It was one of the highest kill rate maps for killers already. It wasn‘t a map where killers struggled.

Main issue was how boring it could be. You literally got to run marathon there with easy LoS, so impossible to mind game.

Like everything has to be only perfect for killers (Rant against behavior). There wasn’t much more survivors can do besides running, which is more and more behaviors balancing idea, but even that is too much now. They just put a small object next to a pallet and call it a day. The old pallets were so much more useful than the new ones and now the killer has an even easier time getting to survivors who can‘t know where the killer is. The map already suffered from a lack of windows, which makes you run out of pallets relatively fast.

I find it extremely boring and unfun what behavior does to newer and old maps. They just put there no or almost useless loops, make it extremely small and give the killer 20 short cuts, so that they can‘t loop nor run away. Then as killer I have the easiest matches and only feel bad for survivors.

Like everything has to be only perfect for killers (Rant against behavior).

I didn't really enjoy playing there even as survivor. Either it was killer who didn't have issue with hold W and we usually lost, or they struggled and it was easy win.

    I don't see how that is fun…

Then as killer I have the easiest matches and only feel bad for survivors.

Then make it harder for yourself, if you have such an issue with it. There is many ways how, but I don't think you really want to. It's not like BHVR needs to do it for you.

  • It was not good for survivors? Well, depends on the killer.

Main issue was how boring it could be. You literally got to run marathon there with easy LoS, so impossible to mind game.

  • I think exponential is quite underrated.

Most of my games I lost were because of that boon. Some maps have evil spawns for boon...

    Probably combine it with CoH

  • Really? That's your issue with realism in DBD?

Repairing gen, healing, hook through shoulder?

There is not much realistic about this game...

The sad thing is they can‘t really improve the spawns by much, when maps become smaller and smaller and tinier. Since they did this totem spawns became worse and worse.

You can simply make gaps in some structures like Badham has few spots, but they don't think about totems at all with map design, then just randomly place them around, which creates such terrible spawns.

Leri's, Badham and some others have this. So totem is inside some small structure of grass, or boxes etc.

You can also use corners of map, they don't need to be put in middle. I am pretty sure I would be able to find enough hiding spots on most maps, except Eyrie of Crows probably...

I did mention the killers but of course i do also mean survivors.

I still think all bugs should be fixed. If something ends being "weak" or "boring" you can change it with actual features.

Well, we have seen how that would go with Helldivers.

Some bugs are simply good for the game. They make it more interesting/fun.

I think only actually broken bugs should be fixed, or if they make the killer simply too strong. Then it's logical "nerf" target.

I really don't think that's the case for wolf hugtech, quite the opposite. I simply won't care about character after this unless they bring other changes.

I can say same for several other killers.

There are bugs that should be removed, yet they still exist. Chucky's bug is really broken in my opinion. That should be removed.

  • Yeah, that's one of features I would like to see implemented to help soloQ

  • I just want better skins, I refuse to play him otherwise...

  • @Yoshirama said:

They need to adjust his hitboxes and delete or rework how he can hit survivors through some structures, especially ceilings.

Good way to make him irrelevant

  • @Valimure said:

The power is literally Executioner's Punishment of the Damned, but silent. Wolf's power is literally Demogorgon's Shred, but silent. They just recycled other killer powers and made them harder to dodge.

    Both are worse than original.

  • Yeah, some are too weak and would need buffs, but I don't think that is main problem.

Main issue is totem spawns. Spawns middle of nowhere visible from half of the map, spawns next to gens, guaranteed spawns easy to find, survivors spawning on top of hex...

What is purpose of totem hunting perks at this point? I don't think any totem should be in a spot you can see from 4+ meters, it should be in spots you need to actively check to find them.

  • @albertoplus said:

All bugs should be fixed, from the Wolf one to the Knight. But yes, they have a lot of bias by fixing the bugs that improve the killer but making into "features" the ones who are a detriment to them.

They should not go sometimes black and sometimes white. Fix all the bugs. If a killer ends weak because people were abusing a bug, then buff the killer.

    Easy as hell.

They wouldn't feel weak, because if all bugs, then both sides.

CJ, Window, Crouch, FOV, 360 etc.

I think it would actually kill the DBD, because both sides would become incredibly boring.

The strategy and game pace would change gradually in the given server. Killers would create a counter play as they always have found, such as map pressure, perks, mind games, baits, etc.

They didn't find it in CoH meta, also STBFL and Sloppy butcher was nerfed since then. Those were used to help with it, but not really successfully…

I don't see a reason why it should be different now, quite the opposite.

  • I would say easy self-care is what removes ANY thrill.

It's was easier, faster and safer than altruistic healing. Doesn't seem balanced to me.

