  • Doctor, even if he's a bit clunky at times.

But he's the first sadistic killer, his laughing left a huge impression.

The page is a huge WIP mess but mostly accurate, i guess.

    • Run 100% (4.0)
    • Walk 56.5% (2.26)
    • Crouch 28.25% (1.13)

When a big buff man is walking towards you with a knife you kind of forget everything right?

I dont know ST, so maybe they geek out after juking him like "Did i just get nearly killed by Michael Myers? Squeeee😍"

  • Multiple possibilitites

    • Alternate universe explanation, Myers is real/ Myers is not / Myers is real and theres a movie based on it etc.
    • They dont remember the movies because of " The entity did it"
    • Running away from a dude dressed in a murder costume with a murder knife is smarter than asking him if he knows he's in a movie....

These people that complain when something is slightly similar to something already in the game...and I mean slightly, it's not really that similar to anything...how many unique things there are that can be put into the game? If we throw something we are huntress or clown, instant downs are Myers and ghostface, stealth is wraith and ghostface and it goes on and on and on.

With this many characters things may follow the same path. It happens. The magnitude and combination can still be special.

    • Hillbilly, Leatherface
    • Shape, Ghostface
    • Trapper, Hag (trap setting)
    • Huntress, Clown, Plague
    • Hag, Teethface (the teleport)
    • Hillbilly, Teethface (the pounce)
    • Wraith, Spirit
    • Pig, Ghostface

As you said, there are lots of similiar skills slready.

  • Yeah you're right about some stuff and the general idea behind this thread is legit.

But you shouldnt have picked only killer perks ans then so many of them. You come ascross as a petty survivor.

Thrill of the hunt and territorial? Really?

  • Demogorgon gets stealthed (undetectable i think) after climbing out a tunnel (video's showed them with insidous' black smoked at the screen borders). They're 115% with the chainsaw attack survivors want (pounce forward without steering or instant down), which additionally may be able to hit multiple survivors or have a generous hit area.

While i think the tunnel might be a bit... Clunky. The demigorgon is definitely blinded because they might be able to see the survivors from below the floor because their vision isnt distorted like a nurse blink, it still has travel time and a entering-animation that limits vision similar to trap setting.

(Also those tunnels are definitely stolen from natural selection lol)

Atleast they have 2 probably good abilitites compared to pig who has 2 below average abilities.

  • Wow what an increase of all healing times can do to the perception of the act of healing if that heal isnt instant.

ALL healing except adrenaline got tweaked for the balance of the game, and suddenly "healing is bAd".

Back then ~84% usage rate for selfcare... " bad perk" ...

The tme you spend selfcaring is time you dont have to run around like a bleeding headless chicken, find someone, get their attention (hard to do if you're behind them)and then make them stop what theyre doing to heal you.

If you selfcare, that person can do generatrs the whole time you stand still and heal yourself.

Selfcare is designed to be weaker than medikits, who would use medikits if they'd be weaker than a purchase once perk? Thats the design. But selfcare can be used whenever you want, no need for item or anything.

Next time you're injured and got out of a chase, if you need more than 16 seconds to find someone to heal you, selfcare wouldve been faster. (Well obviously communication makes that easier, but thats the cwf issue, duh)

  • Well, with demogorgon getting a tunnel mechanic, i dont see why your killer shouldnt be able to teleport or blink (slight difference) from bat to bat.

You might add crow's mechanics to bat swarms, or replace all crows with bats. Or add bats additionally to the crows for extra tracking in your killer's kit.

For your transformation skill: with how often the sounds get bugged (i think they currently are again?) and te inability to see or attack, it does feel quite weak. I might be prejusticed because i absolutely loathe the restriction of basic tracking (vision, scratchmarks and blood) for spirit and legion.

The idea of echolocation (forcing loud noise notifications or those killer instinct markers of legion and ) and highlighting visible survivors might be better than just sound increase. Depending on duration/cooldown it might even trigger on running.

Im not too keen on creating perks in killer concepts as they distract from the main topic (the killer)

  • @BlueFang

I think @Tzeentchling9 is ranting about (probably survivors) some people whining and spreading some typical anti camping/tunneling propaganda in the name of caring for the StrangerThings sheeple/newbies drawn in by the new dlc.

