin their experience playing the game. The devs only just recently put the DC penalties back up so hopefully that will help cut down the amount.
People complaining means they still care about the game and want it to be better. People complained about the Halloween event being lackluster because they care and want a horror based game to have a better Halloween event than the non-horror games Halloween events. Now DBD are planning to make adjustments that hopefully give us an actual event. If people just dropped the game the game would die, instead they complain about the faults in hopes changes will be made to keep the game alive.
**edit to add: People complain on DBD FB posts about unrelated issues because on FB that is the best way to get their issues seen. Unless they make a daily "voice your complaints here" post or an official DBD group the comment section on random DBD page posts is where they will go. Not everyone will sign up on the forums, they'll use the platform they are already on.
-
I will hand it to Cote for saying perks should be looked at even if stats say they're fine because stats don't show how someone feels playing against a perk. Just because players don't escape much with it doesn't mean it's not crappy to play against.

I care, and this is something they may not have thought of. That is why it is important to bring it to their attention, rather than accept defeat. The beautiful thing about positive nihilism is, even if we tried and it was a waste, it was better than not trying.
You may care but DBD not so much. They already did codes like this couple months ago on Twitter. Console folks complained about how we had no chance against pc players in entering limited codes like this and they acknowledged that it wasn't good and they'd try new methods. Now they're doing the exact same thing with codes but actually worse because these are limited time charms rather than cosmetics that could be bought in the store, so it shows a lack of care from DBD for console players. Console players are basically ignored or brushed off by DBD when we bring up issues like console performance or the disadvantages console has to pc in gameplay or these codes. We are just given empty promises over and over.

This. Sure it's just a charm but it's the principle. It's yet another thing that makes console players continued to feel ignored/pushed aside.
-
He is awesome for trying to help console players out. If only DBD cared as much about console players as he does.
-
Just another thing to show lack of care for console fan base.
-
Console players will only get the Dwightcrow if they're friends with a fog whisperer or watch one that has like 10 viewers. No way console beats pc with keyboard typing out a code.
-
32 numbers/letters is too long of a code for console players to have any chance of getting it in before someone with a keyboard.
-
Saw a chat where a killer told the survivor he face camped them for "totem rushing" 😂
-
Receive less rift fragments from challenges in this tome so you have to grind even more for the one Halloween skin on this rift.

Do you remember the Roadmap(s) (that don't exist anymore, because the devs been unreliable) where we were supposed to get ONE Console Optimization Patch, it turned into several small patches because they couldn't deliver it in time.
And now it's suddenly turned into the Map Rework project, that they want to optimize consoles.
Yep, it was just empty promises to console players in hopes that console players would just suck it up and keep playing. I'm switching to game with actual Halloween event, wonder how many other ps4 players are doing same since game is running so poorly and there's no Halloween event.
-
This definitely isn't an event. If they consider it to be an event that's just sad.
This tome just looking at level 1 we are getting less fragments than the last tome. Doubt they'll make up for it in the other levels. So the one Halloween outfit in the rift you need to grind more for because less fragments from challenges.
-
It's pretty ridiculous on ps4. What happened to them "taking special care" when it came to graphic update for consoles?
-
I had the game map 5 times in a row as survivir - no offering just bad luck. Played multiple Doctors during it too. I stopped playing for the day after the 5th time.
-
Console killers/survivors already came together on the console optimization posts. 😂

