The omnidirectional-unhook is specifically to prevent killer from bodyblocking the only possible unhook direction.
-
Yes that's why he literally made a mechanic for sliding. You do realize Blight came out back in 2020, right?
-
If you got hit through a pallet, it means they hit you on the server. So it's still working as intended.
-
@jakubr21 said:
Guys it does not matter what McLean said, since he is not part of the team for almost year and a developer won't admit that he made bug with sliding so he says that it is intended.
He’s LITERALLY THE CREATOR. You are the one that asked for proof, and now that you got it, it doesn’t matter? Moving the goalposts much? You should be an athlete with how well you can make stretches.
-
Original, because I like seeing what BHVR comes up with. And Blight and Nurse are both original while managing to be the best-designed and balanced killers in the game.
-
It spawns 3 chains 3 times before pausing for 12 seconds, after which it repeats. Break the chains manually, not environment, and then solve during the break.

Yes, because camper is no abusable
Camping is a strategy explicitly acknowledged and accepted by BHVR.

There are 5 people with killer profiles and no survivors. Obviously doesn't mean they don't play survivor, but it does show where the people who are replying preference's lie
Or... they just like that character/perk.

@CodeDB said:
The problem I see with calling camping/tunneling "legitimate strategies" is that it treats the survivors as 1 entity. People are absolutely correct that camping/tunneling to regain pressure is a thing if the survivors were treated as a group but on the individual level, it is a terrible experience. Dead by Daylight isn't an actual team sport like football or hockey or something silly like that, its essentially 4 separate 1v1 matches.
If someone is in solo queue and gets camped/tunneled out without even being able to touch a gen or help a teammate, does it matter to them that the rest of the team was able to escape? Their miniscule bloodpoints, and most likely depip, says otherwise. Having the team "slam gens" to punish the killer does nothing for the person on the hook (especially if they got the hook early and have end game perks like NOED or No Way Out).
This is why I personally think tunneling/camping should be addressed rather than from punishing the killer, it should reward spreading hooks. Additional points (similar to BBQ obviously), giving the killer a speed boost after hooking all survivors, or less gen speeds for survivors with hook states.
That being said, there are still the jerks who just want to ruin other peoples experience (face camping Bubbas or AFK Pigs will always be a thing) regardless of the rewards or punishments. Another thing that would be nice is if the end game thumbs up actually did stuff (give BP, eventually award a cosmetic, etc) to encourage positive feedback after matches.
The devs have LITERALLY EXPLICITLY acknowledged that tunneling and camping are strategies, and ones that this game is LITERALLY balanced around. But as you have said, the only correct way to "change" that is to give buffs for NOT doing so. Giving BP for people tunneled/camped out would be fine, but mechanically, killers would need buffs to incentivize not having to use those strategies.

@SimplyPixelated06 said:
No it's not that. Its just obviously there has been 0 survivor related profile pictures. So there's obviously a bias here in terms of the kind of people commenting
A profile picture has nothing to do with being sided lmao.
-
@SimplyPixelated06 said:
I just thought it was interesting that it seems to be more killer sided players replying. But that's besides the point
Not supporting extremely busted ideas does not make people killer-sided.
-
@SimplyPixelated06 said:
I don't see any of these ideas being inherently bad or the first 2 ideas being abusable. But I respect your opinion. I also like how most of these replies are from people with killer or killer perk pictures, hopefully we see more people who play both equally and can see it from both perspectives 😂
Most people here do play both equally. Also, giving an entire extra life for a hook state is insanely abusable. Let alone paused/stopped hook timer or guaranteed self-unhook. BHVR has explicitly tested anti-camping/anti-tunneling ideas before like these and had to scrap them BECAUSE they were abusable.
-
@SimplyPixelated06 said:
I didn't say killers don't need buffs in certain areas to balance out putting any of these ideas in place because they will! However this post is just specifically mentioning what could be done with the survivor side of things since this is largely a survivor issue.
Ideas 1/2/4 are beyond busted regardless. 3 is the only feasible one with some counter buffs or adjustments to how the base BT works. (EG, the unhooked survivor can't bodyblock for their unhooker)
-
Um, no. The game should be balanced where the 4 COMBINED are equal to the 1.
-
Ideas like these are extremely abusable as well insanely overpowered. Some have already been tested and scrapped for that exact reason. There is nothing inherently wrong with camping and tunneling, they are strategies with risks and benefits that can be punished accordingly when done recklessly. The reason strategic camping/tunneling exists is for the need to gain or regain pressure. Nerfing those strategies without giving large mechanical buffs to replace the need to use those strategies for gaining and regaining pressure is a terrible idea.
-
There's nothing wrong with taking the game seriously. The problem happens when people take it out on others for not taking it as seriously as they themselves do or more seriously than they do.
-

