I agree with this change. It’s tough to balance knight cause if he’s played a certain way he’s a 3 Gen monster. But he is actually better than that.

The perks that enabled that play style are gone now. He's no better at it than most of the roster anymore.

His addon that increases the radius of the detection range is busted. I don't know why it's not marked as Iridescent. It seems like the devs forgot how the distance over time calculation works. In the Knight PTB it was even better. It was a level above Iridescent, what is that? Maybe we can call it God Tier.

But that's about it, most other addons are lacking.

Even the one that blocks the exit gate doesn't really work against good survivors because they simply leave. It's also a little bugged, sometimes you catch people with it but they are able to leave anyways. They even have the green aura around them and the guard runs into the wall but can't follow. Meh.

By busted do you mean is the only one that actually does stuff consistently? It's not like "making your guards functional" is an incredibly powerful effect. It should just happen. Just because a killer has one good addon doesn't mean it needs nerfing. See toy sword for more info.

His other addons are less than lacking. They're nonexistent. Undetectable contingent on survivors escaping 3 chases? Addons that rely on your guards hitting people to do stuff?

He's got a purple addon that makes people scream when he summons a particular guard, within a particular radius. Did you know that alchemist ring is also a purple addon? Did you know that dried cherry blossom is also a purple addon? It's laughable.

  • If only he had actual addons.

starstruck does work with nurse. you can m1 to instant down someone with nurse. You just cannot use it with blink attacks. It is bad perk. sure but it does functionally do something. I am talking about a perk that is blank perk that has no functionality for the killer.

Your perk buffs clown directly. Pink bottle has 15% hindered and 2.5 second duration. With add-on's, you improve hindered from 15%->19% and increase duration of 1 second from 2.5 to 3.5 seconds. Assuming 40% is total increase, flask of bleach would be something like ~20.5% hindered and either15% duration would be 3.9 seconds. your creating variation in strength making it more difficult to balance the character if said character became too strong. that is what happen with Billy charge add-on and Huntress wind-up add-on with Tinkerer.

This logic applies for perks as well. Starstruck has current balance of 30 seconds. With the perk, you are increasing the exposed duration to 42 seconds. it is simpler to adjust the individual perks or duration in question then create complication.

you could write specific post for what status effect items you want improvement. maybe they get changed.

Yeah catching a survivor as starstruck nurse does something in the same way that hitting an exposed survivor feel iron maiden does something. Regardless it's a wasted perk slot no matter how hard you torture it into relevancy.

It buffs status effects that are not part of a Killers power. The additional hinder from flask of bleach is an extension of the power and would not be effected. I thought of this. The exposed effect from pinky finger would be increased but only significantly after you've gotten several books.

It doesn't stop gens. It doesn't provide information unless paired with perks or add-ons with an additional investment from the killer. It's an entirely inoffensive perk that would only see use inside weird gimmick builds which I love.

  • Going from playing another first person game to this one feels very disorienting and gives me a headache until I adjust. It's weird because I've never had this problem in any other game.

  • @Mandy said:

I think as Vigil is specifically covering status effects it wouldn't make sense to add in aura reading - which isn't a status effect. Distortion seems to do a good enough job on hiding aura's.

Ah well. Fair enough. It is an AOE after all. Maybe a linger buff.

  • I also would like this. I take screenshots of my weird builds so I don't forget them. There's no way more slots takes up significant space in the database.

Why aren’t people just owning up to why they DC or Hookacide?

I can tell you right now, I will disconnect or death on hook depending on how the killer or team mates are playing.

For example, Wesker running all the aura possible the other day. Would t leave me alone for 4 gens. Hooked once after gen 2 pop, waited around for unhook, chased me until 3 pop, grabbed me on 4 just completing and hooked. Survivor waited for him to clear earlier, straight back grabbed me while being healed… and I disconnected.

The problem is, the unfairness of killer play style. I will disconnect no issue if they play like this even with a multiple day ban.. plenty of other games out there.

I totally agree you shouldn’t disconnect just for one down/hook, that’s churlish… but tunnelling is an unfair trait and agitates, especially after several games.

The other thing that irritates; I did 3 gens on my own in SoloQ… they didn’t do one collectively. They allowed me to get to second stage, from first hook, so I had enough by then. Hook suicide. Helped killer as he/she then killed all 3.

Agree disconnects are annoying, but I’d say ‘usually’ reasoning behind it. I sit that squarely at matchmaking. Most issues are low experience killer and high survivor and vice-versa.

I agree, remove one gen requirement from survivors unless one remaining and bung the killer a hook state. Perhaps guarantee all players no pip loss for the round.

