This game is in fact survivor sided. Before you say i am a killer main, im not. And you won´t find any serious "professional" that would tell you that game is killer sided.
what this game needs is an increased skill cap for killers...things that are hard to learn but you can do to become better at to be able to compete against voicecomms. It does not matter how good you are, the killers skill cap is basically always below the classic SWF efficiency. On the other hand you should be more punished for mistakes as a killer so a bad killer isnt automatically able to beat newbie survivors.
Nerfing/Buffing perks and so on doesnt help at all. Ruin is/was a bandaid for years, and turns this game into a lottery.
-
bloodwarden + noed can be fun...
- Down a survivor (with noed)
- Open a nearby exit gate yourself if they just 99% it.
- Hook the downed survivor.
- Have fun
(Requires good timing and other things, but when it works it can completely turn the game for you)
-
I hope there will be no rework because he is fun to play. All he needs are some simple buffs... not picking up traps, auto trap reset, 1 more trap at the start and he will be very powerful...maybve too powerful already.
He shouldnt be a freddy 2.0 that is extremely good and simple to play aswell. He should still be good for beginners to learn the game without being a anti loop machine for people that are very good with him.
the fun part about him is that you can actually play him very tactical... and that is very rare in this game.
-
the results of the emblem squad from mid 2018 are still valid up to this date... not too much has changed i think. The ruin change is in favor of SWF and they are not affected by ruin+undying when staying on the gen.
They manged to basically make the killer lose 100/100 times, if winning for the killer means ranking up.
4 meta SWF voice comms will roughly depip a killer 9/10 times... a few got a safety pip.
And that is closer to the TRUE balance, and not same "the devs showed me some fancy graph" or "i loot the basement chest" kind of balance.
-
I have a solution for solo q aswell. Play Killer.
Or how the cool kids say nowadays, play "the tunneler".
-
the most obvious is how they react to me as nurse i guess... some make it very hard while others just completely don´t know what to do. When they understand what the killer is going trough they react way better.
I think Legion could be a candidate aswell for survivors not understanding his power. but i barely play him.
-
He is on the weaker side. But when you run his best addons (the one that destroys pallets when vaulting, and the green one for faster frenzy recharge) + perks like Thana, Ruin, Undying... he can become very strong.
But i barely play him myself. I think you need some experience with him to be fully effective.

I am of the opinion that a player should not have to choose between fun or victory. I actually prefer to run meme builds, but I am grinding out survivor perks right now so I have to use a build to get some blood points.
No, in a well designed pvp game you should not have to chose between fun and victory. But this is not a "normal" pvp game.
Its not normal because they dont thread it as a classic pvp game. And its asymetrical .Classic pvp games evolve around directly competing against the other player. If you are quicker, have better aim, or better skill on the keyboard and so on you win against the other player. But here Survivors are competing against "generator time" and not" directly" against you. It´s 1vs4 and the main objective of the survivor side is NOT competing against you but doing a gen somewhere far away from you.
What should have been done in the case of DbD is increasing the skill ceiling of both sides,. Giving both sides more tings to become better at would have solven many things.
It is nothing more than a casual game, almost on the level of a mobile game. And thats something you have to accept.
-
I don´t care too much about perk changes, as long as they don´t touch insidious... Perks are replacable. There will be new stuff you can come up with.
I guess the only real problem this game suffers from in terms of gameplay is the power of voice comm.
On the one hand you have killers asking for more powerful stuff to stand a chance against it. On the other hand you have solos that can´t deal with stronger killers.
As long as this problem never gets adressed there will be an endless circle of changes that never leads anywhere but frustration.
Maybe just stop playing to win, and start to have fun? Use meme builds and stop trying to sweat. This game is not balanced, and never will be.
And if you really want to win at all costs, become a good Nurse and you will be fine.
-
how does the 99% healing help if you dont run that 9% perk? just trolling?
-
facecamping is fun and very rewarding considering that you just keep hooking survivors for free,,,
-
SWF exists, the entire game is survivor sided... but its balanced around the few solo survivors that don´t play the actual solo role.
-
If it works the way i imagine it, its absolutely useless...
-
I forgot to mention... you run insidious to counter BT in cases you need it. But it mainly prevents them from farming points out of you by running into your line of sight. That forces them to the bbq hook trade.
-
BBQ is a crutch perk... To be more fair I usually use Insidious and wait at the hook instead of going for a wallhack crutch perk.
Fairplay comes first, and everybody is happy.