The problem I have with it is it seems to go against the stated goal of the End Game Collapse not favoring either side. Also, how effective this build is against solo queue. Countering this requires some combination of:
- IMMEDIATELY touching the 2nd gate to start No Way Out's timer.
- Having all 5 totems cleansed (doubtful in most cases) or quickly finding and cleansing Noed. Even having found Noed, I imagine this could be done with Bubba to have an instadown on command.
It's such a small window of time for survivors with comms to realize what the killer is doing and be in position to counter it. I don't know if that's a reasonable expectation for a normal solo queue team.
It's meant to not favor either side normally, yes. When the killer devotes all 4 perks to SPECIFICALLY that, of course it would change that.
-
Didn’t Scott specifically say he was retiring and not doing any more future projects before he handed it off to someone else? I don’t think he’d be interested in a collaboration either.
-
If they’re camping the gate, then just get rid of NOED and leave. Or sacrifice one person and the others get out before killer can hook in time.

Source? I am genuinely curious.
Where McLean explains the Rush collision detector mechanic: https://clips.twitch.tv/SaltyBeautifulFoxTriHard-d5EklvyTscZluOLe
Where McLean acknowledges sliding is an intentionally created mechanic: https://www.twitch.tv/mclean_yep/clip/SullenProductiveAlmondPastaThat-3gIl_qyQ2UAmaqun
Can't find the verbatim first quote given these were said nearly a year ago and I don't recall which VOD at which moment it was from, but I hope these suffice.
As a little bonus, where McLean explains the process of double flicking (flick, M1 to reset turn cap, flick again) is intended: https://www.twitch.tv/mclean_yep/clip/AmorphousFaithfulKleeTheTarFu-jPzbiLNS-Dku-899

That's not how i interpret it. The idea is that he kills anyone and uses their skin as a face. The problem with smart face was though is that it implied he was only killing black people. If there was a mask of all 4 of the original survivors then it would reinforce this idea that he does not discriminate (Leatherface is not a racist character as far as i am aware)
No, the issue was it got used together with actively targeting POC streamers. As in, the black face mask was pretty clearly being used as a proxy for the actual person playing as survivor in question.

I agree with that. I wish they would have done a community idea : Add 1 mask that would be all 4 of the original survivors faces stitched together.
The entire point is removing the black character's face being used as a skin, which then got used to target POC streamers. That would defeat the point.

So i have mayor issues the way this is handled we are setting a precedent where we punish the ones who actually grinded out these masks instead of punishing people who harassing said players. So in effect we are punishing bubba players and yes you give out some compensation but let's be honest a bit of currency is not really replacing it and no bubba cosmetic can be bought even with iri shards. I am very displeased that the easy route has been taken instead of punishing toxic behavior. Not to mention they have not been given out yet.
Sorry this is a bit of a rant but i needed to speak up this is just unjust and makes me lose interest in keeping on playing.
Them removing a tool used for racism doesn't prevent them from also taking action against the racists.
-
@tippy2k2 said:
The only part that I really don't like is the compensation part. The cosmetic taken away were for Bubba but these Shards don't let us get anything for Bubba.
As much as it would have hurt the pocket book, if BHVR really was serious about how it affects their players, either Auric Cells should have been given (enough for one of the Bubba Cosmetics) or a new replacement cosmetic for Bubba should have been created for this. Since they just released the Old Lady Cosmetic a little while ago, I presume they still have some kind of a working relationship with the license holder if they needed permission to give Bubba some kind of new mask or cosmetic (maybe a multi-person cosmetic where all four survivors faces are sewn into one mask?).
The masks weren't bought. You got them through playing. You earn Shards through playing. So you got Shards back.

McLean (Blight's creator): I want Blight to be able to pick when to slide or slam
McLean: [Makes his Rush collision detector have 2 components, the second of which uses the camera angle to determine the collision size and thus whether he collides or slides]
People: "This is clearly unintentional."
-
BHVR tested exactly that and it was forced to be scrapped for being horrifically abusable.

It's so weird, games like tf2 with 24 people in one match can manage hitboxes easily, but this game with 4 survivors is "too much computing power".
"Why is a multi-billion dollar company with a huge amount of servers able to do a lot more than a company that's a fraction the money and size? It makes no sense."
-
Send BHVR a support ticket at their support page
-
um, no
She doesn’t need any buffs or nerfs.
-
For the love of god when will people stop repeating this stupid myth? Hitboxes are not an issue. It is latency. And that is something that is literally unavoidable and inherently cannot be removed. BHVR has literally explicitly explained this before repeatedly. The below is an explanation from Peanits, the community manager. Before someone asks a dumb question like “Why don’t they just make more hitboxes for each body part of the survivor,” the reason they don’t is because the more hitboxes you have, the more computing power and load it requires and it makes the game tremendously more demanding. Every single hitbox has to constantly check for collision with any possible object. Also because they don’t want different characters to have advantages and disadvantages off of size and shape of their hitboxes if that was the case.
-
That's not a bug. That is exactly how it's supposed to work.

