After playing some more, I am 100% convinced they loosened the skill based matchmaking.
-
My bad. I just like the hatch, bro. They finally made it a skill based mechanic. It is hard work waiting for my teammates to die.
-
Hackers are very nice individuals who just want to play the game as intended with a bit of an edge, please don't criticize our paying customers.
-
You know, it just puts powers on cooldown because the server decided that hit never happened. So radical.
-
Absolutely agree. I love boons as a solo player. Heck, I love them in my swf. It just makes life THAT much easier. I am not some survivor God that can loop for 5 gens. The time it takes to use the boon is game winning at my level of play because we aren't good enough to hammer gens and avoid a snowball.
-
Sure, why not? Unless I am on a challenge, in which case, see you in hell.

All your mentioned killers are free and good enough to have fun. Why would you buy others if u don't need them?
I personally play only 2 killers and I don't want anything else.
Um... To play as horror icons? To mix up the game play? To earn perks? Lots of reasons, really.
-
Survivors impress themselves when they drop a pallet, fam. Of course they would teabag if you let them win.
-
It depends on which loops they run to and how many pallets or if hit validation procs. As a general rule of thumb, if it takes 90 seconds, there was something wrong with the chase that made it unfun for me.
I want a sweet spot where the survivor is quite competent, but not completely optimized, where we are both taking risks to try and end chase.
-
The only killer main that actually dominated survivors was Pro Vengeance before he quit. I just prefer to watch people for their personalities now as nobody could compare to him, really. He got a 50 winstreak post mmr which none of these other cats have come close to.
-
You are correct, we should buff him.

I toggle between the two all the time. Solo Queue is not 50% as stressful as Killer.
Not even 10%.
Eh... Bad teammates tilt me a lot more than good survivors.
-
Oh, wow... I missed a lot of the boosted rate up Hawkins event because I was playing Halo. Feels bad. I knew I was forgetting SOMETHING.

Night is where the SWF comes out to play. At least in my experience, whenever I play this game at anytime except night it's always been easy 4Ks
Well... Night is when the queues are reasonable, so it makes no difference to me.
-
Are we talking about a recent nerf, or is this like some lingering complaint from months ago?
-
Absolutely, how dare you camp them? Killer mains are so BM it is ridiculous. That SWF was wrong unless you were tunneling them, which you probably were. But camping is still just as bad. You can be better, you just need to work at it.

This...is unprecedented.
Sluzzy has a good take.
I don't think all the cheaters will go away, but at the very least, the victims won't be forced to eat an undeserved penalty
We can now confirm that Sluzzy is not a hacker.

I thought if you're a killer you're not supposed to be a joke but a killer that hangs or murder survivors? Why the ######### can survivors do dumb ######### like teabagging at exit gates and have hit validation dead hards with a cocktail of obnoxious flashlights and 4 SWFs? And don't talk to me about the cheaters there's already too many of them to count.
I support killers face camping and especially if they use leatherface. Don't give up killers face camp the ######### outta these fools.
Oh, don't you worry one bit, I will face camp them for you, AceinaHole.
-
Amen, brother, any buff to the sacred Lightborn shall be rejoiced across the land.
-
Not really, no. I actually just abused a survivor who was using an exploit to troll me. On Dead Dawg Saloon, by the gallows, apparently they can walk up that cart somehow. I wasn't sure how to do it, so she was effectively invincible. I just baited them by pretending I cared, so they kept staying up there and leaving their team in a 3v1. After I killed them all, she had to leave, and once I downed her... She rage quit. I cannot imagine a queueing late for survivor into a game where you didn't play into a penalty into another queue. They wasted so much time to get under my skin, and unfortunately for them, I just didn't care...
-
Eh... Hard to tell with my sample size. I guess I will keep an eye on it, but as a general rule of thumb, in my experience, developers do a lot of behind the scenes tweaking to mmr systems. So it wouldn't surprise me in the least.
-
Well, technically no? I just got an Xbox for Halo Infinite, so I would probably just pay for Game Pass if I never played it on Playstation. Albeit, I did get it free for Playstation back in 2018 when it was on Plus. Glad I was thinking ahead. I would probably be hesitant to buy dlc killers on a game I didn't technically own, however. So they would have made less money and I would have been more likely to quit.

