Totems are harder to find than they've ever been. Maps have been reworked, totem appearance has been reworked, spawns are different, and with more indoor maps? Good luck finding totems on any of those indoor maps, even with perks to help you find them. Oh and Small Game? Nerfed.

Personally, I don't care about NOED. I think it's funny to see killers complain about Dead Hard being a second chance perk that rewards bad play and then defend NOED like their life depends on it.

People hate NOED because the perk is weaker than it's absolutely, utterly bullcrap "counterplay" that people legitimately love pretending exists and hate it when you point out that people play by themselves and have no way of sharing information and therefore no way to know how much time they are wasting, especially since they tied a totem counter to a perk.

And the perk itself is literally just a free kill to make killers feel better and not actually help do anything. So yeah, no wonder it's hated.

Yah it has no counter play. If only there was a way you can detect totems during the game before NOED activiates. A perk that lights up nearly every totem in its radius whenever a gen gets fixed, they should really make a perk like that. Or maybe an item with addons that could see totems in its radius, or even a perk that cleanses totems faster and shows you where the next one is. I hope that devs make something like that.

Indeed. I guess I'm just lucky that I typically run Doctor, and so I don't have to depend on Hexes as, well, say the Blight would (who I do not play for that very reason). There are some Killers who absolutely rely on at least a single hex perk to function in the way that they're intended to (like Hag), and it's really a low-blow given that hexes have such a myriad of problems on their horizon... that's not to say that you HAVE to run hexes on the Blight or Hag, or likewise Killers, but it is certainly how you are MEANT to play them... this all comes down to BHVR's inability to hear the community, anyway.

I main Trapper lol a killer who benefits from it but meh I just don't use it lol

Exactamundo. Totems are, by far and wide, the most easy-to-counter aspect of Dead by Daylight to date. Partly (or possibly even majority of) the reason why I don't run Hex perks -- they're just so pointless when all it takes is a 10-20 second cleansing period. Sure, I'd love to be able to run Devour Hope on a Killer or play NOED for reasons other than to camp and kill Survivors last minute, but my God there is no legitimate circumstance where running a Hex is permissible. I'd argue that hexes are the flimsiest flaw in this game at this current time, and the more and more I see people complaining about this one and this other one... it just convinces me that this community will argue about anything. What's next? Insidious is OP somehow?

Thats how I feel about totem perks and honestly totems are always right there, I have spawned right in front of ruin or devour hope too many times to count and it came to the point where you kinda need undying to get any value from totem perks. When I played killer I thought the same way as you its a waste of a slot because 80% of the time they are cleansed at the get go lol

    I don't get this mindset.

Tunneling, when done tactically (IE: Not to ruin someone's fun) is a way to slow down gen speeds via removing someone from the match.

People complaining about it is like Killer's saying 'Stop genrushing! If you see an 80% completed gen; go do a 0% gen! Give the Kilelr time to play!'

It's just doing your goal efficiently as possible, both sides.

Game starts, you find one survivor, hook him/her and a gen pops. You walk away and a survivor unhooks, you go back and see the fully healed survivor and ignore them and just run around the map looking for the one who was just unhooked. Why? That's what I don't get. Like 4 gens need to get fixed and you are tunneling actively ignoring everybody in your LoS? Why? It'd be different if its like 1 or 2 gens are left or the gates are opened cool thats tactical I understand that, I'm all for that. Even then personally I'd just knock him down again and slug them.

  • Oh look there are bones....nah I'll ignore them.

Okay get punished for being lazy lol it doesn't take long to do bones nor are they ever really that hard to find (2/100 times they are legit impossible to see tho) lol

  • I mean to me if you need to tunnel it just shows you are kinda bad at playing killer? I know play to win blah blah who cares about survivors fun or who cares about killer's fun, DBD us vs them mentality. But as somebody who plays both I just never understood the want to tunnel somebody. You aren't going to get good in the long run by just tunneling, same as camping. So what you lose a few games but at least you can learn and get better. That's just my thoughts. I'd rather lose than to tunnel....well unless they are just being toxic to you for no reason then camp and tunnel all you want lol

  • Use franklins, its more fun xD

  • @GeneralV said:

A recycled event, which at the very beginning barely even worked, paired with toxic players.

