The old animations were outdated, but they looked fluid and more human. The new injured animation is so stiff. And the upright animation kinda creeps me out. The new animations were supposed to make the game more immersive, but the survivors don't look the least bit frightened and move so strangely. I like the falling animation and the bleed-out one, but the injured and upright should never have been released the way they are.
I'm not saying to revert to the old ones permanently, but I think it would be a good idea to do so for a temporary time until some of the animation is tweaked and ironed out. But that's just my view.

Yes they are in this situation. The killer is choosing to do nothing else but clearly grief one person by denying them the ability to play at all.
However the survivors should end the game and get out; so that at least the EGC can happen. Choosing to refuse to do that puts you basically in the same boat as the killer; where you would be collectively griefing this one person after it's clear you are not doing anything, and you are now all holding the game hostage together.
If they go and open the gates, at least the game will progress and things will conclude; putting at least the survivors in the innocent category for letting things end.
Yeah, sorry, I initially missed that and added that in my edit. I wanted to clarify that the killer wasn't the one being held hostage since they have the power to naturally end the game when they want to. I do agree that the best thing the survivors can do is open the gates, leave, and report for griefing.
-
@MeatBycicle said:
You could open the gates and leave, you are holding the game hostage.
Actually they aren't. The killer can open the gates at this stage of the game whenever they want to to start endgame collapse. They are choosing not to. No one is holding the game hostage.
Edit: I guess you could make the argument that the killer and three other survivors are holding the game hostage for the girl in the corner but not for each other.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate the fact that the paper the Blight is holding says:

When survivor's escape the entity's realm, very little time in the real world had passed and their memories of the trials are altered. They don't quite remember what it was like or even know if it really happened. They would wake up from nightmares in a cold sweat, wondering why the dream felt so real.
When Meg runs, she finds herself looking over her shoulder, like someone is chasing her. Dwight is on edge when he's alone but he isn't quite sure why. Whenever Claudette studies medicinal plants, she wonders why it feels so familiar. When Jake walks through the woods, he finds himself moving as quietly as he can even if there's nothing dangerous around. They would see faces and hear voices in their dreams that sound so familiar but they can't name them. They constantly feel like they're forgetting something important but can never remember what.

He screams with his gross old terribly animated sunflower face after every action.
It is extremely annoying for killer and survivor.

The past few months of solo playing has made me consider playing only swf I feel like I’m doing most of the work and I’m almost always at the top of the leaderboard..it’s also extremely frustrating when my team mates go down within 5-15 seconds or drop pallets almost immediately or sit there and wait I just want a good ranking system
Solo Q has always been garbage. I can't say for the state of it now though since I've taken a bit of a break from the game.
-
I honestly don't know how he came to the conclusion that such a game-breaking perk is okay.

It seems a little convoluted to me. I don't think a pink add-on should have to rely on a build to be good. It just wouldn't be worth the bloodpoints IMO.

You can disagree all you want, you'd still be wrong.
It ensures nothing is done because nothing needs to be done. This is called fairness. There is nothing wrong with Ruin/Undying. Is it powerful? Yes. Is it overpowered? No. It has counters, and perks/items/addons to facilitate said counters. Unlike DS/UB, which has no counter. In order for ruin/undying to be as powerful as DS/UB, Undying would have to not be a hex totem. Even then, it would still have a counter; and yes, it's largely the same nerds using DS/UB saying Ruin/Undying are "boring". As if DS/UB hasn't been boring for the last 4 years.
Strawman: an intentionally misrepresented proposition that is set up because it is easier to defeat than an opponent's real argument.
Except - I'm not misrepresenting anything. I'm confronting it head on, using their own logic in reverse. Learn what strawman means before you attempt an argument, bud.
There it is, nevermind. Yes, you did indeed use a strawman. You stated that the same people arguing against Ruin Tinkerer Undying are the ones who use DS Unbreakable without any real proof so you could write the post off as hypocritical. Maybe some do and those people are hypocritical, but to write off the entire post on that pretense is strawmanning.
Fairness based on BS is a dumb way to balance things and only works if both sides use the BS. Spirit with an ebony mori and R/U/T is perfectly fair against SWF death squads but is broken against a team of solos. R/U/T is overkill on high mobility killers against a team of solos, especially when the killer can see if you do literally any totem. All the counters rely on communication and coordination that is only consistent in a SWF which is commonly stated as OP (which I agree with.) The counters aren't consistent for solo teams and a lot of it is based on getting lucky RNG in a game already overflowing with it.

