There were balance changes for both sides in this most recent update. That said, this really isn't a fair comparison. You're trying to link balance changes for one side to something completely unrelated on the other. You could apply the same logic to absolutely anything to create a constantly moving goalpost that we can never possibly reach. In the end, there's only so much time in between updates for us to make changes. If we waited until we changed everything we could ever want at once, you would be waiting multiple years before seeing any changes at all. That's simply not an option.
If you feel like The Blight is too strong, you can always say that. Give a couple reasons why you think that's the case and it'll stand on its own. But bringing up something completely unrelated doesn't help your case.
It is related though. You always have to take into account the strongest parts of the Killer roster when nerfing baseline survivor. When you dont do that, you end up with whatever the hell this patch is.

Update: Lost 3 games, Swamp,Borgo & Borgo. The rest 9,i think? have been 3Ks or 4Ks.
How the ######### am I able to do this.

Solo definitely needs more buffs and QOL changes, but there’s basically 3 reasons why solo gets stomped:
- They are easier to tunnel because they can’t communicate or coordinate a way to protect a teammate from being tunneled.
- They are more casual players that sometimes don’t bring any item to the match or they use weak perks that provide them basically no value during the match.
- They’re not efficient with they’re time and do things like open chests, hide, or taunt to killers to provoke a chase.
Reasons 2 and 3 cannot be fixed. Solo players will be solo players. But more changes should be implemented to reduce the effectiveness of tunneling against solos.
About your 3rd point,I disagree. With the proper tools and a design that encourages teamwork rather than requiring it,I feel like that problem could be significantly reduced.
Also if we just..removed archives it would probably also help a lot... That whole system needs a redesign. Too many people throw games for them..

You aren’t going against players of that level of either side more than once in a blue moon. Calm down.
That's exactly my point? That's why it meaningless to mention that.

Latest Otz/Hans videos showed that it is balanced about top-tier from both sides. I've subsided all my further (and previous) questions.
I was really afraid that it would go on the path of "Quake Champions"...
Okay "if the survivors are a comp 4 man with the best everything vs top 3 best killers then the game is kinda balanced" is kind of meaningless

That’s why they added HUD info so survivors could see what teammates were doing, riiiiight.
Tell me that Circle is a not balanced around SWF,tell me that the focus on altruistic is balanced on SWF,hell, tell me all the 8 billion team perks they released recently are not focused on SWF. All recent klller meta perks have had their counterplay centered around "have a discord buddy to do a thing for you to counter this".
They added a hud to solo that brought it slightly towards SWF,which is what they balance for. And still, solo is the weakest and the most prominent role, while 4-man SWFs are rare, let alone ones that actually sweat.

I mean, it's pretty simple. Devs goal is between 50 to 60% kill rate.
Right now soloQ brings it up, while SWF down.
If soloQ would have over 40% escape rate, how much do you think would have decent team?
I don't care frankly. 4-man great teams are an edgecase and you rarely run into them. if you think you run into them constantly, you're wrong. Ask any experienced CC in this game besides Tru3.

@SeaFlower said:
Devs balance around both solo and SWF because they have to. If it’s balanced for a competent squad, it’s probably hell for solos. If it’s balanced for your average random solos or friends playing casually, it’s likely too easy for groups playing all out.
They clearly balance around SWF,not solo? Look at the past year of survivor perk design for starters.

my record similar in both 75 to 80 win rate with killer. 35 to 45 win rate with survivor. I'm not a good killer at all! I constantly get spin. Way more skill in survivor yet i can't win nearly as much.
This is kind of how I feel too. I'm still very much terrible at Killer and am substantially more proficient at survivor, yet I lose as survivor consistently when Killer I've been doing pretty well... I even managed a 3K on badham.

You went from killer is too stressful and you have no interested in playing killer. To "Wow, I'm a killer main now!" in two days. What changed your mind?
Playing Killer more. I played some Wraith around Wesker's release and it was very stressfull. I watched some guides and purchased, been playing some blight - he's very fun and even though I mess up a lot,my addons can carry me through that.
Feels very refreshing to not be chained to teammates, although it's a big adjustment,I'm at least winning my games decently often now, which is also nice. Hitting the Iri addon down is very satisfying.
Will report back if my view changes or something, probably
-
Well I'm officially a Blight main now and wow the game is much simpler like this, lmao! I'm going to just keep playing Killer, this is way more fun.
-
Yup. Solo Queue has gotten worse lately. I'm seeing so many streamers start going SWF only.. I think it's either Killer or SWF now,Solo is not a valid gamemode anymore.
-
I've seen them say whenever they touch on map chances a little, map repeat is turned off entirely. Horrible design. It should turn off only for those maps but instead they just turn it off entirely. Hooray to a feature that doesn't work 60% of the time...

BHVR is balancing game around SWF now but they are not getting Solos into SWF level. So yeah solo and casual players will have pain in this game now. This game is not for them anymore. BHVR does not care about them.
My suggestion is just play killer. At least you won't be stomped every match. Most of your matches you will chill and have fun.
Honestly,I'm starting to think about it. Any Killer suggestions out of original chapters? I dont have a lot of money to throw around for licensed ones.