I can understand the OP though.@Tzarl@Tzarl

  • Surge was the 32m regress perk? *checks wiki* Ohhh it applies instant damage additionally to regression.

    Now i understand the concern.

I think I heards it"s a 3 story map, as the TR has been changed to spherical shape, the range should work the same way, so people shouldnt be too concerned about it hitting too many generators at once.

  • It looked nearly as fast as a chainsaw spri t or short range nurse teleport in the clip ive seen.

You cant steer that teethface dash/jump, but its fast, it's kinda HB's chainsaw taken to the extreme, except the double damage and range limit

    It might deal aoe damage.

  • Those tunnels might be fast, but they still have an "enter" animation and travel time.

It also depends if a tunnel can be used while it is being sabotaged

In Identity v the basic killer can swap places with his 2 doll "sentry wards" instantly. I dont really see the teethface with his tunnels being any stronger than that.

Oh, so as a solo survivor I will know when the killer is camping; when to go for a save or work a gen; the general location of hex totems, traps, used pallets, nearly-completed gens, the hatch, slugged survivors (Knockout blindness), sabotaged hooks, unopened chests, and the killer's belongings (traps); all without having to equip a single perk?

Awesome! That means I no longer have to equip Empathy, Bond, Small Game, Kindred, Windows of Opportunity, Plunderer's Instinct, nor have to bring a Rainbow Map or a Map with a Black Cord.

So how do I get these benefits!? Is it in Settings? Do I have to buy something from the Store?

    /sarcasm

You totally dissed me by tellin me the exact same things I just said. You must be the wittiest person infront your screen.

  • Maybe charge attack instead of jump.

No he cant jump over stuff.

  • Must be one of the few who hate the speed curve on wraith, whats the point of an inbuild speed burst if you get slowed down to a standstill beforehand?

(Isnt that the reason clowns throw-charging movement speed penalty was removed?)

Also about wraith: making him completely invisible if x (16<x<32) metres away might help him.

  • You make it sound as if killing a survivor is something a killer isnt supposed to do.

If he manages to tunnel a survivor fresh off a hook, then that means another survivor unhooked wrong and the "tunneled" survivor failed at getting away or looping stalling the killer.

A killer is using noed is down a perk until it activates. Which didnt seem to be the case in your example, so why are you complaining about it.

The only people allowed to whine about noed are those who got hit first, the exposed warning afterwards is enough warning to get totem hunting.

If you dont want to get hit by noed campers, take your time to cleanse totems while that "bad bad" killer is camping and the other 2 are camping the killer because theyre greedy for the unhook.

  • It's more like hillbilly than pig because of forced forward movement.

I think teethface's ability is best explained as a jumping attack. You cannot control your character until he hits an object or lands again.

Ive watched a clip and i think the jump speed is faster than pig. It might work as gap closer/skill shot.

  • I admit that I'm really killer sided and like some other pwople can be really stubborn with certain topics (looping started as exploit for example)

Swf AND Cwf (Communicate, not cheat how many would assume) Do NOT have in-game differences to solo survivors. They mechanically function the very same way.

Swf grants a general knowledge of the behaviour or skill level of your teammates, and longer preparation time as you can already chat in the lobby before looking for a killer. This stillm s a huge factor in removing randomness and uncertanity for survivors.

Cwf adds real time information exchange and strategizing. This boost survivor potential power even higher, regardless of the Cwf group size.

Any method of debuffing, restricting or nerfing only swf/cwf will only cause the volatile part of those survivors to lobbydodge for "4 randoms who are friends" again. Which was the problem thast spawned swf in the first place.

But didn't they say surge is pretty much kicking multiple gens at the same time?

So wouldn't Overcharge and Pop goes the weasel work with it?

Im pretty sure thats gonna need to be proven on ptb/release. While it'd be nice, i doubt there'd be the desired perk intrraction.

Im pretty sure pgtw is triggered by the kicking action, not the regression.

For overcharge it might be possible if it's coded similiarily to: "repair on regressed generator, if killer has overcharge, trigger overcharge skillcheck"

  • "The killer already won with 3 kills, now hes only greedy"

    ... Seriously?

Thats the same as saying: "the survivors won when the gates are powered, now they must suicide or are greedy for an escape, that ######### sweaty tryhards "

The hatch is there because there was no bettet idea to stop losing survivors from just dc'ing or holding the game hostage by not coninuing to keep escaping.

