I agree that the tutorial system could (and should) really be expanded, but the problem is that DBD has so much vital but situational/niche content that would need to be covered that finding a starting point would be a challenge.
I actually think some of the stuff mentioned here (like don't hang out around/crash the hook, etc.) probably should be left as something players figure out organically. Or included as tips on the loading screens. There's just so much you could add there it would almost be never ending.
Where I think the most need is (and the most daunting) is killer specific tutorial. Like basics on both how to play as them, and what to expect when facing them. There are just so many killers and so many powers that it must be overwhelming as a new player. And frustrating when you get a new player as a teammate and it is clear they don't know how the killer you're facing works. Then you get frustrated with them when it's not really their fault.
And that curve is only getting steeper with each killer release.
Also, a primer on how to read the HUD, status effects, and what all the icons mean. And then you have perks, and what a task that would be.
And then of course there is the truly vital info, like how to moonwalk with a controller.
But seriously, I think this is an area where BHVR has been bailed out by content creators effectively doing their job for them.

I actually thought this too.
They release him OP so all the killer mains will buy him and then nerf him after they've made their sales. I've been wondering if that's been happening.
To be fair, the last few killers released strong and remained very strong after they were changed. I don't think releasing killers OP and then nerfing them into the ground is a thing.
Kaneki will be nerfed, but not into the ground. He'll still be plenty strong, imo.

If they want to salvage this Killer's reputation, then turning her into 5-Victor Twins with a Ph.D in 3-genning, camping, slugging and camping slugs is quite probably the worst possible way of doing it.
Regardless of my personal feelings about the Killer herself, the rework proposed by BHVR is a laughable failure and anyone who's played as much Twins as me, with all the issues that Killer has, will recognise that. Hell, BHVR themselves in the above post acknowledged these would be issues they're trying to address… we'll see if they manage to address those issues though. If removing the ability to camp and slug from a kit was as easy as that post suggests, then they'd have done it to Twins already.
This rework is a complete joke, a waste of development time on a conceptual level, and if they want to save the Killer's reputation long term it'd be a better use of that time to improve what we already have than it would be to unleash the horrors of 5 Victor Slugging Chess Merchant onto the game.
Don't get me wrong, I am not in love with the proposed rework (as it has been presented thus far) by any means. What I do appreciate is the willingness to make bold, sweeping changes to a killer of the the sort that they have been unwilling to make before. To admit a failure and take it back to the drawing board rather than re-shuffle the deck chairs on a doomed ship. I didn't think they had it in them, and that SM would simply rot on the island of misfit killers.
But as we sit here today, I think two things are almost certainly true:
- Old Skull Merchant is dead. I think the odds of a reversion of any sort are essentially nil.
- For there to be a future for the character at all, the changes made must be wholly transformative (i.e. an essentially new power altogether).
I just think our energies on this subject would best be spent helping shape the "new" killer to come rather than trying to will a refined iteration of the old SM into existence. Fortunately, it seems we're well away from a finished product here and there is time to influence the shape of the changes, if not the general course of the process.
And I also believe that BHVR likely see this as a low risk (and potentially high reward) move. Even if this rework ends up an abject failure, the killer's fate will functionally be the same as if they had left her as she was; hated and/or abandoned.