Fix the matching and tunnelling and I’d imagine this wouldn’t be an issue.

You kept Wesker occupied for your team for four gens. That's pretty laudable.

People have to realize that this is a team game. You've got two objectives, collectively. Do gens, occupy the killer. Just because you personally do those things does not mean you in particular get out. You're playing with and for your team. Anytime you can buy them time you're winning.

I also think BP bonuses should reflect this.

  • You cannot force people to play a game they do not want to play.

  • Can you still hold m1 in nightfall? Can you still see connected tiles with Windows?

Please stop trying to gut one of the last scary things this game has left.

The dev will not design this perk because of an old killer perk called tinkerer. This perk right here:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/83VERGYZG9ZF/image.png

The dev do not want perks that affect add-on because it makes them too difficult to balance because you get unpredictable value for what strength for the add-on is. The other problem is that the perk could functionally be useless for some killers because the effect does not work.

Many perks are functionally useless for some but not others. Starstruck does nothing for nurse. Iron maiden is only useful on killers that reload. Insidious is only good on Leatherface. Etc etc.

Finally this perk does not interact with tinkerer(a perk no one runs anyway). This perk only interacts with perks and add-ons that debuff survivors, not buff killers. That's a fun idea though.

  • It's weird how you think I said something that I never did. It's like asking why you like pizza so much after you told me you enjoy swimming.

  • When I first started playing I remember scanning the menus for this option. It's very strange that it doesn't exist.

  • Hacker in every other game? Really?

  • I really do not want to watch the same mori animations over and over and over. Maybe if there were more variety.

In any case if you want to let a survivor go you don't have to give hatch. I always wiggle them off and we split up and search for it. If I find it then I just close it and let them get gate. It's way faster than carrying them all over.

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

His speed out of cloak and his lack of interaction makes him really annoying to go against, ontop of that the latency of the game atm can't keep up with his speed so there is not much you can do in the ways of juking either.

Ontop of that I've even seen casual players on twitch go on 4k streaks with him, he may not be the strongest killer but at the lower end he is definately over performing I'd say.

What does this even mean? Stronger killer at the lower end overperforming? Are you saying that B-tier killers that win games need nerfs? Nonsense. You want more strong killers in the game otherwise you're just gonna end up vs more weskers and blights. Killer variety is important and viability is key to that.

Premades can coordinate everything including generators and heals. They finish trial way faster than the average SoloQ team. They make it to endgame significantly more. And then can also coordinate stacking. For example, one will bring dark theory and blood pacts/power of 2.

I'm fine with that because they're dedicating their whole build to run faster. That's not a big deal, it's silly fun. What's not fun is how the perk alone is going to play vs killers with no anti loop. It does nothing vs the best killers in the game and is a huge hindrance to the worst for free.

These days I mostly play killer and incentives are mostly on survivor side (because soloQ still sux hard). Maybe try to play the game during day and not just at evening?

Also - let's just see now. I am still convinced it will have about same usage rate as current DH. No other exhaustion perks is big limitation (and not being able to freely use exhaustion makes it too anti-synergistic to be worth it - same as plaything on legion or deadlock+pain res).

Having a job and responsibilities, I don't just get to play video games whenever I want. Evenings are what I got free. There's decent survivor queues until 8 or so then they drop off. Honestly I prefer survivor by a wide margin. I just rarely get to play it.

I don't understand where people get this no exhaustion nonsense. Run it with balanced landing. Run it with lithe. It pairs with these things, not cancels them out.

  • I don't see how the strength of this perk changes depending upon whether you're grouped with people or not. If I'm a good looper it's going to augment that whether or not I'm on a discord call.

In any case my concern is just how this punishes knight/m1 killers. Guards already don't get consistent hits and I guarantee you'll be seeing 1-2 of these every game. Survivor queues have been getting much longer lately so it's more difficult to just play the other side for someone who just plays whatever the BP bonus is like me.

  • Overperforming? By who's metrics?

  • Reporting people for DCs is the sort of thing that justifies reports doing nothing.

  • You did not make him DC unless you busted into his house and rolled his face across the DC button. He decided to do that. Don't feel bad about it.

You think they at least remove a few hooks since boil over and great wiggle skill checks are pointless now. God when you get a map like dead saloon that has like 7 or more close hooks on the street. But you see nothing makes sense in this game anymore. Cause iron grasp/agitation for idk what reason was not good enough(being sarcastic) Cause I remember a match where trapper carry from shack of cold wind shed(with no basement) all the way to basement of shed with iron grasp+agi lol.

