If u dont want to struggle, try to kobe and suicide if u dont get it. Not sure what u try to achieve.
Less tedious gameplay.

The items aren't hidden though. Currently, the items survivors are carrying can be seen.
You're suggesting that making it easier to identify Keys in lobbies (which are currently difficult to identify due to how small and dark the Keys are) would encourage lobby dodging as though that is a reason to leave Keys as difficult to be seen. I disagree.

There's nothing exciting about being slugged for a solid minute after jumping off the hook because the Killer was right there anyways just in case. :P

Ok, so there are things that people are entitled to. Killers weapon is entitled to deal damage if it hits the survivior, survivior is entitled to complete the gen when its at 100%, killer is entitled to hooking a survivior once hooking animation ends, survivior is entitled to hook attempts on first hook, ... Etc. Are we doing some silly game now? Do you even know what "entitled" means? You dont see a difference between game mechanics and denying survivior hook escape attempts because killer is "entitled" to kill him?
"survivior is entitled to hook attempts on first hook"
Not if they're the last Survivor in the trial. ;)

Yeah, but why is the last hook different from others at all?
And yes, it would make a difference, even if they are conscius
- Killer can be potato and miss you
- You can run DS (but it should be nerfed to not work as last survivior)
- You can Dead Hard/Sprint Burst to the exit
- If you get caught, killer gets bonus sacrifice and a BBQ stack.
The circumstances needed to make such a thing matter are infrequent/specific enough that it would not be worth it to implement in exchange for all the times where it would amount to nothing more than a waste of time.
At best, just give the last Survivor full struggle points automatically unless it would have normally been their death hook.

But self unhooking is a guaranteed game mechanic?
Every time you hook someone for the first time, they have escape attempts. Why the last survivior has to be an exception?
Hey, we already established that no one is entitled to anything in this game. :P

Kobe is 4%, killers always have to consider it.
Its not hard to know if you hooked someone already or not
I'm talking about when there's only one Survivor left so self-unhooking is impossible. Changing that would just make Killers more conscious in making sure it doesn't make difference.

I would've crawled out regardless, 60 seconds is more than enough time. >:D
That is certainly fair. Though to also be fair, it is possible that if the circumstances allowed for it, the Killer could have placed you on a slightly further hook such that 60 seconds wouldn't have cut it. If they allow last Survivor to unhook, I imagine more Killers would attempt to take such precautions.
-
Going by the add-on description, I would assume that it will be 30 points and would be augmented by add-ons that care about Shock Therapy.
I don't think shocking someone multiple times with Iridescent King will pass all of the inflictions to someone else with Iridescent Queen. I imagine the charge recipient will only get one as though they were shocked by a Shock Therapy.
I am reasonably confident that I have had cases where a Survivor was shocked when trying to rescue an electrically charged person on a hook.

I think it's pointless due to many reasons.
To me the video clearly shows why last survivor should die if he gets put on the hook (even if it's their first hook). The killer will just down you, again. The only reason he got out was through Decisive Strike, which is going to get reworked (eventually).
Personally. I don't see a reason why the last person should get another chance. They got chased/downed and the killer decided to hook them. End game. Why force the killer to redo the process because you didn't escape the first chance you had?
I think it's good enough we already get second chances when all survivors are on the hooks and the game doesn't end there.
I mean, yes, it is pointless for a number of reasons, but I was speaking primarily in the context of the video.
-
You have to be very careful with implementing anti-tunneling mechanics and make sure that:
1) There is little to no room for abuse
2) It's not too broad that it ends up hurting Killers in situations where tunneling would actually make sense strategically.
-

I was hoping to the Bloody Entity that this Claudette didn't stop struggling because it would've told the game to automatically sacrifice me on first hook.

It's pointless because the Killer just camps the last Survivor until they reach stage 2, which the Killer clearly did not do in that video. :P

no need for whispers, run discordance or simply use your brain and only use the blast when you see someone or hear a gen. the blast is frankly ridiculous anyways, due to there being almost no counterplay except lockers it is so annoying to play against that it promotes gen rushing opposed to going for the save.
I'd rather just run Whispers, tbh. No need to use any guesswork when I can just have a perk do it all for me with a 100% accuracy rate. :P

I probably could if I bothered to patrol the boxes and chase survivors off of them, but if I do that, then I'm not chasing survivors off generators.. Rather prevent generators than force someone's head to blow up.
I try to keep a balance. Don't try and push for it unless I think there is chance that I can make it happen.

Maybe. Perhaps Streamer Mode could have all names changed to Killer and Survivor character names (with numbers to denote duplicate Survivors).

