I explained my point about negative press.
Would you like me to explain something further? Are you confused about a point? I am happy to elucidate.
No, all you did was post a fallacy of a fictional headline.
Would you like a third try? lol

"BHVR Interactive's Hit Game, Dead by Daylight, Now Punishes New Players and Those Who Play With Friends"
There's your headline. Surely, we can see how that'd be bad.
And also, SWF is the majority according to the new stats. I don't think anyone has a problem with Duos or Trios. Well, nobody reasonable at least. People shouldn't be punished for playing with their friends.
That's it? Just a lame redirect, nothing with any substance? lmao As expected.

indeed, the outrage that people cant team up for an advantage would be deafening lol. this is why killers have been buffed, to handle SWF so any solo players with issues can thank SWF players for that. But atleast SWF teams are ok
Bingo. This person understands.

More like because its a dumb idea.
######### around with SWF is one thing that actually will kill DBD. The negative press alone would be hugely detrimental.
Explain how. SWF are not even the majority of Surv players, how would that kill DBD? Go ahead, explain it.

There's no point for me to see. This looping comparison is nonsense. Pulling off a great team play that obliterated the killer is impressive. Hiding behind a rock is not. The most selfish path is not somehow the smartest. It's just the easiest.
almost all SWF's recently have been meta perks, on comms, calling out hexes and locations.
What are you basing this on? Vibes? Streamers? Almost no one I know uses meta perks. I've never once discussed or aligned my perks with anyone while playing in multiple groups. We do what we want, together.
Half the people I play with are cross plartform. You'd never be able to tell we were in a party. I've played with randoms who have saved me/I've pulled off saves for in end game and I promise you the killer thought we were in party by how perfect they went. Meanwhile, I'll blow it compeltley in a party. It's rare that I'm 100% sure my opponenets are on comms, but there have been times where I watched them load in separately in a lobby and play like a coordinated SWAT team.
Ah so this is why you combat any suggested nerf to SWF, because you play SWF. Makes sense now.
-
Yea, when I go on tiktok, anytime a DBD clip pops up, the comments are just filled with people complaining about the game and stating they uninstalled lol
The game is unbalanced, but more importantly, unfun.

Honestly I didn’t really notice them that much at first since they do it so subtle. When I really started to notice them was when I was on survivor after dying and I’d spectate my teammates and you’ll see them snap the speed on for a split second when they round corners and think no one can see them.
On weaker Killers it's hard to tell since the those Killers already suck. Specifically with my current haste clown build, it's just not even subtle because it can't be, they can't outrun the amount of haste I have subtly, so they don't even try, they just are straight up cheating in front of me lol
Earlier, I had a match where there was an Ada that always was somehow getting 15m away anytime she turned a corner, whatever I would leave her and focus on her buddies. I finally down her right next to basement because she has no skill and was getting stuck against walls with her speed hacks. I throw a haste bottle and pick her up, 4 seconds later just before I hook her in basement she somehow wiggles out. I DC'd and in end game her and her SWF blow up the chat with "gg ez". Honestly, not only should cheaters be banned, but if they are in a SWF then all of those people should be banned.

Where did I claim that I never see any negative gameplay? Just this morning, I was thinking, “Can’t wait for the anti-slug measures,” while bleeding out. The killer left me slugged just so they could go for the 4K. I’m right next to a hook, so it’s not like they couldn’t hook me. It wasn’t fun. A couple of games latter a killer was tunnelling of hook and I was thinking "Guess they are getting it our of the system before the changes" I have no doubt it wasn't fun for that other player.
Back to the topic: am I not allowed to have my own experiences, or do I just need to go with the narrative and be hyperbolic, or else the peanut gallery comes out and downvotes because they can’t stand the fact that people have different experiences from them? Such a strange mindset.
I noticed you sidestepped my question, too. What keeps you coming back if it is such a miserable experience for you?
What is with your “totally believable” comment? What exactly are you referring to? I wouldn’t be playing and putting up with these forums if I didn’t still enjoy the game. Not sure what’s so hard to believe, that some people who value their time wouldn’t waste it on something they don’t enjoy.
On a final note, what exactly has BHVR “rushed” out? To use my example above about unfun play for anti-slug: they tried years ago and failed to bring it in. They tried again recently, scrapped it, and are now trying again. Who knows where that will end up after the PTB.
You're all over the place with your claims. First stating that your experience in SoloQ is vastly different than everyone else and that you enjoy SoloQ. I point out all the common negative aspects of SoloQ gameplay that everyone is complaining about and some of which BHVR is desperately attempting to fix, to which you then state that those don't happen on a regular basis for you and most matches you either enjoy or are neutral about, but rarely upset with. You absolutely are allowed to have your own experiences, but when the majority of players have the same common experience that is different than yours, it removes the relevancy from your claimed experience.
BHVR has been rushing balance changes recently because the game is hot garbage and has been getting flack, that's what I mean. From rushing out afk crow changes to removing hook attempts for all players in effort to trap SoloQ into matches they don't want to be in. Rushing out a pallet density change without thinking about how atrocious that is for M1 Killers to rushing out changes to anti-slugging Surv perks before they even pushed out any anti-slugging measures to live. BHVR has been sloppy.