The diversion in this case is warranted. Completely.
It's not that DS/Unbreakable exists, it's that killers have had to deal with that literally broken combo for years, yet after barely 2 months, the same nerds using that combo want ruin/undying nerfed. It's the one-sided hypocrisy of the matter that needs pointing out, not so much the builds themselves.
I got a notification saying you responded but nothings showing up. IDK if it was deleted or something.

I disagree. By using these diversion tactics, it just assures that nothing is done and we don't get anywhere. Ideally, both of these combos should be adjusted. DS Unbreakable should've been changed along time ago, I admit, but that lies on the devs. There has been plenty of feedback to change it but for some reason they change Discordance. But to say that the same people using DS UB are the ones who say Ruin Undying Tinkerer should be nerfed is a strawman.
-
The amount of people trying to divert the conversation is crazy. Why do people try to justify broken stuff with more broken stuff?
"Keys need a nerf."
"BuT kILLeRs HaVe MoRis."
"Undying, Ruin, Tinkerer is broken on high mobility killers."
"But DS UnBrEaKaBle."
If this is how we discuss things, it's no wonder the game is still a broken, unbalanced mess. This community needs to stop thinking only about their side and start trying to balance things for everyone.

Is it because you aren't competent enough in your own skills that you just want out as fast as possible because you aren't able to have an interesting match? Or is it because you want to flex your 2 inches by going "He he, gen go vroom"
I honestly don't understand the point of just making a match as short as possible. Like can you be any more boring of a player? Make interesting plays and have good chases. You're all complaining about how boring it is to hold one button the whole game but you sure seem content to do it anyways, make up your minds.
I do gens because I don't trust my teammates to. I also do gens because it's the main objective for survivors to win. I'll do other things if I think it's necessary, like look for totems if the killer has a hex or take aggro from a teammate who's being focused. But other then that, if I'm not being chased I'll do gens.

Whilst I appreciate the sentiment on this thread, I'm sorry but the information I have is that there are no refunds as per our EULA, any item purchased can go on sale at any time.
I don't mean any of this toward you because I know you don't make these decisions, but this is low. I'm extremely disappointed right now. The consumers deserve better then this, BHVR.
-
The EULA protects them from legal backlash. That's it. It does not protect them from people getting justifiably pissed. BHVR isn't entitled to anyone's continued support, especially after treating their customers like this. People saying they're going to uninstall if nothing is done is their right and is more then justified after this.
What they did was crummy, man. While I agree that they don't technically "have" to refund anything, it's something that they should do out of basic respect for their consumers. And if they don't and those customers leave, that's BHVR's fault for scamming their supporters.

