I dont really think that they have a QA consisting of veteran players. Noone who knows some things about this game would allow such unreasonable changes to be done. And I heavily doubt that they would revert it. They make undoubtedly clear that they do what they want regarding game design. Community feedback is just a nuisance to their daily chores. I bet DbD is the multiplayer game with the least feedback leading to changes.
Any time the devs don't do exactly what people want, they get a bunch of feedback that consists of sulking and bitterness, inarticulately screamed at them by a bunch of kids. It genuinely must suck to have to wade through so much garbage trying to find feedback that is actually useful.

No, Billy's teammate can instadown while he's sprinting. He doesn't get instadowns though.
That's pretty nasty. It might be even stronger than Billy having the insta-down.
-
No. BHVR does not have to consult us before making changes to the game.
Agreeing to be transparent doesn't mean they have to discuss everything with us before it goes live.
-
Billy can insta-down, just not from idle. "Expose survivors whilst chainsaw sprinting".
There may not be a need for ten generators, as when the survivor is downed, they are sent to the cage. Meaning killers don't have to waste time dealing with flashlight/pallet saves, or carrying a survivor to a hook. Meaning more time to patrol gens.

They asked about Items or Offerings and then there is said that Cosmetics are fine.
So my assumption is correct that you thought that the Devs playing with default Cosmetics meant that Killers are not allowed to bring Cosmetics? Despite them not saying at all that this is the case?+1 for bothering to do the research.

Does resilience really need gen speed? You could change it to 10%, but remove gen speed.
I don't feel like it should or if it does it shouldn't stack with Prove thyself, toolboxes and dejavu. Its too much. The odds of a survivor being injured is high. Especially against legion or plague.
For some reason BHVR has no system for limiting stacking. If synergy is too good, at least one perk always ends up getting nuked.
Prove, Resilience and Deja Vu are fine. The toolboxes are the problem. Nuke those and leave the rest intact.
-
The game has to have a tool for players who have genuinely been harrassed, and for players like streamers, who are prone to being targetted and griefed. You can't remove that protection just because players with bad attitudes also use it.
The mode doesn't even shield cheaters, as you can report them in-game, so BHVR will know who they are regardless.

It's fine if that's your opinion about it. I do not share it. I think they haven't had a good way to change it into something else.
The community, including many well respected veterans of the game, some of whom work with BHVR, and have been here from the beginning, have made good suggestions for years as to how to change her blinks. The most common suggestion was that she shouldn't be able to blinks through walls with her second blink. Those suggestions were made years ago.
If that was too much for BHVR, there's no way they are going to remove her second blink, and give her some sort of life-sucking mechanic.
-
I wish they would just turbo buff the boons and limit them in some way to balance them out.
I'd rather have a strong boon with limited use, rather than have bunch of meh boons, that aren't worth using most of the time.
-
BHVR has had like eight years to change her blinks and they have chosen not to do it. I don't know why people think that suddenly they are going to do it now. Ask for add-on nerfs, or for them to add some new weaknesses, but they are never going to change her blinks in any major way.
-
Some folks here might be too young to remember, but we've already gone through a societal uproar over video games making people violent. There's never been a link found between video game violence and real life violence. It turns out that our brains can tell the difference. So this concern that violent games are influencing us to become worse people is just not true.

Well, not as brutal as Trapper's back massage, at least.
Wraith players are gonna have to wait for BHVR to release a furry suit for him.

Leaving aside the fact that you are playing a game about slasher-like killers hunting down people to sacrifice them to an eldritch entity, the truth is that most of the moris are not even that violent or gory.
In fact, I'll argue that the moris in the game need to be more flashy and brutal, as it is the only moment gameplay wise where you can have that "slasher movie" feeling in the game. In other words, they need to be more like the ones in DbD Mobile:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKPV7qi97bU
About your other points, DbD is a game about fictional characters. A game that nobody is forcing you to play, nobody has lied to you about what the game is about, and is rated PEGI 18+ / ESRB Mature, meaning it is for adults. If somebody is unable to separate reality from fiction, they are the ones with the problem, which has nothing to do with the contents of the game.
Are you suggesting that Wraith's gentle spanking mori isn't brutal enough?

