Killers should NOT be the stressful role, I firmly believe that. This game is inspired by horror movies and literally the only killer I can think of who was mildly stressed out was poor Leatherface who just wanted to protect his home from invaders and provide for his family! Every other killer though is having a blast because they’re well aware they have the power and control. It’s the survivors who are stressed out and crapping their pants and it’s ONLY through team work, determination, willpower, and crafty thinking that any survivors STAY alive.

    That’s how it should be.

But instead playing killer in dbd is incredibly stressful. You NEED to have a prepared load out and any mistakes you make can cost you the game. This is not even going into the horrendously unfair pip system for killer THAT IS ENTIRELY IN SURVIVOR HANDS. One dc or one suicide and good luck trying to please the Entity.

You can literally play survivor with no perks at all, let alone any combination of perks, and you can STILL survive (and quite easily get adept). The ONLY mildly stressful thing about survivor is if you have the unfortunate luck to be hooked in the beginning, and you risk leaving the match with less than 5000 bp, or worse yet - OTHER survivors try to ruin the experience.

It says something when I choose to play survivor because it’s genuinely less stressful than killer. I want to be scared as survivor. I want to earn my survival - surviving the trial is quite literally a bonus for survivors - it truly does not matter if you live or die beyond your personal goals. Killers aren’t afforded that luxury by the game.

Dude, you get it. Now that I play more survivor than killer, I want survivors nerfed even more. It's way too easy to escape, even playing solo and running a half-strength build so I can loot chests. I shoot up to high purple/red ranks with almost no effort on survivor, and I still don't even know how to loop or do anything but move to the right spots to get gens done/unhooks/totems. I have a full skillset on killer and depending on my luck, I either end up hardstuck in purple or sweating my ass off to get into low reds by reset. I feel like in my mind I'm a much better killer than survivor, but the rankings don't lie. So I can either assume I'm way off on my skills in my head, or survivor is WAY easier than killer. Make me scared to play survivor again devs :P

Solo in any multiplayer game always sucks just look at games like Apex, GTA and MHW if you aren't playing with people you know you're gonna get a bunch trolls and noobs not doing anything to benefit you.

The only problem with that is also that SWF really screws up the ranking system. Any ranking system is contingent upon random matchmaking with similarly-skilled players to be 100% sure you deserve to be ranked where you are. If you run with the same three other people every time, your rank could reflect anyone or all of you in your group. The same can be said of people running premades in Overwatch or something else, but still their ranking system there is way more in-depth and makes sure the matchmaking tests your premade appropriately by giving you opponents that are close to your average SR.

The devs were heavily pressured into introducing SWF basically at gunpoint by survivor mains, so the fact that the devs didn't have it at launch means they didn't consider it in their concept of the game. That means there is a very serious problem that they'll never be able to address, so we'll keep hearing the "Well, when I play SWF we aren't tryhards, we screw around and sandbag each other" bit, and until you show me several VODs of you not communicating like a tryhard, I'm not going to believe it. Every single time I see a streamer in SWF they are doing a minimum of communicating the killer ID, location, and current chase status. They may be drinking or screwing around a bit, but they almost always still all escape and always give each other info they wouldn't have without an aura-reading perk.

The gap between solo and a good swf can be huge.

A good set of solo players can do better than an average swf team.

The problem with good swf teams is not just about the comms or info but how they select the players. They know the skill level of each player, will synergies perks and coordinate on the spot changing up how they play and reacting to a situation. They are a team working as one not caring as much about their own points or emblems but more about trying to get everyone out

Solo players even if someone has kindred or other perks still for the most part chose to do what is best for themselves. See someone running for the save and they think they can get it first they will go for it as they want the blood and emblem points.

Even if voice chat was added this wouldn't change as you are still matched with players you have no idea about and how well they can play or chose to do. This is why voice chat is a bad idea as it just leads to trolling, others constantly telling people how they should be playing and with regions with multiple languages not knowing what is happening anyway.

