  • Issue is the prestige system. I don't recall constant whining about lobby dodging prior to that. Because people dodged less when they didn't have giant "HEY I PROBABLY HAVE THOUSANDS OF HOURS" indicators on survivors.

And yes, I am going to dodge the lobby with the 400 ping VPNing Dwight from China. Having a rubber banding 400 ping teammate isn't a challenge. It's just unfun.

  • I don't think Billy will ever see a major change in the remainder of the games life. Same for a lot of killers.

  • Because I should be guaranteed x amount of time in a match even though no other PVP game does that. Also chases are unfun.

  • I don't see the issue, since it has happened for 7 years and no one cared much until real recently, which to me suggests some twitch streamer or youtuber made a video/keeps talking about it. There's no fix. What are you gonna do? Ban killers for leaving a lobby? Well, you'd need to equally add that rule to survivors, so no leaving when you see three 5 hour Dwights VPNing from another country, with a 400 ping and mysteriously wearing legacy gear. Also DC penalties exist because DCing in a game ruins the game. No game has started yet, so no game is ruined. Same reason we don't ban someone for DCing during loading. Nothing has started and nothing is lost. What's the other option? Program the game into malware so I can't leave a lobby, can't alt f4 and can't end process?

If the issue is caused due to prestige, then maybe remove that system, as it is causing an issue that was not present for over half a decade.

  • Revert all nerfs from the Trickster Mid Chapter update. I believe that was the update where they killed him. Before that, people unironically would say he was S tier and free wins.

  • It's always really hard to tell if these threads are jokes.

  • Hostage holding is not "It's hard for me to win/the killer won't let me win." It's "I literally have no option but to DC." Was it a total D-head move? Yes. But it isn't hostage holding. As you said, you went to him and he slugged you and the game eventually ended. Hostage holding is a situation where the game cannot end unless you DC. Which is pretty much just "Physically blocking a survivor in a corner."

I think the killer was a ass to do things like slug you to death, but at the same time, he doesn't owe anyone a good chance to escape at that point if he really really wants the 4k.

2 years ago, RE chapter was dud

Remember how they even disabled rpd for more than a month cause they weren't even able to make it work? Good programmers btw

I guess it depends what you consider a dud. The RE chapter created the most active time in the game, with its "all time players" record being from that time. So, it sure wasn't a dud in terms of reception and player attraction.

  • Because Sadako didn't cause 60 minute matches that cause players to just quit playing the game. She just sucked.

  • Just revert his nerfs from two years ago. Before that, everyone was going on about him being some unbeatable S tier.

  • I don't get why this is being called a Pig nerf. A nerf to her perk isn't a direct nerf to her. MYC was not used on her. It's as much a Pig nerf as Eruption is a direct nerf to Nemesis, because it's his perk. This is indeed an unneeded nerf to all scream based perks. Something that no one complained about, and all those perks were already fairly unviable. Now they are genuinely useless.

  • A very original thread. I have never seen a survivor scream about how unfun camping/tunneling/slugging/3genning is. First time. I certainly don't see 5 of these threads a day.

These things won't leave because the only way to deal with them is to give killers a better option. Something even more effective. The survivor idea of "JUST PUNISH THEM" never works. Fails every time something is put in and meant to discourage a playstyle.

  • Team has more hours in game than I have in life

    Obvious hacker in the lobby

    Survivor with awful ping

    Obvious troll squads.

Punishment is a bad idea. But people generally just want to use the stick and not the carrot. Problem is the stick never works in this game.

  • The biggest issue with "perk to counter x" is that not everyone is going to use that perk. People said reassurance would kill camping and I knew it wouldn't because that thought relied on the idea every survivor would be equipping it and it would have a 100% use rate. It did not.

Also we already have a perk that protects you for a long time after being unhooked. Off the Record. Which honestly seems far better than this. Killers would just slug you for 4 minutes in a situation where you have made the hooks unusable and made it impossible for them to hook you. They'd also camp even harder to ensure you have no way to use this perk, since if you are never unhooked, then you can't ever set this off. Even if basekit UB gets in, that won't stop the killer standing over your body and pressing M1 if you get up. So this would just result in increased camping and slugging

  • Just out of curiosity do survivors feel that playing video games like fighting games or Batlle royales also are "not playing the game"? Bad players in fighting games can get basically killed in two hits by a great player, and never get an offensive attack off. Battle royales, well...SOMEONE has to be the first guy killed. He didn't get to play. Clearly fortnite needs protection so I cannot die early on! Also, you did play. If you got hooked then you played, because a chase started. If you went down so fast you feel you "didn't get to play" then that is genuinely just you not being good and wanting training wheels to ensure you continue playing regardless of skill. Otherwise, you looped the killer and ran from them, which is gameplay. It's no one elses fault if you went down in 2 seconds because you tried to hide against Doc or something

  • The pattern is always one of three things

    1. Changes before launch (almost never significant enough to help)
    2. Changes in mid-chapter
    3. Changes via a rework in 2-3 years.

