Which really cannot be done without a complete rework that the devs aren't interested in doing because they don't have to. Everyone can also perform well without actually escaping. Even if I don't escape I still do better than a lot of lazy teammates that do so in the end it feels more like a win for me than for them.

Well they have done some in the past. The end game collapse changed the entire end game gameplay. It was simply a timer.

They could just add stuff and not do a complete rework. But yeah it takes extra effort which I doubt they'd do.

I see alot of people begging for change, saying things are stale. It would be nice if the devs stopped adding more survivors and killers to dump points into and instead focus on game changes and perk changes.

Like, pause on content and try out some interesting gameplay additions and perk reworks. But they won't. I fear adding chapters is the only way they can keep getting money needed to keep going idk.

You speak as if survivor is the only side that has gameplay mechanics like that. Killers have all sorts of annoying things to play when they have the chance. Slowdown perks are still pretty good in most cases, I've actually been seeing pentimento alot lately and it's quite annoying once you reach the point of gen/heal slowdown and ultimate weapon seems like the killer equivalent to MFT. Also why can't the killers also not play as sweaty and competitive? I agree that it's bad game design but literally all of y'all can pitch in at making this game more enjoyable and not sweaty like it's a $10k prize at an esports event

I'm speaking in terms of gen rushing. Oh believe me I know killers do it to. Its just unreasonable to think people will go onto matches In an survivor vs killer game and not want to win. Everyone wants to perform well and win.

To survivors it seems they think escapes is a win when in reality it's points at the end game. You'll never be able to convince the entire player base to stop trying so hard. I'm just saying the only logical approach is to change up the tasks. Include things other then "sit on gen". Imo, that's the only real way slow down speeds. But if they do add something for survivor then they have to equally add more for.killer to keep the game balanced.

Is it possible y'all could stop being so competitive? Maybe that would help the toxic feelings you all get from the game.

Thing about this tho, stop being competitive and do what? That's the issue. That's all the survivors have to do aside from totems.

The games design needs a tweak. Either add more objectives or diversions in the match to gain extra bloodpoints.

I don't blame the survivors for wanting to do the gens as fast as they can so much as the design of the game.

The devs give survivors all these boosting tools and perks to use and killers sweat so hard they end up to stressed to enjoy themselves. They either quit, or divert to gross tactics which in turn damper everyone's fun.

    I would pick something like.

Addons: Field recorder and Lavalier Microphone.

    Perks stealth + info.

Sloopy + Nurses calling to see them and jump scare while interrupting a heal.

Tinkerer/Trail of torment and jump to a close locker, if they dont hear your TR may think locker noise its because of field recorer.

Hex: Face the darkness to add a little random extra stress.

    Hope you like it.

Good advice. Thanks yeah I'll give it a shot! For some reason man I'm having a blast playing dredge lately.

  • We need a perk rework sure. I'm also tired of the same. I'd like to see some extra objectives added to freshen stuff up.

  • It feels rushed from the killer perspective. It's a complete crapshoot from the survivor perspective depending on who you get teamed up with.

The game just needs more. That's all. More objectives or another gen but each time something is added a counterbalance is needed so the killer or survivor side isn't to disadvantaged.

This 5 gen 4v1 is stale.

For those who don't know, The King and Paulie Esther hosted an interview with Mathieu Côté recently. The King does this annually to celebrate his birthday -- so a big happy birthday to him and a big thank you to Paulie Esther and Mathieu Côté as well.

I'm a big fan of these style of interviews as they're a great opportunity to get some information from behind the scenes, and they're probably the closest thing we've got to the old developer streams BHVR used to host every week (those of you who've been around for a while will remember them!).

As part of the interview, the topic of getting Jason Vorhees in Dead by Daylight was brought up, and Mathieu Côté had this to say:

"I mean the game [Friday the 13th: The Game] lost the license. This one is a legal quagmire. It's literally a tarpit that you don't want to put your finger in it 'cause you're gonna get sucked in. [...] If we had a good way in, we'd probably take a shot, because it's Jason, right. But so far there's been no opportunities. It's just too complicated and every other week someone comes out of the woodwork and says 'No, no no, it's actually MY license!' and everything goes to hell again."