Reddit is an echo chamber of morons that don't know what they are talking about.
That 51% statistic is worthless because it lacks one key context: ANYTHING would have been met with majority (no matter how small of a majority it was) approval because it wasn't Skull Merchant anymore. They aren't interested in making her healthy or viable or even usable. They just want her gone. And the fact BHVR is bending so far backwards for these people is honestly disgusting.
Also, the fact people keep bringing up Sadako as being fine now is laughable. She's in a pretty terrible state at the moment, even ignoring that her Demanifest power is STILL bugged and not working properly.
To be fair, if they just wanted her gone, they'd leave her as she is now. And I doubt they really want any killers gone, because they don't make money that way.
I honestly feel for those who main(ed) her and invested a ton of time mastering her kit, but the thing some people seem unwilling to see is how universally and apocalyptically despised she was/is. You simply can't say "well, they did this for X killer, why won't they do it for SM?" as if everything else is equal. SM is not Billy, SM is not Onryo. SM is her own whole own phenomenon.
Skull Merchant has been an historically and singularly reviled killer, on a level not comparable to any other I can recall. Why that is the case is may not be wholly rational, but it's largely irrelevant. It just is what it is.
And I think that logically speaking, keeping her as she was or reverting her makes a lot less business sense. The fact of the matter is that the SM main community is tiny compared to the community at large, and this is a business above all else. They not going to bend over backwards to placate the like five Skull Merchant mains, even if one of them is outspoken and has a notable YT channel.
Dead killers don't make money, and they've already got at least one killer who is effectively dead (Twins) and a few who are close to it, and I am guessing the don't want more. This is a salvage operation, and wholesale change was the only real path forward to a future with her in it.
And if nothing else, I'm actually encouraged that they're willing to essentially remake a killer. I think their hesitation to do so has doomed other killers. And she may yet be doomed, but I applaud the effort if not the details.

We’ve all had rough games but have you ever had matches where you couldn’t get a single hook? It’s probably a rare occurrence but I’m just asking out of curiosity.
At least once that I can clearly remember because it was so memorable (it was an insane SWF that had two names I recalled from comp videos, which is super rare in public matches). It was a couple of years ago now, but the sort of savage beating that really stands out in memory.
And I feel like there were a couple no hook losses I took when I hit that first real difficulty bump when you reach the soft cap and get thrown in the deeper end of the MMR pool, but that was years ago now. My memory is pretty hazy there.
It's been a good long while, but it has happened.
-
I haven't played a ton of Ghoul yet, but the worst map I've played on was Borgo/Shattered Square. Just a lot of junk to get caught up on. I still won there, but it was a lot shower going than the other maps I played on.
-
I play strictly solo queue and according to my mental math I escape about 33-35% of the time (via the gates), which was supported by the numbers BHVR gave us earlier (for what those are worth).
The thing about it is that it is so often a game of streaks, and when you're in a bad one it can really feel like you never escape. Especially if you have such a bad run that you get dragged down to lower MMR, which just compounds things.
I've lost 10-12 in a row, sure. But I've also escaped 7-8 times in a row multiple times. Solo queue is just a roller coaster.
-
I just had this happen when I was playing as Nemesis (on PS5), had no idea what was going on until I searched up this post. Definitely going to switch my add-ons, lol

Sounds like survivor mains wanna win easily and can’t handle the pressure of tunneling. Try killer for once and maybe you’ll see why people tunnel. It’s called applying pressure. Y’all have perks that can counter tunneling and y’all still refuse to use them sounds like a skill issue.
I've played thousands of hours of killer. The fact is that like 90% of the time it just isn't necessary to win.
And yet some (not most, thankfully) killer players do it every single match and attempt to justify it with the myth that every other game is against a tough four man SWF. The reality is that most matches feature solo queue players of mixed MMR, and you can win consistently simply by spreading pressure and macro gameplay.
Though it depends on the killer you're playing, generally speaking not being able to spread pressure is a lot more of a skill issue than not being able to escape being tunneled.