It is VERY rare that a group of solos can beat your average SWF, but possible. I play solo pretty frequently and enjoy the fact that it's a guess as to whether I should stay on this gen or go for the hook. I enjoy trying to communicate with people in-game just using crouches/points/follow-mes, and almost always do pretty well combining in-game emotes with pre-game chat for some basic strategy. Efficiency, and being able to do that without comms, is the mark of a good survivor in this game IMO. If you aren't walking halfway to a hook and having another survivor grab them in front of you, that's 30, 40 seconds you could have stayed on a gen. Someone in discord can just say "I've got them" and boom, you have half a gen done when you otherwise wouldn't. Even light comms make a HUGE difference in this game.

  • I don't really have a dog in the ultra-rare race because I very rarely use them, but if you're screwing up all killer URs to the point where very rare/rare addons are better with zero downside, you should want the same for survivors. BNP is a straight-up buff to holding M1 and hitting skill checks, but maybe it should flip your skillchecks around for the duration of that toolbox's life, or take away 5-10% progress if you miss one of the skillchecks. Maybe using an insta should slow your run speed down for a few seconds. See how it would work if we did that to survivors? It seems pretty ridiculous now, right? 7k BP for something that at best will help you SOME of the time.

  • Survivor needs to be made more stressful IMO. It's telling that streamers always play survivor when they want to interact with chat in any way. The whole idea of the horror genre, not just video games, is the SURVIVORS are supposed to be terrified/stressed, not the killer. It is really backward that this game works the opposite way. Killers have to be wary of survivors because of the amount of power they hold, especially with strong items.

  • I think it's great when I hear some SWF just play around and have fun with it, but that absolutely does not speak for the majority of SWF groups. Even those who claim they aren't tryhards are calling out who the killer is, where they're being chased/if they're being chased, totem spawns, etc. Simply watch a survivor main streamer and see how even in their most casual matches in SWF they are CONSTANTLY communicating. Since a lot of SWF groups are heavily into survivor streamers, it's easy to assume they're at least on that same level of communication most of the time. No one wants to admit the HUGE advantage SWF with comms gives you in this game, but it is, in fact, an advantage whether you're utilizing it to its fullest potential or not.

  • My problem with considering Kindred/NoLB a buff to solo survivors is you're sacrificing a perk slot that SWF don't have to, so it's still a huge disadvantage to be only running 3/4 of the perks a SWF group can. There isn't really a solution to this balance-wise because the devs aren't going to start banning people for running discord, so we just have to accept that solo survivor has and always will suck.

  • @pemberley said:

I think people shouldn’t put such heavy stock into what streamers say and form their own opinions and thoughts first. There’s such a creepy undercurrent of people just repeating and following what streamers say like mindless sheep and following what they do like some weird cult. Like seriously, Otz or Tru3 says something and then mysteriously everyone else starts repeating it. Or like in Otz’s case, he just smiles and laughs and people go “uwu marry me Otzichan uwu!”

These are just regular people playing in front of a screen, they don’t have some magical authority because they play to an audience and they might be good at the game.

I agree with you to an extent, but players like tru3 and Otz who really try to play both sides and see multiple viewpoints carry more weight with their opinions IMO. Like you can just throw a football around for fun with your buddies but still listen if Patrick Mahomes teaches you how to throw a perfect spiral on TV. It doesn't inherently ruin the fun of an activity to pay attention to the top tier of said activity when they speak, just like you said, you can't take their word as truth. You should still listen though and form your own opinions instead of sticking your head in the dirt like an ostrich though :)

  • @Bingbongbong said:

I'm not that invested in the situation but to be honest Otz's video hit the nail on the head. Any Killer can do well, He played Trapper without Ruin and got similar results, That doesn't mean that trappers a powerhouse now.