You can watch The King's video on the topic here.

Personally, I don't find this surprising. As a fan of the F13 franchise, I followed the legal troubles quite closely and even now that it's resolved (sort of), the situation has always been (at least in my opinion) far too delicate for any possible collaboration with DbD.

I've seen a lot of people speculating about what the next Chapter is going to be -- Jason being a popular theory. But this essentially confirms that isn't the case, and we won't be getting a F13 chapter for the forseeable future.

Its what this game needs to boost players tho. Imagine finally getting Jason. All the old f13 players would flood in.

This synergy really needs to be looked at and changed. I've run into a 4 stack with this combo+CoH and a Game offering. I 4k'd, but it took 5ever and sucked to play against. They weren't even doing gens. They were just there to hold the killer hostage

    Yeah. This.

Honestly tho. I play for points. I despise long unnecessary drawn out games bc of unbalanced/synergy builds with swfs.

It's not about getting a 4k, it's about having a good match. Them not doing gens is irrelevant. It's gameplay that keeps the game from progressing.

Matches should flow. If survivors are not doing the gens for a long time, and the killer can't get downs bc of synergy builds it stalls the game to long.

I have limited time per day to play, and my goal is to grind my characters up to all p3 with at least 1 p100 character.

    I need faster matches lol

  • I'm surprised alien didn't bring in alot more players

  • So it's a mix. Good. I thought I was a rare breed playing most of them and swapping around. I felt like most killer players had mains they mostly/only played

It’s not till Oct 18th. I’ve been playing another live service, not horror themed, that has been doing Halloween for the past 2 weeks or so. The fact that we get such a short Halloween event for a horror themed game is pretty sad.

Yeah I agree. Kinda wish they'd go all out during Halloween seeing it's a horror game. Start Oct 1 and just go nuts.

Also blood rush month. Give us 2 weeks of double bloodpoints. Blood rushes are my favorite. 2xp is good but I really love the extra points it helps alot with the grind.

I actually just finished watching this video. I agree with some of them but not all of them.

I agreed with him that Buckle Up is unhealthy when used with FTP, and STBFL being overpowered (though I didn’t agree with how he suggested to nerf STBFL, it wouldn’t be enough of a nerf imo). Forced Hesitation on unhooked survivor is a problem for sure but I don’t have an issue with it otherwise. And Pain Res deactivating when someone dies is actually a good idea tbh - tunneling one person out and then using the remaining tokens to help you win is kinda stupid when it’s meant to reward hooking unique survivors, considering was the justification for buffing it to 25% in the first place. Knock Out is miserable for solo queue so I agree there. And I agree that Ultimate Weapon is too easy to get and lasts too long.

MFT also definitely needs changes and Boil Over is still unfair vs. controller players. I’d personally like to see the 80% increased struggle either reduced significantly or removed entirely and instead just slightly decrease the killer’s movement speed while carrying (not by much, maybe 3-4%) which would affect all killers the same. The hook aura blocking is not very effective in its current state and could be improved a bit.

While I agree with what he said about NOED being uncounterable if the totem is near the hook, his suggestion of making it have 2 totems I think would make it too weak.

Insidious should also just get a total rework, it’s not useful for anything that’s not camping and no one uses it except camping Bubbas.

I disagreed with him that NWO is problematic in a 1v1, you have enough time to trigger it and still escape if you do it quickly enough, and at that point it should be in the killer’s favor anyway, you’ve basically already lost. Coup is also perfectly fine the way it is.

Literally witnessed buckle up/for the people combo last week in a swf squad. Wow. It really is strong. You have to tunnel someone out to survive the match. Otherwise free endurance for all.

When I say the game is killer sided, I mean specifically at average levels of play. Average kill rates are 53% according to nightlight, meaning killers have a 6 percentage point advantage over survivors on average.

That's great, IMO. As a survivor player I'd even prefer slightly more killer buffs to make escapes slightly more difficult - I like playing the underdog role, which solo queue survivor certainly is, and if the devs want to get back to the ~60% kill rate they've previously stated as their ideal, I have no objections. IMO the ideal DBD is one that is slightly-to-moderately killer sided.