Full transparency— I don’t actually think tunneling is ever fun, regardless of its success in winning. I’m a SoloQ main so I will never tunnel in my killer games because I know what it does and how it feels. But after speaking with some people who do find it fun, it’s often because of the pressure it provides. Not many enjoy doing it for the sake of doing it, though there are outliers i’m sure. I feel most people acknowledge tunneling is very unfun, but some believe it’s a necessary evil because of the pressure it provides. I was just trying to give a somewhat logical reasoning to the OPs question, not necessarily defend it. The game would be much healthier without it for both killers and survivors.
I get that, and I do think a tunnel can be fun, but only in a really narrow set of circumstances; like the game is on the line (so not right off the bat with the first surv you find) and the team you're playing is really good. Like you have to get someone out right then or you're going to lose. And you're going to have to work for it. Then the pressure is mutual.
Otherwise it's just punishing some player in a game you were probably going to win anyway. And since I also play a lot of surv, I don't want to do that to people unless I have to. And since you can't know how strong your opponent is going in (at least in public matches), I never start a game with a tunnel.
And I fully recognize that you will lose a game here or there by not tunneling early, but that's okay with me. I just don't get the massive aversion people have to losing a match here or there. I'd rather lose the occasional match than just dogwalk everyone, and the rush of playing from behind is more fun than trying to eliminate the risk of losing by playing like a robot.
-
@hermitkermit said:
Anti-tunnel changes are coming soon, so just hold out a little while longer. Tunneling is fun from the killer perspective because it's a quick way to win, and many have fun mostly when they win.
I don't think it's fun at all. It makes winning easier, but it also makes winning boring.
@Blueberry said:
Actual tunneling I see very rarely. What I see very, very commonly is people “saying” the killer tunneled when they really didn’t. I find people tend to have a ridiculously broad definition of tunneling. Like if they go down twice in a row regardless of anything, they’re calling it tunneling. Like even when I play killer I intentionally don’t pay attention to hook states since I try not to tunnel and I still get called a tunneler quite often. People just throw the word around to take accountability off themselves in my experience. Similarly in line with the amount of swf groups that call “stream sniper” on basically any game they lose.
Yeah, pretty much all of this. People throw out the term "tunneling" so often it almost has no meaning anymore.

I still think he needs to be toned down a bit, but I have to say the more I play against him the less OP he feels.

honestly this speaks to how weak the other killers are. i'd rather the lower caste of killers get buffed up rather than bhvr busting out the nerf bat whenever survivors complain
The thing is that would be a much bigger task. I don't think they should be nuked (though there is no good way to nerf the Nurse without giving her the SM treatment, imo), but it is much easier to adjust a handful of killers down than buff like 25 others to be closer to them.
But ideally, it'd be an effort to uplift the C/D tier killers and tone down the S-tier killers so we have a narrower strength band. I don't think the extremes are healthy for the game.
-
Yeah, people are utterly sick of him just like SM.
Unlike SM, his power isn't fundamentally broken, so I think he can come back from this once he is adjusted. I remember having a similar feeling about Wesker back when he dropped.

@BrightWolf said:
Ghoul has counterplay, LoS and tight efficiant looping is his main weakness. He is also incredibly hampered by indoor maps and maps with a lot of clutter to get stuck on while tryin gto launch himself during chase.
Hot take, but honestly I'm glad Kaneki is in the game. Because he's a reminder that not every killer can, or should be countered with just shift+w and chase perks and that people need to relearn how to loop. Instead of just holding W to the next pallet.
I actually agree (to a point). He does need to be toned down for sure, but the core of a really good killer is there. We've seen fundamentally broken killers before, but I don't believe this is one.
I think with a fairly light touch Kaneki can be made fair but left strong and fun. We've started to see good surv players adjusting to him already, even in his current state. I don't want to see him unnecessarily burned to the ground just because so many (myself included) are really over facing him right now.
I'd prefer there weren't S-Tier killers (well, such variance in killer power generally) but since S-Tier is a thing, I'd rather there be some variety, and not just Nurse and Blight. I like variety, and Kaneki is something different. I hope he is rightly adjusted but isn't nuked.
-
He does have counterplay, but he's very strong. I think his strength is his mobility, spreading pressure (and chaos), and keeping survs injured and less his lethality in 1v1.
I just started playing as the Ghoul today (to get the adept before a potential nerf, lol) and 4K'd my fist few matches with multiple gens remaining. Yes, that was with slightly lower "new killer" MMR, but I also had no feel for the killer beyond what I gleaned from playing like 100 matches against him.

