I used to think he was just too sensitive to criticism but after reading this thread I get why he is
-
The “20 second rule” is just to get new killers to realize it’s ok to drop a chase. Most killers start to recognize when they’re in a bad chase and when they’re not and when to drop chase with experience

good point, I'll do brutal instead of nurses (Im already using stbfl)
the only problem is you don’t have a gen stall perk. If you’re losing games too fast I’d probably consider keeping ruin over brutal. It’s not really the best on doc but you don’t have any of the meta gen stall perks.
-
I’d swap nurses for STBFL. Brutal is better than you’re giving it credit since dropping pallets early is a doc counter.
also I think the electrode and discipline addons are his best
-
Nemesis PWYF and you could debate a lot of the two other perks, is quite strong on him. Not top tier but really playable at all ranks and gives you a chance to win any game.
His addons are the same. There’s two that are just obviously the best and no reason to ever run any others besides being out of them.
So I think he’s pretty playable at all levels of skill but it’s really only with one build and one set of addons. That’s probably a good reason for a rework imo
-
I run monitor, ruin, discordance, and spirit fury

"This new chapter will feature a classic license, one that has marked the world of horror since its inception."
I bring this quote up again and again. The 1989 film is based on a 1986 novella by Clive Barker. Maybe to some zoomers out there that was pre-industrial age, but in the grand scheme of horror fiction and even film, that's a very late entry.
So maybe BHVR doesn't know their horror history - or it's a typo because of a language barrier or whatnot, but if this statement is correct - there is virtually no chance of it being Pinhead, Pennywise or Candyman. Xenomroph would be the most plausible but still a big stretch. You have to look back further into licenses that start to fall into public domain. This raises new questions of course but it's something to consider. Frankenstein's Monster in the likeness of Boris Karloff while being a really uninteresting killer, would be the only killer I could think of that would fit the bill of being licensed AND there from the beginning. There are so many possibilities but it has a bigger shot than I'd have ever thought.
They may have been referring to the inception of the film, not the inception of the genre.

So the cenobites are just the supernatural embodiments of S&M?
There's no soul collecting? No chasing after evil sorcerers who thought they could get away with making a deal with the devil?
Hellraiser is just about some nonhuman perverts scaring human perverts?
Well, my interest in a Hellraiser chapter, and in the movies, just died.
why is having a sorcerer a deal breaker lol

As trapper I don’t think it’s very effective to trap the hook for a few reasons. But it’s not camping.

Not so much the bigger streamers. Pubstomping doesn't really mean much, especially because most players with 1k hours or so can do it. You should look at those who perform well in multiple tournaments, if you want to see something that approaches a sense of the 'best'. Sure, tournaments are not really that great in DbD, but they give you a better picture, because it's tryhards facing tryhards. Pubstomping can't capture the same level of competition consistently.
Someone like KnightLight or Jordirex are a couple of examples out of the top of my head, but there are many more. Just check the tournaments and who among those are content creators.

Fungoose dodges though, it's been confirmed even in the stream of someone he SWFs with on a regular basis. And dodging in an already small pond where you're the big fish is not really a great measure of skill. There's a reason why his killer queues are so long compared to the other killer streamers of the area and why he has an allegedly 'anti-sniping' screen.
If you want to learn, by all means he's one to watch, he's really good at explaining. But don't take too much from his whole shtick of '4k'ing 39 out of 40 games with any killer without add-ons'. I used to, until I realized what went on behind the scenes and I also got a better understanding of the game. He's got some self-promotion to do in order to stream for a living, that goes with the territory and it's all good, nothing wrong with that. Just don't take that advertising literally, because it simply doesn't match the reality of rank 1 killer on big servers at hours where the big survivor players are online.
Fungoose also plays off peak hours and a often on a smurf account
-
At rank 7 you’re a couple of games away from being red rank.
-
Could probably drop into the basement on any map also
-
While I don’t agree with everything here I think it makes sense for all characters to have all 4 perk slots unlocked and 1 level of each base perk at level 1 available. You shouldn’t have to grind a few hours at a huge disadvantage in order to have just a basic build.
-
I don’t think that giant TR doc is that great especially without other killer perks. Whispers with static blast is plenty of tracking but may as well run bbq as well for the bp.
I think noed, monitor, sloppy butcher, overcharge are all solid options on doc as well to try out as you see fit
his better builds use other killer perks unfortunately

I usually run corrupt, stbfl, whispers/brutal strength/infectious, and surge/pop.
corrupt and STBFL are really strong on him and I think they’re his best perks. Others you can fill in per your strengths as a player
whispers is good for tracking and to let you know if anyone is watching where you’re trapping. Brutal strength or enduring is also great since you don’t want to respect pallets if people run to loops you haven’t trapped. But if you can win loops you don’t really need it. You want them out of those loops ASAP. Infectious is good for tracking people nearby and letting you know when to slug or not and you’re getting your STBFL stacks.
I think you need one gen slowdown perk also. Pop is great but surge is also great and arguably better at defending a 3 gen. Depends on your play style.

