  • Oddly I have not had anyone BM me YET in end-game chat and I'm coming up on 100 hours, so you'd think I'd have had SOMEthing by now... If I figure out what I'm doing differantly I'll let you know.

    1. You can't always just avoid "tunneling". DS can 100% activate even when you aren't tunneling.

    2. What if I already went for someone else and now the DS user is working on a generator? Do I leave them alone and let them do the gen? Yeah, jUsT sLuG, but why should an anti-tunnel perk activate when I'm not tunneling?

    3. So, let them get away for free, even if I'm not tunneling.

    4. Unbreakable exists, you know? DS/Unbreakable is a very common combo.

    5. Patrol gens, then I find a Survivor. Little do I know, they still have DS up. So, what now?

All of these ways to "avoid" DS don't work against Survivors who abuse it.

*laughs in Executioner main. At survivor's DS's*

  • No, because people would self kill in the middle of the match, and not just in the scenario you described. You would be amazed how EASY people just give up. Kinda disgusting imo.

  • I don't think Buffy is a good fit for a suvivor. She's a character that should be able to fight back, even against a lot of DBD's supernatural cast. She's too strong of a character, both physically and in terms of skill/capability to be a survivor. It would not make sence imo to put her in such a helpless role.

    Name: Whatever It Takes

    Survivor perk

While sprinting in chase, you can barge through and destroy a breakable door. After doing this you are left with the hemmorage status effect for 80/70/60 seconds.

    (pls no hate for misspelling)

THAT would interesting! I havn't really played long enough to know if that would be unbalanced but I like the twist of a suvivor being able to break a wall!

Hmm, instead of blue scratch marks, why not make use of the new Dark Fog (Seen in the PTB), perhaps recolored? Survivors intermittently leave a trail of clouds at about waist height, with the 'scent' clouds expanding (and becoming more transparent) as they dissipate?

Oh I like that better! I did not think we already had assests for fog/smoke, but come to think of it clown has smoke so yeah there does exist assets that could be used.

  • Killer perk: Fear Scent

You can smell their fear. Your prey cannot hide from you.

Survivors that are injured or are suffering from any negative status effects leave blue scratch marks even when walking or crouching. These scratch marks persist 30/40/50 % longer than scratch marks left by running.

"The beast took in the air... and slowly grinned."

    Hex: Thorn

When a dull totem is cleansed the survivor who cleansed it looses one health state. When this hex is cleaned the suvivor who cleansed it is exposed for 10/20/30 seconds and their aura is reveled for 2/3/4 seconds.

    "It was a trap!"

(Idk about you guys but I really like the idea of more 'trap' Hexes, like Deathslinger's)

  • At least as killer you can swat people out of the gate, maybe get a down if you're lucky. I have denied exits on people fiddle-farting around in the exit gate. Warped in with nurse and just started hitting everyone like 'ok, ok, party's over, go home.' and a bill goes down. His fingers are touching the black tendril blockers. He goes on a hook and I smile at my well earned 1k.

  • Any non-baby Doc. He just gets loads of free pressure and doesn't even have to aim his power. Granted Doc strikes me as a 'newbie slayer' and I'm sure he's not nearly as threatening to more experienced survivors. But I am not a more experienced survivor.

  • I don't dodge because the rating I get at the end of the match isn't what I use to measure if I had fun.

Also I'm not a baby. Lobby dodging is basically a DC before the game starts, and if you do that you're like a little kid that throws his sucker in the dirt because you landed on the 'Go to jail' space in Monopoly.

  • Absolutely not. People already make the mistake of letting the rank number tell them if they had fun or not. Too few people know the trick of ignoring these numbers. If you can see your MMR a lot of people would trick themselves into not having fun.

I don't take it too seriously. But the numerous salty post I see on the forums suggests otherwise.

The results of one of the past surveys from I think April, also has it that ppl tend to not play killer cuz of how stressful it is. Overwhelming amount of surveyors stated that it was too stressful.

Ur actually in the minority, and not the majority.

That just adds to the power fantasy for me. I have the mind set the the survivors were set loose in the enclosure for me to play with. They exist in the trial for my entertainment. I get to be greedy and hunt them all so in that way I suppose they have fun, but as I said, the suvivors are there to make sure the killer enjoys themselves. In the game the Killers are the main characters.

  • ... Yes. The game about death, darkness and monsters IS a horror game... I don't know how you could possibly contest that.