Then I'm sorry.
Are you playing solo or with friends? It is a lot easier to deal with the changes in a group.
I exclusively play in solo and yeah,I'm aware SWF is easier. It's always been the case. I just dont like playing in groups for a variety of reasons. I also dont have a lot of friends that regularly play the game either.
-
I've actually kind of noticed this. Getting injured and using Sprint Burst seems to give pretty much no extra distance compared to the injured speedboost. If the injured speed boost even happens. (They still havent fixed that somehow)

600hrs is not bad.
I almost have 10 times that amount and I also have some problems right now because I need time to adjust to the changes. It was the same a year ago with the big meta shake-up when my build which served me faithfully for 3 years didn't do it anymore. I guess it will change in a few weeks when people have found new ways to deal with it. I already have seen survivors with We'll make it or Resilience & Prove Thyself or Inner Healing and Overzealous. Some rediscovered Iron Will, and some don't care at all. DH has vanished and SB and Lithe are more common I guess. And Adrenaline.
I also have to admit that I only played at late evenings so far in a swf with a newish player after the update which greatly affects the match's outcome.
But I will manage. And you too.
I dunno. I might just look for other games now. Killer doesn't interest me,at all as it's way too stressful and survivor experience has gradually been worse me lately. I mostly posted this to see if people had similar experiences.

"Solo queue players are impacted since they must now devote half of their build to an aura perk and a healing perk to counter these new healing changes. In contrast, SWF players receive all of this for free without having to sacrifice any of their meta perk slots (anti-tunneling perks, exhaustion perks, etc.)"
Yeah, as someone who shied away from meta perks and liked to change my builds often, this is what sucks. I feel like I'm forced to bring a healing perk - in my case, as a solo survivor, We'll Make It, because I can't guarantee the team mates I get will be able to play or do anything but hide if injured. I'll also bring Bond often too, if I find it too difficult to track down a heal for myself. I feel like my build is going to stay pretty consistent now, which is disappointing.
Yeah... For example SWF players can really effectively use CoH and practically be unaffected while are solos are left in the dust again...

Depends on what do you mean by casual? If you're just playing to have fun and not looking for any specific outcome, that should still be possible.
It doesnt matter what your mindset is if you're getting destroyed and dont have a chance to play though... That's my issue. I'm OK with losing. Just sometimes I'd like to have my games be something else besides that

I find it incredibly useful for coordinating saves- in multiple matches it's been the difference between someone getting saved and someone progressing to second stage from first hook. Still, Bond is also good, all you really want is some kind of information.
I feel like I decently enough do this already with the little status icons they added some time ago. Previously I'd probably agree.

The Spirit is heavily reliant on her power because her base movement speed is too slow! The Spirit cannot mind game pallets with a 4.4m/s. So instead make her power recharge quicker. 15 seconds is way too much since survivors can pre drop a pallet and you have no choice but to stop Phasing and break the pallet and then wait another 15 seconds to use her power again.
The kill rate you see on spirit is literally because people only run MDR and Yakuyoke and add ons should not give too much power to the killer.
Please reduce her power recharge time.
Maybe from 15 seconds to 10 seconds?
Spirit is universally agreed as one of the Top 5,if not Top 3 killers in the game. This is a horrible suggestion

I can't say I've noticed my games becoming impossible- and I'd certainly consider myself a casual survivor, insofar as I don't play that role as often as killer and I generally don't care about my winrate or bringing in the most effective possible tools.
I'd definitely recommend experimenting with different builds. Depending on how you approach it, you may even have more fun trying out weird combos than a standard attempt at just winning the match.
(I'd say Kindred is nigh essential for solo survivor, though, probably moreso than Bond. Your mileage may vary, though!)
My mileage with Kindred is that it occasionally feels nice but doesnt do much. I like Bond though,it helps me run into teammates less when I'm chased.

Having 600hrs isint enough time to pin point on what’s really making you have a rough solo queue experience. I can tell you right now that the majority of survivors (85%)especially in high MMR against a smart killer usually don’t do so well because they don’t know how to run jungle gyms, string tiles together properly or run perks that help them waste the killers time effectively in a timely manor. It’s all about split pressure on gens and knowing what you have to work with when the killer starts patrolling and unfortunately most survivors don’t know how to do gens nor loop effectively against a good killer, LIKE NOTHING GETS DONE BUT TIME WASTED IN THE KILLERS FAVOR… simply.
I'm not sure High MMR is a meaningful statement. I often get matched with p100/high playtime players either as my teammates or opponents... As far as I understand from all the knowledble ppl in the community the softcap is too low too matter.
Maybe I'm at it already,I have no idea

I'd say this is an universal experience. A while back I sampled random games from Twitch streamers (solo queue) and their average escape rate was ~30%.
Keep in mind these are 10k hour players, presumably high MMR survivors, so don't expect the situation to be better as a casual player... Some of my Steam friends are streamers so I sometimes watch their gameplay and they have even less than 30%, with regular loss streaks of 5-10 games. Out of 10 games they have 2-3 that feel like a normal game, the rest are straight up stomps, or survivor DCing at 5 gens, or the killer is farming.
Some people on this forum claim their solo queue games are fine, I have no idea how this is possible (probably they play 1 game per month). Literally try it yourself, go click on random survivor Twitch channels and you'll struggle to find one that has even a 50% winrate. Especially look at small channels of casual players with 100-1000 hours. It's almost comical how they keep losing over and over, and even after a 10 loss streak the game still gives them a sweaty Nurse.
That's just sad then...

I agree, although the devs have added the icons to know what our teammates are doing, it seems a lot of changes have been and are still being made with balancing the game around swf, and therefore a lot of (if not all) updates make things worse for solo q while barely impacting swf. I'm not too bad of a survivor but I don't expect to escape even if I play really well anymore. It's more of a "how long can I live" kind of game now.
I've been struggling to use any of the recently changed perks personally.. they all seem designed to be used when you have audio with your team......