True's pretty stubborn in his opinions, I think it's an ego thing but I hope he can realize that just because a killer does well doesn't make them stronger than other killers just stronger than the survivors you faced in that particular trial.

To be fair, Otz is a HUGE brain trapper, maybe one of the best out there. Trapper isn't in the meta, but since he mains him, he augments the killer's abilities pretty substantially. I'm not nearly the same level killer as these two, but you could watch my gameplay and, in a vacuum, think that Hag is OP because she used to be my main. I definitely outperform my Billy, Freddy, and Ghostface matches when I play Hag, but she simply works better for me because my eyes are getting older and my mechanics suck. My point is, some people make strategic killers look amazing, but it's just how they play versus another typical killer, or like in my case, we're forced to play differently because we suck :)

  • I mean it's two very above-average DBD streamers trying to sort out the difference between viability and a top-tier killer. One used data gathered with mostly a pink/purple addon combo, and the other used his main with yellow/brown addons. I call it a wash myself. Wraith is viable, but definitely not even top five (Nurse, Spirit, Ghostface, Freddy, Billy, probably even Huntress above him), and even less of a top-tier killer if you give the other top killers their best addons. Wraith's playstyle depends on bodyblocking, which isn't incredibly easy or reliable unless you're pretty good at predicting where survivors go and know how to position yourself correctly, and for the average player, they'd get WAY more mileage out of another killer (specifically Ghostface if you must play sneakily).

  • @Peanits said:

Have you considered combining it with other effects? Toss on swing chains and you've got up to 12%. Thanataphobia can add up to another 16% (total of 28%), and Dying Light can raise that up even further. And that's only considering action speed modifiers, you could also slap Ruin and PGTW on to slow generators down even more.

On it's own, it's no big deal. But stacking everything together makes it way too much.

It's just really unfortunate that you guys took BOTH addons, a total of 9k BP investment, down to under what the yellow addon used to do on its own. It feels extreme to those of us who never abused them and enjoyed synergies between other addons, like the paintbrush ultra-rare, which is now pretty much useless because being in dream world with just jump rope now doesn't really do anything. If it was too difficult to make the addons not stack with each other, maybe let the game roll a bit longer instead of doing a quick fix (which I'm sure you guys won't revert if you figured out how to target the addons alone) and devaluing a killer's addon list, which is already pretty weak as far as addons go. That's why everyone universally used the slowdown addons just like every Hag player uses range and setting speed addons.

  • Shirtless Leatherface and Clown would both be amazing. They'd really have to nail the jiggle physics though or else it wouldn't be worth the $10.

  • I'd adjust your idea to someone else needing to be hooked first, as protection hits would deactivate decisive and make a core element to survivor play work against the player, which isn't a good feeling in a game. They can keep 60 seconds time, and maybe the idea about deactivating it when you hop in a locker would work, but I think that may be too far.

  • I'd be fine with either allowing them to be earned in future events or adding them to the store for auric cells. You can get current event items with cells, and I don't feel like I was ripped off when I earned enough serum vials to get a couple of skins for free. It just seems to value older events over newer ones to not go back and make those available somehow.

  • Dice for Ace, a little Hag phantasm doll like Claudette's, a finger keychain for Clown, brass knuckles for David, and a lighter for Bill.

  • Yeah once you learn the map it's severely survivor-sided. If you're playing claudette you can disappear into the dense foliage and never be found. I'm already winning more than half of my matches on that map, and I suck at survivor.

  • I think an easier fix would be to just balance SWF by only allowing members of that group to use three perks instead of four. Most of the problem with SWF is they have a free perk slot where a lot of solo survivors run aura perks, whether for information on the killer or other survivors. That would also force SWF groups to specialize each member further instead of all just running the same four meta perks.

Cool, so we should be expecting some kind of nerf to address freddy right? I mean in this kind of mindset at least.

Way out of left field. Are we nerfing Freddy next? Survivor mains need to get together and agree on one between Oni, Freddy, Billy, and Ghostface so they can complain incessantly and get one of them nerfed.