If she doesn't see a rework/fix by mid chapter then I'd expect her fixes to be in 2025/2026

  • I don't feel the character needs to have some sympathetic reasoning. We don't need her to have some clear "and she became bad because her parents didn't love her..." thing. Some people are just sociopathic and enjoy hurting others for pleasure. I don't see an issue with a killer like that. Especially after every singular female killer in the game has a sympathetic sort of backstory. It's refreshing to see one who just enjoys hunting and killing people instead of doing it due to some trauma/necessity.

I still feel her lore is sloppy. So much isn't explained. What's with the drones? Why are they so integral to her that they are her power? Why do they even have skulls in them? Do they even say where the skulls come from or are we left to assume? Why is she even called the Skull Merchant aside from a really vague tie in to a manga? She doesn't seem to be a merchant. Why does she have a fascination with skulls?

There's a lot where they make an implication of something cool or interesting, yet don't elaborate. I feel a lore tome could help her a lot. She needs her story and personality greatly expanded. There's something good there, but it's unfinished. I'd honestly prefer she get a tome sooner than later, just so she can have a more complete story.

  • I really don't see what more they could do for you at this point besides just let you win.

  • I don't really mind a super villain mercenary looking killer. I don't really want a robot unless it's a the T-800.

  • The simple logical answer is that you proved that you are the best player, so they are going to ensure you get out so they can, you know, actually win.

The bad logic is "something something psychologically mad"

  • Why would there be a slider? That's like having a slider to make your killer slower. Why would you ever do that? Higher FOV gives a massive advantage, so who would ever have it low? A slider makes no sense at all. Might as well have a slider for how often your killer M1 works.

If you just increase FOV overall, it will be a buff. Which plenty will be against. I'm not against increasing the FOV, but a slider is pointless. It would be a slider to handicap yourself.

  • She isn't abandoned, she's at the back of the line. On average it takes 2 years to get back to a character to do a pass over them and fix them. 2 and a half for Legion. Two for Ghost face. 2 years for Twins. She'll get a pass in 2024. Very few characters get to skip this unless they're super special to the devs. Like Trickster.

No I'm not saying people should be punished for being good. Either he's going against players well below his skill level or the playstyle is broken. I didn't elaborate which and I thought I was fair with my assessment.

There's simply no way to deal with him going against lower skill players, because if MMR didn't cap, then players like him would see 3 hour queues. And that would effectively be banning the guy from the character (possibly the entire killer role), since no one is going to sit in queue for 3 hours. They tried not capping MMR. It just didn't work.

  • @th3syst3m said:

OnePumpWillie got a 215+ with condemned playstyle. Really any game that has matchmaking that should never happen. Either matchmaking should be fixed so people like OnePumpWillie would be in queue for 3 days or maybe the playstyle is broken and shouldn't be possible.

This is such backwards logic for a PVP game. So, if you get too good at a game, the game should either

    1. Ban you (which is what you are effectively asking for by giving players 3 hour queues)
    2. Just make you autolose a match by giving your opponents god mode or something

If the playstyle is broken, then you can surely show me 10 people with these streaks. Hell, show me just 3. You can't. Because he's the only one. Why would anyone get good at this game if the devs were going to ban them/give them unwinnable matches? And if it's the playstyle and not him being skilled, then you should have zero issues finding more examples.

  • I truly don't understand this mindset. It feels opposite of every PVP game. For some reason, DBD players think that if someone gets very skilled at the game, then they need to be punished. Either the entire role needs a nerf, or a specific killer needs a nerf, or the skilled play should just be unable to play (effectively banned) or they should just auto lose a match. Why get good if people are going to demand your head on a platter for the crime of being too good?

  • Tombstone Piece. And I don't think it was ever anything else. In a vacuum, I don't see how one can argue "cause an instant 3v1" is weaker than another add on. Yeah, Myers might not become unstoppable with it, but that's a testament to Myers weakness, and not really the add on. Imagine if Nurse had tombstone piece. In a vacuum, tombstone piece is just inarguably the most powerful add on. It turns Myers from a near-joker character to a major threat that you need to fear.

  • It's pretty unlikely that it's a straight up For Honor character, IMO.

  • Hooks breaking after a sacrifice

    The entire self unhook mechanic

  • The originals are usually the most common and played survivors. They also mostly have more outfits than Feng. I believe they showed stats and Feng was third. Claudette was first

  • I doubt the devs are going to redesign a relatively new killer, just because a handful of survivors complain part of his power is "unfun'

  • The stats for Wesker starts the same day he releases, and covers the first few weeks of the killer existing. The stats are tainted by the fact people did not know how to face him day 1. You shouldn't be looking at a character doing well at launch as an evidence of being too strong. People get better as they learn to face him.

