  • I wish the devs would create a balanced game and stop creating one-sided, pay-to-win killers that nobody wants to play against. My interest in spending money or supporting the game is pretty nonexistent lately because they completely disregard solo queue. The kill rates indicate that the developers believe the killer should win regardless of skill, as they have chosen killer. Having a 60-70% win rate in any other PvP title would get the character banned from play or called OP, yet that's the average experience in Dbd.

  • Dead by Daylight is generally a poorly balanced, trashy game. The developers lack a clear understanding of game design or balance. Despite being carelessly treated, solo queue appears to be the standard method of playing the game. Playing a killer feels like the developers firmly grasping your hand and forcing you into victories. It's the worst multiplayer game balance I've ever seen.

  • You're getting one of the biggest survivor nerfs possible by having them all spawn together, and you complain that survivors not being held hostage for four minutes is too much quality of life.

Most versions of 2v8 have been survivor sided. 8 Instead of 10 gens. Herbs that instantly heal and remove entire hook states, serious amounts of aura readings on the killer, notifications when your aura has been read even by stealth killers, gen speeds faster than lightning, survivors recreating pallets and god pallets. Both sides have to deal with their fair share of BS. 2v8 isnt meant to be perfect. They can fine tune the rest.

I disagree. The game was fairly balanced previously for the regular public match, resulting in a healthier game mode. Even with it being a healthier mode, there were still long queue times for killers. You want a game that hands you victories because you don't care about balance or actual PvP gameplay, is all I'm seeing. You want the Dead by Daylight experience where they balance entirely around a survivor premade on voice, while the regular match is an easy stomp because randoms stand no chance.

Just got out of a match where a streaming Oni complained about their 35-minute wait times.

  • This should surprise nobody. The devs cater to killers and genuinely treat the survivor role like straight garbage. There's never a reason to touch the game unless you enjoy playing Killer. Every patch has made it clearer how poorly balanced this game is and why I only bother with half of it unless I'm forced to touch Survivor for challenges.

If this weren't the case, they wouldn't offer a +400% bloodpoint bonus to survivors. Nobody wants to play a punching bag, and that's exactly how they're designed.

  • As the killer, I do. The game is so catered to me, and I win almost every game I play, regardless of the killer I'm on, so long as I run a functional build. I can even enjoy meme builds depending on how late into the night I play.

On Survivor, you are forced to run some of the strongest builds in the game, and you're still more than likely going to lose, which is doubly so considering I only touch the game's solo queue. The game is balanced around a premade on voice, yet they won't even allow you to coordinate perks with the random players the game has taken less than a minute to pair you with. The game is the most unfun garbage out there, and I recommend the survivor role to nobody.

It's not really all that relevant if you personally are upset by the toxicity or not. That's not the point. The point is how it seems unfair to give one team something and not give the other team the same courtesy. It seems unbalanced.

BHVR is supposed to be neutral, right?

If Behavior were neutral, they wouldn't allow Nemesis to be 130%+ movement speed the entire match and wait days to weeks to kill switch it.

  • The worst part about this is how often the game is left in a rough state. You now have completely busted killers that will abuse bugs and glitches, and the dev team doesn't utilise the kill switch for them. Look at how Nemesis currently can abuse PWYF and other haste stacking to reach over a 130% movement speed the entire match. It's ridiculous that you can no longer wait for them to act on reports or create solutions before starting up this trainwreck of a game.

  • The game is unbalanced and not worth touching unless you play in a four-man premade as a survivor. The developers tell half-truths regarding the game balance as they throw out matches that contain a DC or hook suicide, as others have pointed out. If either of these happens, all the survivors have likely died in that match. This happens 1/4th or 1/5th of your experience in solo queue. I currently hold an 80.65% win rate as killer according to deadbystats. Dead by Daylight is the most poorly balanced PvP game out there, and you should only touch this game if you can find joy in losing as survivor or enjoy playing as a specific killer.