  • @BenZ0 said:

Thats not a noed hate or balance thread, I am simply asking why are YOU using noed, if you use it obviously. I personally and honestly dont like noed and would never use it because its way to crutch and braindead for me. Thats my personal opinion to that, However I can understand if ppl have reasons like "they are bad in this game, want to punish genrush etc". The reason "I am new to this killer and want to learn him" is not a option because you cant learn a killer if you immidiatly kill the survivor. Anyway, let me know and share your experiences!

I only used it like two matches for the challenge because BHVR held my sweet battle pass rewards hostage, but some nice survivor fed me my second kill in EGC so I could stop using the filthy perk.

  • The only DS nerf I hear people asking for is for it to go away once the killer hooks someone else, i.e. not tunneling. I don't feel like that's unreasonable at all.

  • That has my vote too. The game is unfun if you have zero control over who your teammates are. Some of us are fine with carrying low ranks, but some of us would like to play with and against people close to our own ranks. I don't get how this has become so demonized within this community.

  • This is the quality I'd like them to slowly bring the other killers up to. Custom break animations, unique chase music, better moris would all be great on top of tuning up the underperforming killers. They'll probably never give the older killers a serious pass like that, but one can dream I suppose.

  • @Science_Guy said:

So, going off of all of that..

I'm going to co-sign off on a few obvious ones: The Oni, Samurai, Ancestor all seem possible.

Reading over the lore, I have two of my own guesses: The Mask, The Guardian.

BTW, usually names are pretty simple, but if this one turns out to be some obscure Japanese word, I think "close enough" guesses should/will count.

My out-there guesses are The Guardian or The Keeper (guarding the ancestral shrine/garden), and I like The Fury and The Oni as well. I hope this killer is B-A tier so I can actually play him/her a bunch :)

I know you asked him but I got called long distance camper once that should tell you something lol

I've been called camper for trapping hooks and escape routes as Hag. The rules people have in their minds are pretty funny sometimes.

  • Same. I never SWF but I'll make an exception here if you're on PC.

  • Definitely bad teammates are worse than the rest. I can always excuse a killer facecamping me because maybe I did something to deserve it, maybe he had a few bad games before, etc. But when the three stooges are full map away and let me hit second state on hook, it is incredibly frustrating.

  • Some killers think flashlights are toxic. For me, I only really think someone is trashy/BMing if they're teabagging like idiots every time they do something right or have the flashlight clicky macro crap. Facecamping as a killer is definitely toxic though IMO, so it's a bit funny he called you toxic there. Congrats on getting something done against a facecamp though.

swf only make a few select perks useless, mainly blindness inflicting or information denying perks like Hex: Third Seal or Knock Out.

Well, and the fact that it completely obliterates two killers' powers (Hag and Trapper). It sucks that while SWF does negatively impact gameplay, you can't really do anything to it without making a bunch of people quit.

I guess but if there is a nurf in the future then we will know that the vast majority of players called for it because developers don't just wake up one day and be like I'm going to nurf this to annoy killers.

I mean, they kinda do. It seems to only take one or two survivor main streamers to complain about something to mobilize their forces to flood the forums with their demands. The amount of crying I've seen from otherwise great survivor streamers recently is disgusting. They definitely aren't hearing from the "majority" of players because most of them probably don't even know the forums exist. People just hear someone else say something is OP and immediately adopt that as their own opinion. Again, no one was saying a thing about Spirit until they nerfed Nurse, and survivors are bloodthirsty for nerfs, so they turned to the next best target to weaken the overall roster of killers. Otherwise you guys would have been complaining about Spirit this whole time, which you weren't.

  • @suli033 said:

"fun" is what the casual or average player looks for it dosent matter what you individually look for in the game as a singular entity, it is about what the majority want not the minority and if that's a spirit nurf then it's because it was decided by a larger group of people because at the end of the day the game is a business.