I'll admit, at the absolute top level, with players making the fewest mistakes a player can reasonably be expected to make, the game is survivor sided, where most matches where the survivors are truly sweating they'll win, barring some very specific killer- and map-specific circumstances. Unfortunately it'd be impossible to balance the game for that without making the game unacceptably killer-sided in the average (think 90% kill rates or higher), but there's only a couple dozen survivor players capable of that level of play, so in a game with something like 100k daily players it's acceptable to balance primarily for everyone else.

Then I must have played against those couple dozen survivors at 3am last week. Holy crap it went from average games to BAM!!! 4 matches in a row of me getting spanked. And here I was thinking I'm a slightly above average killer after playing for 6 years. I had a hard reality check that morning.

Those are the kind of matches where you step away from the game for a few weeks. Oof.

  • Why don't they post this stuff in the news section?

  • I'm game. I have them both. I'll play with you

Bro threw $100 into the game and didn't even spend it on anything LMAO.

Lmao! Ridiculous right? I'm a hoarder. I do this all the time. I like to accumulate and grow but have a hard time actually spending

  • I never spend those. I got like 12k Auric cells and 50k shards and still never buy anything new other than the alien DLC. Lol

  • Wifi or hardwired in?

  • At first I was worried but I watched some youtubers showing it. It's not that bad. You can still do what you need to near the hook and be fine.

Even if you wanted to tunnel you still can. The only issues I see is multilayered maps and basements where it thinks your camping but really your not.

  • Ah. Was going to play him tonight. Guess I'll wait.

As a member of the generation who has been "Pavlov dog'd" into liking goth girls.....

    I will accept this.

If they have a Scooby Doo crossover we need the Hex Girls

Something about it man. Wouldn't take her home to mom, however I'd brag about her to the boys.

  • I play how I want. In the early days being toxic was a "trend" and players like Ochido started comp vids of 360'ing killers and bullying until they would DC. It was a culture and was popular on YouTube bc it garnished views.

It got better over the years. Back then I feel like people were nastier in game. Survivors feel way more chill now then back then.

I don't get a ton of teabags after every pallet and window like I used to. Back then I used to be way more stressed then now. Teabagging used to drive me crazy especially at the gate.

Not anymore. I laugh now. Or I'll be goofy back to them to show them I down to goof around some. Or teabag back if I'm a killer that can. Bc over time I realized no matter how good or bad the match is once the match is over everyone moves on and forgets and it's not a big deal. Also learned that teabagging isn't always to spite the killer. Sometimes it's a thank you... or it's a hey stay on me I want you to chase more.

I stopped reading into it so much and just have fun and focus on trying to improve or pull off cool plays.

I usually let a survivor leave if I stomp a team. You can kinda gage quickly in a match weather your going to do well or not and in the matches I do really good or survivors mess up and it snow balls fast I pull back and try to allow everyone to get more points including myself.

When I start getting stressed on the matches where I'm losing badly because that particular team is really good I just say to myself this isn't my match and just take.the punches and hope we all have a good time.

In the end man we all love this game and I always try to keep it in my head that if everyone has fun then the game will last longer. So I try to never be toxic on purpose.

However, there's always a bad apple in the bunch that rubs you wrong sometimes.

And for God's sake don't spam in the chat at the end. Makes you look dumb, and once you calm down you feel stupid. Take it from me I learned the hard way over the years. Just gg and bounce.

I know alot of people will pick the typical feng, nea, meg etc. Dare to be different. Im just gonna be honest here and i hope i dont sound too pushy. If i do, I apologize. But i would definitely just read up on basic lore on every survivor on the menu. Thats the best start to connect with your character. At the end of the day, these survivors are just skins with same stats etc. But they just look and sound different so go with anyone of your choosing.

For me, I chose david as my first main because his lore and characteristics is built around team play and confrontational encounters which is my playstyle. Lately ive gone towards gabriel more now because sci fi is my fav genre and more or less looks like me. Overall its your choice.