Match Make Rating.
Basically, you have a score, which is determined by how good or how well you do in game. You'll be matched with other people within that score.
This works for something like Chess, but not for a game with as many variables as DBD in my opinion. For example, does a Huntress who's using iridescent hatchets weighted the same as an add-onless Huntress, or a Clown? What about a Huntress who gets Wreckers Yard, a very good map for her, in comparison to getting something like Underground Complex -- a very, very bad map for her?
I see no way to make such a skill based system work, in a game where RNG plays a huge part in the game itself.
Its a mistake to think about each game individually when applying an MMR system. Everyone is subject to the same variables over time and that becomes increasingly more true over a larger sample size of games. Did a skilled survivor get downed and face camped by an iri head huntress while his rank 20 teammates hid in a corner? Who cares because the next 200 games he performed well and those other players didn’t and he gained rank and they didn’t
Players who consistently perform well will gain points more often than those that don’t.
-
It gives you a pretty significant movement speed boost also. It’s not just an insta down
-
It is as survivor. As killer you’ll be playing high rank players regardless

Btw, I didn't answer the OP.
You shouldn't. While he looks cool to play, I imagine that he will ultimately become a meme. Too much effort to try and down survivors, and against good survivors he will be harassed into oblivion.
Everything about him is slow, not just his movement speed. Which, in a game where speed is already an issue, adding a killer that is even slower is ridiculous.
Reload is slow. His reeling in ability is slow...and can be broken...which stuns him. SWF groups are going to have a field day with this guy. His m2 is a skillshot that doesn't even wound them. Going through all the work he has to go through to hit a survivor and reel them in, when he finally hits them it should be an insta-down.
Frankly, I am not spending another cent on this game until they start making some meaningful changes to the major problems, rather than making things worse.
Idk I think he’s going to be a really popular NOED hook camper and people are going to complain about how OP he is
-
I think it’s been consistently worse since the last rank reset. They seem to be taking the lowest ranking survivor as a benchmark and filling it with higher ones. I’ve noticed this when I play survivor also
on the plus side my queue times have been much faster.

I'm perfectly happy with it. As a rank 7 killer, I was facing nothing but top rank 1-2 survivors. When I got booted back down to 13 I'm getting rank 4-8 survivors, which is what I SHOULD be going against in the first place. Not being a punching bag for top ranked survivors with 20 times my hours has made the game far more enjoyable.
Arent those rank 4-8 survivors are the same rank 1-2 survivors you’ve been facing that got bumped back in rank reset? They didn’t keep their rank anymore than you did.
-
28 now. Ive been working on escape 4 trials on the last time and now the first survivor challenge is basically escape 5 trials so I might be stuck on those for a bit lol
-
When survivors are close it seems to work better to tap m1 than to lunge. The aim assist seems to work better. Also sweeping your camera to keep up with movement helps when they’re trying to juke you
-
Rank reset is awful and I don’t understand why they do it at all. Sticking a bunch of red rank survivors into green and marching them with brown and yellow rank killers isn’t any fun when the day before they were getting competitive matches. It takes a week or two for everyone to settle back in.
I mean I get why red ranks think it’s great you get to beat up on worse players and have easy games for a while. That’s all it is.