So you nerf every person in a party, even those who aren't on comms and aren't coordinated, since the game can't tell the difference between casual friends goofing off and SWAT teams , and now you just have all survivors being equally miserable. All this would do is discourage loose friends from partying up.
You ignored that entire portion of my comment where I stated that the game would need further balancing with Killers, since it would overall be easier to achieve if SWF and SoloQ were near equal in power.
SoloQ is claimed to be the biggest portion of Survs; that's a stat fact pushed by BHVR that's repeated ad nauseum on this forum. Yet people still play SoloQ despite it being the worst experience that DBD has to offer, SoloQ remains and has always remained the majority of Survs queueing up according to BHVR…. so why cater to SWF when they are the minority of the Surv player base, at the expense of SoloQ and Killers?
Would actual balance changes to SWF deter people from playing with their friends… I'm doubtful of that, I think that's just a fear monger tactic pushed by people who don't want their unfair advantages neutralized. There is zero reason BHVR can't put changes like that into the PTB and then live, see what happens and revert/adjust if needed, same as all their other balance changes.
What is clear, is that SWF and SoloQ are vastly different and it's making the game unbalance-able.
-
Start calling it out like it is though, Killers tunnel because the game favors SWF and the Killer, at base, treats every match from the jump as if they're facing a SWF. That is why they tunnel, slug and camp. It's the easiest thing to do that nets the best results, which is overkill for SoloQ since they lack coordination and often stomps SWF because it takes immense coordination to negate it. Simply lumping SoloQ and SWF together is dishonest and needs to stop or BHVR will never achieve any semblance of balance.
Yea, gen speeds go by too fast, so why don't they impose repair speed penalties for SWF depending on how many are in the SWF, so gens take longer for them. Oh look, they are all stacking meta perks along with their ultra discord coordination, so why not prevent SWF from repeating the same perks, everyone in the party must use different perks. Those two changes alone would mellow out SWF and attempt to bridge the Grand Canyon gap between SWF and SoloQ, then Killers can be adjusted accordingly.
I honestly cannot see why BHVR caters to, what they claim through stats, is the minority of Surv players and why people in this community seem so blind to the actual root cause of these issues.

Its a both sides issue but by nature of how the game it is more noticeable that survivors do it. I could probably play 10 matches a day as survivor and see that my teammates give up more than killers. If you don't like dbd to the point where you give up over the most pettiest of reasons then DBD aint for you. The game is a 4v1 asymm meaning you are MEANT to lose chase eventually as you're only 25% of your team.
Unironically best way to avoid tunneling or getting the most playtime out of your survivor games is getting better at looping to the point where a killer if they're smart enough wont even want to take chase with you again. We should still focus more on punishments as that's the only way to keep bad apples out.
Once I stop seeing survivors give up over the most non-issues then we can agree to talk about lowering penalties. It's a both sides issue that 100% affects SoloQ though. Survs DCing ruins the game for the remaining Survs while any match that seems to be going well, Killers DC, which again ruins the game for the remaining Survs.
Getting slapped with 7 consecutive SoloQ matches where Survs DC at the slightest inconvenience so the game is a waste, to then get slapped with a matches where the Killer DC's at the slightest inconvenience, isn't rewarding or facilitating fun. The only group having fun are SWF's and S-Tier Killers.
So again, for like the umpteenth time, maybe just maybe, BHVR should focus on making the game enjoyable and less about punishment. Also, you have no authority over anyting, IDC if you agree about lowering penalties, but objectively the game is having serious issues that BHVR isn't properly addressing.