My Reply to You
I know it would be OP, as I said in my post. Even for a day.
The only reason we have even been discussing this long is because I don't think you've realized what we have been talking about because you have been so fixated on this Kobe thing.
I 100% know that the Kobe thing being set to 24% would be OP as [BAD WORD], I even know 8% which is way more reasonable would still be strong. HOWEVER I think it would be cool if DBD could do small little 24 hour type of events like this without the community attacking itself. At worst you lose a few games for 1 day in which you probably play for about a 4-6 hour period. At best you get some laugh's out of the stupidity of the event. And the middle ground, it barely impacts your play.
I am saying it would not be "cool." It would be terrible. Even for 24 hours.

Whelp, I might have went on a rant on that one. TL;DR I have yet to encounter long survivor queue because of killers in an uproar of any change.
THE FOLLOWING MIGHT BE A TAD BIT OF A RANT
You're right, its going to be a huge uproar, almost as bad as the ruin one, you know when my survivor queue times dropped from an average of 7.3 minutes to 4.1 minutes.
Everyone always throws that and its most annoying thing. I have yet to see the survivor queue times ever fluctuate from the community. Its always because of something BHVR did.
For example, the only reason my queue times were getting close to 10 minutes ago, wasn't because of the lack of killers, its because 1 red rank SWF with 3 Purple, or higher people were getting pair with my red rank killers. Causing my queue to expand and expand until I got a lobby.
I wasn't getting paired with rank 10+ survivors as a red rank survivor because people stopped playing the game I was getting paired with the because BHVR didn't realize the impact of using the highest ranked player to match against would eventually cause all of those killers to be taken forcing survivors queue times longer.
I think Tofu did a great job explaining this functionality.
Even as a Killer, given this 1 day "event" of 8% kobe chance, I would still play killer normally like any other day, technically I might be a little more toxic because I usually let the kobe guy live, but would probably kill him in this instance.
That's because none of the changes are on the level of increasing the chances of self-unhooking sixfold PER ATTEMPT.
What you are suggesting is a terrible idea. Plain and simple.

That's a bad reason not to do it. Just find a solution to lobby dodging. Hiding items is not the answer.

I know it would be OP, as I said in my post. Even for a day.
The problem is it shouldn't cause an uproar 1 its for one day and 2 its to pay respect. Which I am honestly not even a basketball fan and think it would be cool, because who here used Kobe in a bad way, it was just a fun meme.
I mean if DBD posted a new update that said "Today all Kobe attempts will be increased to 8% for the next 24 hours" As long as I knew there was an increase I would just chuckle every time someone did it, I would probably be less likely to give a kobe hatch for the day though. lol
It would definitely cause an uproar. Expect Survivor queues to shoot up absurdly for a day if such a thing happened. It is not worth it in the slightest.
-
@mouse0270 said:
Pretty much what @Peanits said. I think more people are attempting it in a form of honor to Kobe.
It's actually kinda sweet, I kinda wish the devs would be like, For January 30, All Kobe efforts have been increased by 24%. I get that it't not official to call getting off the hook "Kobe" but I think even the devs know, jumping off the hook is a "Kobe"
I know 24% is OP as #########, but it still would be cool
That change would cause a massive uproar, even if only for a day. Not a good way to pay tribute IMO.

Hm, that's true. I imagine the only way to reliably do it would be for either the streamers or the streaming platform to use some kind of technology that automatically detects and blurs any words on the screen. Which I'm sure is technically possible, but I'm not sure how easily accessible that kind of software would be.
To be fair, I think such technology is more of a when than an if. I could imagine reaching a point where that actually becomes possible.
-
@Fibijean said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1042471#Comment_1042471
You could potentially enforce a rule that requires them to not reveal other people's usernames on their stream. At least that protects them from being targeted by the streamer's rabid fans if something goes wrong ingame.
In some games, that is possible. In others (like, say, a game where the username shows up in multiple spots or even worse, it hovers around with a player character), it would be way more difficult.
-
I am not a lawyer or legal expert in any way, but I don't see how there would be any way to enforce rules forbidding streaming other online players you are playing with who don't want it outside of just forbidding streaming online gameplay in its entirety.
-
@toxicmegg said:
instead of complaining here, try using your eyes in the lobby, they can be seen
Barely. I sometimes have to squint to see if they have a Key, and other times hands are positioned such that the Key is pointed toward the screen which makes it even harder to tell. I've had games where I didn't realize someone had a Key and games where I mistakenly believed someone who didn't have an item was holding a Key.
@OnryosTapeRentals said:
This change isn't needed. There are other more significant game issues that should be fixed over minor aesthetic adjustments.
Disagree. This seems like it would be an easy change to make without taking time away from other game changes. Just make it so hovering over an item will tell you what class of item it is (Toolbox, Medkit, Map, Key, Flashlight, Firecracker) without telling you specifically which item in that class it is (so you'll know that it's a Key, but not whether it's Broken, Dull, or Skeleton).
-
It's funny that OP wanted to nerf the Doctor by taking away Static Field and making it so you have to shock people to make them scream, since that change actually did happen except it turned out to be a buff.
-
Far as I can tell, Unbreakable is totally fine.
-
Nah, I don't wanna lug around a pig mask. I'd wanna try to cosplay Legion some day, though.
-
On the one hand, the new system they propose does seem to be better for matchmaking than the current system (assuming it actually works, of course). On the other hand, I don't see why that means we need to have the new metric for matchmaking (Skill Rating) hidden from everyone. If the system doesn't work, we won't really have a good way of knowing beyond "gee, this matchmaking feels off for some reason." It doesn't seem like players will have a good way of knowing if the system actually is flawed or if it's just a perception thing. That to me does not seem like a good thing.