    What could go wrong?

Agreed but damn Idk why I had high expectations from the community after we all get crapped on from devs >_>

  • @EntitySpawn said:

Had hardly any games with all cakes, get 3 at most, but seen many killers camp but they will full in slug everyone with a dc at the start of the game. And survivors dc like mad. But yeah pretty crappy event as usual, times like this I wish I did 4 man swf

i do 4 man swf sometimes but even when we aren't trying to win or be sweaty 60% of the killers legit just hardcore tunnel, had a Wraith last night who hooked one of my friends, i unhooked him, surprise Wraith was around corner camping, and he just cut past me and my two other friends to go straight to him again, like 4 games in a row one of us just got tunneled for zero reason we just got bored of it and got off

  • Sounds like ur just bad. Stop crying for nerfs when its obvious ur just not that good.

  • Strategy. To win. It might not be the most fun to go against. I hate being tunneled, but its a strategy. A killer is a killer. They aren't our best friends or our parents trying to hold out hands. It may not be fun but hey they want to win or want a challenge done just as bad as you do. As a survivor main myself I don't see the big deal about a killer tunneling, you lose to it you move on.

Why do killers have to play to make it enjoyable for the survivors? When they do they get mocked "oh baby killer small pp killer cuz you have (enter any killer perk here) meanwhile 80% of survivors run pretty much the same build or small variants of it (you know what build i am talking about to). You may be after adept but how is the killer supposed to know that?

How many times I watch end game chat as survivor and see other survivors yelling at the killer for every little thing they do. Like the post on here calling NOED too strong because 3 survivors were dead and hatch was closed and he got downed by noed. "Oh i only lost cuz noed" no you were going to lose anyway.

Survivors love running second chance perks right? Survivors love to do their anything to win strategy , so why is it bad for the killer to do the same thing?

  • Dang, if only there was a way to get rid of NOED.

If only it had a counter to it.

You know they should really add something in this game that gets rid of noed and not even giving it a chance to be used. But what could we do as survivors to avoid noed? What...could....we....do....

  • I can only speak for myself but because its annoying for me and the other survivors. I enjoy playing the game i enjoy the chases i enjoy having fun in the game. To me somebody so mad for whatever reason that the need to kill themself on hook it isn't about having a free win its about having somebody who is so salty that they have to ruin the game for 4 other people.

  • I play survivor mostly and I've got to say while I hate being camped or tunneled, if you have to do it then just do it. Most survivors demand killers to play a certain way "oh you can't do this or use that or use this killer cuz I don't like it" but screw them. The game isn't just about the survivors, its too easy to win as a survivor anyway so as far as people critiquing your game play at the end game, its hard but just ignore them. You shouldn't worry if they don't like what you did, after all you're a killer you aren't there to be friends especially since most survivors enter the game with the mindset of bullying killer regardless of how they play.

As for having a sense of shame when you don't win a match, tbh I feel the same way but I just suck it up, learn from my mistakes and move on. Don't let it get too you, there are way bigger things to be worried about than a DBD match :)

  • This surprises you? I've learned to expect the lowest of lows when talking about the DBD team.

  • @sotd_coauthor said:

True, I think there at least should be an option to keep the old one of you prefer to use it. The portraits of the different survivors is nice though, I think that should maybe be a permanent change but hey, that's probably wishful thinking

I like the portraits that is a welcomed change but everything else is just uneeded. It would be great if we could chose though

Not to sound mean as I do quite like the members of BHVr I've seen on dev streams or from talking to in chat of their personal streams, they're all nice people and clearly care about the game a lot. But a lot of the balance changes and event changes in the last year or so have been bizarre.

I thought 2019 was the best year for DBD by far, great new content, good balance changes, fun events. But 2020 has sucked.

They brought back exclusive cosmetics after saying they wouldn't. They nickle and dimed the ######### out of players for eternal blight. BLight was the only killer from this year that was fun for both sides. PH was incredibly uninspired power wise and despite being an SH fanboy I think Midwich is the worst map ever added to DBD.