The game can continue, but taking a game in hostage it's not about blocking it.
Firstly, camping and tunneling is taking a survivor in hostage, he can't play objectives or anything as you are still on his back, so you ruin the game for him.
Secondly, when you are done camping/tunneling and then killing this guy, sure the game can continue but if you have an efficient killer, there will still be 2 or 3 gens left with 3 survivors. They won't be able to finish it.
Tunneling and camping till killing is a dirty strategy that works too well. As i have said, if you use a tier S killer and use this strategy, it's a 3K 95% of the time, unless you are a really bad killer.
It's an EZ win, no mindgame or skill involved, just using a cheap mechanic to win. It's like using a wallhack on Valorant.
But hey, not to be rude, but you are defending a strategy for low skilled killers, so i don't expect anything good from you.
Whatever, good killers in this game are really rare. Players that can 3k+ playing properly, without tunneling or camping are few, less than 5% of killers i encounter in red ranks.
All other killers are trash, can't even use their brain at a pallet loop, so they use cheap mechanics to win their games and they think they are good lol...
The main problem in this game is not really the balance, it's the community. Everytime it's possible to use a perk/add-ons that will give a too big advantage for one killer, most of players use it.
Exactly the same than IRL, Masks are compulsory but i still see dumb ppl wearing it under their nose. IQ lower than 80, might be the average IQ on DbD aswell.
Taking the game hostage IS about blocking it. It's literally if the game is in a position where it cannot continue unless one side allows it to. Like if the killer body blocks two survivors in the basement and goes AFK. Tunneling is not taking anyone hostage. Does it suck to be tunneled? Yes, but it isn't bannable. It's the killers job to keep survivors off their objective. So if he is keeping you from doing the objective, he's doing what he is supposed to.
If there are two gens left and three survivors, they definitely are able to finish it. Having two gens left and three survivors is pretty standard. And if the killer is able to kill someone so early without a mori and there are four of five gens left, the killer kinda deserves the win. The only way a killer can tunnel someone that fast is if the other survivors essentially farm someone in front of the killer or saving someone and stealthing away, not taking the aggro. If the killer is camping, the best thing to do is to just rush gens, not farm the other survivor. Not to say there aren't broken things Killers can run. Iri Head, Infantry Belt Huntress is one.
And a lot of the things you say here can be flipped around for survivors. I see survivors using broken crap all the time. DS, Unbreakable with an Ormond offering. Running Haddonfield with Balanced Landing. Any farm map offering with a key. I can just as easily say, "Most survivors are trash. They just use cheap perk combos and bad map design to win. Less then 5% of them are good at the game." Without providing any real evidence to support it.
How about instead of putting all the blame on one side, we balance things for both?

Tea-bagging and flashlight don't help to win a game and it's not taking in hostage the game. Some still do gens and one is in chase with you, T-bagging you, whatever, his choice, he doesn't run faster with this.
You can also use Franklin perk.
A killer camping and tunneling is taking in hostage the game, period. When he gets the 1st kill, if there are 2+ gens left then the game is over.
This is ruining the game. And atm, almost every killer i play against use this dirty play.
Offerings definitely help though. And tunneling isn't taking the game hostage at all. The game can still continue.

First of all - thread bumping is always going to get deleted and can get threads closed, I also didn't need to give a warning I could have just instantly closed the thread. I chose to make a warning on it that then went unheeded. We delete comments that are off topic and there were an absolute load on that thread, some of which are still there due to the quantity of them with people bumping the thread to try to get it to 1k - hardly conducive of a constructive thread! There were warnings given out by myself and other moderators to people on that thread as well due to the comments made towards the Developers which broke our forum rules.
"ghostly deleting comments" - that can apply to all deletions as we don't have the time to dm everyone with regards to what was deleted and we respect our users to understand that if their comment has been deleted it's for good reason meaning that it's either completely off topic or breaking our rules.
I am not trying to lecture you on anything, it was advice more than anything. You want to be listened to about the issues that you face but then go about it in an attacking non constructive manner which you've done here, that's not going to get your issue listened to, but get posts closed...again! We don't need to give a warning about closing a thread, that's a decision we make, I chose to give everyone on that thread a warning with regards to it, on the hope that it would not need to be closed.
With regards to what you believe about the Developer team, nothing I say is going to change your mind. I happen to know how much the team listen and how much feedback is gone through - I have never lied, and I really take offence to that in your post. I and the other moderators of this forum give up a lot of our time to help in any way that we can and to turn around and say that we are lying about something is incredibly rude and flat out incorrect.
So no nothing I have done has mislead you in any way and is certainly not hypocritical.
The reason I noticed people were bumping the thread wasn't because they were trying to inflate it, though some might've. The ones I saw were concerned players who've been stuck with this abysmal FPS for years. BHVR promised them improved frames and it didn't happen. At the end of the day, this is an extremely relevant topic.
I understand if you wanted to stop the bumps, but the better thing to do would have been to pin the thread since it's a popular discussion that more then deserves a proper update. There wouldn't have been any need to bump the thread if the issue was addressed in the first place but if you guys didn't have an immediate answer then it would have been a better move to keep it at the top. Not only does this show the community that their issue is a priority and that you believe it deserves attention, it helps ensure a dev would see it.
I'm sorry, but closing that thread and warning not to make others was not a good decision.