-
trapper is not that weak actually... he is just not consistent at all and very situational... (which makes him the worst killer overall)
There is no other killer as good as trapper when it comes down to shutting down 3 gens, defending both doors etc. He is literally the only one that can insta down people from across the map.
The problem is he has no chasing power, traps are to easy to escape, to few in numbers, to easy to spot and disarm... he is alongside wraith a product of another time...
What he needs is the basekit of having and carrying 3 traps from the start. you sometimes have to go stupidly far away to collect your power...
-
well, in this case i have to get demo and start facecamping and tunnel all of your off the hooks...
"Oh demo he is so nice, he doesnt tunnel me when I tbag him..."
the f is wrong with you? somebody that never tunnels can´t be a good killer player... the mindset of this community is broken af
95% of the survivor players are toxic .. they deserve it.
-
@Altarf said:
Because they love to teabag and rub their victory in the killer's face. Just break some pallets and don't go to the gate, deny them of a new clip to put in their EPIC Noob3 looping the baby killer highlights montage
Thats how it usually goes down...
Killer: Gets 60k+ bp for a 10-11 hook game and had to let somebody escape to kill the rest.
survivor on his final hook: makes noise at the exit gate to celebrate 11k points and a black pip. "Ez baby killer"
and than you get attacked for camping and tunneling all that... off the hooks in the future. ok.
"you are so mean if you tunnel, your ruin our fun"... Well yes, thats exactly what i want. :)
-
Your response is kinda cute...
I know what "camping" is. And im not a brainless AI or bot, I know how to shift the game in my favor. But I know, survivors are always the innocent victims, thats what they are known for. They get abused so much that its unbelievable there are still any left.
i probalby won more games with a facecamping Insidious nurse than you have played games overall. ;)
please stop trying to enlightening me.
-
there are players that enjoy facecamping and you want to ruin their game because you dont like it?
-
people usually overrate Hillbilly... he is way below the average killer now. He is on clown/trapper level somewhere...
-
Nurse and Billy both and both got ruined... just look at the addons, they alone reveal the entire mess...
Billy is now somewhere between clown and trapper... Nobody plays him anymore so people still think he is viable because of his former past. He was once the most popular killer, now you even forget he exists. People that are rating him atm just dont play him enough. They tested him, think "well, it still works" and move on.
-He cant use his chainsaw in chases anymore which makes him a M1 Killer with good mobility for long distances...
-He sucks indoors... He is basically a Trapper without traps indoors.
-Its fun to cruise around on open maps. But his playground, wide open maps make him overheat now. When you found a survivor you cant use your chainsaw anymore with any strategic value. Its not like they dont loop you very tight anyway.
-He had very clean addons... bumper billy, stealth billy, cooldown billy etc...
now we have...
..."when you look into a flashlight for 5 seconds after you got stunned by a pallet, your movement speed sligtly decreases by 5%, while your terroradius increases by 4.2%, in case a generator got repaired in the last 12 seconds"
kind of addons...
Nurse is no fun to play. I think its probably easier for someone that never played her before to find the fun in playing her. When you played her before they messed her up you very likely simply dislike the entire killer now.
-She has an addon that gives her normal movement speed for trading her power completely. Nothing more to add here.
-
which outfit is better for facecamping with trapper.
"baby trapper" or "frosty eyes"?
I think "frosty eyes" triggers people more into hook diving, but im not sure yet...
-
Huntress + Deathslinger are such underrated facecampers... Iri Huntress is even better than bubba!

Given the fact that it would be possible to implement similar mechanics to prevent survivor abuse, I would hope the devs would revisit the issue.
the "issue" is not a problem of the game... its a problem of survivors not accepting how the game works. There is no problem to be solved.
-
I am still waiting for all the "survivor mains" presenting footage of them 12 hooking every game, not camping/tunneling/slugging...
But they don´t, because they can´t. And as long as they don´t show us how its done different, its basically case closed.
-
flashlight users are funny, they usually throw the game for the entire team...
my tip, NEVER dodge flashligt lobbys. When there are 3+ flashligts use lightborn, but pretend that you are trying not to get blindet all the time (face walls, look up etc.) this way they dont fin out n keep trying and trying :)
i just had one as a trapper that was following me for 10 minutes not doing anything else but disarming traps and trying to save others and annoy me. it was hilarious.
-
dont listen to the endgame chat. do whatever you want as long as you have fun, even if its anti-fun for survivors.
the guys that tell you to "geed good" wont tell you that they just lost the last 10 games and dc 2 of them. as soon as they have the chance, they attack the first killer they escaped..
you can win 100 games in a row, the 101 game you lose and people might bully you. so just dont care.