@Voodoo101 said:
There are a lot of reasons that people quit or you may think they quit.
- The epidemic of bad killers who camp. Anybody who actually wants to be able to play the game, but can't because they have been hooked and the killer won't, they just stand close to the hook and even if a player comes over injured they will just leave them to get one hook. If the survivor is solo queued, why should they sit on hook for a people they do not know. In the same vain you can add toxic players that camp thinking it is fun.
- The rage quiting survivor who quits because they believe their team of survivors are bad, maybe one or two have been downed before the first gen, or they have been downed and fear they will be tunnelled and camped, or just think they are out classed.
- The rage quitting killer, the one who is looped while gens are being done, maybe just having a bad game, or maybe the type of person who ends up camping if the get that lucky down, but they can't because the survivors are able to evade them (what a survivor is supposed to do). No chance of a kill, don't want to lose, DC and take the hit.
- They need to do something, maybe they feel ill, thought they could play but can't. Maybe they are young and their parents call them, or they have a family and end up having to leave.
- Hardware / Software problem. Lets be honest, the connection to the DBD servers is not great or the most secure. Add in the game network such as Steam or PSN and you add another layer to worry about. Then you have the ISP, network issues in some places can be bad. Then you have the hardware that it runs on, PC's freeze and crash.
- Cheats. The scourge of DBD.
"If the survivor is solo queued, why should they sit on hook for a people they do not know."
In that case, why bother helping in any regard for people you do not know? If you are that selfish, why not just queue for killer? What are you possibly getting out of survivor play? Dank QTEs?

@HawkAyeTheNoo said:
You see im all for a dc penalty, i think its needed and my only problem with it is the penalty times.
Banning people for long periods of time only sends them to play other games, surely you want people playing DBD.
A set 10-15min cooling off period would be fair for every dc imo instead of all the different banning times. 5mins is nothing while 30min, 6hrs or even days is to much. People go play other games, do they come back?
People who baby rage should go play something that fits them a bit better. The Carebears might be a good game to teach them the values of sportsmanship, and when they return, they will be much better DBD players.
-
I... Don't think that build makes them play like Twins. They could do the same thing perkless, bruh.
-
Just find the one with borrowed... And tunnel them first. Gg ez baby survivors!

Billy! Finding one is a rare treat. I also love playing against Myers; he's remained scary in a way that nothing else in this game has and I genuinely enjoy the threat of tombstones/the perpetual question of whether he's taking just a little too long to hit Tier 3. Oni's really fun too, and I am contractually obligated to love each and every Vommy Mommy I run across. Blight's fun if they're not running Tinkerer/Ruin/Undying, which turns tedious pretty quickly. And I actually enjoyed going against Deathslinger? Shame he's so much rarer after that completely overwrought nerf.
I want to say Pig, but none of them will let me boop the snoot lately, and Pigs are either memelords or scumbags with little in-between. :( Always baffles me when they put a trap on me and then hard tunnel for the rest of the game. I at least understand it when they're trying to force a headpop and harassing me away from the boxes, but either way, I seem to run into a lot of nasty playstyles on her. I'm definitely in for a lot of fun or frustration when I see her, one or the other.
I meme the scumbag way, if that makes sense. I just love her cute little pig squeals when I crush her snoot with a pallet. I also enjoy digging through boxes wondering, "first attempt?"
-
If we got any platform exclusive killer, it better be Sweet Tooth.
-
It is a wonder that killer players have the audacity to complain when the game favors them so much. I can 4k in my sleep and still be too tired to navigate the menus properly and accidentally queue for survivor where a sweaty killer will demolish us faster than killers pretend they are gen rushed. That wakes me up real fast.
-
My dream is to swf with Sluzzy. I want to experience his greatness in a lobby, just once. My life would be complete.
-
Oh, no, not another completed generator! What ever shall I do? I really cared about defending those which is why I face camped a survivor.
-
The problem is I am in that phase of grinding for bloodpoints and doing challenges in old tomes to unlock the charms. So I can't play how I want. But I would love to just play no hook Twins and bleed them out. I truly would. There is just too much grinding that needs to be done to support that habit.