Because 95% of killers play dirty maybe ?
Killers are the one who decide if the game will be good or bad, they can tunnel and camp = bad game or play properly without tunneling/camping = good games.
You know what ? 95% of killers prefer to use cheap mechanic to get kills son SWF are toxic. My SWF is super toxic and i'm proud of it cause most of killers main are trash.
You want more friendly survivors ? Then tell your killer friends to play properly.
I'm going to strongly disagree on that one. I've had games as survivor where the killer tunneled me to death and smacked me on the hook for no reason. On the flip side, I've had games as killer where survivors put in Ormond offerings and teabag and flashlight click every chance they get when I neither camped nor tunneled. Can we stop with this us-vs-them stuff? Both sides are guilty of being toxic to each other.

You're confusing "ignoring" for "not doing exactly what the feedback says". The devs do the latter, like any rational human being would and should given all the contradictory feedback. Some people thought old Legion and Deathslinger were just fine. Others did not. So when you say they "ignored" the feedback, what you really mean is that they didn't do what you wanted.
Let's run the list, shall we?
- Graphical upgrade? Currently being worked on.
- Camping penalty? Done.
- More licensed killers? Done.
- More lore? Done.
- MMR? Currently being worked on.
- Hillbilly rework? Done.
- Leatherface rework? Done.
- Legion rework? Done.
- Freddy rework? Done.
- Nurse rework? Done.
That's just off the top of my head.
All because the devs follow through with some of their promises doesn't excuse them from breaking their word with the console player base.

Dunno, but when mods issue multiple warnings and you don't heed them, whose fault is it that a thread gets locked or deleted?
They issued one warning, not multiple. One person bumped the thread, was warned not to do it by others, and the post was immediately closed. The vast majority of that post was legit discussion and was overall very civil.

2) Optimisation has been more difficult than anticipated but it is a priority issue and we will keep you updated regularly. We appreciate your patience.
3) Our goals were unrealistic and we can no longer promise this level on current consoles. However we will still try and optimise the current generation as best we can, as well as ensuring top-quality performance on the next gen. We're very sorry.

A mod literally said that any more threads made about the topic would be shut down.

Console players have been justifiably demanding decent frames for years and nothing has been done. We were promised an optimization two years ago. What came of that? Why is this not a priority? Why are we treated so coldly when we rightfully demand updates on what we were promised a long time ago?
Most importantly, why should we believe we'll be listened to now? Because someone said that the devs were looking into it? Or that we've been heard? I'm sorry, but those vague answers aren't enough. We need real updates and clear communication.
This post isn't even just about console optimization or the devs not keeping their word. I would like to know why we should believe we've been heard when we've been brushed off for so long.

It is and it has been for a long time. Myers tiered up? Frame drops. Sloppy Butcher being applied? Frame drops. Gain Bloodlust? Frame drops. Killer breathes? Game crashes.