Things like circle=could be countered by sloppy/nurses/shatter hope to say bye to the bone but ofc even when killers have things as survivors do, the survivors still must have their things butchered. Like for hook as if there is not broken killer item putrid oaks. Oh wait mad grit, a perk that stop a wiggling survivors bar pair up with agi to freely knock over other survivors while pausing the carry person

I have never seen a post complaining about the backpack build until now. Weirdest thing I've read all week.

  • Lordy loo can we just get a "I had a bad game" megathread? This isn't even an idea or suggestion.

That's true, I always lobby dodge if someone has a prestige zero survivor because they obviously have barely any good perks and those play a major role in how the game plays out. If I saw a No Mither survivor I would definitely dodge.

This is insanely petty. It's pretty likely that they're just levelling up a new character.

  • Nobody even agrees what tunneling is. According to many people if they get unhooked I'm obligated to ignore them working on a gen or getting healed right in front of me for a few minutes or they go ballistic in the endgame.

In any case anti tunnel perks aren't there to make you invincible, they're there to make it inconvenient for the killer do to so. If they're following you waiting out endurance but get hit by off the record and you make it to a strong structure, that's a very unfavorable chase that's gonna buy your team a lot of time. That's the whole of survivor gameplay: buying time for your team.

I'm sorry that you can't be invincible under hook and slam the Ctrl key while your friend stealths nearby to get the heal after the killer leaves. What a shame.

  • As long as I can opt out, sure.

I thought the rights to Jason & the movies for gaming purposes were still knee-deep in lawsuits? The last other franchise I am recall adding his likeness was the tenth Mortal Kombat.

If not, then heck yeah he should be brought in. Would have to be careful not to borrow too much from his last game for his power possibilities. There's a few very good options for surv choices too.

They're making a prequel in the franchise so I assume the rights are at least partially straightened out.

I mean I'm getting punished as a survivor because other survivors are too good at the game. Killers get pissed and they nerf everything which makes the game way harder for casual players like myself. The game used to be fun but you have to be really good now. Skill levels between survivor and killer aren't always an even match and quite frankly the game is killer sided against 90% of survivors

    Killers nerf everything?

My God..... Am I a dev on this game without even realizing it? I get to make balance decisions???

  • I wish I could get a legion. My games are back to back to back weskers. I'd pay behavior to go against a c-tier killer like legion again.

  • No, complaining about "the community" is never an unpopular stance in any given online game.

In any case your post seems to be about people trying to win..... In an online pvp game. Which is weird. People are always going to try to win in any competitive environment, no matter how relaxed the trappings of the thing. Wishing people would just try to stop winning is just that- wishful thinking.

  • They want to stop "face camping" which is apparently being within 16 meters of a survivor. Removing hook grabs doesn't fully address the issue as Leatherface, huntress and trickster can still sit there and deny unhooks with their power.

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3442973#Comment_3442973

It's not a single perk which achieves "Killer movement speed", it's a combination of them. Sprint burst makes you move at 150 percent on a 40(32 with vigil) second cd and that's the alternative to this. People will stick to their exhaustion. This has another activation, fearmonger among many other perks and addons inflict exhaustion (blood echo as well). If it's such a huuuuge issue as you put it, there is plenty counter play available to you.

Iron will is another perk with this requirement, and no one brings this despite how much value it can have in losing a killer, why? Because exhaustion perks achieve more. It's just a nice alternative to it, nothing more.

You can run it with exhaustion perks. It pairs well with dead hard(greed the pallet an extra time or two then dead hard). It pairs with lithe and balanced as well. Made For This does not preclude exhaustion perks. It compliments and extends them.

Again: I am not talking about a combination of perks. Survivor movespeed perks are as of right now, absolutely fair because they all have actual stuff you have to do to make them work. People don't bring iron will because it's bad. You can still easily be Heard through obstacles with it. Fearmonger is a five second exhaustion effect. It's nothing by itself. No one uses blood echo because it has onerous and inconsistent activation requirements and there's only a couple of killers that can take advantage of it. It has a cool down, for god's sake.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3442966#Comment_3442966

Constantly? No. When it's relevant? Yes, obviously. It doesn't require all that much skill to ask "hey who's going" when someone gets hooked- I'll admit that I don't play in a SWF so there's always a small chance I'm wrong, but I hardly see how it could be possible.

As for your comment about the activity HUD, you're completely right!

....If your teammates are actually doing generators when the hook happens. Or at all. And, it assumes that your teammates are making the same rational decisions as you. Even if everyone's skilled, it's imperfect information. Playing with Kindred and playing without is night and day, specifically for this reason.

In any online game with a team, all you can control are your own actions. You can't make your team come for hooks or do gens. In overwatch I can't make a genji sit still so I can heal him. In Dota I can't force my support to put down useful wards. That's just part of dealing with humans with their own thoughts and agency. If we could make others behave exactly how we wanted the world would not be a very interesting place.