Simply, the things you have listed just don't happen on a regular basis in my games. I have more games I enjoy or at least neutral on than ones that are miserable.
My question back to you if this happens to you on such a regular occurrence as you claim, why not cut your losses and move on? I can tell you without a doubt if my games got to the state you say you mentioned in you examples I would uninstall and not look back.
Oh okay. So your claim is that you are in the minority of the SoloQ experience that somehow doesn't see any of that negative gameplay, even though it's so rampant that BHVR has to rush out fixes to quell the community, right right. Got it, totally believable lol
-
@PleaseRewind said:
Sometimes I think I'm playing a different game to some people who comment on here about the state of solo q. This is just not my experience as a solo player at all. Sure, at times I have frustrations but for the most part I enjoy myself. That's why I continue to play.
You said you enjoy yourself, but you didn't specify why you enjoy your SoloQ experience. Some people literally enjoy eating feces, yet objectively eating that is bad lol
If you find enjoyment with getting tunneled out or slugged at 5 gens, teammates going down 15 seconds into a match, no one doing gens, the constant DC's, Survs leaving each other on hook for two hook states or hiding all match, Survs afking, or matches being a complete loss because of the map rng… then I guess good for you?
-
Well, BHVR literally can't do anything because they refuse to actually address the real balance issues with the game and the community is, quite frankly, too dull to critically think about it. They aren't going to push through actual changes that would prevent tunneling or slugging because then SWF will just abuse the hell of it, right? Making Killer matches even more miserable. So whatever they push live has to not really embolden SWF which in turn means it won't do jack ######### for SoloQ…. which is the area this issue most affects, right?
Meanwhile, BHVR claims, via stats, that most Survs are in SoloQ, but any suggestion of actual balance changes for SWF, who statistically are the minority group of Survs in DBD, is met with extreme pushback and threats of leaving. Yet again, SoloQ is in the worst state it's ever been to where BHVR is rushing to bandaid fix this mess, but the majority of Surv players, again stat wise, is claimed to be SoloQ. It's a circular mess that both BHVR and the community refuses to actually address because they want the upper hand in the game instead of an actually balanced game.
SWF should receive nerfed, SoloQ should receive targeted buffs and all Killers balanced out around that.

That has nothing to do with what I posted. It's interesting that I state how BHVR should make the game enjoyable for everyone and your response is "There are four other people in every game and you are not more important than any of them". What an odd thing to post as a rebuttal.

Ok so what you're telling me is it's ok to give up and throw the entire match if I went down in a way I don't agree with which a noticeable amount of people do in this game. Ok I'll go into matches and do JUST that and see how much the 4 other players enjoy that and proceed to advocate for no DC penalty. Every time I don't like X killer I'll just run to the killer post unhook and force him to either slug me or hook me to take me out of the game faster since I'm not having fun so the game should be balanced around me. See what I'm getting at? It's not possible to balance for the majority if the majority is… not willing to even play the game.
Also give up on hook still is possible it's called bringing luck offerings and so you get to attempt the 4%. It's just 2nd stage takes a bit longer now.Killers do it all the time in SoloQ, I can't imagine how much they do it when facing a SWF. Today alone, there were 4 Killers that DC'd at various stages of the match, from when they couldn't down and tunnel someone before the first gen was done, to DCing right when the exit gates were opened, so it's not only a Surv issue, it's a DBD issue. The game is so generally miserable if you're not playing SWF, that most players are DCing lol SO AGAIN, maybe DBD should focus less on punishments and more on ways to actually make the game fun and balanced, so that people don't want to DC and want to partake in a fun match. Will there be 100% participation 100% of the time? No, but that's no excuse not to try and make the game better for everyone instead of only catering to SWF's and the highest tier Killers.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/459100/is-dead-by-daylight-really-killer-sided
It depends on what mmr you are playing.
- At the lowest levels (aka new players) the game is very killer sided
- At lower half mmrs, the game is slightly killer sided
- At the middle level, the game is pretty balanced (rng can factor in heavily swinging matches one way or the other though)
- At the upper half mmrs, the game is slightly survivor sided
- At the highest levels (aka comp level) the game is very survivor sided.
Ah yes, the magical mystery MMR that is totally in the game and definitely isn't fake. I get matched in 2 milliseconds as SoloQ Surv, yea MMR is functioning? When I lose 15 games in a row and then get paired with ultra comp TTV Blight and Nurse who are playing as if they'll be terminated irl if they let a single gen be completed before slugging us all out, MMR is functioning? There's only two groups of "MMR", new players with fresh installs and everyone else, there are not several MMR brackets in this game.