Not really man. People ask for some ridiculous crap, and the majority of people on the forums don't hold the same opinions as the rest who just play the game and enjoy it. Pandering to the masses blindly is a very dangerous business to get into, especially when you pander to a very vocal minority of people crying for nerfs because their favorite streamers have jumped on the bandwagon after they finally got their wish with Nurse.

Don't come crying to us when your queue times crash once you finally get your wish and nerf every single killer out of existence. You can't expect killers to stroll into every match and just take a loss because survivor mains are fragile and can't possibly imagine ever losing. We will either quit playing killer or quit playing altogether, leaving you with the consequences of short-sighted balance changes thrown to the masses. "Fun" is very clearly only contingent on winning for both you and the rest of people complaining about this, and it will destroy any chance this game may have had at being competitive. Good survivors have been winning against Spirit and Nurse for a long time, so it's just funny to me that now that the devs finally caved to nerfing the top tier, survivors are snowballing into cries for a nerf to literally every single viable killer. Just be honest at least and say you're not looking to have fun, but you guys just want to win all the time.

  • @jmaximo93 said:

Killer/survivor blah blah blah main here. I understand that both sides need some balancing. I personally think that there should be a 5% gen speed reduction for every player in a SWF group to better balance the game. I also think that Killers should have a safety net when people DC so that they can still pip.

I also believe, however, that killers have some balancing of their own. While I don't like playing against PB Spirit, I don't think the Spirit as a whole should be nerfed, just that add on. Same with Iridescent Head. It's easy enough to say that you can loop the huntress and has a good counter but against red rank, 1k hours+ huntresses that's a lot easier said than done. On top of that, it's just not enjoyable to play against. Going up against a hex ruin irisdecent 3 hatchet huntress is worse than PB Spirit in my opinion. They should make it where you can only have 1 hatchet and gor that to supercede other addons.

Both sides aren't perfect and we need to realize that if we want to continue enjoying this game.

I agree with you man, as a fellow "both sides" player. The addons for Nurse, Spirit, Huntress, and Billy should and should have (in the case of Nurse) been reworked. If they screw with Spirit's base kit, it is going to massively screw up the balance of the game, leaving Freddy and Billy as top tier, both of which are very, very loopable. I hope survivors don't truly get what they're asking for when they cry for constant nerfs, because playing survivor is going to get extremely boring if they keep nerfing top tier killers without buffing the rest.

  • Do you guys realize how unfun a lot of survivor builds are to face? I don't think centering balance around a nebulous concept like "fun" is a good idea in any game. I personally like close matches and feeling like the win or loss could come at any moment. It seems a lot, however, base fun on escaping a majority of the time and winning as frequently as possible. That's fine, but a crazy thing to try to balance around it being "fun" when that can only mean survivors win.

I enjoy facing Spirit myself, just like I enjoyed facing Nurses pre-nerf. Yeah it's a challenge, but I want the challenge and most other killers can't provide that without the rest of my team throwing and being potatoes. I like matches where all four of us are solid players and the killer is viable enough to still make it a game. Take away Spirit and then Freddy/Billy are top tier, both of whom people want to nerf as well. I don't really worry about 80% of the killer roster when I'm playing survivor, and taking the few that do provide a good match will kill the game.

  • @derperson said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/809897#Comment_809897

This is how balancing works. Your decisions in perk selection is what makes the game interesting and fun, because sometimes you're not optimized for some situation and you're challenged. If survivors had a build that gave them counters to every killer then the game would be incredibly boring because everyone would run that build.

Also, I don't see how you change these mechanics of the spirit without ruining her being fun to play.