Yeah it's imperfect information and acting on it intelligently is a tiny satisfying moment in the game. If the game automatically vacuumed killers into pallets for you then you'd be robbed of that little happiness. If huntress hatchets automatically veered into survivors when within .5m then her gameplay would less engaging. At a certain point forceful handholding serves to dumb down the game and make it overall less interesting. More bland. For similar reasons I think the lightburn changes were misguided.

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3442955#Comment_3442955

That is how an assymetric game works, it's a very select scenario which requires a specific set up. it's already possible to get to said speeds on survivor side with dark theory and teamwork power of two and blood pact already, and just like made for this they have requirements. Just talking nonsense doesn't change the fact that its not been on live and had time to test the waters yet. PTB its easier to get set up because everyone is fooling around.

I don't understand what the selective setup is. Is bringing the single perk, Made For This a selective setup? The perk itself is my issue not bringing a series of goofy perks that make you run fast. The other ones all have activation requirements that make them fair. Made For This has effectively no requirement just like old dead hard.

  • @MoNosEmpire said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3442183#Comment_3442183

It's not that the killer is doing their job, it's the fact that it is too easy to tunnel right now. The same way dead hard was too easy to use. But now it makes sense why everyone hated dead hard because they wanted to tunnel back then too but that perk stopped them dead in their tracks.

Too easy to tunnel "right now"? How is it different right now than at any other point? Basekit BT has really spoiled folks.

  • If it helps, pips don't matter and only serve to give you bloodpoints, which you're probably swimming in at this point.

  • @jesterkind said:

Half of Kindred should be basekit, pretty unambiguously. The survivor aura half absolutely should be made basekit to better prop up solo players without giving SWF anything extra.

The killer aura half, though, would be too strong as a basekit thing, and honestly kind of unnecessary once the anti-camp change goes through. That part being on the perk is 100% reasonable, I think.

You think swfs constantly know where their teammates are at all times when someone is on the hook? Dunno who you're playing with, but that ain't my group.

Fact is kindred is obsoleted by the activity HUD and a little bit of game sense. Kate got hooked and Jane got off her gen and is not being chased? Very likely going for the unhook. Did Jane start to get chased when she got off the gen? Possible camping killer or just unlucky. Regardless, you go for the unhook. It's a very simple flowchart that it wouldn't hurt people to learn. You can't just hand everything in the game to people; it makes experience less rewarding. No more basekit perks.

  • I think she's pretty good with tampered timer and crate of gears, actually.

But yeah. 28m terror radius. Sounds good.

  • @lifeisstrange said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3442848#Comment_3442848

You know they will complain about everything survivors have even though they have it too or better lol.

The raw numbers on those perks are deceptive because they have more onerous activation requirements than simply "get hit once". Additionally move speed on survivors is more impactful than move speed on killers due to their smaller hitboxes and the fact that there are four of them. If every survivor is using this perk (likely) and they successfully use it to extend chase by say - 10s apiece that's 40 extra seconds to reset or work on an objective. It's oppressive. You have to think about these things in context instead of just saying "number bigger".

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

You have to be running to gain its effect which triggers bloodlust when in a chase and not have exhaustion. The only point it's at 110 is with blood pact (situational) and hope (gates need to be powered).

    Killers have:

-Play with your food up to 15 percent extra MS

-Game Afoot, 5 percent basically a bloodlust for breaking a pallet

    -Devours hook reward movement speed

    -Bloodlust (baseline)

    -Powers.

    -NOED

with PWYF + Game Afoot you can get 20 percent extra speed not including bloodlust if we had to be picky.

You have the tools to counter it if it's a huge issue for you.

This is not really how an asymmetric game works. Those perks have more stringent activation requirements than something that's going to happen regardless in every match(getting injured). Additionally all things being equal, if killers and survivors had the same base movement speed killers would never catch survivors. Survivors have much smaller hotboxes than killers and can hug loops more tightly. The perk is hugely problematic.

Honestly I'd say the perks that cause exhaustion are a better counter than the move speed ones that you never see for a reason. Except those are extremely conditional as well.

To be fair, BHVR seems completely apathetic about the toxicity in the community. It's not remarkable to me that an environment that does not punish toxicity has an above average amount.

They can't do anything about it. The game has an inherent justification for people to be rude to one another: you're a big bad killer out to get me, so if I'm toxic to you then it's justified because you're the bad guy. You can't force empathy on people. It's not like they can send someone around with a hammer and break toxic players' stuff until they play nice.

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 61