Dude Gabriel's lore is wild. As much as I didn't care for HuX as a killer I grinded out that lore and it made me appreciate Gabriel's and his playstyle more. I forced myself to play Hux all weekend and I kinda like him now.

Still not that great with him but I see the appeal now. The worst thing about his power is how disoriented It makes you

  • @FFirebrandd said:

It used to be way worse to be honest.

Oh I remember lol. It's definitely better. Cheaper on the web now, and the auto option is a lifesaver.

I always hated that feeling once I capped my points at 1M.. I was like.. great... now it's time to click for 10 minutes straight spending them all.

  • @Nazzzak said:

I changed platforms fully at the start of the year so had alot to get again. I put my bloodpoints into P1ing survivors, starting with my favourite perks, and I used my iri shards to get killer perks from the Shrine of Secrets. This made the most sense to me as I only play a few killers, and not often at that, so I'd prefer to not have to put bloodpoints into the ones I don't use. I still have some perks to go but I have my favourites plus more so it worked out well.

Yeah I feel that. I started this game on ps4 back on 2017 and played console until 2021 and started over on PC. Had to start completely over. Been grinding since.

I almost have them all at p1. My top 3 survivors are Jill, Rebecca, and Meg. I used to main Cheryl on console.

But man, to start over after over 3 years was heartbreaking but once I swapped to PC I never looked back. Soon much better on mouse and keyboard. At least for killer anyway

  • @Vanishlord said:

I struggle with this so much you have to play so much if you're a survivor main it can be hard as you can be face camped out by a Bubba at the moment. Do you have Amazon Prime if you do and you haven't already claim the 400k Bloodpoints every month it makes it a bit easier.

I do have prime. I've linked it to my dbd account and I still forget to do that alot. I've missed a handful of prime cosmetics because I'm a forgetful dude lol 😆

  • Meg. Because Meg is Love. Meg is life. The OG meme character next to Dwight. Although... Mikaela and Kate have the coolest cosmetics imo

  • @Xernoton said:

Gotta be new players, right? Everyone else should know by now that prestige does not equal skill.

I would understand maybe dodging a full P100 squad because not every killer is in the mood dealing with a SWF but then again, if I can beat them with pallet Freddy and a meme build, then even that is no indicator of how difficult the match will be.

I'm not opposed to the idea of hiding prestige though. But if we're gonna go that route, then they should also allow players to keep their prestige hidden after the game.

    This...

P100 to me is nothing more than bragging rights. I've been playing since 2017 still suck ass at effectively looping shack and t walls.

Yes time does mean you get better but it doesn't mean your skill is master class.

  • I understand why survivors hate being face camped. It does essentially prevent them playing the match. Decent teams know how to handle that too tho. Most don't.

However I also understand why killers proxy camp sometimes depending on the situation. Like it's end game and your trying to secure a kill. Or you know survivors are in the area and your near the hook looking for them or waiting for them to show themselves etc. Etc.

Camping is used for tons of reasons. I find a timer to prevent camping to be a very dangerous thing. Killers shouldn't get punished for standing near a hook bc face camping is just 1 of the reasons. Ya know?

  • I like sadoko, Leigon, Billy, and Xeno atm.

Billy is my late night had to much to drink just wanna zoom around the map and go for chainsaws. Leigon, I love his power but he can be incredibly frustrating to play with a group of strong looping survivors.

Every now and then I get in my range killer mood and play huntress and slinger.

  • @Beatricks said:

It's a very annoying challenge, but if you don't mind throwing a match or two, you can get it somewhat easily.

I recommend going to a big open map like McMillan or Azarov although I got it on Badham personally. Bring slowdown to buy you as much time as possible, Corrupt, Deadlock, No Way Out, Merciless Storm/Pain Res. Down a survivor near a gen and hook them, there should be an EMP cache in the vicinity. Put down a couple of pods in different places so that an EMP won't destroy them in a single use. Proxy camp. Pretend that you are going away but be ready to immediately switch to the pods once you are out of sight. Rinse and repeat. You can experiment with Make Your Choice to help you stay close to the hook.

    Good luck!

Thanks. So I basically have to camp hooks near gens to pull this off bc most emp boxes are near gens?

I'll give it a try. Appreciate it