Hot take:
BHVR should give up on this version of Haddonfield entirely, go back to the first versions of the map, and start over.
That map was not only much better aesthetic wise with the old lighting and the much smaller road, but layout wise, it would be more workable than the current variant.
Go back, remove the ludicrously long fences and infinites, make it so there aren't too many OP tiles, keep the old lighting but add the new textures, and you're golden.
That is a searing hot take, imo. In addition to being unbalanced, the old version was hideous and graphically dated. It looked like it was rendered for a 2007 game.
I'll agree that the road is way too wide, and there are now dead spaces where there were houses (but the latter happened after the big overhaul), but it looks so much better than OG version.
The layout needs adjustment, but the aesthetic is a dramatic improvement over the old version. I cringe whenever I see old clips. If one takes off their nostalgia glasses, it's really hard to look at.
Frankly, I thought it was in decent shape right after the overhaul (the wide ass road not withstanding). It was the last update that really broke the map's balance, and I have no idea why they did it.
Put houses back in the dead zones, narrow the road, close some of the walls, and open up some of the windows and we're good, imo.
-
It was just as "unplayable" for killer (if not worse) for years and they left it that way, so I'm guessing it's not a huge priority.
Hell, at this point I wonder if it's not intentional after it being absurdly broken in favor of survs for so long.
Of course something at least approximating balance would be nice, but that's not how BHVR rolls.

Ghoul’s grab attack is a hitscan attack, so there shouldn’t ever be a scenario where the server acknowledges the grab attack, but then cancels it because a wall is in the way. That would mean the server validation messed up, and is coded wrong. The most balanced change would be to fix the server validation, so it checks if a survivor is behind an object, and if so, then the grab animation doesn’t start.
I mean sure, but what confidence do we have that they can or would fix server validation? I've been getting hit when at least mostly behind a wall by Wesker grabs and Huntress hatchets for years now.

Thats pr good actually, when you say reducing the grapple range to survivors, is this in regards to grab attacks and initial leaps? That could be really healthy for avoiding getting hit quickly, but it still gives the killer fast, non reactable movement. I say, we keep that shorter attack range you mentioned and also reduce the killer's leap speed and slide speed, with their durations increasing so they still get the mobility people crave
Yeah, I mean the range of any leap that grabs on a surv would be reduced by half. But grappling onto the environment would be left pretty close to that it is currently.
That way the absurdity of being grabbed or injured from like 30 meters would be largely removed (especially in conjunction with halving the hitbox), but he would still retain the fun and fast "web-slinging" map traversal.
And to me that makes more "real world" sense (for what that's worth in this game, lol), as pulling on, say, a building, wall, or boulder with enough force to grapple 20+ meters would work, while not so much for a person. You should have to be closer. I mean the physics of that are still fantastical, but it wouldn't be so absurd.
I just think there's a way to keep him fun and strong without nuking him. The core power is fine, the numbers just need tweaking.
-
I would leave reduce the leap speed nerf from 5m/s to 2.5m/s (so 12.5)
I totally agree with reducing the lock-on detection range by at least half, maybe more. It needs to stay, but not in its current absurd state.
I disagree with the rest to varying degrees.
I would add reducing the range of the leap (when grappling to a survivor only) by 40-50%. I would leave the leap when grappling to objects (for traversal) largely alone. That's a big part of what make him fun.
I would limit the infliction of deep wounds to leap attacks only when enraged
So if we drastically cut down the auto aim and halve the distance at which he can leap to a survivor, I feel like that would greatly reduce the around/through objects hits and hits from obscene distances. I think those two changes are the most important, and would make him feel a lot more fair.
And the deep wounds on every kagune leap hit is too much. Limiting that to enraged mode hits makes more sense. Or even remove the deep wounds altogether.
I think he can be nerfed to a place that makes him feel fair without relegating him to B/C tier; I think having another A/S tier killer who isn't Blight/Nurse/Billy/Wesker would be a good thing long term, even if it's hard to see that in this moment where we're all just sick to death of him.