I believe the ever shifting landscape of beauty standards is primarily responsible for her low pick rate. Gone are the days that a rotten corpse would be considered the apex of beauty.

I didn't know people were calling it Franklin's Weave. That's a pretty good name lmao.
-
I feel like Doctor needs a rework. His power is so simplistic, which means any buffs he gets are limited to just using those simple tools more often. Which would be great if his power was actually interesting to use, but it's one of the most boring powers in the game.

It’s Hyperbole lol, not literal. And yes Killer is the power role, their perks are supposed to be stronger that’s how this game works. Look at pain Rez 20% of the Gen with the most progress. Survivors don’t have a perk anywhere near that strong. Fast track could add 27% to a Gen but that requires every survivor to be dead lol. Every killer perk is stronger than its survivor counterpart.
I agree that killers are meant to be stronger. I just think it's not great to compare survivor and killer perks, as killers also have powers, not to mention that certain perks have great synergy with killer powers.
I find the roles of killer and survivor to be so different that I can't find balance by comparing the two sides to each other directly. Huntress with Lithe would be pretty broken. Pretty funny though.

This is the craziest take I’ve ever heard. One work should not counter 4 perks, let alone killer perks. Killer perks are supposed to be stronger because they get 4 perks compared to survivors potentially having 16 and having comms. You should need bare minimum two aura read negation perks to counter a full aura build. Gearhead is the only reason full aura still works.
Killer perks are not meant to be stronger because survivors have more in total. I've never heard the devs say anything like that.
Also, that's the craziest take you've ever heard? Have you spent any time on the forums?

Rule 1 of discussing DBD Balance, pretend Nurse does not exist
Nurse does not play DBD, she plays Nurse Simulator, Nurse Simulator is not DBD, and has absolutely zero baring on how DBD should be balanced
It's not my fault that perks don't have variations depending on the killer that's running them. Blame BHVR for the Nurse bottleneck.
-
The Unknown's mori is insensitive because it resembles Japanese pornography? Didn't expect to hear that analysis on a Sunday afternoon.
-
Distortion needs to be strong enough to counter the best killers running full aura builds. If it's not viable against a Nurse running aura reading then what's the point in the perk?

If that was true, tbag and BM would have never became an established and well-known part of multiplayer gaming terminology.
A survivor teabagging or a killer nodding is not "humiliating your opponent in every way possible". You have no clue what the mindset of your opponent is most of the time, so you have to guess. If you see a teabag or get nodded at, and assume that your opponent is trying to psychologically break you down, then your own perception is likely the problem. It's rarely that deep.

You reap what you sow.
Being a winner and humiliating your opponent in every way possible is all that matters to people playing any kind of multiplayer games. So, even if players started the game relatively friendly, they learned the rules the hard way.
No. Most people do not hold deranged views like that. You're definitely in the minority on that one.

Could happen, depending on the manner of their demise.
That's true. A bot would be useful in situations where a player disconnects for whatever reason.
-
I think something like this would work better as a game mechanic, rather than as a perk. It would be a great way to keep someone in the game, but it should only activate under specific conditions. So it's available for situations where someone gets tunneled out early in the match, but not available if the survivors have progressed the match beyond a certain point.
@JPLongstreet said:
Interesting idea, but what happens if the sacrificed surv leaves the trial? Does a bot take over when revived?
If it was a mechanic, people who died early would be more likely to stick around after death, knowing there was an opportunity to keep playing.
-
It looks awful. They completed destoyed the visuals and by extention the atmosphere.
It no longer looks like a neighborhood with so few houses left, and all the crap in the middle looks completely out of place. I hope they have another go at reworking it. With an emphasis placed on keeping the visuals as close to the original as possible.