It is VERY much a valid argument once you see the amount of people who DC over the littlest of things. I thought it was back in the day when people would give up over not getting their Deliverance. But now if its any little thing like a chase going badly or simply a weak killer they don't like they just give up on hook or DC.
No that's not a valid argument, at all lol You people are so desperate to trap others into playing matches with you, idk it's kinda sad tbh. I'd like BHVR to focus on actually balancing the game/making the game enjoyable for SoloQ and less about penalties because other players feel entitled to other players time. "Give up on hook" isn't in the game anymore, so I can see what kind of player you are.
-
Sure is! But don't worry, the same few accounts will come here to proclaim that they have no issues in SoloQ and that in fact, it's so much fun! Despite the lived experience of everyone else who plays SoloQ lol I see tiktok clips of DBD and always they have thousands of comments lamenting over how awful SoloQ is.
SWF's need targeted mechanic nerfs and SoloQ needs targeted mechanic buffs. That's the only way to achieve any real balance and semblance of fairness.

You can't appease everyone. People will give up over the littlest things.

Yeah Survivors should be untouchable for the first down! Till they got 5 Stuns on the Killer or the Exit Gates are open!!!! /s
I understand where you come from but it´s sad reality that people dc on first down no matter if the match is fun or not.
I think one hour bann is way to long for this but OP got a point.
It is frustrating to play Survivor and you can bet with your mates that the random will dc in the first 30 seconds if he gets downed for whatever reason.
OP has no point, there is already an egregious DC penalty system in place that shouldn't even exist for a casual game plagued with issues. And no, people don't DC from matches that are fun, they literally DC because the match isn't fun and isn't going to be fun, otherwise they would stay and have fun. So maybe, just maybe, BHVR should focus on the glaring balance issues causing awful matches and work on that, instead of imposing more restrictions in effort to force people to participate in matches because people aren't going to if they don't want to.
Okay so OP gets their wish, now Survs will just go afk and you won't even get a bot. What's the next step? Make accruing afk birds incur a steep penalty? Yea I'm sure that wouldn't be abused in any capacity in a game that's built off of abuse lol
-
Yes, give people punishments instead of, checks notes, making the game fun for everyone. Yes, what this video game needs, that people play for fun, is punishment on top of punishment, but I guess anything to force random human beings into playing a match with you lol

So true but they don't want to hear that. They lose 1 game to a swf which is like the best teams in the game then they say the games unbalanced. Like dude do you think you're going to beat a coordinated team easily? Plus solo q makes up most of the player base.
The majority of games contain SWF's lol Despite what BHVR's internal stats suggest, anyone who plays Killer is aware that the majority of games are against SWF's and games that are against SoloQ aren't even fun since they are over within 30 seconds lol If SWF's were not the majority, then BHVR would not cater the game around them. If SoloQ was the majority, BHVR would not be making SoloQ more unplayable and awful with each and every patch.
-
Why does your post lump SWF's and SoloQ together? Surv is split into two categories, SWF's and SoloQ. Both play vastly different and adhere to different mechanics.

Fair take — I get where you're coming from. I agree that tunneling and slugging in the late-game (1–2 gens left) often comes down to survival and strategy, and at that point, both sides are just trying to secure the win. I don’t think most players mind that as much.
Where it gets frustrating is exactly what you said — early-game tunneling and slugging, when no real pressure has been established yet. Turning a match into a 3v1 before gens are even touched really cuts down on counterplay and makes it hard to come back, especially in SoloQ.
You also raise a solid point about SWF vs. SoloQ. Any anti-tunnel/slug system would definitely need to account for that imbalance — otherwise, it risks helping coordinated teams more than the ones who actually need it.
Yea people never want to acknowledge how SWF's keep the game unbalanced, but it needs to be addressed since it's not Surv vs Killer but SoloQ vs SWF vs Killer, there's three sides to this game. Buffing SoloQ in any meaningful way just strengthens SWF's x10, so then Killers need buffs and changes to compensate which then invalidates the original buffs to SoloQ while keeping the bulk of the buffs for SWF's to use. It's all circular since BHVR refuses to actually address any issues in a meaningful way beyond band-aid fixes to push out DLC.