  • This is an unpopular opinion, but I still find the game wildly imbalanced in solo queue. I honestly think the devs have no clue what they're doing. They still haven't adjusted the bug for The Ghoul that allows them to get hits immediately after vaulting on the survivor, I believe, by canceling their power mid-grapple. The fact that they refuse to killswitch a killer that has a game-breaking bug is just sad. Honestly, this game is just bad, and it showcases how heavy licensed chapters carry a game that doesn't deserve them.

  • Terrible take. If you want a bad experience, play solo queue.

  • The real issue with these generators is the atrocious blood point gains. Unless you're the one to complete it, you get fewer points than three great skill checks, without even factoring in the generator completion points.

  • There's no point in attempting to play against this killer, as the devs went for pay-to-win to sell a killer they probably thought would flop otherwise.

Again straight up lies and made up stories.

    >If you tunnel someone out early the rest of the survivors have essentially no chance to finish all the gens

Are you strictly talking about yourself here? I do not understand. The amount of games I won while at 3 or 2 survivors left is not neglect-able, and those games are often even more entertaining than anything else.

Watch him come out with the "low mmr" argument.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3872784#Comment_3872784

Why are you making this stuff up. What's with this community and making up stories?

Making up stories? If you look at any stats, Dead by Daylight is a one-sided game. You'll win almost every game you play if you're any good at killer. The game is awful and only worth touching when there's an event or tome because it's a terrible game at its core. The game was far healthier around 2021-2022 for solo queue.

  • This game is garbage, and the developers only care about killers. I honestly don't see much reason to type more or care because the developers don't care about their own game so why should I? I only hop on for events and tomes, the game is not worth playing otherwise.

  • Probably. These devs are terrible at balance and bend over backward to appease killer players should they have any issues while leaving solo queue in the shitter.

I mean, I just played an epic solo q match against a slugging Huntress tonight.

I looped her pretty well a few times but she could have easily won if she just hooked people. Instead she got us all on two hooks with 3 gens left and tried to bleed us all out.

Fortunately, everyone on the team understood the assignment....except the bot we were stuck with from an early DC lmao

We rotated to pick up slugs, did gens during chases, and were able to break a nasty end game 3 gen thanks to my Deja Vu/Resilience combo and all 3 of us on the last gen while they tried to slug the bot.

We got a 4 out with everyone on death hook and seconds away from bleeding out.

Slugging is definitely counterable even in solo Q. Sometimes you just have to take charge and show your team you won't give up on them, and they return the favor. If you start hiding in a corner everyone just wants to go next.

This sounds far more likely that the Huntress got you all to death hook at three gens, decided they would rather give you all the chance to succeed, and then played for fun. Slugging at that stage is to the survivor's benefit, not theirs.

  • The direction of Dead by Daylight is horrendous, and I wish I hadn't ever touched this trainwreck of a game. The game feels heavily one-sided and exhausting to play while in solo queue. I win almost every match as a killer because the devs continue to spoonfeed victories and make every mechanic in my favor. No game I've ever played has felt as poorly balanced as this game.

You should have been here for the first 6.5 years of the games life, when it was undisputedly survivor sided. It got so bad that survivor cue times were 15-20 minutes during the tail end of that period. Only in recent years has the pendulum swung to the other

I've been here since 2016 and have over 6k hours in this game. I'm not sure why some of you want to gatekeep discussion when the game is not what it was when it first launched.

  • The game is too killer-sided, and there's no reason to touch this mess outside of events because of how terrible it is. If the developers balanced their game, it'd be more popular, but it's downright pointless to play.

As a solo survivor, you can't afford a coherent build with the current game design as you need to run various perks to possibly counter a totem build, a slugging build, a camping build, etc.

if average soloQ experience is so unbearable, why are yall vouching for DC penalty removal and are advocating for giving up on hooks to stay in the game?