I asked if people thought it was worth addressing. Were they intended to be extra Dead Hards in chase? If not, that would be abuse.
Styptic seems intended to counter interrupted heals. Syringe being passive is the draw. Stacking it with abdominal and botany or whatever makes it closer to instant than passive.Do I think a syringe was designed to be used when there isn't time to perform a regular heal (i.e. just before or in the early stages of a chase)? Or that a styptic was designed to be used when a hit was incoming (which would almost certainly be in chase)? Absolutely. Obviously.
I wouldn't argue that it's a healthy thing, but I definitely think that was the intent.
-
Using the item as intended isn't "abuse". If you want to seem them nerfed just say that (it's a fair position), trying to frame it as abuse is silly.
And pausing to use it mid chase isn't risk free as it is, at least in the case of the syringe.

Nerf:

STOP BABYING THESE KILLERS AND LET THEM FEEL THE PAIN OF MISSING A SHOT DUE TO A BAD AIM. If this game had ranks, you all would be stuck hard copper BET, and people want to talk about "skill ceilings" on killers when the skill ceiling is on the floor! HA! No.
- No one asked for it
- Auto aim (and aim dressing) in this game hurts better players more than it helps
- I'm pretty sure almost everyone here has played an FPS before
-
I don't think he'll get hammered, but I expect we'll see the obvious nerfs to the hitbox and range of the leap, and they'll be significant (like 50%). And increased cooldown.
But even after he is adjusted I expect he'll still be a solidly high A-tier killer, which would be just fine.
-
I'm of split mind on this idea. On the one hand, people just bought the killer and will want to play them, of course. Trying to persuade someone not to play with the shiny new toy they just got probably isn't going to be effective.
On the other, if they just offering a bonus where there wouldn't otherwise be one at all probably wouldn't hurt. it probably wouldn't help much (if at all), though.
I'd rather just see a bigger incentive to play survivor, like the 400% from 2v8. I know it wouldn't change a ton, but I know I am playing surv right now even though I bought the Kaneki (and the Rize skin) because it allows me to stock him up without contributing to the Ghoul-jam on the killer side. And that's mostly due to the 150% BP incentive.
Such an incentive to play other killers would probably draw some killer mains to play them instead, but it wouldn't help with the other byproduct of new killer saturation, which are the killer queue times.
-
@TieBreaker said:
His core power isn't going to get reworked, so if you enjoy web slinging then you'll be fine even if he gets nerfed. If you like getting hits through walls, then I'd hold off. As that part is unlikely to stay.
This. He's almost certainly going to be nerfed, but I don't know that it'll be that severe. And as you say, the core dynamics of his gameplay almost certainly aren't going to change. I imagine they'll tweak his hitbox, some of the add-ons, and some of the numbers, but I'd be surprised if it's more than that.
If OP is drawn to Kaneki because of the slinging around, etc. and not his overall strength, they should just go ahead imo.
-
It's fine with me, I like to pour BP into new killers before I play them so I have a nice stockpile of items when I start. I'm happy to play surv and take advantage of the bonus until the novelty wears off. I'll play a ton of the Ghoul, but will wait until the madness passes.

Yeah, tons of aura reading for sure, but I swear almost every one I've seen has been running infectious fright.*
Expected to see people experimenting, but not much variety in builds at all. They must all be watching the same content creators, lol
*To be clear I'm exaggerating a bit, but I'd say an easy 8 of 10 Ghouls I've faced were running it.
-
Has anyone seen a Ghoul who wasn't running Infectious Fright?
-
I think generally speaking Lights Out just isn't that popular, and they probably want to tweak 2v8 again before the next iteration. Chaos Shuffle is just easier to implement, I think.
-
My experience thus far has been mixed. Currently only playing surv and funneling the BPS into Kaneki, and escaping about 1/3 of the time. All solo games.
Games varying from fun to getting absolutely pantsed. Most of the escapes were against players who didn't seem to have a mechanical feel for him at all. Players that seem to have a handle on him (I assume many played in the PTB) have been borderline oppressive.
Personally, I have dealt with most of them pretty well (relatively speaking). It's definitely not a situation where I get hit with his power every time. Other than a few, I have been able to make them miss pretty consistently. But those few…they're hard to deal with.
And yeah, some "how the hell?" hits for sure, but no worse than what I've experienced at the hands of Wesker or Huntress.
That said, I'm going to wait until the player base gets more adjustment time. It's a fairly unique power.