You don't change those without ruining the fun of playing her, but no one really cares about that. Any changes to her base kit that make it easier for survivors to read her are NERFs. That is exactly the definition of what a nerf is, lowering the capabilities/power of a killer. It won't stop until survivors can tapdance their way through every match with zero threat. No one has even been able to take a breath after Nurse getting smacked with the nerf stick and we're already on to the next best killer trying to nerf her into the ground. Yeah, let's make her glow when she phases, force feed you noise notifications whenever she enters/exits phasing, lower her movement speed, make all her addons useless, and hell, while we're at it, buff the speed survivors do gens. Sound good to you guys? It's just getting a bit ridiculous considering NO ONE was complaining about Spirit until you guys got your wish in taking down Nurse. It just seems survivor mains want zero viable killers, and it's a bit sad.

  • I can empathize with SWF being frustrating to face, but the devs are never going to make any changes to it because a lot of people would quit over it. Adrenaline is also frustrating, but fine as far as balance goes. It's just more encouragement to stop those gens from being done, and from the survivor side, it can let the guy who looped the killer all game actually have a chance to escape when the gates are powered. Nothing sucks worse than maxing out boldness/chase points but getting nothing else done and then getting one-hooked/face camped while your three teammates teabag their way out of the gates.

What do you in particular mean when you say "win"? Like you win as killer if you get more bp than 3 other people right? Or do you have some other objective like you win as killer if you survive the match?

Killer is the winner, they live forever doing what they love, killing.

I have my win condition as a PiP as killer because that's how the game defines a win, loss, or tie. Survivor is different for me because I'm very dissatisfied with a lot of matches I play where it gives me a point, so I disagree with the game sometimes on that. Bloodpoints mean nothing because you can definitely dePiP while getting more points than all the survivors.

But my whole point was regardless of the win condition I'm more looking for close matches than to just dominate every game to feed my ego. I want to have fun, and it's no fun when you either face meta SWF with comms that ruin your day or total random potatoes that might as well be throwing/farming. I want more opponents in between those two extremes, and the same goes for my survivor matches.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

80% Survival Rate is due to a poor statistic. It takes the Rank after the game, not before the game. So if you derank and die, you are not counted towards the Rank 1-statistic.

Even if you throw out actual rank 1 as an outlier the chart is still in the 70s for rank 2 and 3, and that's considering with this information you know rank 2 survival stats are tanked a bit from all the deranking 1s counting against it. The numbers still stand because the trend is established by every other legit datapoint leading up to it. Also, if this were a significant enough portion of the sample size to really affect the numbers, you'd see a dip in survival rates from rank 3 to 2, then a sharp rise going to 1.

  • I've faced full SWF in red ranks as killer and the gens go WAY too quickly as it is. Killers need slowdown perks and addons because otherwise you'd win even more than 80% of the time with all matches done in 10 minutes or fewer. I know it feels frustrating from the survivor side, but the overall stats of how frequently killers can actually win a match at the highest level are terrible.

I've been playing both sides evenly recently (not playing as many hours as I used to, so around purple ranks this month on both), and I'm never really that stressed playing survivor. I just don't see tons of close/competitive matches on either side anymore, and that definitely contributes to why people quit the game. Beefing up the cast of killers overall and bonking Spirit with a slight nerf bat would be great with me tbh. I just want a more competitive game and not landslides going either for or against me. Not sure if anyone else has that experience, but just what I observe :)

  • @justarandy said:

I see only spirit nerf posts, no clue what other killer nerf posts you see.

I mean you can look up in this very same post and see people asking for a Freddy nerf because his slowdown is "too much." Rank 1 survivors have an 80% survival rate, and that was before the nurse nerf, so no, they don't need to nerf Spirit before they do anything else like people are screaming for. They need to buff Doctor, Leatherface, Clown, Wraith, etc. before they take down the last really viable killer against a red rank SWF. Otherwise you'll see that survival stat jump to something terrifying like 90%, which is terrible in any game. Just to clarify, I don't play Spirit unless I have a daily, and have never played Nurse. I just think overall killer viability should be increased, then they can pull Spirit down to whatever makes people happy.