  • Movement speed is one of the most influencial variables the devs could change. (See the difference in purely chasing between 110% and 115% killers)

It could lead to a whole balance problem, affecting everything from perks to killers.

  • Funny how people talking in favor of survivors always start bringing up those crazy "killer buff claims" once they start losing their arguments.

  • As with oh so many things for survivors, getting rid of the hatch isnt likely.

Theres a few things that annoy me tho

    • It grants the "Escaped" bonus. "Like a participating trophy bigger than a world champion one"
    • Survivors dont need to do anything for it to spawn anymore
    • It still opens/spawns when the gates are open.

Off tpoic but mentioned in this topic already:

Solo is only "miserable" because swf and cwf exist. Those two additional modes grant more/even more knowledge/certainity in this game based on randomness and uncertainity. And most players get used to that feeling about knowing the skill of your teammates, their intentions, current locagions and telling you what they plan to do.

  • Perk atuns got longer durations because of Enduring.

Enduring doesnt affect tthose perks anymore

They still have the same stun duration.

  • "Athritic Knees"

    "Outdoor enthusiast"

    😂

  • Lets assume that machetes, axes, handaxes, cattle hammers, dicksticks all count as long weapons

What would you give the others in return? Movement speed? Attack recovery?

If you were thinking about "nothing" i've got some seriously bad news for you about yourself.

  • Ohhhhhh. Well, the devs are considering giving survivors bp/s for survival category.

But xyour concern seems to be the emblems....

Sorry, no idea. The emblems are wellmeant, but have horrible flaws (exposed/chainsaws only counting once for example). And I'm pretty sure you cant force a killer to injure survivors for benevolence etc if he doesnt want to.

    • Use bond to guide the killer to other survivors and hope he switches targets.
    • Getting better at looping or stalling the killer will allow them to open the doors for you. Might increase the chance to get camped of they're too fast.
    • Cannot be tunneled if not found
    • Dont do "toxic strats"
    • Remember that the game is designed that you're eventually downed (originally).
  • You could try not being found first.

    Boom something you could do.

Sorry if that was too much.

  • We cant sugarcoat the harsh truth forever.

The earlier they learn the real game, the better.

  • Being the obsession should be a downside by base mechanics, you shouldnt desire to be the obsession.

  • Only 50% of trials start with 4 random.

That means that theres nearly a coin toss' chance a minimum of 1 survivor knows what the killer will do after hooking.

Also "campers are so common" that most survivors just assume its a csmper. That mentality is so strong they even scream it at noncampers, lol.

Sorry but camping works because sirvivors make it so.

  • hatches are not hitscan weapon. They have a variable velocity and ballistic arc.

Those kinda projectile weapons tend have slightly bigger hitboxes to make it less frustrating, especially in our spaghetti coded game.

Even if we got "character shaped hitboxes", they'd still be bigger than the cjaracters, like dwight put in a minecraft skin costume.

Afterall this is a "casual" game, "fun" applies to the huntress too.

  • Ive had a discussion of a similiar killer way back then when this forum didnt exist. I cant say it's from experience but more from insight how this game is.

On paper it sounds similiar to hag's teleport, but the "getting out of the locker part" would make it nearly impossible to get a hit on your chased survivor. AND very siruational.

Even with 115% ms (4.6), he'd be considered weak by the community. Especially with that big terror radius.

  • Just checked the wiki and i seem to be mistaken. My bad.

    Pig crouch is 3.6 (90%)

    Nurse is 3.85 (96.25%)

    4.4 is 110% ( huntress, hag)

    4.6 for normal killers

    4.0 for survivors. (100%)

Having a killer whose ability cannot help him in chase have a default movement speed thats lower than survivor speed makes the whole concept unuseable.

  • @Yung_Slug

Patches the spider? What a man of culture

But patches the survivor would bring so much more to this game. (Selfish/traitours perks, but thats off topic)

IdV has some spider, but i think it might feel weird to play that thing in first person.

As weird it sounds, predator is the only one who wouldnt fit this game, because his most associated ability is already used for wraith.