-
use noed, solves endgames quick and efficient

Maybe if the Killer is within a very close proximity of the hook for a set amount of time, the hook timer just stops? And if the survivor is on 2nd hook, they get a hook state back. It would obviously have to be a signifigant amount of time camping, but I think it could work.
i think it could also work that when you chase a survivor off a gen, the gen timer stops so he cant facecamp/tunnel the same gen anymore.
-
when you are actually facecamping you should start at 5 gens... thats the best method. They need the points and pips so they will come and unhook.
-
survivor mains: "genrush doesn´t exist"
also survivor mains: "tunneling exist and is a problem"

Yes, but this game is a complete outliner. This will not be happening on a regular basis, never. And BHVR should also not have to deal with such extreme situations, there are far more important things to do when it comes to balancing IMO.
They can look into the BNP, even tho I would not say it is that strong, given the fact it is an Iridescent Add On (it just is the strongest Add On because Toolboxes got nerfed into the ground), but thats about it.
I dont really care for that type of games, I have over 5k hours and have not seen one game like this. And if that is happening, yeah, whatever. OP also has over 4000 hours and this is the first time happening, so I guess it is rare enough to not really have too much weight.
This game is not even balanced around situations that are way less "extreme". Killers are not balanced around 4 people doing gens and are competent at looping at the same time. Do you think adding 30 seconds or 1 minute (no toolboxes etc.) extra would change the game entirely?
Balancing this game means that both sides have a chance to win at any point. You are saying that extremely good killers shouldnt have a chance against extremely good survivors by the games design. Why not? If the killer is not that good he should lose. If he is better he should win. Where is the problem?
The reality is, bad survivors can still beat a better killer by the games design. Even in solo q you can run chest perks and start joking around and still win.
Omega nurses were also a "rare" occasion and people pretended to see them everywhere. And those ultra nurses lost many times to SWF´s. The result was a hard nerf that never happend to SWF in the same way.
Games like this are daily buisness for killer players, and not the 0,1% rare occasion.

Should we ballance around tournament squads with combined 30.000 hours who bring BNP?
I dont think so, but we should talk about BNP and if they are still op.
You pretend like this can´t be pulled of by casual survivors... I have seen similar with 4 randoms in solo q.
The game needs balaning around everybody tries their best to win. Im ok with the gen speed. Bring back the old Nurse to give the killer the potential to reach the same efficiency as the survivors. It´s not ok that killers are artificially hindered in their skill cap while survivors can pull of something like this.
-
@Mandy said:
I would be interested to see the unedited version though - it skipped from having someone on the hook and someone down in a corner to having the hooked person escape and the downed person at full health.
Even in saying that, these matches where teams just focus the gens and not make save and come prepared with toolboxes like that, are pretty rare - it's not every match, that's not to say it's not going to happen at all, but it's rare. And I've seen matches just as quick where the killer has stomped all 4 survivors, again rare but it happens.
The argument "It doesnt happen every game" is simply not valid (anymore) in terms of the games balance. The game is 5 years old now, and people are complaining about this for 4? years.
When people refuse to genrush you, its their decision to not. Not even the old omega Nurse could have stopped this... not even old moris could have stopped this. When the games balance evolves around people playing bad on purpose, it MUST be in a very bad spot. And the Emblem system can´t hide that fact aswell.
And remember, the game was still too long considering you played 1 of the best killers and there were no potential keys and so on... The Trapper needs 2:30 minutes to collect 5 Traps and start playing.
-
Its called DbD, where the way superior side is claiming to be underpowered.
That was just some form of depip squad you went against.
People will claim you didnt apply "pressure on the gens" or some other bs. Don´t listen to them.
-
Billy + Nurse were my mains... both got ruined and are the definition of anti-fun.
And all that because bhrv didn´t listen to the people that spend xk hours playing these characters, but choose to listen to people that never played these killers or killer at all.
The useless (yes, USELESS) opinion of survivor mains, and basement chest looting casual gamers destroyed the game even further, and kept the balance of this game 1 sided.
Now its to late... You deserve the tunneling noed spirits you face every game. You wanted it that way, so deal with it.

@Pennywise said:
If the killer player had a way to turn off SWF, who in their right mind would turn it on? Not the majority of killers.
What the devs should have done years ago is have built-in voice comms for all survivors and balance around the assumption that all survivor players are communicating. We would have a much more balanced game in the long run.
not necissarily...
People need to understand that it´s not the intention of these devs to ever balance this game. The game got released 5 years ago, who actually beliefs in them trying to balance anything? They want it to be broken as it is.