If I had to rank them from physically strongest to weakest, this is how it would go.
TL:DR: Oni, Demogorgon, Executioner, Trapper, Shape, Huntress, Hillbilly, Leatherface, Wraith, Clown, Deathslinger, Doctor, Plague, Legion, Ghostface, Pig, Freddy, Spirit, Nurse, Hag.
1: The Oni. Do I need to go into much detail? The dude is huge and canonically slaughtered samurai often. He's also able to charge at a terrifying speed while wielding a heavy weapon. That paired with his skill as a samurai easily puts him on top.
2: The Demogorgon. The Demogorgon is a bit of a wild card since it's full strength is hard to gauge, but I'd imagine it's far stronger then the average human.
3: The Executioner. Walking around with a giant metal frame on your shoulders would already be hard enough, but wielding possibly the heaviest weapon of the bunch puts him high on the list. He can even arch his knife over his head to bonk survivors without much effort. He's also built like a brick house.
4: The Trapper. He's also huge and worked in a mine. Pushing minecarts like that has to take a lot of muscle. And he is able to set bear traps with almost no effort. I actually looked up how they are set and it seems to be a lot of hassle so the fact he's able to do it so easily is kinda crazy. He's also barely affected by stepping in them himself. His own father used him as personal body guard as well.
5: The Shape. Another confusing one because there's two versions we can look at. The one in DBD seems more based off of the original so I'll be using that as a measure of strength. He survives being shot six times, stabbed three times, and falling off a balcony. And he was able to smash a car window open with his bare hands. That earns him a pretty high spot.
6: The Huntress. Axes are pretty heavy so you already need to be pretty strong to wield one. And to be able to chuck hatches at such a speed takes a fair amount of strength as well. But she also killed moose, bears, and WW1 soldiers for fun and she survives alone in the woods for most of her life. She moves slower then the others above but she still gets a pretty high spot on the list.
7: The Hillbilly. I looked up how much a chainsaw weighs and a gas-powered one can exceed 20 pounds (or about 9kg.) That seems to be the ones our chainsaw bois use so I'm going to go with that. Hillbilly is able to charge around the map with this thing and, despite his physique, is able to move pretty fast normally.
8: Leatherface. For many of the reasons stated above. He's able to swing the chainsaw pretty easily but lacks speed.
9: The Wraith. Some might rate him lower, but people forget he ripped a dudes spine and skull out of his body with his bare hands. That takes a pretty insane amount of strength. As far as build, his upper body is built pretty sturdy, but he's got chicken legs so he gets a more mid-tier place.
10: The Clown. He was an athlete in his youth which attests to some physical capability, but he let himself go quite a bit. He's probably still very physically capable, but probably not as strong as the killers above. Judging by his breathing, he's also not in the best of health.
11: The Deathslinger. He's super tall but his build is average. Despite this, he actually does some pretty crazy stuff. He bashes Bayshore's head into a desk enough to disfigure him and at some point smashes a dude's head into a cell to the point where it "spills through the bars." He's stronger then he looks, but his more average physique nets him a middle spot.
12: The Doctor. He's a big guy but he never does anything remarkable with his strength.
13: The Plague. She's tall but not physically built nor does she really do anything that requires a lot of strength.
14: The Legion. I'm not sure exactly how I would score them since they're a group. Individually, I would score them as Joey, Frank, Julie, than Susie.
15: Ghostface. A very average guy build-wise. Nothing remarkable.
16: The Pig. Again, very average. Nothing remarkable.
17: Freddy. I'm sure if we talk about other-worldly power, Freddy would be on a whole other level. But since this is physical strength, Freddy scores pretty low IMO
18: The Spirit. Again, when it comes to other worldly power, she's insane. But physical strength, she doesn't look like much.
19: The Nurse. Arguably the most powerful killer when it comes to her ability, but she scores very low when it comes to muscle.
20: The Hag. The Hag is super scrawny and starved. She's easily on the bottom.

It's baffling that the issue has gone on as long as it has. Framerate drops when you gain bloodlust, play certain killers, play certain maps, or mist offerings to the point where it's headache inducing. How much worse is it going to get before something is done about it? Can we at least get an official response? Honestly, if there is no chance for optimization, can we at least know about it so we don't hold false hope that the game will be fixed?

For the Fireman he is just in short an emotion brought to life, he is a manifestation of the rage, and the hatered that burns inside all of us. Although He just slunks around with his axe and just stares at people and brutally murder them. I can't tell you more but would you say that is enough, because he fits alot of those categories they are just subtle
I think it's fine, as long as he is able to drive the plot forward with his actions. If a character is lacking in one category, feel free to exaggerate in another. For example, Fire Lord Ozai has very little humanity whatsoever. But this is used to amp up his intimidation by giving the audience the idea that he is completely cold and ruthless.

I think a few factors come into play and it depends on the kind of villain you want.
Believability: Are their motivations and actions believable?
Intimidation: Are they scary? Can the audience take them seriously?
Backstory: Does their backstory flesh them out enough?
Humanity: Do they have a personality? Are they sympathetic to a degree?
I think the most iconic villains fit this role. Darth Vader would be a good example of a villain who excels in all these categories. Keep in mind, that these aren't set in stone. If you think it's better for your story if your villain has no humanity, they don't give it to them. It depends on the villain you're looking for.
