You forgot "pressing E at the right time"
Can't be that hard if I have to hit through it 2-5 times per match.

Nice try, IHOP.

Oh, god. I think I'd almost prefer being yelled at than hearing someone chew with their mouth open.
It makes me wonder how they are playing the game. Evil Dead is not a game with downtime. Stopping play for even 3 seconds can get you killed. Who has time to shove chips in their mouth?!

Too many players are slaves to the meta, on both sides.
Survivors entirely reliant on Dead Hard and CoH, who can't function without them, and killers entirely reliant on meta slowdown perks and can't function without them. This patch should be a wake up call to all of them.
I agree. I run Circle of Healing. I run it for the same reasons it will be nerfed. And I'm fine with that. Will I stop running it? Yes.
I've survived a lot of nerfs. I used to run Spine Chill. Then it got nerfed, and now I don't. I will find something else. I mean, that is kind of the point of a meta shakeup.

You keep writing lil baits like this in a lot of similar threads. So Ill bite.
It is a bad thing for me. Perhaps not for you, but it is for me. Neither one of us can say it is good or bad factually. There! We found common ground. Enjoy your evening!
There are over 100 perks on EACH SIDE.
Think about that for a second. You get 4 perks OUT OF A HUNDRED you can run every game. If the death of ONE of those is a big deal, it's time to seriously address why it is a big deal and why it's death is probably good for the game.
-
People say things like "This will absolutely kill the perk" like that's a bad thing.
-
Circle of Healing is.... a circle.... that improves healing.
Why does this need a new name?
-
@Carth said:
Remove hook grabs and do what they did to exhaustion add-ons for mangled(remove them).
What do hook grabs have to do with whether or not you are healed?
-
I use slowdown perks because in my opinion there are no good chase perks. Every perk that looks like it might be good in chase either doesn't last long enough, or has a very tiny window to capitalize it on.

1) Not a proven fact, A chase with a DH user could potentially last longer, if that survivor lands their dead hard and can make it to another tile. Alternatively, a survivor who is playing extremely safe may outlast a DH user in chase because they won't greed pallets or windows
2) Good Sprint Burst users can reset their exhaustion mid chase for a similar effect. I will say that using DH is purely in the survivor's control as in the killer cannot force them to press the E key but that also means the survivor has to know when the Killer will swing. It's not like they hit E and then the perk works ONLY when the killer decides to swing.
Sometimes the Killer might hit a survivor before they've even had a chance to press the key to begin with.
That being said, I don't really care that the perk is being nerfed. It's never bothered me since its rework and I never used it because I prefer Sprint Burst so this is just for the sake of discussion. It's not like what annoys you about the perk is going away, they just made it harder for survivors to use it
1.) For its intended purpose, it is a proven fact. What you really mean is that it doesn't do that 100% of the time. Perks need to be looked at when working AS INTENDED, not used wrong. By that logic Dead Hard is bad because some people miss the timing. Which is like saying Huntress hatchets are bad because they can miss. In your example if you take the player that is playing safe and you test him with AND without Dead Hard, his Dead Hard timer will be longer than without it.
2.) The Sprint Burst example, while a hilarious use of whataboutism here, I'll bite on anyway. A 99'd Sprint Burst still doesn't negate a good play. It doesn't literally cancel a hit taken at a pallet. It's a distance extended, not a hit negater.
The worst part of Dead Hard is your first chase taking so long because the Dead Hard negated your down and kept you from pressuring gens, almost promising a 3 gen pop on first chase against good survivors. With an unhook requirement, that is going away.

No fella, you said that "DA MATHS" backs up what you said
But what you said was your subjective opinion and an example of a perk working with no shred of evidence or numbers to back you up.
The only factual thing you said is that Dead Hard can extend chases. That's true, it CAN extend chases. The key word being can aka it can also backfire and not work.
^ Which in my personal experiences is the case, New DH never bothered me.
Chases with a Dead Hard use last longer than ones that don't.
Dead Hard is the only perk in the game that can do so exclusively under Survivor control without a condition outside of your control, like a height to fall from or a window to vault.
These two factors are unhealthy for the game when used in conjunction.

That's not math that's a bunch of words
Your opinion on DH is purely a subjective opinion, which is totally fair you're entitled to it but it's not a fact
Another thing though I could equally create an example where their DH doesn't go off and I win as proof that the perk isn't that good and that people are just bad at the video game.
That's not my viewpoint but it could just as easily be.
Are you suggesting that if you press E when the killer attacks you, and you get a speed boost to get away and create distance, that such a statement is an OPINION?
I am pretty sure those are all facts.