Right but if you're not within hitting distance you can't hinder the killer with bodyblocking. If you're outside of range it's just baiting which isn't very effective. I get the BT complaint, but waiting until BL 1 guarantees it's gone.
Get in close so the Killer wants to sidestep you since going for the DS person is just a waste of time, and if they can't, you back off when they try to go for you to just get it over with.
-
@Waffleyumboy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1040188#Comment_1040188
To be able to bodyblock you need to be right within hitting range of the killer. No chase required for them.
Naturally you attempt to not actually get hit. Could be a juke, could be Dead Hard, could even be the unhooker's Borrowed Time if you have the opportunity. Each second the Killer spends preoccupied with someone who has a full minute of protection from being picked up is a second the Killer is not spending pressuring anything else.
-

No they didn't go after you. We're talking about bodyblocking while DS is up.
If they try to down the DS person to stop them from bodyblocking, they went after the DS person and wasted time.

Unbreakable is once per game. Using it after getting yourself dropped is a pretty inefficient use of it.
Not if you are trying to waste the Killer's time. They spent time going after someone they couldn't hook.
-

If someone has to heal them it was an even trade: one effortless hit for a teammate having to come over and pick you up/unbreakable.
With a teammate heal, it depends on the context. With Unbreakable, I would say the Survivor absolutely comes out ahead.
-
@Waffleyumboy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1040135#Comment_1040135
They can't do that without going down and wasting their team's time.
If they are back on their feet without getting hooked from there (whether it be proccing DS or someone healing them or Unbreakable), then DS still succeeded in wasting the Killer's time.

The survivor running around doing nothing for a minute is beneficial to the killer.
But they're not doing nothing. They're actively blocking the Killer.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1040112#Comment_1040112
Yes there is no DS because the survivor isn't being tunneled once they get back to the rat race.
In that case, why wouldn't the Survivor instead want to actually make the most of their DS by forcing a proc? Is the Killer just going to let the Survivor be in their face and roadblock for a full minute?
-
@Waffleyumboy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1040097#Comment_1040097
Or the survivor can get back to doing gens like normal? If the survivor tries to bait the killer into tunneling the killer can ignore them because they're useless to their team.
"Or the survivor can get back to doing gens like normal?"
Then there's no DS, is there?
-
@Waffleyumboy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1040071#Comment_1040071
What do you mean? It means the survivor either has invincibility or is doing meaningful objectives.
And if the Survivor wants to actually make use of the invincibility, they can't work on gens (or heal). Where does that leave the Survivor in question? Actively forcing it. Hence encouraging the abuse.
-
@Waffleyumboy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1040045#Comment_1040045
Deactivate if the survivor heals or repairs. Seems good enough.
That means the Survivor is not allowed to do anything meaningful except for act as bait/a meat shield for a solid minute. All that would really do in my eyes is encourage the abuse.
-
@AsePlayer said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1039935#Comment_1039935
If that change goes through, I'd literally only be able to enjoy matches in SWF. I'd just get farmed into oblivion in solo queue, and believe it or not, it's not that fun.
I mean, what am I supposed to say? I'll still play solo Survivor (even though I am trash). I don't even use DS currently.
If the situation is such that we can't change a perk to stop abuse because of tunneling, then that sounds like a sign of a fundamental problem in not just game balance, but game design overall.
@Waffleyumboy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1039935#Comment_1039935
It's better to remove the chance for tunneling than the chance for abuse. Besides, there are other changes to DS that can be made to prevent tunneling AND abuse.
Can't say I agree on the grounds that it ain't tunneling in my book if the Killer is going after the unhooker and giving the unhooked a decent chance to be healed.
What suggestions do you propose to prevent abuse but preserve anti-tunneling?