I wish the devs would not include stats for a killer released the exact same month. It shouldn't take a genius to see the issue of this.

  • Statistics is a field that people spend years in college for, and get degrees for. I'm not going to sit here and pretend random DBD player on the forums is a master statistician who understands the nuances of statistics, and the application of it. No, in most cases here, it's just someone who wants to insist "THIS NUMBER BIGGER THAN THIS NUMBER! SEE! I AM RIGHT!"

These statistics aren't useful for the average person. If they want to give statistics, then they should explain why the stats exist. Just tossing numbers and going "COME TO YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS!" is honestly just destructive, and leads to absolutely nothing but arguments.

  • There really is no reason to have suicide on hook. Self unhooking is an archaic mechanic that could safely be removed. I am sure we'd get a mysterious number of people complaining because their totally legit slippery meat build was invalidated, but, we should probably face the fact that self unhooking is almost exclusively used to suicide and dodge the DC penalty. Just remove the mechanic, but keep it for deliverance.

  • I don't understand why they release this stuff. It's largely useless to the players, and results in nothing but fallacy riddled arguments and dozens of threads screaming the game is proven unfair. Never do these stats actually help anything. You probably shouldn't tell laymen the stats, unless you're going to give them a class in statistics.

  • I truly don't understand why they release these things.

  • @TheArbiter said:

The game should go to EGC at 20 minutes anyways to prevent any kind of "hostage" situation. Plus a match shouldn't be lasting that long to begin with.

This. I have thousands of hours and the amount of times I have had games go over 20 minutes can probably be counted on two hands.

  • People DC for every reason possible, and virtually none of them are valid outside of hackers/hostage holding. Behavior shouldn't be looking into how to give into the demands of children who ruin games. They should just make a DCer queue where you get put into a low priority queue with other DCers.

  • @Rovend said:

If you ban people for DCing you will lose a % of the playerbase.

Plus you dont always know why people Dc, would you ban someone whose internet was down for 2 sec and were kicked out?

If you ban people for cheating then you will lose a % of the playerbase.

No one wants to play with DCers besides other DCers. Bans should be handed out for repeated DCs. If your connection is so unstable that you get banned due to it, then you shouldn't be playing anyway.

  • You have to let them win

Then maybe survivors should go find something they enjoy.

  • The last thing this game needs is more toxicity

  • No. I'm not a child who ruins others games when I don't get my way

It doesn’t work like that. you don’t get to decide what’s cheating, otherwise people can just claim other intended specific game features as cheating as well.

it’s not cheating, end of it. This is not a matter of opinion.

He can decide if he thinks it's cheating. Very little you can do about it.

  • And then all the "GIVE ME COMMS" threads turn into "DEVS, FORCE PLAYERS TO USE COMMS! IT'S NOT FAIR THAT MY TEAM IS HANDICAPPED BECAUSE SOMEONE DISABLED VOICE!" No thanks. If you force in voice, it won't be optional and people will get griefed or treated like crap if they don't want to listen to 14 year olds scream. I'm not interested in being told I am breaking some made up rule by not using voice.

  • Making BT basekit was a huge mistake. Now everyone just demands every perk be made basekit now. I'm guessing it will end when survivors have 20 basekit perks.

Dude are you actually serious? Are you going to just blatantly ignore all the people that clearly hate going against tunneling? It is so obvious that most people hate going against a tunneling and camping killer. There are already enough killer players that go out of their way to not tunnel and camp, because they know that they are cheap and unfun tactics. If you enjoy tunneling, then great for you. But clearly most survivor players don't.

People do not want to learn to play against such strategies because they are insanely unfun to go against. How does that not reach your brain? Camping and tunneling are exactly the reason I have to wait in queue way too long as killer at most times. Why would I or anyone try to "improve" against tactics that suck any kind of fun out of the game? I know people like you try to make it look like survivors are just bad and don't want to adapt and learn how to play better, but the actual truth is that survivor players just do not want to play against something that sucks all the fun out of the game.

And nothing will change that. And until BHVR wakes up and adds some more, proper nerfs to tunneling, and especially camping, killers will continue to enjoy much longer queue times than survivors. And as a killer main, I also have to say I am getting sick and tired of these queue times.

If people hate an aspect of a game then it might be a good time for them to go do something else.

  • No clue why they deactivate the serum for killer, but don't deactivate the survivor items. It's just bizarre. Neither should be deactivated at all, but it's strange they went to the trouble of specifically disabling one side. My only idea is that they are concerned about how it might work with killers as they are being released.