People that win games feel good and keep spending money. If they lose they stop playing. Its just a milking industry.
-
Just counter bully them:
-facecamping
-Insidious facecamping
-facecamping with chainsaw
-afk strategies where ou refuse to play with them (not interacting with survivors until you have NOED + bloodwarden)
-hardcore tunneling
-farming traps next to bleeding survivors for 4 minutes
-holding iri head next to a hooked survivor
-Bubbas Basement
-farm traps in a corner until they step in it (use Distressing for 200 BP every trap)
-just slug all game and let them bleed out
-afk wraith with noed at the exit gates
-afk insidious + noed nurse behind the exit gates
But most people are like "oh its not fun to play like this..." you are wrong. Its hilarious. Its Fun. And its rewarding.
-
The time spending in trying to use MoM is time you never get back for gens, even when it works.
But you can use Mettle of Man in combination with Breakout and WGLF. When taking protection hits you earn the 25% BP stacks of WGLF and MoM while giving the carried guy actually a good chance of escaping the grasp of the killer.
But, when you fail, the damage is done. And when it works, the damage is also done by not working on gens. There are many builds for both sides you can´t really use because its outside the Meta.
Survivor = directly wasting killers time
Killer = Slowing down as much as you can.
On the survivor side you usally can run different builds because you are only 1/4 of the team. But as a killer its basically impossible to get any build to work when the game only lasts 3-4 minutes. You need those 2-3 perk slots to make the game playable for yourself.
And not everybody has acces to this perk anyway.
-
i cant remember a single game i have played after 2017 without having not exactly the things i wanted to have...
The only grind is to get new teachables so you level up to rank 40 and activate the perks on the characters you want them...
But people that never touch killers, dont use BBQ&WGLF and prestige every character 3x times shouldnt complain about the grind.
Where is the grind in leveling up 1 survivor and 5 killers?
Survivor mains dont even need to level up killers at all.
I dont see any grind. Its not like War thunder where you are locked completely out of content when not grinding. You can play the game properly without grinding... it can be tricky for the killer side since some perks help you to get higher ranks. But thats it.
-
People forget that they actually get items, addons and perks in return.
If you choose to get 1 certain thing out of 80 perks and consider alot of items/addons useless you shouldnt complain about the grind. You just need 1 survivor and the killers you enjoy playing with with all perks basically.
And the grind magically disappears... I mean 99% of the survivors dont even use WGLF... they rather use a 4th meta perk instead of doubling their bloodpoints every game (considering that you dont need perks at all as survivor)... so dont complain.
-
the only problem is that there are not enough facecampers... so survivors mains never learn anything. Most survivors don´t even touch killers and refuse to learn 90% of the games content anyway. And the tiny amount they actually could learn learn they get wrong.
-
noed is nice... it grants me 4k´s even when i facecamp with insidious. BBQ says thanks!
-
Stridor + Bloodhound is very good on Nurse... Propably the most underrated perk combo in the game.
-Makes Lockers unsafe
-Replaces Deerstalker
-Replaces Nurses´s calling
-Makes you not losing chases (especially when you lose LOS)
-Makes chasing in corn fields easy
-Makes you randomly find survivors everywhere, healty ones and especially injured ones.
and alot of other stuff. Thank me later!
-
i dont know if balancing evolves around reworking addons, because his basic power is too weak, and we already have trapper that relys heavily on his addons (he has to bring the same things every time basically) .
He needs more bottles, faster reload, faster movement speed while reloading... than he would be ok i guess. Just having anoter addon doesnt help him if you dont have it.
-
@OniWantsYourMacaroni said:
Nope,it just saves you 6 seconds if you repair with someone else (from 46 seconds down to 40).
It's bad
Thats the time bonus for EVERY gen you do, if you are focused on gens you do multiple gens a match... And thats just for 1 perk slot...
For 1 perk slot out of 16 survivor perk slots thats pretty strong.
-
@Ivaldi said:
No it isn't.. because you shouldn't be teaming up on gens unless its absolutely necessary.
You should always team up on a gen when possible... The time you lose by splitting up and looking for another gen is nothing compared to the debuff. A gen that is fully completed can´t regress anymore. I see so many lost matches because people are splitting up on gens, especially in the end game, resulting in all getting killed. Whenever you see a match getting lost on the last gen, thats the result of constantly splitting up for no reason basically.
-
No its not meta. But its a good perk. The problem is it doesnt stack, so if several people run it and are working on the same gen you dont get extra benefit. But if you are more of a passive player that focuses on generators other than engaging the killer its a very good perk. You not only get the gen done faster, but also the points and pips (emblem).