I’d love to see the actual numbers on this. You saying “math” doesn’t add up to evidence. Cuz again, sounds like a skill issue to me. Survivors learning how to use a high risk perk (that’s doesn’t even work every single time it’s used) that killers don’t want or learn how to counter does not make the perk the issue.
Again, I don't care about skill. You talk about skill until you are blue in the face, it's not relevant.
Dead Hard has the power to completely reset a chase AT WILL. No other perk in the game can do that. Not Lithe, not Balanced Landing, nothing. You press E and get to negate every single second of chase time. That's broken. By sheer game design.
I know it is really popular to just yell "SKILL ISSUE!" in place of an actual factual argument, but I'm looking at actual game time. A reset chase wastes, mathematically, an enormous amount of time. A properly executed Dead Hard can ensure a combined double chase time of 90 seconds or more, creating a triple gen pop. Just screaming "SKILL ISSUE!" does not change the fundamental design nature of the perk in question. At all.
And that's when they actually HAVE Dead Hard. That's not counting all the lost seconds of chase time while killers "just wait it out", only to find the Survivor didn't even have the perk. Dead Hard wastes seconds of chase time even when it is not present. If that is not telling of the meta to someone, I don't know what to tell that person they just lack critical thinking skills. Or a calculator. Or both.

Can confirm. Voice comms are pointless in pretty much every game unless you plan to yell at people on call of duty. No one uses them because it’s not worth the headache of yelling at random strangers or getting yelled at. Or listening to someone’s spotify favorites playlisted on static mode.
I tried, I really did. What happened over time was not what I expected. I expected to hear cursing, X-box kids, comments about my mother.
What I got was listening to people chewing chips with their mouth open, hearing every bong rip, and every kid and/or dog in the background making a ruckus.
-
I play Evil Dead: The Game. We have voice comms. And most people never use it. A large number just mute everything and turn it off.
-
We basically have a shooter ruleset:
If it works in one hit, it needs to be clunky and slow and super telegraphed to dodge: Huntress
If it can down you will quickly, it needs to fractions of a health state and take many hits: Trickster
If it can work from far away and the shot is quick, it can't deal damage: Deathslinger.

Says who? You could say that about several perks in this game. Doesn’t change the fact that the first time DH was nerfed, killer mains got what they asked for and then when survivors adapted and learned how to use the scraps that were left, it had to get nerfed again because the issue was never how the perk worked it was the fact that it even existed to begin with and screwed with the killers getting an easy win, and the killer role is clearly favored by devs.
Says who?
MATH.
Chase, chase, chase. Pallet, window, chase. Mind game, HA! Outplayed, M1... aaaand
E.
Get bent, Killer. I win anyways, even though you made the right play. Now all that chase time is fully wasted, I am going to sprint burst away and we get to start this process ALL.... OVER... AGAIN.

You guys said that before dead hard was nerfed last time when it gave a distance boost. It was “all you have to do is press a button it takes no skill!” So what did they do? They made it so that it actually DOES take skill and damn near perfect timing to use accurately. One of the reasons I never used DH myself was because I don’t have the skill to time it right. But other survivors learned how to use the perk and even then it wasn’t guaranteed. Killer lag, latency issues etc and even if you did time it right it still didn’t work. But basically survivors learned how to use the new perk and killers still complained because they didn’t want to learn how to counter it. This dead hard is nowhere near “press a button and negate a chase” it’s high risk, high reward. Killers just don’t want to do what they told survivors to do the last time it was nerfed which was “adapt” and actually learn how to use skill to counter it. DH is perfectly counterable in its current state but when an entire half of the playerbase is too lazy to take the time to do it, then of course it has to go.
Just because a group of people whine and cry the loudest to get what they want doesn’t mean their complaints were valid or necessary. It just means they were the loudest so they got heard more.
I don't care how much skill it takes or who cried louder about what, the CONCEPT of the perk itself is bad game design. Period.

That has nothing to do with anything I said. Also Dead Hard was never that oppressive. If you’re willing to give up 10 top tier killer perks to get rid of one perk that was high risk to use, I’d say that’s a major skill issue for you. IMO anyway
Or maybe, just maybe, the existence of a perk that lets you negate an entire chase by pressing E is bad game design.
-
I'm willing to give up TEN top tier killer perks if it means banishing Dead Hard forever.
-
Accessibility options are a grey area. Not all disabilities can be catered to. No amount of reasonable changes are ever going to let this game be genuinely accessible to someone totally blind, for example.
So far, most of the changes we have seen are harmless. I don't think killer players are out there right now getting some huge advantage over colorblind mode.
This visual terror radius doesn't seem to convey any information we don't already get, just changing the form in which the information is delivered. It takes an auditory input and makes it a visual input.
This shouldn't hurt gameplay at all.

This change will literally give every Killer Bubba's camping power.
If people are injured and someone is on hook, that's literally game over. It's gonna take more than 12 seconds to FIND teammates to heal and another 50 to heal both of those people.
These changes are so awful. Double saves are going to be extremely hard.
I don't understand why, though.
If I am playing Basement Bubba, and you come running down the stairs to save..... your health status is irrelevant. I'm going to rev the weedwhacker and take you both out.

Are people meant to be able to be saved off of hook
Depends on many, many, factors. Sometimes the killer has a power that makes that hard. Sometimes you are hooked a million miles from an open gate. Maybe someone has Reassurance. Maybe the guy on hook tried to 4% and threw away a chunk of his timer. Maybe no one wants to mess with NOED and just leaves.