I live in a smallish town in the backwoods of Oklahoma. Nowhere near big enough to be any sort of city and I pay $80 a month for 150 MB cable internet. In fairness there is 1 other option here but it's ######### AT&T dsl (ewww). No idea how anyone in any major city in the US only has 1 option. Guess it's possible though. I do know that if my internet was so bad that it was crashing my game left and right I'd be hassling the hell out of my ISP till they got it lined out. Online gaming doesn't take insane speeds to work properly.
A lot of cities contract a cable provider as the ISP and negotiate the price with them for exclusive access to the coaxial cable infrastructure. So there would be only one high speed provider for an area. And they actively pursue measures to prevent any competition.
you should look into how cable providers are fighting against google for high speed WiFi for instance

No I'm just saying they should put more thought into the DC penalties, even For Honor did decent with the DC penalties so ik it could be done. Get what I'm saying now?
I still don’t get what you’re saying. Do you want them to make exceptions for people with internet so bad that the game is unplayable? Like you should be allowed to try and play and fail and ruin the game for everyone else in the match as often as you want to and be treated differently? Is that really the point you’re trying to make?
Look I feel bad for you that you’re hurting financially and can’t afford a better internet connection. Internet in the US is expensive and that sucks. But I don’t agree that you should be able to make your financial situation everyone else’s problem
-
Obviously the goal should be to try and get all players on both sides to play every match to completion. It’s not a magic bullet but most problems aren’t solved that way.

Ah, yes, it is my fault that as I'm hauling my ass across the map to the furthest gen that it gets popped before I even get there.
You've obviously never played killer at red ranks, don't even try to defend yourself lmfao
Survivors spawn next to gens at all ranks. I can finish the gen I jump on at the start of the match like 7/10 times before the killer finds me, and if he finds me someone else’s gen will pop instead. It’s just how the games go.
-
I have a more difficult time pipping as killer. Plus a lot of killers give hatch or the gates if people dc or just if you survive long enough. Survivors don’t throw themselves on hooks for you lol

That only happens if you are bad at downing survivors or if you don't run corrupt. I do both and more often than not I get two hooks before a gen gets done
A good killer shouldn’t rely on ruin but should rely on corrupt?
-
I run STBFL, M&A, Surge, and discordance on doc. I think discordance is strong on him since you can frequently catch at least 2 in static blast, often right at the start of the match, in addition to the info it provides.
-
I think PWYF and beast marks and a charge time add on are pretty necessary to make him feel playable. Nemesis helps manage PWYF stacks and is really strong on him also. I think a STBFL build where you chainsaw the obsession is also underrated but not as strong
If you’re new to the game or learning bubba his chainsaw is going to lose you a lot more chases than it wins until you learn when to start to rev, when to try or when to take the m1. Especially when you’re judging window vaults. People will also try and run you around tight circles on objects to try and get you to bump into them. extra speed really helps with all those situations
oh but he’s not that good end of the day
-
these are pretty cool ideas
-
I think you’re off base on there being too many variables to find a meaningful way to measure relative player skill. The variables are present for all players and games are short and frequent, which works well for filtering out these “bad luck” RNG scenarios to a point where players that find themselves in them more frequently than others are simply making bad decisions.

@Astrian said:
This is a difficult task in a game like Dead by Daylight, where both sides have different objectives and cannot be directly compared to one another.
This is a game dictated by RNG. This is just straight up fact that the game is not balanced. Only a braindead moron would think that this game is anywhere close to balanced, the thing is, we put up with it anyway because that's how the game should be.
Why oh why then do you devs think it's a good idea to implement a matchmaking system based on SKILL in a game where skill can be completely overshadowed by RNG.
Your skill rating will increase when you do well and decrease when you do poorly.
How? How can you possibly measure this.
Sometimes you get bad teammates
Sometimes you get a killer running insane addons, moris, etc.
Sometimes you get a bad map for killer
Sometimes you get a bad map for survivor
Sometimes the killer just decides to be a douche and tunnel the first guy down and murder them. Does that mean that survivor is bad? Of course not, it's out of their control!
And the list goes on
There are so many uncontrollable variables that happen in a game of Dead by Daylight, why the hell is a matchmaking system based on skill. Even worse still is that it's hidden! So we don't even know if the system is working or it's broken!
I sincerely hope the devs come out with some god tier matchmaking system when this comes out because just on paper this seems like easily the dumbest patch in Dead by Daylight history
I think what you’re overlooking is that these variables aren’t really variables since everyone is subject to them, especially over a large volume of games. More skilled players will find ways to win more games than less skilled players under the same conditions.

I have enjoyed my killer run and plan on keeping at it. It’s a nice change from gens and sneaking around.
How do I get better at attacks? They run and then turn right at me and I miss. I manage to get them eventually but I’m pissed off by that point. Am I missing something?
Get close and then don’t lunge and just tap attack and track with your camera. You’re much more likely to miss if you lunge.