I don't think DBD has botted player numbers at all. If you look at steam charts it has a normal 24 hour wave of peak hours which any game with actual players has. Typically, games that incentivize botting or AFKing have very unnatural 24 hour waves, like TF2 or Unturned.
I believe the rationale for you often meet the same players is because DBD has a multitude of server regions, and a number of them are quite small. According to this website:
There are 12 active server regions for DBD at this current moment. If you're a good player you're likely in the top 5th percentiel of Matchmaking Rating, which from a few semi-official posts is indicated to be seems to be the players above the softcap. And while matchmaking is loose, it'll still prioritize getting you into players who are also at the softcap. So realistically, if there's are only a generalized approximation of 200-300 players in your region at your MMR that you will connect to within the lobby in occurrence of a suitable selection of players being found most of the time, these will be split between two queues, which will further increase the probability of matching against coequal players as a selection of players perform their gameplay almost exclusively on one side, meaning if you too perform the pluarility of your derbies within one prespecified role, although you designated that you indeed occur within both assignments, you will indubitably have a higher probability of matchmaking against said said subset of survivor players within said parameters.
Nah I still stand by my statement that the player numbers are inflated with bots lol Again, I see the same accounts no matter what role I play and what time of day. Now not every single account is a repeat ofc, but I do see a lot of the same accounts, which should be statistically near impossible with the lack of a functioning MMR on top of what the player counts for Steam alone show, not even counting consoles or Epic player numbers. SoloQ takes 2 seconds to connect me to a match, there is no functioning MMR splitting the playerbase into 200-300 players per region per MMR range, that's a fallacy.
-
I'm not going to get philosophical about made up terms lmao When there's 1-2 gens left, it's just about whatever wins the game for either side, so any sort tunneling or slugging or camping from Killer is to be expected and is strategic as Survs just have to finish a couple more gens. I believe that's standard play.
However, tunneling and slugging at 5-4 gens is just egregious and what people are complaining about as it's happening in most matches. That, I do not believe, is standard play and is what should be heavily punished in this game to prevent Killers from doing it. Whether it's that ultra sweaty Blight that from the jump is slugging and tunneling before anyone has even touched a gen or even a wraith who's tunneling at 4 gens after their first hook to turn the game into a 3v1 as quickly as possible, both are instances of tunneling or slugging that should be deterred.
However, I do believe that any sort of anti-tunnel or anti-slug is impractical until SWF's are nerfed as any changes will benefit SWF's the most and SoloQ the least, which is the complete opposite of what should happen as this is a SoloQ predominant issue since SWF's can already counter most of it.

No, DBD is not dead just because you are losing interest.
If the game stresses you out, play something else for a while. I heard from a reliable source that Civilization is a very good game.
I'm gonna be honest, they absolutely pay for bots to inflate player numbers lmao All those "players" yet I run into the same accounts every other match no matter what time and day, whether I'm Surv or Killer or switch between both in a play session. That should not be happening in a game with this many "players".

And what is wrong with asking you the question, why do you still play if the game is so miserable to you, what keeps you coming back? If you think the game is unplayable right now, what would you like to see to turn this around? Valid points if you are actually interested in a real discussion on the state of the game.
"I ignore what everyone everywhere is saying and instead only believe privately curated stats" would have just been easier to type and more intellectually honest.

As opposed to just using your own personal experience and the (completely unverifiable) anecdotal experiences of others you see positing on TikTok and other forums to draw broad conclusions about game balance?
Some people love to dismiss the stats because they don’t support their preferred narrative. But these same people never suggest any alternative or better way to draw conclusions about game balance other than “solo queue is not fun for me and also I saw some people on TikTok say that they don’t have fun in solo queue either”.
Well it's very easily verifiable, go take a look around, outside of your created echo chamber. This forum is constantly flooded, despite you trying to downvote them, with people sharing their awful experiences in SoloQ; steam forums the same, reddit the same, tik tok the same, pretty much every single digital space, even popular content creators lol So yes, I draw my conclusions from a collective of the community who plays the game and not from the company who flops at trying to develop it lol

80K playing on Steam alone and they can't utilize MMR, yea okay. Maybe it's because the player numbers are inflated with bots. When I play, I see the same accounts constantly as both Killer and Surv, even if I switch my role it's just the same people, as if there's only a pool of 30 people in my server region. I've played games with 5 server regions with a max of 5k people playing in total and have seen more varied accounts than I do in DBD.