You're making this up as I've yet to see this brought up on the forums. You intend to diminish any argument because you want killer to be easy and fed victories, as it is now. Keeping in mind this is a PvP game, the current balance is what I would expect from a single-player game.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/430129/why-should-survivors-play-this-event-again

Survivors once again proving they'll never be happy with what the devs give even when its finally a new item, I urge the Devs to stop experimenting and give up on events.

Take an entire year to do nothing but QOL optimisation and bug fixes and show how ungrateful the DBD Community is

If the developers treated survivors more than second-class players and balanced the events and game properly as any other PvP game, I don't think you'd have so much negativity. The Solo queue experience is unbearable, they should instead devote their time to making the game feel fair.

  • I had previously recommended this game to friends and even bought it for them. None of them play it anymore because of the terrible balance, sheer commitment, and cost required to get all the perks and killers. Now Dead by Daylight is a massive joke among my friend group and I'm the only one who still plays it because I've invested too much time into it.

  • I wouldn't be too upset at yourself, the game is inherently one-sided and poorly balanced because the developers of this game want it to be that way.

  • They could easily allow survivors to pick themselves up after two minutes as the killer would have already gained value from the slugging experience. Overall, the devs don't care as you're a survivor and meant to have a terrible time for the killer's enjoyment. Didn't you know Dead by Daylight is balanced like a single-player game? You're meant to lose without any counterplay as long as Nurse exists and makes the correct play.

  • Map offerings should work in reverse in that they prevent the realm from being able to be selected. That way it's still random, but if you're fed up with getting a certain map you can force it out of rotation.

  • @RpTheHotrod said:

Looping is definitely still a thing. Here, I'll even intentionally get hit just to grab the killer's attention, or if I lose them, make my position known to try to regain their attention. Don't mind the killer shack pallet drop, I was sick that day and not thinking, lol.

Looping is easier than it's ever been with the amount of loop perks available these days. The only trouble you have are killers who specifically have anti-loop built into their kit.

    https://youtu.be/NhriQPbYh8U

    https://youtu.be/wbG7DR54WZg

This post is disingenuous. You're using examples that are 1 to 3 months old before the small map reworks that popped up recently. Looping is still possible against some of the cast of killers, but it's being lessened intentionally. Now weaker loops and pallet spawns result in free hits regardless of what the survivor does.

  • It's pretty comical how the killer players will come here to tell you that looping is fine and healthy because they only play killer. One of the major flaws with this game is that it doesn't force these types of people into both roles. The game would be more balanced and healthy if everyone were forced to play with the terrible game design the developers continue to push. Solo queue is the worst online gaming experience I've ever had in an online PvP title. The real kicker is that it wasn't always like this. The developers made it unplayable intentionally.

  • I agree with the title, the current state of the game is an absolute mess for solo queue because the developers simply do not give one ######### about them. Dead by Daylight is the worst-balanced PvP game on the market and I recommend it to nobody. The map reworks and the killer reworks have all been fairly one-sided to where I don't see the enjoyment in winning nearly every match as killer or losing almost every game as a solo survivor.

  • The game is unbalanced. The developers give every killer a participation trophy at the end of every match. If you're looking for a truly competitive experience, it's best not to invest your time and money in this game. Most matches lack balance, and the developers only focus on the killers. The perks for survivors have been uninspiring in recent years, and survivors are nothing more than skins.

  • @GonnaBlameTheMovies said:

Not necessary and would be extremely annoying as a stealth perk. Technician doesn't need a buff, it's fine where it is. This would be overkill. Technician is like WoO, it's a safety guard for newer Survivor players. It doesn't need to be useful for experienced players, that's contrary to what it's supposed to do. It's fine in the niche it's in. Not every Perk needs to be useful for experienced players.

If we make gen repairs silent you will literally encourage people to rat being a stealthy ghost doing gens, not engaging the Killer, and not saving friends. Plus sound is such a key element in this game; can you imagine how annoying it would be as Killer to hunt for someone who say, is running Light-Footed, this, Iron Will, and current Distortion? No aura, no scratch marks, no traces, not even gen sounds, and they hide in nearby lockers. And when you hit them? Still no sound.