But she has the fountains to fix it which is balanced counter play unlike this killer. I care not who gets mad but am going to stay healthy vs her specially if they have thana and I just can't take the disgusting coughing and throwing up, ty god I do not have eating disorders. Those who talk about the red vomit just simpy need to stun her or juke it which her power hit box is so clunky.
That "balanced counterplay" also jacks up her lethality.
I appreciate your aversion to the puking, but unless your whole team is also cleansing, it's a recipe for disaster against a good Plague. And "simply" stunning or juking her when she's in her power is far easier said than done unless her player is a potato.
The majority of good surv players will stay sick and broken for the whole match, at least until the very end. And Plague matches are very winnable even with the whole team remaining injured.

If tunneling is such an effective strategy, that you are unable to counter it, and you lose the game every time, then wouldn't killers be foolish for not employing such a strong strategy?
To flip it on its head. Survivors are now running syringes all the time and still running the same meta perks every game. I don't blame the survivors for doing that, i blame the devs for allowing things like that to exist.
The only person you should be blaming for anything is the devs. Stop blaming players for playing the game just because they do something you don't like, and start blaming the developers for allowing those things to exist.
Yes, the devs are ultimately to blame, but at this point we have to know they have no intention of really fixing it. At this juncture, whether or not a killer hard tunnels or whether or not a surv player is willing the accept that they might be tunneled in any given match is a player issue.
If a killer player wants to tunnel every match like clockwork, they should just own that winning in and of itself is more important to them than how they win. Saying "well BHVR allows it, so what do you expect me to do?" does not absolve a player of playing like a sociopath all the time.
Not that absolution is necessary, it people want to play like that, it is clearly allowed. But that doesn't make a 10K hour killer who just hard tunneled in match against potatoes any less of a dick. Likewise, if I were to use everything in my power within the boundaries of the law to generally succeed irl, I'd be more financially prosperous but probably wouldn't have any real friends.
We have agency here, we don't have to take the path of least resistance every time.
And thankfully, most don't, as hard tunneling is more of an intermittent issue than a regular thing.

Legion is a bad killer, and always will be unless they give them an entirely new power.
They're fun to play, but there is no path to being a higher tier killer and/or viable against good competition that doesn't involve a total overhaul. Kind of for the same reasons the Nurse can't be meaningfully nerfed, Legion can't be meaningfully buffed. Their powers are fundamentally flawed and essentially re-creating them would be the only real fix.
But unless the goal is to balance the entire killer roster, I don't think it's necessary. Legion is fine as a fun but weak killer.

Yeah, because I'm a good consumer slave and buy every DLC on day one (mostly because I can's stand not having access to perks).
But in this case I am actually looking forward to it; something seeming a bit different is welcome. And I am a fan of the IP. The first season, anyway.

Sometimes, the system is decent because it kinda shows who posts some…poor takes. It can also be objectively funny.
On the other hand, I'd rather encourage discussion rather than one-click meaningless interactions. Perhaps both upvotes and downvotes should go.
Yeah, I think that unfortunately a downvote is most often used in place of actually saying something, which I don't think is a constructive path to go down. It stifles actual discourse.
And I'd bet some people will downvote a post that they wouldn't want to publicly argue against. It's a way of being divisive without taking any ownership of your position.
I think it should go, but if it BHVR wants to keep it, they should show who cast the vote (up or down), like so many other forums do.

I've played every character at least once, so we're too late for that. And while there are probably no characters I'll never play again, there are characters I'll only play for a tome/daily, and only if I can't trash can that challenge.
These are:
- Nurse - I like playing DBD, and Nurse is playing something else
- Unknown - Gives me the ick. Can't say why, just does
- Ace - I hate his stupid, smug face. I am not a violent person, but I wish I could punch him
- Hag - I just hate her kit and playstyles
That's about it. Skull Merchant would be on the list, But I can't say I won't play her until I see the final product.