"Dead by Daylight is an asymmetric survival horror video game..." ~ Wikipedia

"Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer (4vs1) horror game..." ~ Steam

"Dead by Daylight is a 1v4 multiplayer game that draws from all corners of the horror world..." ~ PlayStation store

"Dead by Daylight™ is a multiplayer (4vs1) horror and action game..." Apple App store

So yes. Both you and mad lord are correct! According to her, You, Me and four other srouces it is indeed a horror game. Should I get quotes from MORE offical websites just to be 100% sure? 😁

  • 'I mean if ur so good at killer that u never break a sweat and every moment u hit a survivor is a thrill, than yea, the TC is either psychotic, have a rare personality disorder where u can't feel anything including stress, or just dam good for such a long time that u forgot how it feels to be normal.'

I don't get tilted easy. I went like 10 0k games in a row without getting tilted. Years of games like Runescape, Anything Artix Entertainment puts out, Most first party Nintendo titles, have conditioned me to not take any game seriously and to get into character as much as possible.

I also realy like being the one in power. I mean the game is pretty much a power fantacy for the killer. 4 real people run from you, have very limited ability fight back, and the only way they don't die they escape the trial. Trial for them. Sport for me.

Whenever somebody asks me what things are cringe and edgy, I'll show them this post.

Cringe: Noun -A dislike of anything unque or creative, a distane for anything slightly outside the mundane.

"He had a flavor of icecream other than one of the top 3 most popular flavors. Pretty cringe."

  • The bad only shines through if you force yourself to be critical and hyper-foces only on the negitives while closing your eyes at any good thing... Why do you people do that? And so many other games too! If you want to have fun, just have it.

    • game is totally unbalanced - *Haven't noticed yet, but I am only at 50 hours and I play killer, the more fun side.*
    • some perks are totally game breaking - *Kind of, but I acully don't see thoes as often as one would think.*
    • matchmaking is terrible - *Subjective, posting an opinion as if a fact shoes you are grasping at straws.*
    • servers are terrible- *? What do you mean? in like over 100 matches the server efed up like... twice?*
    • killer server side hit validation- *???*
    • bad optimization (graphically) -*Explain.*
    • bad map design (responsible for more unbalance) - *In your opinion, and you must think everything is bad if you dislike every map.
    • bad netcode- In over 50 hours I have experianced precicly 0 seconds of server or input lag.

So many of your points are repeats of each other. as if you don't really think these things and are just reaaaaching for excuses to be upset. Why do people like to be mad? Like... I don't.

  • Tunnleing and camping are like this game's zergling rush: Its gonna be effective at lower ranks, and it will likely get you kills and let you rank up... Until you find you're against better survivors who know how to deal with it, and you can't catch because you didn't practice all the skills you were meant to have practiced. You'll find yourself in over your head when that floaty finally pops.

Play survivor and you see what a difference it is. Survivor only have stressful moments when you are being chased more or less. Killer you have to constantly be on the move and awere of what is going on around you all the time. Some people feel at home in stressful situations I have a few of those at work, while most of us don't like stress.

I do play survivor when I have a challenge I think I can do. Its a dread. A slow, pounding dread. But I do quite enjoy flirting with danger via acts of risky altruism, swooping in for the distrction, make one loop, tag the downed guy and split!

As killer its a constant stream of adrenaline.

  • @Eleghost said:

Hmm i think you may need to seek some psychiatric help. Killer is more stressful as you have to juggle a bunch of things at once where as survivor you must sit on gen and loop killer.

Being powerful and dominate is not for everyone. I suppose people can't handle the weight of being a predator~ People would much rather be prey. To be hunted. To be food for me!

What arguments should I counter? Please tell me? Other dumb suggestions or "survivors may give false information"? That's laughable. Your entire point is a joke.

By the way, it seems you don't understand the entire point of my suggestion. Let me enlighten you.

I suggest not just a "blanket 1 side buff", but a huge and relatively simple step into direction of bringing solo survivors to SWF with comms levels. I hope you won't try to deny that the game is balanced around solo players and at the same there's a thing that allows survivors to get colossal advantage for nothing, which is unavailable to solo players. When solo players will possess at least similar tools as SWF survivors, the game could be balanced not around just "solo survivors" but simply around all survivors because there would be no magic gamemode that made survivors stronger, which means more buffs for killers like Trapper or other ones who perform pretty well against disorganized solo players, but fail miserably against coordinated SWF groups that share all info needed to nullify most threat from the killer.

Now, let me ask again, do you geniuenly believe that the communication feature that is available for SWF players for NOTHING should have severe downsides or limitations for solo players?

Outside of flat out implementing voice chat into the base game (Which is a terrible idea imo, something about this game just gets people tilted... I think its cathartic af) nothing is going to be as strong as the ability to talk to your team mates via voice. Every game that allows for any level of coperation is going to be easier when you talk to people with VC, this isn't a special flaw with DBD. Even if you could communicate at or near the level of SWF on coms, the fact that they're likely friends still puts them at a huge advantage. If say they're chased past a totem, you think they're going to use the chat wheel to tell you, a rando? Or are they gonna say 'hey, the totem is behind the corner gen' in vc?