I think it's a good idea to have a system like that in place but to say it's not expensive or shouldn't require much work is wrong. I know it's not even on their roadmap, and to develop a replay system can take years-- especially with their small programming team. If they were going to implement it, they should have announced it years ago.. and really, I don't think DBD has many solid years left in it. 2-3 maybe? So I don't see why they'd want to dedicate the manpower to see that endeavor through when they can pick smaller projects that more players can enjoy, like a better bloodweb or way of earning bloodpoints, a decent ranking and leaderboard system, a practice or better KYF mode with map seeds, etc.
Only 2 to 3? For a game that just peaked recently and doesn't have Jason in it yet? I am spamming x for doubt.
-
Nah, it would totally be broken. There is a reason it is m1 only, and Behavior knows best.
-
Survivors are more like back up dancers with all the twerking and strobe lights, but I wouldn't call them killers. Their most advanced technique they use in a fight is to drop a pallet while running. Pretty beta if you ask me.

In this case, then you will have to wait a VERY long time, because two chapters await us until January, one original and the second licensed.
I mean, me, personally? I love licensed killers. So you know, if that is what is happening, I actually prefer that. I just think it is weird.

@StefanBlaze said:
And I would like to see Ellen Ripley or Sarah Connor for the role of survivors. But unfortunately, not everything we want will come true. Someone just wants LGBT + characters. And someone want well-written characters who can be played
I mean... I think most people who want a LBGT character likely want them to be well written. Rofl.
-
Deathslinger, I guess? Pretty obscene what happened to him.
-
Ice Nine Kills. It is fun to use their theme song while stalking survivors with no audio queues. Myers with Stabbing in the Dark is lit af.
If I am just listening to music without a purpose, I use Doctor because he can help me find them without needing sound.
-
Yeah, kind of weird we do not have any LGBT representation on the entire roster. What are the odds?
-
Favorite: I love how he counters just about anything annoying the survivor can do.
Least Favorite: Survivors whine about him. I fear he will get nerfed every day. If it happens to Pig like every other patch, it could happen to him.

Nevermind It's still impossible to get merciless. When gens pop 30 seconds into the game even on Ash IV, there is not a single chance I can get it, especially with how some perks are absolutely trash for some killers. Funny thing is, I 4K'd with Myers on Ormond once with 3 gens still standing... That gatekeeping alone should have been iri... nope... gold emblem... robbed of my merciless just like that.
I stopped trying, getting merciless is just absolutely impossible on killers, it's an ass achievement... Revert it to 4K, that alone with current gen speed and the meta builds is very difficult to achieve.
The emblem system is so awful. The requirements are convoluted as hell and basically require survivor cooperation. 4K should be good enough for an adept. But whatever, I only cared about Leatherface, and I got it. So it really doesn't effect me too much. Still think it is designed poorly.
-
But if you think about it carefully, none of those are issues for survivor. So, you know, I would argue they aren't really even issues at all.

Their game will end naturally so they're not hostage. Its not more complicated than that.
Does it suck: yes
Is it held hostage: no
Should we work on fixing it: yes
Are you saying they are not being held hostage because they can suicide? That is pretty dark, Mr. Penguin.

Flashlights are one of the best items, which is why I routinely run into Iridescent ranked SWF squads running 2-3 flashlights.
I kind of noticed a lot of people have a hivemind in this community and content creators say flashlights are the worst item. But yeah, they are definitely one of the better items, especially after boons. People just get stuck in their ways and do not look at the context of the game as is, and not what it used to be.
Not that I mind too much as a lot of overpowered stuff I enjoy isn't even on their radar, thankfully.

No the issue is that you're trying to stretch the meaning onto other things that don't count. In DBD "holding the game/player hostage" is a reportable offense that has a specific definition, hence all the people saying that's not holding the game hostage. The survivors game will naturally eventually end, so its not holding the game hostage. Use a different term.
You aren't holding the game hostage, but you are quite literally holding the survivor hostage. Rofl. Like, you can't argue against that.