That would be a good example of immersion breaking. As long as it's not stuff like that, I'm still for Emotes being in the game. Like the simple pointing and "Follow Me!" actions we currently have.
That's not just immersion breaking, that's game breaking. Those emotes are 360's on steroids. It's so funny lmao

Would have to be when I first started playing. I loved the horror aspect of the game. Not knowing anything about the killers and what the could do.
After I played a few matches I assumed all killers had a TR. Then I ran into a tier one Myers. It scared the crap out of me.
-
Rather than just tweaking his mori add-ons, I'd rather it became part of his basekit, and was made more fair. Something like:
- Make Myers fully stalk each survivor once to unlock mori ability.
- Give Myers info to track survivors who haven't been fully stalked yet (KI would be the best choice).
- Make it so Myers can't kill healthy survivors (this change would depend on how effective his new kit was in general).
- Increase the rate at which Myers gain stalk as gens are completed.
Myers struggles with map traversal, so will need a way to slow down survivor progress, seeing as his ability to kill off one player in about two minutes will be gone. I'm not so sure about this one, but it would fit him thematically:
- Survivors who have not been fully stalked or hooked yet are afflicted with a status effect that causes them to scream at regular intervals, have a reduced repair rate on gens and stumble after fast vaulting (this helps with Myers' early game, whilst not affecting survivors later in the match when Myers is much stronger).
I'm not sure how it would need to be tweaked, but his stealth/jump scare playstyles should be kept intact, so whatever changes would be necessary for that I'd be in favour of.
Most of this is poorly thought out, but I'd like to see a rework that makes him more interesting. His kit feels very dated now.

Give BHVR some time to look at the perk combo and decide whether it needs nerfing, and if so, find a suitable way to do it without creating useless perks in the process.
Why act like the perk combo should have already been destroyed by now? It's only been like a month or so since it launched. It's not broken, just really strong. Therefore it doesn't need to be gutted within the first few weeks.

All those alts seems to pop for either side too, though
Yeah, but the OP is talking about their observations of how killer players behave on here, so that's what I'm addressing. It is true that survivors also get banned and create new accounts.
-
Yeah, there's a bunch of kids on the forums who get offended if people are talking about any issues that don't affect them.
Most killer players on the forums are pretty reasonable. It just seems like the forum is killer sided, purely because these trash talking kids post whatever they want, get banned and create new accounts to keep running their mouths. They're not the majority, just loud with a fast respawn rate.

Finally killer players can experience the peak of fun, that up until now only survivors could enjoy. These include:
Bad Matchmaking - 4.5 hours Timmy w/ 9000 hours Super Chad.
Betrayal - Killers bodyblocking killers out of spite.
You're On Your Own - Teammate goes AFK or disconnects.
No Info - There's no perk HUD in the pre-game lobby, so good luck coordinating your perks in solo queue.
-
I wonder if they plan on reworking the rework, or just sticking with this version.
-
Pebble - Add C4 to it.
-
You can't call other people losers when you're the one having a hysterical meltdown over a computer game.

I hope the changes are more than just making Freddy stronger. Making pallets and snares basekit isn't enough to make him fun to play.
I want a Freddy where it takes him longer to get survivors into the dream world. But when he does, he can insta-kill survivors, similar to Myer's Tombstone Piece. He might end up similar to Sadako, but it would be accurate to his lore.

A name change isnt enough for that, each account have an unique id.
So unless hackers can get your unique id and some how spoof it, then i cant see this as possible.
Maybe it was a mistake on BHVR's part? I could not comment on how far hacks go. But Choy doesn't tend to give out bad information, so I'm inclined to believe what he reports, as he tends to do his due diligence.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
That people claim that they did nothing does not mean that they really did nothing.
In the video released by Choy, a player changed their name to impersonate a streamer, and BHVR banned the streamer instead of the account impersonating them. At the end of a video he talks about a cheater that stole a streamer's overlay to impersonate them. That person is currently still banned.
Even if a minority of people complaining are actually victims, the fact that BHVR would issue bans like that without doing any checks is terrifying. A social media campaign saved the first dude's account, but anyone without a social media following would be completely screwed.

If your build is built around aura reading, one single perk actually just makes you perkless. What killer perk can do the same with whole survivor builds?
Survivors also can't put killers into the dying state. The two roles are completely different. There doesn't need to be parity between the two. I'm down for discussions on perks, but it shouldn't be based on what the other side has.
As far a killer goes, Lightborn shuts down all blinding builds and certain killers make healing either impossible or counter-productive. So it's not completely unheard of.