    And on the balance side-

Stuff like the reasoning for not changing OoO or nerfing/reworking slowdown perks to be less "oppressive" but not actually looking at the reason why so many players use them really shakes my faith in them. The pathetic change to PHs 50/50 that didn't fix any of the problems with him being insanely boring to face. Deathslingers entire 1v1 in general.

    And in regards to Survivor-

Sure, people die a lot with OoO. But it makes the match utterly miserable and unfair for the killer and it almost exclusively used in SWF comm parties to troll the killer.

Nerfing Pop because players could "do too much and still have it active" meanwhile DS is still the problem child of DBD.

I hate the "Us VS them" mentality of killers vs survivors on here. I try to be more impartial, but in regards to perks they're really coddling survivor players recently.

2019 imo wasn't a good year at all for the game. The game once again started becoming extremely unbalanced due to the typical BHVR stuff. They would nerf one thing on one side that would heavily skew the game to the other side. They have a habit of being like "oh X for the killer is strong and Z for survivor is strong so we'll get rid of X now and then look at Z at a later time" and yes they've done things like "X for survivors is strong and Z for killers is strong, we'll get rid of X and look at Z at a later time."

Like the whole mori nerf. I am over the moon excited that they finally changed it to death hook in order to get moried. I love that change. But keys are untouched. Now 6 or 7 out of 10 of my games one of the other survivors have a key, do nothing but get free hatch escape. I'm tired of being solo survivor filled with potato teammates escaping cuz they hide with a key

That's exactly how I use it too. I'm not oblivious to the fact that some Survivors absolutely abuse the hell out of their advantage with it. I can see it from both sides of the spectrum which is why I'd love for BHVR to brainstorm as to how they could break DS and Tunneling out of being in a meta loop.

    Let me run my nerdy/underrated builds again! </3 D;

Quick and quiet, dance with me, head on, pebble, always been my fav build xD

  • @Unicorn said:

I feel this is a question only the Dev's can answer and am curious to know the answer too. I'd love to have the gameplay tweaked to where I feel I don't have to run DS. I hate running DS, I really do. Its a one-time chance perk that I'd rather not touch but there's always those Killers who make me feel like I have to put it into my loadout. Yesterday I got tunneled twice directly off of a hook by a Plague when I took my DS off, and what made it worse was that me and my friends wanted everyone to get a good portion of BP's at the end of the match so we ran 3 BPS and 1 Ghastly Gateau. I got less points than I would if I were running a regular game with no extra BP's offerings. Lol

I am in the same boat as you. I run DS because I do not like getting tunneled, its annoying but it happens. But I know that DS is so annoying to go against as a killer and the biggest "i can do anything i want" perk in the game. So I run DS but I kind of use it as if it has limitations to it. Like if I get unhooked and the killer goes straight to me ignoring everybody else, I use it. But if the killer avoids me and I get working on a gen or something, even if he finds me again within that 60 seconds after finding/hooking somebody else, I don't go for the ds. I ignore it. He didn't tunnel me and DS is an anti tunnel perk so I just put limitations on when I use it so its not just get out of jail free

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

You're going to get us vs them answers, but we can only speculate unless BHVR actually says anything.

Yeah I know I will, I just wanted to say I didn't want those answers so when they start coming I will just ignore them.

  • @chieften333 said:

It's hard to say at the moment. It's baffling how DS hasn't been changed given the devs have expressed interest in it. As well as the fact it's easily abusable when coupled with unbreakable.

Yet undying, which is reliant on good totem RNG. Can be removed from the match when found. Which can be accomplished with the help of maps, or two perks. In a hex centric meta I have no idea why no one would run those, then complain that undying/ruin is too strong.

I hope the devs have a plan for it, but it's hard to say when they never tell us anything of substance.

I rarely have gone against undying/ruin but I run detective's hunch just because i run inner strength so the few times i have gone against it, it was never a big deal. I mainly started thinking about this topic when pop was nerfed. Like the devs saying "60 seconds was too much time for a killer to do other stuff and still have pop active" but the same timer applies to DS and nothing is done about it, its just "its being looked into"

I've just never understood that devs vision when it comes to some balance changes and I'd really like to know exactly what makes them decide something needs to be nerfed