The rest of the buff is fine and perfect for newer players. In fact I would add this effect: Skill check zones are larger, and move slower.

This helps train new players, but keeps it out of the realm of being yet another perk intended for niche genrush. We don't need more of those and we don't want to encourage a lack of players interacting with others or the Killer.

The perk Technician needs a buff. While I disagree with a massive change, the increased loss of progress is detrimental to a perk that is supposed to be for beginners. It punishes them more than the perk slot it's worth. I'd recommend removing the penalty entirely, as it's simply unnecessary.

  • Nah, you have nothing constructive to say or argue, so I think I'm done conversing with someone who only wants a single role to be worth playing.

I've played this game since 2016 and have never played Fortnite once. The game isn't balanced; I'm not sure who you're fooling, but it's clear that the devs feel killers deserve to win simply by picking the role.

yes, i play soloQ a lot more than i even play SWF, and you know how matches go?

    • teammates completely allergic to gens;
    • teammates getting 2-tapped in literal M1 chases;
    • teammates playing for some random challenge objectives and completely not caring about how the match goes for others;
    • teammates giving up on 1st hook because "omg i couldn't have fun playing on autopilot and being able to win"
    • 2-men SWFs with flashlights constantly just lurking for the eventual saves and never touching gens when they have nothing else to do;

    etc.

And now you want to tell me that it's the actual game that favors killers heavily and not players themselves who are literally gifting killers 4k on a plate?

Considering that the game had stats that were far more fair than it currently is designed, it's not entirely the survivor's fault. The game itself is tilted to favor killers far more than it should in a supposedly PvP game. The recent changes have failed to tackle the significant issues plaguing the game since its release, while simultaneously buffing and addressing map size to make it even easier for killers to dominate. Solo queue is ignored and treated as fodder for killer win rates and I'm more or less done with the game and its one-sided direction. Solo queue is unplayable and killer is generally a stomp with only a premade on voice being a general challenge.

did you read my post at all?

Tunneling as a strategy never ever saw a high success rate in actual high skill matches (be sure to check so many tourney/scrims and DbDL matches) because of how situational it is against any team that has the bare idea of what they are doing.

Maybe provide us with some better info, like total average chase time of a tunneled survivor, or what other survivors are doing while the specific one is "being tunneled". The situation is not as black and white as you are trying to present it, and your research is basically just some raw info to support a "tunneling OP" narrative rather than having some depth so that we can see why is tunneling actually rampant and so successful in pubs, while seeing ~70% less success in high skill matches unless you were actually able to get a very fast first chase and first down.

Do you even play solo queue? The game is unplayable with the trainwreck game design that forgot it's a PvP game. The game favors killers so heavily that I'd argue the game is borderline abusive toward you when there are so many better games and options out there.

  • The only positive about the event mode is the additional blood point gain. Otherwise, it's more one-sided gameplay additions that are poorly balanced and negatively affect the game's flow.

  • The amount of complaining about Potential Energy is ridiculous for a perk outright garbage without the bug. The downside of the perk is already massive as it's a waste of time and a single hit undoes the entire perk. Hopefully, they address the bug and buff it to have a use to be run at the same time as this game lacks real variety in builds.

They didn't, it was no real surprise that they'd leave another perk to be in the dumpster.

  • I got a match against this and it's 100% pay to win with how silent it is, though I imagine it's intentional so they can make more money off the skin.

Cosmetics, yes. Charms, no. It's such a small digital item and it's fun seeing if someone is an OG player.

The only charms up for debate on whether they should return are the iridescent paid ones at the very end of the rift. I see no reason to withhold the rest.

  • As someone who has done all the rifts since the very first, I sincerely hope they add everything back into the game at some point. These are all digital cosmetics and shouldn't be withheld from newer players. There is already a struggle getting players into the game, and keeping charms and cosmetics locked away forever only exacerbates the problem.