And lastly, should games be balanced around people using modded clients? Balacing around a third party aplication is something I've seen very few games pull off well. (Haven & Hearth comes to mind as one that did it in an elegant, creative way.)

    1. I only spend blood points on a killer if that killer earned the blood points. The only time I let killers share BP is if I compleate a non-killer specific challenge, like say 'hook your obsession 3 times' (My survivors may share BP freely but may not spend any BP earned by a killer.)
    2. If I find you annoying I hit you once on the hook.
    3. If I down you inside the killer shack, you're going on the back hook.
    4. I will go after the weak link if I'm pretty sure you're swf.
    5. I will spam my power at the end of the match for extra points.

(This should be a given but I never DC, Never surrender, never give up in any game no matter what. Not in any MOBA, CCG, RTS, or IRL sport. I play until my HP is 0. Until my last unit is gone, until the clock hits 0:00. Anything short of that is BM imo)

  • I do like the idea of the killer getting boost of power right at the end. Sort of a 'You've done well, now here's one final challenge!' I'm not sure how or if i would nerf.

  • Honestly I almost quit after my first 2 games as a survivor. It was so hard and so stressful! Then I played killer and it felt... right. Cathartic even.

  • You forget this game has thousands of players.

Every killer will be played again, every killer will be mained by someone. Simple math and probability.

Also Trapper? His power hard-denies loops.

  • No, they just have a strange power that people havn't fully learned how to use effectivly yet. They're be coincided very weak at first but slowly rise up the ranks imo.

  • Instead of 'of you don't like it don't buy it' how about 'if you don't trust them, don't buy it' or if you think its fine in its current state, do buy it!

Keep in mind its not a licensed killer so she will be available with shards, AND there's always the chance you get her perks on the shrine.

Ultimately no one but the individual decides, it isn't a group vote, there are no ties. But i can almost 100% guarantee you the survivor/s who escaped thinks they won and could care less about those who died, even if its 1 escape 3 killed.

I can only speak for myself but as a killer, survivors will almost always talk ######### post game if even 1 of them escapes, so yeah, for me, its 4k or a loss.

You're really good at not seeing the blatant inverse. The suvivors who dies will see it as a loss, and not care who lived. And even if they talk #########, you can talk ######### too if you only got a 1k. Its not as if the chat doesn't let you.

I respect your conclution but I think your reasoning is weak and easily destroied by simple pseudo-logical observations.

I stopped reading the moment I saw you saying killers should be able to hear survivors sharing info.

Can't really blame me for assuming the other points are as dumb as the first one.

Twice you have responded, and twice you have failed to provide any counter argument. Of course you just invaloidated your objection by admitting you did not read all of it.

I sugest another layer of gameplay and mind game potential. You sugest a blanket buff to only 1 side of the game to compensate for the use of third party programs. If DBD was a game where you could only play as a survivor and killers were just AI, I would agree with you.

But you cannot simply roll out a blanket buff to what most would argue is already the stronger side.

  • The old 'repeate yourself and don't read my post' tactic. Since you did not respond to my other points I assume you agree with them. After all, if you didn't you would refuse those talking points and not just double down on this one. Check.

Can killer see or hear information survivors share through comms while playing in SWF? No.

Why should killers be able to see information from chatwheel? The ENTIRE point of it is to give solos tools SWF get for nothing.

Because it makes more sence. Like the killer evesdropping on them. Perhaps an item or perk lets them send or receive messages telepathically and the killer can't hear that.

Besides~ Oh uncreative one, truly dubious teams could feed the killer false information~ Didn't think of that one, did you?

  • If it has a limited range (Say just over standard TR?) and the killer can also see the messages, yes.

  • I think an in-game quick chat that worked in a certain raidous would be really cool.

There could be so many mind games. You could evsdrop if you were the killer.

You could use red-herrings if you're the survivors to mislead the killer. Like in the pre-game chat set the code "Hey guys, 'lets heal here' means split up, and 'lets split up' means 'I'm going for the hook rescue'

    Oh it would be rad!

  • @Rattman said:

You shouldn't project your experience as a player for this. There is no sane person would enjoy being killed time and time again. It's not how it works.

My experience is I am addicted to the thrill of the hunt! An never-ending rotation of prey! There for me whenever I feel like it!

  • @MeatBycicle said:

2k is a loss in my opinion because those two survivors who escaped don't see it as a tie or a loss for them, they see it as they won.

Ah! but by this exact same logic those two survivors who were killed don't see it as a tie or a win for them, they see it as they lost.

So its still 2 people's opinion vs 2 people's opinion. So we're back to the killer being the deciding vote.

My main take away from this is that in a 2k the killer decides if they won or not. Or if it was a tie or a draw.