Yes, abusing one broken offering if and when you found one and spent 7k blood points for it is so much stronger than being able to win while half asleep 90% of the time. You can win without add-ons or offerings just fine now and reliably. If you can't and I, who played mostly survivor for the ~2400 hours I have played, can... I'm gonna go with it being a skill issue.
Cool.
Doesn't change what I said. Insta-murder without having to actually hook people will still trump any perk meta, ever. Now and forever. Unless they someone introduce a mechanic that lets you kill survivors even faster.
Even old Dead Hard and old Decisive Strike and all the flashlights in the world didn't save you from that.

Jokes aside, can we please stop making every discussion post us vs them? Good killers still knew how to counter DH, and maybe it gets changed after the PTB. Because the way it's described now it doesn't deter any survivor from just straight-up hook farming their teammates just to get their DH, and the killer will just tunnel the unhooked because they know they don't have DH active, I honestly don't know how BHVR hasn't considered this... god forbid they do something about camping and tunneling 😅
I'd rather live in a world where the universe didn't revolve around Dead Hard.

When people say they want a Meta shift, what they mean is they want THEIR stuff left alone and the OTHER side's stuff nerfed to oblivion.

Tunnelling, something that did actually get loads of complaints, got buffed, by the way, just as an aside. As did 3-genning, which was the root concern for COB and OC.

You're conveniently forgetting about the global healing nerf and the medkit nerf on top of CoH no longer giving access to self-healing, effectively deleting solo queue while barely affecting SWF.
But yes, 'two'.
I'm not forgetting. I just know what a "perk" is and medkits are not a perk.
My point stands. TWO perks were nerfed. Not "tons".

With a ton of good survivor perks and killer perks being gutted, people will start using other perks that will completely ruin the fun of the game. Every survivor will run adrenaline, and any genrush build, because that's really all you can run now as they have gutted basically everything else that was useful on the survivor side. If this patch goes through, they could genuinely lose a part of their player base. And while this happens a lot (people say that will quit and whatnot) I think it could actually happen this time considering the fact that the last two chapters were pretty mediocre, and this could be a snapping point. I personally spent way too much money on this game to quit, so I won't, but the new meta will genuinely make the game so much less fun.

I've been playing DBD for 5 whole years and the way the game has been handled is just sad. DBD was so much better back in the day.

Y'all have NOED, devour and so many other perks like lethal persuer to have an advantage. We have nothing to counter that ######### since everything got nerfed to the ground because of killers whining.
NOED and Devour are countered by doing bones and Lethal is countered by Distortion.

If y'all release this god awful patch I will want my money back. In no way shape or form will I continue to play the game if y'all release this patch. Keep the bloodweb thing but everything else? Please no. A little tip: Instead of nerfing the ######### out of survivor touch killers hex totems instead. NOED, Devour Hope and so on. ######### give them such an advantage you can't counter because they partol their ######### totems. On God I hope this is a joke.

I'm beginning to think of yall just simply suck at this game. A lot of killers can easily circumvent this. Like all ranged killers and all dashing killers. Really, the only killers that'll have a hard time denying Dead Hard to the savior are the M1 killers
I read it just fine.
So I will repeat myself:
This has no bearing on tunneling because killers do not base their targets based on the possible existence of Dead Hard.

Why not just start with a medkit nerf and see how that goes first? Nerfing circle of healing and regular altruistic healing speeds on top of medkits and medkit add-ons? Have you considered what that’s gonna be like for players going against a killer like legion?
I get that you’re listening to feedback on here and that’s great but it seems like you never try to implement things in steps to try it out first. Just taking a massive sledgehammer to every nerf and overdoing it appears to be the way.
Didnt you just see this with the announcement to nerf eruption and then going back on some of it because of how extreme that was? Also how is this helping to bridge the gap between solo and swf by nerfing individual healing abilities into the ground?
"you never try to implement in steps"
What? Are you new to game changes? The vast majority of changes to this game take place in tiny percentages. Just look at the add on pass they did!

I am super stoked for these changes.

Killer has been in its' best spot ever. The game is literally handed to them on a silver platter most of the time. I've switched to playing killer outside of challenges or when a friend is around because solo queue is utterly unbearable and keep getting worse with every new patch.
Please stop spreading this lie.
"Killer is in its best spot ever!" is untrue, and will always be untrue.
And the reason why is because nothing, no tweak, to any perk or heal speed or any of that will ever compare to the old Ebony Mori. Nothing in the last 2-3 years that has changed is anywhere close to the power of instantly murdering any survivor on the floor.
Just stop it.
-
I'm coming after your Technician!
Didn't see that one coming, did ya?!
-
This doesn't make any sense. For this nerf to "encourage" tunnelling it would imply that Dead Hard ever discouraged it in the first place. In order for it do that, we would need to know if the person even has Dead Hard in the first place. And I have never seen a Killer avoid a person being unhooked just because they have Dead Hard.