  • All of the skins that affect the lullaby are pay-to-win currently.

This game is much more balanced than you would think. Friday had a 80-90% kill rate. People still played that game and loved it. This is the closest to balanced any Asym game has ever come. And they have done a pretty amazing job considering they have thousands of perk combinations to think about and balance on top of considering killer powers with it. I escape about 4 out of 10 matches and it’s fun, it feels fine. A killer should be a threat. Not a rival, not an opponent, but an unstoppable force that can only be slowed down and if you aren’t ruthlessly efficient in your objectives then you pay the price. The fact that they can make survivors escape as much as they do is amazing and a testament to good balance. If it was 50/50 this game wouldn’t be fun at all, people play killer because they are iconic characters and are the power role. If a killer can’t kill then what are they? Escapes should be somewhat rare which makes them more rewarding. Trust me, this game is great on BOTH sides.

Say it with me now. This. Is. A. PvP. Game.

The game should be balanced. I shouldn't win by default because I picked one side over the other. The current design and what the developers are leading into is awful. You want a one-sided game because you play killer primarily. Slightly leaning in one side's favor to account for a horror theme is fine, but this is not a slight lean, this is straight handholding.

  • The devs want an unbalanced game that caters to killers and treats solo queue like fodder. They're aiming for 60%+ win rates on every killer. It showcases that they don't care or want a balanced game. They feel that a killer should load into a match and expect the win regardless of this being a PvP game.

I really wouldn't want someone like you in my survivor team for sure, if you afk in half your matches.

Survivors definitely face some issues, mainly camping and tunneling, but it's also not as bad as you are making it out to be.

I never said I AFK in half my matches, but if I did, it'd make very little difference with the experience solo queue generally is. You don't play solo queue during the nighttime hours when the game pairs anyone together. Even a Jane with a tier 1 Head On and nothing else.

    Actually nvm, disregard me

I don't want to have this conversation about why or why not the game should be turned into a participation trophy playground. If that ever happened I would just play a better PVP game.

Do you mean the participation trophy killers are given by allowing face-camping at endgame with their instadown charged in the poor player's face?

  • Dead by Daylight is one-sided toward killers, but that's obvious to everyone. The developers don't want a balanced game and want to correct their awful game design with perks. You may as well AFK in half your matches since you must do three generators, a two-minute+ chase, and still unhook people in a single match to stand a chance in solo queue.

  • @HexHuntressThighs said:

That’s not gonna happen as it’s the survivor Hitboxes that are the problem and if you change those you ain’t be looking as tight. And last time they changed her Hitboxes her kill rate dropped below 50.

The real issue is the mentality that you should be allowed to miss your shots and still be rewarded since it's close enough. The game balance in this game is so hit-and-miss. I see little reason to pick other ranged killers when Huntress exists.

  • Hopefully, next, they correct the egregiously awful design of her hatchet hitboxes as she's throwing beach balls

  • It is one of the worst-balanced games you'll ever play if you try to touch solo queue. The developers don't want to balance their game and would rather blame solo-queue for issues that plague the game than attempt to assist it. The game is downright miserable with multiple flaws that have stuck with the game since launch.

Playing killer though is a breeze and you'll nearly always win nowadays with little resistance in most matches.

  • @I_CAME said:

I really don't understand why Behavior thinks it's alright for survivors to get so few bloodpoints compared to killer. Solo queue players are basically BP pinatas for the killer and you don't get anything for this "honor". It's like they don't even notice how big of a difference there is in an average match. Anyone can see it if they literally just play ten killer games and then ten solo survivor games. They still haven't even changed the laughable 1250 BPs for doing a full 90 second generator.

You'll gain more points going around the map booning a totem at 16 seconds versus spending 90 seconds on the only objective in the game, generators.

    1500 BPs vs 1250 BPS.

1 2 3 4 5 … 10