Altruistic healing takes 16 seconds without perks. That would be 32 seconds total and self-healing is easier, so should never be under 40 seconds unless it requires either specific space like Strength in shadows (not safe), or it is resource (Inner Strength/medkit).

Blights hugtech got removed and that was pretty skillful, Wolfs hugtech is next to come so I think its only fair Wesker gets his removed too.

I don't think Blight's tech was difficult to do and it was way better than Wesker and Wolf. Blight in general is way stronger.

Blight could easily take removing hugtech. I don't think wolf can...

I overall don't like removing most techs unless they are really easy and broken. Those hugtechs are not in that category imo, there are way stronger things in DBD, but luckily not mainstream.

I’m going to stop at this first point because there’s no real sense in going on. NOED is the only perk in this game that can turn a 4E into a 4K. Do survivors have a perk that does anything like this? (Rhetorical. Of course they don’t)

No, it can't. NOED itself will get you 1 extra kill at best.
You need NOED, No Way out (at least), usually also Batteries included and Remember me/Blood warden or some tracking perk.
    It's meme build, not meta.

Do survivors have a perk that does anything like this?

What about any of those second chance perks?
    Unbreakable can definetly do that.
    DS, OTR, DH, Deliverance, Babysitter

All of those perks won games for us. If killer won't manage to kill a survivor fast, we finish all gens, who would have thought?
Those perks help to prevent that, which let's us leave.

  • @caipt said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3793719#Comment_3793719

thrill is good in totem builds, noed is itself, sloppy butcher is still decent, whispers can be alright, and unrelenting has been the top killer perk since day one buckaroo.

Totem builds are simply bad, Thrill is trash compare to previous version.
NOED is not meta, you need whole build around it.
Sloppy is not really better than addons at this point, it's just bad.
Whispers can be good on few killers. Issue is it also works on hooked survivor, so it won't help you find next chase easily.
    Unrelenting is trash.

  • RIP Wolf 2024-2024

They better have other changes planned. Otherwise I simply won't care about Dracula anymore after this, which is sad, because I was quite hyped for Castlevania...

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

honestly at the end of the day these things are bugs and unintentional ways to play the game I totally support removing this stuff now

Well, Knight showed that bugs can become features.

I also don't see crouch tech(bug) to be removed...

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3793719#Comment_3793719

You really think you did something.

    Better than those perks: NOED

Foils to those perks: Spies from the Shadows, Whispers, Bitter Murmur, Sloppy Butcher, Unrelenting.

NOED is just a shadow for it was, it's nowhere near to be considered meta.

Same for sloppy, only desperate killers run it, when they don't have better option.

Unrelenting is supposed to be a joke, right?

Whispers is actually good on like two killers, definitely not meta.

Spies got better recently, but nowhere near best information perks.

Bitter Murmur is basically Huntress only thing.

Those survivor perks are used even by survivors with thousands of hours, because they are very good options. Some especially for soloQ.

Even if that were true, all survivors have are perks and items (which are mehh these days). Killer have powers that make playing as Killer fresh, also older perks can synergise with new Killer powers.

Nt that I don't want good Killer perks.

Sure, but not that many players are going to keep playing new killers.

Perks are something you can bring to other killers. If those perks are mostly trash, then whole chapter can easily become irrelevant.

  • @Ayodam said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3793245#Comment_3793245

Sure. The Unknown’s chapter dropped a survivor with a perk that took 90+ seconds in the basement to remove 1/10th of a generator’s progress & left the survivor broken for the entirety of the trial; a deliverance that only worked on basement hooks, and a self care that required being in the basement. The killer’s perks weren’t great (except unforeseen) but none of them, not one, helped the survivors in anyway or required wild stipulations for value.

People still run Genetic Limits (at least, I also see Machine Learning consistently used). No one uses Soma’s perks anymore.

The generic perks are largely the same: worse for survivor, better for killer.

Generic: The generic perks are largely the same: worse for survivor, better for killer.

Lol, do you even know what generic perks are in DBD?

List me good generic killer perks.

None of them are better than Deja Vu, Kindred, Hope, Resilience, We'll make it.

    This is not even close.

  • @Ayodam said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3793224#Comment_3793224

Definitely not worse. Killers always receive better perks even if they’re still not great.

    Always?

Wanna compare Unknown chapter for example...

Singularity really is not on killer's side.

Also best example would be simple. Wanna compare generic perks?

Im going to say it: Still SIght, Dramaturgy, Plot Twist, Chemical Trap and Light Footed are underrated.

I really enjoyed playing with Chemical trap after last buff. You have it basically for every chase.

  • Killers are not better imo. I would say worse.