If you refuse to believe the stats or that anyone could actually have fun playing solo queue, there’s no point in arguing with you. All I can do is tell you that I have fun playing solo queue and I escape regularly. You can choose to believe that or not. Obviously this is true for many other players, because if it wasn’t, 1) the average escape rate for solo queue would be way below 40% and 2) nobody would play the game.
We know that solo queue is the largest group of players in the game. How is the player count at historical highs if all these solo queue players are having such a miserable time? I believe there are a lot of people who feel the same way as you, but obviously there are also a ton of people who enjoy solo queue, have fun, and manage to escape regularly. It’s evident in the escape rate stats and the number of people playing the game.
Why do you still play the game if it’s such a miserable and “unplayable” experience? What is your escape rate, anyway? I’m curious to know how infrequently you are actually escaping to consider the game “unplayable”.Your entire rebuttal hinges on stats that BHVR releases and not at all about the experiences of the majority of players, so no, I really don't care lol
You just cycle through the typical strawman talking points and even included the lamest one at the very end. Idk, do better, pretty lame tbh, I'd rate 1/10.

Solo queue isn’t unplayable. If that’s true, the how is the average escape rate 40% for solo queue? I’m a casual, very average player and I have no problem escaping regularly. So many people call solo queue “unplayable” but never bother sharing their actual escape rate stats to prove how bad it supposedly is. It’s tough to take the complaints seriously when nobody can actually show stats that they or survivors in general are escaping way less frequently than the target escape rate of 40%.
You should probably think a little more critically about the stats that BHVR releases through their own data collection lol I don't really care what you claim tbh, I think you'll claim whatever paints the game in a positive light, so I don't really take it seriously. You can go on tiktok and see clips of DBD with thousands upon thousands of comments from randoms about how awful SoloQ is and how unfun the game has become; you can go to any outlet for this game and see the same thing. SoloQ is unplayable and SWF's make Killer unplayable.
-
People are DCing because the game is atrocious for SoloQ players, that's a genuine fact and BHVR has done absolutely nothing besides making it worse and worse. Every single match of SoloQ I've tried during this event has been a complete waste of time where the Killer is camping/tunneling/slugging at 5 gens, no wonder they don't want to stick around for that slop. The main game isn't much better, with Killers doing the exact same thing since the PTB tunneling/slugging changes weren't pushed through.
You are right though, Survivors are ruining this game, it's just SWF's that are ruining it and have been since they were added into the game POST launch. If BHVR would actually rework SWF's to be fair to play against, then SoloQ could be buffed to be near identical and then Killers could be reworked. However anytime it's even suggested, people come out to cry about "how dare you suggest that I should be punished for playing with friends" when the entire game is failing because if you aren't playing with friends, the game is unplayable.
Overall you need to stop blaming other SoloQ players, it's not their fault that the MMR is non functional and BHVR does nothing but impose restrictions on SoloQ gameplay.
-
Then go play Killer and have it ruined by cheating Survs and sweaty SWF's lol The event all around just sucks unless you're in a SWF.

Then it’s a bug that devs never bothered to address because this was also true of Sadako and her tapes during last year’s Haunted by Daylight.
So they had this same issue last year?

holding a tape does not prevent you from entering the void, and if it does, that's a bug
Well then it's a bug and why she should be kill switched for the event. It is funny how the people above immediately started shilling for it though.

You're not "locked out" of the void, you're locked out of obtaining a void crystal. Again, you need to be transporting tapes or just not interacting with her power if you want to get one. Same can be said about someone like Singularity, you need to play normally before you use the event specific items
Uh no, I was locked out of even going into the void, could not access the portal. I'll say it again, could not access the void. Again what? You just posted a reply that signified you aren't comprehending what I posted and it seems a couple of you are having trouble with that lol No, the same can't be said for Singu because I can put that item down.