  • @TheButcher said:

Don't play Killer. Period. The role is a job. I've been playing Survivor so far today, and been having a great time.

Lol, IMO killer is WAY less stressful and way more fun than survivor. Suvivor you're on the defensive, hiding and sneaking, and worrying about dragging down your team... Killer I can just kick back, smack a few suvivors, relish the thrill of the chase and eh if I ######### up, I ######### up, they can't really fight back. If they try to go on the offensive they just waste time and put themselves in unproductive danger. Its a game where you get to hunt and torment 4 other people, a never-ending feast of play things! And much to my, personal, glee THATS the more popular side! So its like I have a personal, unlimited supply of prey to hunt!

  • I just dont. Its hard to explain. I decide I'm not going to, then I dont. It helps that personally I don't take the game seriously in the slightest. If I pip, I pip. If I de-pip I de-pip. This comes from years of not playing games seriously. Play with the same mind set you wouldplay Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley! Years of chill games like that, and non-serious games like AQ3D makes it easy for me but if you play thoes games a bit and then come back to this you'll find it easy to channel.

Also play with cross console on and more matches than not you'll be up against people who can't chat.

  • I was out-played af as Huntress, and I got a luckly shot at the end on a guy who would have had a guy dead on first hook at the very end of the game, because his team escaped with out him. This guy was their best distracter and saver so I carried him to the hook, and stalled in front of it for a few seconds to let him escape instead of taking the absolutely undeserved K. I didn't want him to 'know' I was sparing him tho so I had to make it convincing like 'Oh no! The noob killer can't get in front of the hook! Curses! You wiggled free!'

Thats the only time I've intentionally let a survivor go.

I know who that is lol just bc you can win with someone dosnt mean there good.. i could almost 4K every game with old Freddy does that mean he’s good? Or trutalent can make any killer look strong does that mean there good? A YouTuber I watch won 50 games in a row with old bubba WITH speed limiter ...just bc you can get consistent 4K’s dosnt mean the killers good lol

    ?????

If consistant 4ks does not make a killer good, what, prey tell, does???

  • I ran Unrelenting until I got better at hitting the first swing. Its not a strong perk by any means and should be replaced asap, but it is a good set of training wheels.

Keep in mind also that your base movment speed is faster. (Unless you're nurse) So a lot of the time you can choose when to stop the chase. A lot of the time if I think they're gonna 360 I spin with my hit. idk if that actully moves the hit box but I seem to get people.

  • A dwight, I popped the gen like three times and then just stood there so at least my buff was active. I was literally panicking at the computer worrying about ruining the game for my friends XD Only I died.

Then my first game as killer I played nurse thinking 'Oh! She can teleport, she must be easy to play!' I think I got a single hit that whole game.

  • You can have fun by quite simply deciding to. Its hard to explain but if you want to have fun, you will. You just have to have that mind set. Get into character, you know? try wacky things when normal tactics arn't working.

  • Do keep in mind that players who are not single didget exist. Your complain wears blinders and assumes every survivor both can and will play 100% optimally. This game has thousands of plays. Among them will be all red, really good teams and among them will be floundering noobs. But even I, a very new killer, have gotten kills against single diget rank survivors with Traper who's concidered a lower tier killer.

  • Nea is the Entity. We see a puppet body.

  • Loop hole!! Guys! LOOP HOLE!!!

Technically Texas chainsaw massacre, Nightmare on Elm St, Halloween, Scream, Stranger Things, Silent Hill, ect ect are all part of the DBD extended world! So any LGBT characters in any of those franchise should count! Ok guys! Whoever can bf'd to do it go research every third party franchise in DBD to see if one technically already exists in-lore.

  • The entity is actually Bi. J/K

But in all seriousness, TECHNICALLY there are atypical sexualitys already. Pretty sure a large portion of the killers are asexual.

Also the way a video game works is that you as the player are allowed to assume ANYTHING that is not implied or explicitly stated. So if no lore says a character is straight then you can assume whatever you want.

  • Survivors have an advantage, generally, at the very start of the game. 7 gens to partol, 4 of you tackle them. A killer wants to close that advantage as soon as possible. Generally. I know its been said probably 1,000 times but the killer is the killer, they get to be the bad guy~

  • I feel like they could but the entity makes it a point to not select survivous who know how to/have the will to fight back. A pallet, for example, isn't that heavy. You could hold the whole thing and use it as a battering ram. Or the various scrap around the map, or the tools from the tool box. An improvized weapon could be near anything. The Entiy simply dosn't choose people who are competent in improvised weapons. Like Macgyver would never be choosen since he could use the genarator and scrap and build a danm rail gun or something. XD

  • Chucky would have to be slow or have a wider terror raidious to balance his tiny profile. Or else you would have an odd-job situation on your hands.