  • @MrMori said:

Now that his playstyle is mostly snipes and you're rewarded for long range guards, he absolutely feels reliant on Call to Arms. They could give 5m path range and 15% faster path movement basekit, then tone the addon down. That would be great.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3793184#Comment_3793184

I'm not sure why you feel the minimum distance from an object wasn't changed, it absolutely is easier to place guards in tight areas or near objects now. It's even in the patch notes in 8.1.0. It could be bugged or something but the games I played after 8.2.0 it still seems to be working just fine.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/PBTH837TGC40/image.png

Yeah, this is what I have been talking about in patch notes.

But when I have tried to use Carnifex, it didn't let me use him until I was at actually way bigger distance away from pallet.

I can do some testing today about it.

  • My main issue is I think they increased minimum distance you need to be from object, while it was supposed to be decreased instead (if I remember correctly)...

  • I find funny people complaining about lack of punishment on probably easiest to miss power in DBD.

Like I want Billy players be ambitious with their curves and try it. Punishing him will lead only to more M1 hits, which is boring.

  • I definitely wouldn't like it and I am going to disable it before even playing first game. If I play soloQ, I don't want to talk with people....

Just create chat wheel as Vecna has with basic call-outs. Anyone can use it, it's simple and with CD can't be abused for toxic purposes.

  • Overall nice changes, but I definitely wouldn't go path excluding specific killers, or SWF from any changes.

Why exclude those killers from Corrupt change for example? They are going to end it by downing survivor way before time limit anyway.

I like aura reading around hook (I would change it you simply see anyone outside of your lobby).

I am not really fan of dropping pallet display, it's going to make protection hits so much easier...

  • I usually don't watch lobby at all, so it's same for me.

But I think it was good decision to hide it.

  • "Game is too easy now"

Not really, you just make it easy for yourself and complain about it. It doesn't make sense.

You want killer to be more difficult?

    • always go for 8 hooks

    Not enough?

    • play with 0 slowdowns

    Not enough?

    • play killer without power for mobility

    Not enough?

    • Only brown or yellow add-ons

    Etc.

If it's too easy just play Freddy with no perks, no add-ons and go for 8 hook.

You like to play strong killer, but want a challenge? You can simply give survivors free time at start of the match.

So many ways how to make DBD challenging, if you actually wanted to have it this way. It's not like devs need to hinder everyone, just because of you. You can do it yourself very easily.

  • I hope they just change overdrive a little, or something minor without big effect on pick rate.

I don't really play Billy, but I love to play against them.

  • I don't think it needs a cooldown at all. Main downside is you basically can kick gen 4 times (if you have killer with good chase).

You lose stacks very fast. Either remove CD, or buff %

  • Yeah, I highly doubt it.

But I would definitely want to watch the stream, or if you are EU I will gladly try to play with you.

Funny is, if you encounter it "every" game, then use anti-tunneling perks. So much guaranteed value. Just use DS and Babysitter.

Camping was just nerfed, so I don't really worry about this one.

  • @nam said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3792499#Comment_3792499

Most survs are bad cuz they are spoiled by OP perks, imagine I'm taking Deliverance + Off the record to anti-tunnel and plunder killer's advance, the killer can never force the game into 3v1 therefore survs are always in the lead. These perks are just like wheelchairs for bad players.

Well, doesn't change they are bad and it won't help them.

This wouldn't be example I would use as why some survivors won't improve.

Lately I have realized my reasons were Lither and WoO. It's simply brainless to have a good chase with those two perks, so I got rid of both from my builds now.

  • I don't think Dracula needs buff for strength, but more like changes focused on how he feels to play.

Hellfire is weird to use with how using it works. (Can't flick like most killers, but camera is also not locked like PH)

Wolf is valid only because of hugtech, which is difficult to use. (I definitely drop the killer, if they remove it without buffs)

Bat is so loud and annoying I try to always get out of it asap.

  • @nam said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3792483#Comment_3792483

No matter what game you are playing, you have to play the most OP char to get more effect with the same effort. In DBD, a top SWF team is dominating, they can relax, gen rush, or bully as long as they want. In opposite, how many top killers can get 4k as long as they want? That's my point, killer and surv do not get the same effect with the same effort

I would say in terms of is difficulty it's on survivors side. You need to get 4 good/decent players and most players are bad.

But when we talk about how stressful it is, then it's on killers side for sure in my opinion.

There are killers where I am confident to win against 99% groups, if I would play to win every game, which I am not. With Blight I try to end the game on 0/1 gens left if survivors are not that useless.

There are definitely killers, where you are going to lose na matter what you do at some point. Legion is very good example of that. That's something that comes with the killer and you should expect it to happen, that's like people who expect to escape games regularly as soloQ.

  • Feel free to ask for other killers, but for those two I mainly use:

    Wraith
    Surveilance, Surge, Oppression, Bamboozle
Make your choice, Devour Hope, Undying, Flood of rage

    Spirit
Spies from the shadows, Languid touch, Surge, Pop
Nowhere to hide, Eruption, Pain res, No Way Out

  • I would like to for Dracula, so forms have locked positions and current is simply locked.