So don't pick up a tape. If you wanna go to the void, you're not accumulating codemned anyway. Just transport your tapes as a team and go to the void, simple as that
It's required to pickup a tape when playing against her and being locked out of going into the void until the tape is put into a tv across the map is circumventing the entire event. Everything else can be put down by Survs, her tapes cannot be, this is very simple logic.
@MDRSan said:
Do other killer items do the same thing? Like EMPs, Nemesis syringes, or Wesker's med sprays? Odd if it was just Sadako's video tapes.
Doesn't matter, everything you just listed can be put down while her tapes cannot be.

the issue is that the hatch doesnt count as a loss when the survivor hasnt done any gens, hasnt unhooked anyone, just been floating around the map potentially being toxic to their team mates by body blocking, take a hatch offering to spawn at shack and its easy escape and they maintain the same mmr for failing the objective of doing gens. Thats my issue with it currently…and it encourages hiding and slugging.
in some ways i do think the win condition should be team based not personal escapes, however, i think it would make escaping soloq matches worse. i like that as a soloq player although somewhat technically reliant on my god awful team that DC and makes silly mistakes or go next, these people dont really effect my games as much because im going for my own escape and i play accordingly. i dread to think if my win condition was based on the team as a whole with the type of team mates i get matched with lol.
Who cares? Honestly? The majority of hatch games are a cesspool of Killers being so toxic and unfun that they're often camping/tunneling/slugging at 5 gens. I just had a match of the event against a Kaneki with a wussy build, but even worse were the Survs I was paired with. Not even 30 seconds into the match and all three were downed with two hooked, so now I'm just supposed to play prison simulator since I'm being held in a match where nothing but hook trades are going to get done? No.
I parked my butt right in a locker and waited for the hatch and the Kaneki raged as did the awful Survs who were all down within 30 seconds. If BHVR got rid of DC penalty, I would have given them a bot and honestly they deserved a bot, not an actual human on the other end, but BHVR doesn't support positive gameplay.
Hatch should spawn with two Survs left, plain and simple. Then one Surv get's the hatch or the Killer closes it and forces gates at which point one of the two Survs have a chance at opening the gates. Enough of this toxic lame ass gameplay of slugging the 2nd to last or enticing Survs in SoloQ to rat on eachother while breaking literal game rules. BHVR needs to step up.
-
Step into what void? Every single match is tunneling/camping/slugging at 5 gens. Then ontop of that, the event offerings don't even stack, seriously, who's million dollar idea what that at your studio? How absolutely ######### lame.

As the game has become genuinely unplayable unless you are playing with friends in either a SWF, custom match, or two Killers event. The game just overall sucks now. The lack of actual MMR makes my matches in SoloQ a complete miserable nightmare, Survivor is not the name it should be, more like prisoner victim. Mostly it's people who are playing like it's their first match or once in a while I get a 3man SWF that trolls the Killer and the Killer DC's, which is another thing, the majority of what little games are going in our favor, the Killers DC.
Then I play Killer and it's sweaty SWF's nonstop, even though everyone loves to state how apparently most Surv players aren't in a SWF, yet almost every match I play as Killer they are in a party, bringing all their meta perks, and bringing top tier items. Then when I do get a SoloQ match for Killer, the game is unsatisfying and feels like slaughtering lambs.
The game has outgrown the mechanics it was based upon and BHVR is uninterested in actually developing anything aside from paid DLC content.
-
It's always interesting to see people advocate for special buffs that apply to Killers who don't tunnel, when in reality there should be no buffs of any kind. There should only be deterrence's for camping/tunneling/slugging, the only incentive to not do it should be how outright detrimental it would be to do it. Higher tier Killers do not need to do it and deserve no buffs for continuing to play how they always do, mid tier Killers who lack skill don't deserve buffs either, leaving the lower tier Killers who need to be reworked anyway.
The game needs to be rehauled, no band aid fixes from BHVR are going to hold up anymore. SWF need mechanic changes, SoloQ needs mechanic changes, Killers need mechanic changes and maps/rng need to be reworked.