You mean the sliding when he looks down? Or the sliding on certain objects? I honestly don't think neither of them are intentional. I think Blight just played normally and without his insane addons is still very strong. Minus the problem of not being able to bounce off of certain objects of course.
Both. McLean (his creator) made the second component of his Rush collision detector work off of camera angle, so that you can lower it to reduce the collision, and thus slide. He also specifically said he wanted Blight to have the ability to pick to slide or slam.

Learning Nurse is very hard. Yeah you will lose so much games. But when you get good with her, she is not hard anymore. Because her blinks are simple when you learn.
Blight is different. Even you learn him power, you will need learn more. For example, which objects will run your rushs, j-flicks, how you will rush at gyms etc. This is why mastering Blight is hard. Because you are never stopping to learn him. Nurse does not need this, learn her powers and mindgames. You are okey.
So i did not say "Nurse is easy". You misunderstood me.
I think you misread what I said. I was replying to where you said “but mastering her is easy”, which isn’t even remotely true.

Blight is not hard for beginners because he is 115% killer. Learning him power is easy but mastering him hard. Nurse is harder for beginners because she is slower than survivors. Learning her power is hard but mastering her is easy.
If you ask my personal advice, go for Blight. He is so fun killer. As old Nurse main, she is so boring. Blight is unique and so fun. You can check LilithOmen's channel, he is good Blight main and he has good guides.
The skill floor for learning bump logic is fairly high. Also what on earth do you mean by mastering Nurse is "easy"? In what world is that true? LOL
Both of them are extremely difficult to master because high-level chases as and against Blights and Nurses are heavily mindgame-centric, and you have to learn to adapt on the fly to players that will also do the same back against you, as well as the incredible versatility and depth to their powers in general.
-
He's average at best. Why would he be nerfed again? He just got pretty much his only good add-on nerfed.
-
No to the Lament Configuration change. The ENTIRE POINT is the person carrying it is supposed to suffer difficulties.
Engineer's Fang should just get a distance requirement slapped on it. Giving a reward for long-range shots is good. Your suggested idea would be pretty useless for the most part unless he used it right beside someone nearby.
Not sure how I feel about Haste. Speed boosts are a super delicate thing to work with because even slight changes can be busted.
-
Nurse/Blight

That does not count as a gameplay hostage situation. That said, what that killer did was still rude. That said, it's not against the rules.

The game should be oriented towards FUN for both sides.
Do you see me complaining about Legion's tracking ability? no. But Doctor's AOE Reveal scream is so stupid, plus it adds stacks and when you reach 3 stacks you can't even use pallets anymore. So first it breaks hide and seek component of game, and then it breaks the chase aspect. IMO Doctor needs a complete rework so he's not such an anti-fun toxic killer.
Fun is subjective and irrelevant to balance.

I really dont get the argument of 'survivors will just run around the hooks and swarm the killer' like... let them. That means they arent doing gems. Hook someone, let the survivors do what they will with them. Just because they unhook doesnt reduce the amount of progress toward a sacrifice.
Like yeah, as a killer it can be frustrating to get swarmed by survivors in a swf but a hook is a hook. Hook them and walk away, thats all there is to it.
That's literally stupid. Why would I leave and give them a free unhook?

Theorycrafting about face-camping Leatherface is completely different than actual practice. You can theory-craft all you want about 3 escapes with a face-camping Leatherface but in actuality, face-camping Leatherface is shown, on average to hover around 3 kills, 1 escape.

In my country (USA) you have a right to free speech, some will say but not hate speech, technically in America there's no such thing as hate speech (in constitution/legally) because it's hard to define exactly. You can't say anything however like yelling FIRE in a crowded movie theater or anything that may cause physical harm. Threats are looked at differently as well, especially if they're coming from the same person repeatedly. And there are hate crimes which are punishable.
I don't necessarily agree with all of this, but it is what it is. I'm on ps4 and can tell you I have no post game chat, but Sony is good at banning you, to the point it can be obnoxious (like Facebook) for using any cussword for instance in like a private message or on your profile and even in videos.
Gamers like this remind me of people stuck in traffic or that get cut off in traffic, get so heated in the moment they say stuff they don't mean, for the most part.
First of all, the legal right of free speech literally ONLY applies to the government not being able to take legal action against something you say (as long as it is not another crime such as slander/intent to cause harm/etc). It does NOT apply to private companies and domains. So no, it would not be applicable in the first place.
There is a difference in getting heated and in saying a slur/encouraging harm/threat. The latter is never ever excusable. People do not say slurs when they’re angry if the slur wasn’t already part of their vocabulary. And encouraging IRL harm/threats is absolutely unacceptable.