    Knight would also work.

I don't think Freddy needs it for 2 options.

  • I personally play him less and less.

I love the frenchise, his power looks cool and has potential, but there are several issues.

Vampire: is overall good enough, but his casting of hellfire simply feels weird. I would either make it as other killers, that it land where you are looking at point of actually casting, or as PH and lock the camera.

Wolf: decent only because of hugtech, which is quite difficult to use. Will be really bad when they nerf it.

Bat: I still hate his sound so much... Definitely reduce the volume. I don't care if survivors hear it.

  • I didn't feel affected as killer that much, but it has already won several games for us, when I played survivor. I think that's the most optimal outcome you can hope for.

Simply don't unhook until killer found their chase and use the time to work on gens.

  • From free killers either Wraith (easiest), or Huntress (not that high skill floor, but very high skill ceiling).

You might struggle with builds, because generic perks are terrible and perks from free killers are not really that much better. At least for mentioned killers.

But best way how to improve is simply watch better players and copy what they are doing imo. Worked for me.

  • @ratcoffee said:

    slugged survivor is also progression

240 seconds minimum vs 140 seconds maximum, imo it's inarguable that slugging is a slower way of advancing your win con than hooking & thus wastes more time

But it has almost no risks (except unbreakable and boon), it wastes survivors time basically same as if you hooked (or more), yet it didn't waste any of killer's time.

You can go look for a chase right after hit recovery.

If you are there when survivor gets saved, you can immediately down the survivor again and chase rescuer. (except Soul Guard and WGLF)

If I down a survivor who wasn't hooked and see a survivor who was hooked before. Slugging is always a better option.

Hooking is unlikely to matter and it gave hooked survivor free distance and chance to hide/recover.

Pain res made it valid to hook even fresh hooks, but they nerfed it incorrectly instead...

  • They just nerfed tunneling/proxy camping, if survivors are smart at least...

You get to have extra 10 seconds per hook stage. Survivor on hook, can't get tunnelled.

Simply don't unhook a second killer turns around.

I hope DBD will create global spectate feature, where you can spectate any game in past X days simply by using a code. Dota has it...

It would be so easy to call out people. I get genrushed all the time, I get tunneled each game, killers keep bleeding us etc.

Then you can quickly check and see what's really going on.

  • Tutorial has tons of issues with lack of information.

I would like to see an option to let players play ANY killer against bots. So everyone can find if they like the killer, or simply learn how the killer works.

Otherwise I would just tell them to run away... This game is just not noob friendly at all.

  • @ratcoffee said:

    • progressing your objective is not wasting time
    • there's like 3 usable perks based around hooks for survivors and they're all mediocre at best. refusing to hook to counter them is like that one otzdarva video he staged with viewers as a joke, where he manages to kill all 4 survivors by teleporting to lockers as dredge and he frames it as "they countered my sloppy butcher"
    • i guess technically? the liklihood of getting flashlight/stun saved and the net time lost if it happens are far outweighed by the benefit of forcing survivors to get off gens and go for the unhook within the next 70 seconds, activating pain res, activating pop, activating grim embrace, getting stacks of no way out, finding the next chase with BBQ, Alien Instinct, or Friends to the End, activating Blood Echo, etc, etc, but if you're just talking about things that might happen that are not strictly to your benefit that is technically those could happen. personally if i were that risk averse i would simply not play a game like dbd, but to each their own

if you have 1/2 survivors hooked, then you aren't not hooking survivors. the guy i was responding to was arguing that "hooking isn't worth their time anymore" which imo implies that they'll never have 1/2 survivors hooked because they're straight up not hooking. i'd agree that 2 hooked and 1 slugged is a stronger position to be in than 2 hooked and 1 on your shoulder, so in that specific scenario there is a disadvantage to picking, but that also implies that picking was the correct decision in 66% of the cases in question - again, far from homeboy's claim that it's simply "not worth their time"

progressing your objective is not wasting time

Slugged survivor is also progression. Their timer is limited...

if you have 1/2 survivors hooked, then you aren't not hooking survivors. the guy i was responding to was arguing that "hooking isn't worth their time anymore" which imo implies that they'll never have 1/2 survivors hooked because they're straight up not hooking. i'd agree that 2 hooked and 1 slugged is a stronger position to be in than 2 hooked and 1 on your shoulder, so in that specific scenario there is a disadvantage to picking, but that also implies that picking was the correct decision in 66% of the cases in question - again, far from homeboy's claim that it's simply "not worth their time"

Ok, then I would disagree with that statement.

Hooking is fastest way to end the game, but you really need 1-2 survivors to hook. Others can be slugged all the time.

I am not saying that's how I play, but it's most efficient way playing the killer imo.

1 2 3 4 … 39