Hear me out. I'm not saying for the whole game. However, we all know what happens when it's the last 2 survivors… Yeah, the slugging commences. Either I'm on the ground for 3min doing nothing or I'm hiding locker to locker. If it's the last 2 survivors it gives the killer incentive to pick up and hook and gives the last survivor a small fighting chance. At this point the killer has already won, it won't really hurt any level of a player playing the killer because the game is already at the end stage and he's already has half the kills, so he's just moping up.
The majority of this game is solo Q and we all know it is sometimes unbearable. So when we're teamed up with new players which is fine, it will give us a fighting chance in the end game.
People will downvote you but that would absolutely facilitate better gameplay for everyone since Killers aren't supposed to circumvent an entire phase of game mechanics in an attempt to stroke their ego. Hatch is supposed to be end game, followed by the gates… not a +5 slog of playing bleed out tag or hiding in lockers or doing busy work to keep crows off.
Yet they wonder why people DC the first second it's exposed that a match is going to waste their time and be so jarringly unfun. DBD needs to focus on making the game FUN for everyone involved, not for only those that are abusing another player.
-
I mean, the pallet changes haven't helped SoloQ nor curbed S Tier Killers since they mostly ignore pallets, it's only buffed SWF and further ruined M1 Killers, which ofc is because BHVR panders to SWF above all else. Maps should be dependent on Killer, density and size being determined by what class that Killer is, after BHVR splits them into a couple of groups based on their powers/map traversal.

no, it assumes it WILL BE BALANCED :)
DbD is balanced around casual survivors AND killers.
it aint going to tell only ONE half of the playerbase to "get good" while lowering the skill requirements for the other, it's not how things work here. either everyone has to get good or nobody does.
if they remove killer's macroplay that is vital for equal skill performance, then they're going to make up for that anyhow which you can see with killer design philosophy changing to more consistent and efficient chase powers with less defined or functional counterplay.
you can already see it with ghoul/krasue fundamental design - unavoidable free hit + freest catch up / mobility in the game + scamper for ghoul or unmindgameable / uncounterable head/body form powers with slow burn free tag, scamper and catch up.
the only way this whole thing works out is if they somehow manage to create an ACTUALLY viable compensation for tunnelling / slugging removal in which case the only consequence will be in DRASTICALLY increased amount of "win harder" killer matches and gen repair simulator.
The game is balanced around casual Killers and SWF, not casual Survs, that's a genuine fact. SoloQ is a disgusting excuse for an asymm, left neglected to rot.

The devs playing solo queue probably experience the same things as the overall solo queue player base. Around 40% average escape rate. That’s about where I’m at in solo queue as well and that feels fine to me. Anything much higher than 40% average escape rate and the game becomes a grueling sweat fest for killers. How do I know this? I play killer as well. Sweating your butt off for two kills at most match after against very good survivors gets unfun pretty quickly. 60% kill rate on the killer side and 40% escape rate on the survivor side feels the most balanced to me as someone who plays both roles about equally.
BHVR realizes that overall most players (at least those who play both sides) feel this way as well, which is why they balance around these rates. Of course they can’t make everyone happy, and they won’t be able to please those who have unreasonable expectations.I don't agree with this, but would welcome the Devs livestreaming SoloQ pub matches to backup their claims and balance decisions. The actual experience of their own game, I don't think they could handle it for very long.
-
Maps should have been split into groups based off of the Killer to actually balance the game instead of forcing the same maps onto all the Killers, causing massive imbalances. All those pallets are needed against Killers who aren't M1, especially Killers like Blight or Kaneki, but are unplayable for lower tier Killers with no map pressure who rely on standard M1. Same issue the game is plagued with how almost every single map in the game is so small you can see all barrier walls from standing at one corner, it's a nightmare against mobility Killers which has ramped up camping/tunneling.

what killers should bhvr think of when creating fun killers that are strong enough to hold actually work but also fun to play as AND against? (killers like demo who are seen as fair SUCK to play since demo currently is very weak)
None because the game is fundamentally flawed since BHVR refuses to address the real issue. People will downvote me but SWF need a mechanic overhaul and SoloQ needs a mechanic overhaul, those two things need to be completely separate while being able to work together on a team.
As we have seen, BHVR is releasing op no skill boring Killers since the game has been too ill-equipped for vsing SWF, so BHVR releases Killer slop to counter them because who's going to buy new Killers if they're immediately getting 0k-1k every match off the bat. Then months later after people have purchased the DLC, BVHR nerfs them just in time to release the next one. Meanwhile Survs keep getting perks that really only function in a SWF and even if they didn't, SoloQ is sooooo limited on the perks that are viable. It's just a circle jerk of a mess with no real end at sight, like a snake eating it's own tail.