  • Even if working as intended, a rank 12 killer against 3 rank 6 and a rank 12 is just stupid. I'm not sure what they're thinking with this, but I've been on the winning and losing side of stupid matchmaking and it feels crappy either way. To me, a stupidly easy win is as bad as a terrible loss. That matchmaking range should come down to 4 in either direction regardless of what it does to queue times. I'd much rather wait an extra few minutes to not have my time wasted with games that aren't close/competitive wire-to-wire.

  • Yeah they're not even to the certification process yet unless their communication is really that bad. They should announce today where they are (otherwise I'm not sure what they meant by "early next week"), so we'll see what's going on. Just don't get your hopes up, and this is on BHVR, not Sony. Several other devs have event patches that shipped on time with no issues on the Playstation, so this isn't on them.

  • I find that survivor queues are great during the day up until 3 or 4p when all the school kids' SWF groups log in, and then the killer queues go from good to awesome once everyone else gets off work at 5p.

  • My guess is based on a hunch I have that the devs will want to announce as soon as the patch is ready on their end to let people know any delays from then on are on Sony/Microsoft's certification processes. My guess is best-case they'll announce this afternoon that their work is all but done and they'll be sending it off for certification tomorrow morning, i.e. at best Thursday, and at worst, we get an update today or tomorrow saying they need a few more days and that would mean next Tuesday. I don't work there, so this is all based on assumptions, but I don't think it's likely we'll get it any earlier than Halloween.

  • Maybe a 5-10% chance it'll be tomorrow. I'd guess Thursday at best and next Tuesday is more probable.

  • I get that sometimes when playing survivor. I also noticed the sound is a bit screwy in general right now (there are spots where you can move less than a foot and have a gen/breathing sound go from full volume to nothing).

  • I can't speak for most people, but most of my frustration is in the planning behind this event/patch that led to this. I know the devs are working hard and are definitely motivated to get this fixed, but this massive patch should have been pushed to November to begin with and let the Halloween event run its course first. Big patches will always have the potential for the biggest problems, so I'm not sure why the team gambled on this large a scale. I don't think anyone reasonable is mad about the existence of bugs or the delay itself, but we sure as hell have an argument about the planning/communication.

  • I hate this sort of fan gatekeeping I see going on across ALL types of fandom. You can support a game, sports team, etc. and critique them and want better from them BECAUSE you care. The "if you don't like it, leave" crap is how you get people calling your bluff and quitting, leaving you with garbage long queue times and a bad experience.

  • I'm still just sticking with the fact that trying to push this huge update at the same time as the event was a terrible idea. They know by now a big update could have huge problems, and you know, could have pushed it back to November to let the event run its course first. Now we have a really vague post saying there are problems and they're fixing them, and most of us are now left to assume the worst in that we either will have a Halloween event at Thanksgiving, or maybe even no event at all. But hey, the new skins are available in the store for cash in the meantime if you want to blow 10 bucks per outfit to actually use them before Halloween...

  • The stat on SWF is terribly skewed because the number of players in lower ranks, especially around an event of any sort, will be MUCH higher than the pool of red ranks where SWF is usually the biggest complaint from killers. New players usually don't have friends with whom they can play/SWF, so you have a huge portion of the sample that drags that percentage down. I'd like to see the SWF incidence based on rank similar to how they broke down survival rates. That survival rates by rank graph is probably the most telling stat they put out, because 78% escape rate on PC at rank 1 is INSANE.

  • I wish they hadn't tried to tie the archives/rift in with the event. I don't think it would have taken a ton of changes to plop in the point events for hooks from last year's event for killers, and grab the point event from the summer event for the gens with a new skin. This has to be on the rift/archives being added IMO. I get that they want to really draw people into doing the battle pass, but the regular rewards would have been enough to do that later when they can implement it cleanly. They could have kept the vial collection methods similar to last year and probably pushed it out on time. Let's just hope we're not running a Halloween event at Thanksgiving.