I'm not going to start another thread on the objective failure which is the 2020 Halloween Event.
Instead, I want to ask the community what SHOULD have been done instead.
Hopefully, at the very least, this can act as inspiration (or just lift all the good ideas idc) for next years event.
The following things are things which I think would be good:
1) Earn Halloween skins. This is an obvious one. We should be able to earn one killer and one survivor Halloween themed skin just by playing.
2) Bloodpoints. The points from Pustula Petal offerings are terrible (and i'm burning through them too fast with the number of killer DCs). And the cost to get the petals in no way makes up for the points you get from using it! Maybe a 2x BP event for the week of Halloween? Or just 1.5 for the season (so people can spend some of the holidays with their family)
3) Environment. I miss the Halloween music and themed lobby. This years seems lackluster to say the least... I'd have liked orange fog! An orange moon on each map or just make the moon a pumpkin (it can be seen indoors on The Game so it'd work). Replace trash cans or put a burning corpse in them maybe?
What about you guys? What would you have liked to see or hope to see in the future?
What you said, also increase the rate of event item/addon/offering on blood web. Multiple blood webs I've had 0 event offerings and only 1 event item or addon per blood web.
They could make flowers/hooks do something like increase speeds for certain amount of time when used. Survivors want speed boost for interactions they need to collect serum from flower. Killer wants speed boost they need to hook survivor on special hook. This way there's no collect and quit moment you have what you need from the match.
-
Other non horror based games have actual Halloween events that give more incentive to play than DBD. My bloodwebs have only had 1 add on or item at a time, no event offerings. Just not worth time to play over other games Halloween events.
-
I'm having same problem. I'm getting 1 event item or addon per blood web, no event offerings. They need to fix the rate they pop up in the blood webs.
-
Rift is going to be more grindy than the last. Just checked level 1 of this tome, you get less rift fragments than on level one on last tome. Doubt they're going to make up for it in the next levels.
-
My bloodwebs are giving me one event item/add on at a time. No pustula petal offerings have come up for me to play during the event. Really doesn't feel like an event is happening. Gonna switch to different game for Halloween event, especially since ps4 crappy performance is not helping.
-
I wouldn't get hopes up for next gen being much better. At most I see it probably being nice for first couple months after release but that's it. I won't be getting ps5 for a bit - just closed on house last week so next gen isn't really top priority with all the new house expenses I have right now, especially when my ps4 runs any game aside from DBD just fine.

Early 3D renders of the Claudette outfit actually look really good. The only reason why is because more players are survivor mains and half of those survivor mains are Claudette mains, meaning people will want the outfit and therefore spend money on it.
It's a free cosmetic though, only reason people would buy it is if they missed the rift/didn't get far enough into it.
-
I don't get how Claudette lack of tacky whale tail needed more attention but the Legion cosmetic was good enough.

Trying to farm with survivors on the Switch. They in return bring in Murky Reagents to exploit the fog bug making it near impossible to see anything on any map except Macmillain Estate
Maybe it's a ps4 thing? When I've tried to farm as killer most times the survivors pick up pretty quick if I just stand there slashing or run in a circle or just keep hitting a gen. Either they are game to farm or they bust out gens and leave. 😂

Compared to yesterday the game has been at least playable today. Not good performance by any means but at least you can run now as survivor.
Swamp and new MacMillan are the worst map wise. Tested Plague and Blight in KYF and it was HORRIBLE.
I had 2 matches today as survivor in Hawkins and it was the worst I've seen so far for stutter.

My survivor blood webs have maybe 1 event item/add on per web. Haven't had any event offerings. Plenty of those new blueprint offerings I have no interest in though. 😒

Your getting people who want to farm? With crossplay off?
Yeah, I've had farming killers with crossplay off since I turned off crossplay after the first day. Just yesterday and today I've had way more than normal, I can only think it's because giving up from the bad frames and to get rift challenges done (none require killing survivors).
-
PS4 crossplay off. Most killers seem to just be farming right now to get rift challenges done. Few actually try to kill everyone (usually resort to slugging/camping starting with first down) but most just seem to have given up. Keep having entity take me if the farming killers don't kill me because I feel bad. It's bad as survivor but it has to be miserable as killer. As survivor myself and others in red ranks just keep missing skill checks from the frame drops. Lots of 2nd hook stage deaths thanks to frame drops during struggle.
-
On McLean stream last night he had "performance issues being reported on ps4" on his ticker of known issues. I could've missed it but I didn't see him actually talk about it.
-
I play on ps4 original, crossplay off. I played about a dozen survivor matches today and every single one was pretty painful from all the stuttering. I had several on new maps and they are just as bad as the old maps. Towards end of my session the last few killers just resorted to camping at first hook - guessing the stuttering was getting to them and they just wanted to secure atleast one kill for the match.