It sucks humans are dirty, disgusting things behind a screen, but fact remains they are. Kids nowadays have learned this, much younger than when I was a kid. This means they get it. If someone tells you to off yourself, and you get pissed, nice work giving them agency in your life. You need to ignore waste-of-space humans and don't let it trigger you.
Regardless, permanent IP ban is ridiculous, and unenforceable. If someone wants to be upset about that kind of talk, then they can send in a screenshot/movie/morse code to BHVR instead of coming to a forum to complain.

You are assuming FAR too much. I understand why he's pissed. He can totally be pissed. Nothing I said was false, was it? Might be viewed as callous, but thats fine. As long as the idea I was trying to deliver is understood.
I don't mind that, as I am in the healthcare biz and get talked down to all the time by people 'who know better'. These forums are no different.

Of course. I agree. Its not acceptable at all.
Does that mean it'll stop? No. Should you engage with such toxicity? No. What should you do? Ignore it.
If you disagree with one or more of those, I'd love to discuss and perhaps, perhaps change my perspective.
I really can’t stand this double standard people seem to have about what happens online vs what happens in real life. Is it really that difficult not to be a total arsehole to people over a ######### video game? Some of you need to touch grass and really evaluate your life choices.
I agree. Double standards suck. Glad there's none here. I dont know what you're talking about with this, apologies. Screen or no screen, I'd say what I said because its good advice imo.
It's not the least bit ridiculous for someone to be permanently banned (we'll make it a hardware ban) for saying they hope someone get s cancer. Or for using slurs. Or telling someone to off themselves. It's easily identifiable and inexcusable behavior. And it's not an "oops, I just slipped up" thing, either. No one slipped and landed on their keyboard and it spat out a personal attack like that.
Yes, people are often scummy and you can't change that, but BHVR can choose to not allow them to be that type of scummy in their game. There are many people who have lost someone to cancer, or self-harm, who would be totally justified in taking such statements really hard. And none of us know beforehand who these people are.
Kids aren't choosing not to surrender their agency, they're becoming desensitized and inured, and there is a vital functional distinction there. And getting pissed or hurt by something isn't a choice anyone makes. How you process and externalize that emotion is. Reaction is not the same as response.
Having a tantrum over what was said would be giving up your agency. Being hurt by what was said isn't. No one decides that they "want" to be upset by something.
A healthy reaction and response would be to be bothered on some level by it, but simply report and move on. And a ban would be a reasonable outcome.
I know some people feel like just venting their reactionary emotional garbage in spaces like this should be normalized and allowed (maybe because they can't get away with it irl), but it's not a huge ask of people consider what they say just a bit. We should want to be better than just hand waving this crap off.

Thankfully my son laughed it off but what If he didn't?
Then he'd be like you, unable to understand he's on the internet. Your son is leagues ahead of you in the social sphere of the world. Be happy. He's also playing a game about murdering other people. How mad can you really get about any of this?
Setting aside whether or not the OP is legit, telling someone you hope the get cancer isn't a hand wave, "well, you're on the internet" thing. Or it shouldn't be. If someone gets caught saying that they should get a permanent IP ban.
You never know who has cancer or lost someone to cancer. Accepting something like that as normal banter isn't being socially advanced, it's being socially stunted. At best.

Played a game last night and 3 survivors in a row all got off basement hook and all were on first hook.
All 3 jumped off hook in my face at different times so they definitely weren't saved by another survivor.
I had noticed the escape rate seemed high in previous games but 3 survivors in a row?
4% chance of escape my butt.
Bear in mind no previous hooks or saves as I was doing killer basement challenge?
Also not cheating as all eventually died on basement hook later in game.
I don't know enough about survivor perks but 3 in a row jumping off hook on 1st hook seems a bit much.
Am I missing something?
Based on you saying all three unhooked in your face it seems like you might have been camping, and if you were hanging out in or right around the basement, you would have triggered the anti-camp.

Hell no. I can only imagine you'd say such a hateful thing because you're too far removed from it and have forgotten.
OG Dead Hard stands alone at the summit of OP BS mountain. Lithe can be annoying as hell, but it pales in comparison to old DH.