  • 3.8 speed is pig's or ghostface crouching speed. You just made your killer useless 😅

  • Replace "getting broken" by "getting grabbed instantly" and it might be a good concept depending on how often he can teleport. He needs some more oomph in his ability or a secondary ability as he's a 110% killer with an chase unrelated ability.

The map sounds like lery's made out of haddonfield houses. Could work, but might be a bit dull if not filled with "points pof interest". Currently theres not much interesting stuff in dbd houses.

(Lery's has that big central room, the office, showers etc)

  • As killer you normally cant affort to take it easy on a noob because there are 3 other survivors of variable skill.

And sugarcoating the reality of our game for noobs might backfire and create entitlement.

  • "Just break the pallet"

    "Just mindgame the safe loop"

Compared to that crap, "do the bones" is an actual hint or advice.

If you fear the noed, precautiously break them.

  • You gotta see it like this

If there isnt at least 1 overly strong or broken survivor perk, no "survivormain" will buy the chapter.

You buy a survivor for the perks or for the skin, and most people prefer playing claudette.

  • Looping is the easy way for survivors to survive, not the only one. Except it takes more work to evade a chase than just loopdaloop. Killers getting more tools (read:aura perks) to find survivors was the devs response to survivors finding chases more "fun" than other stuff. So the devs gave killers those "tools" to initiate more "fun" chases.

Its if as other survivors were the source of survivor troubles.

Imagine this: looping makes survivors so safe/confident that they dont see a need to heal.

There are supposedly somemythical survivors who can evade chases even when injured, but they cannot be real, afterall survivors can only loop.

  • @Fibijean

Read @SovererignKing 's history lesson in this thread. As far I remember, the devs a) didnt really understand what looping is by the time they talked about it on stream, and b) they were thinking about undping the collision changes but survivors lobbied together SUDDENLY wanted to be chased the whole game (obviously because looping made it a lot easier).

    @Atrushan88

If chases get shorter, survivors cannot dumbly "just do gens without a care necause someone else can loop the killer for all that time" causing the main reason for "way too short" trials to be lessened.

But in case it wasnt obvious by the attitude in this thread, looping itself will never be removed because the devs caved in 2 years ago and turned it into the apaarent main feature for survivors.

The whole survivor strategy/mentality of "stalling" the killer instead of juking them to give enough safety for genrush and those "way too quick" trials even some survivors despise all hinge on looping.

Oh for OP: it has not been "suddenly" been considered an exploit "now", it started the day it was created.

  • Nurse wears cloth over her head and can be blinded just fine as everyone else.

Teethface will be able to be blinded like everyone else, the reason being "lol entity did it".

Unless it'd be devs attempt at "blind killer can not see survivors but the sounds/blood they create. (Imagine spirit phasing, but permanent)... then MAYBE it could be immune to flashlights.

  • Maybe the devs based its animations/skeleton on hag's crouched posture.

  • @Thaznar

I never stated i was a dev nor did I asume or know the devs stated it an "exploit" or not. All I did was stating the fact that looping is, by definition of exploits, an exploit

"In video games, an exploit is the use of a bug or glitches, game system, rates, hit boxes, speed or level design etc. by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game's designers." Incase you or others didnt read my provided link, this is the first sentence of the article.

Now please tell me that looping isnt extending the chase duration by taking advantage of (synonym for "to exploit" btw) the difference in collision sizes around objects.

I am aware wikipedia isnt the most credible of sources to use but the article provided atleast includes the controversy of exploits being good or bad, the reasaon we're even discussing this.

"And while killers can still get looping survivors because theyre faster and have bloodlust, Bloodlust was given to killers because chases were taking too long, probably the reason being looping"

Im not actually too fond of continuing this discussion because it's obvious looping will not be adressed, either because its not an "exploit" or survivormain agenda

  • @Yung_Slug

Im part of the people who believe that you cannot nerf swf (because they'd go back to lobbydodging until theyre 4 randoms) or cwf (because teamspeak isnt part of the game)

Buffing solos with certain informations is the only way to go in that situation. But killers powerlevel (ALL KILLERS) will need to rise accordingly.

  • You are (ab)using or exploiting the difference in collision sizes to gain an advantage in distance.

And some people here ridiculing this very definitive exploitation of game mechanics kinda proves the past sirvivor agenda.

In video games, an exploit is the use of a bug or glitches, game system, rates, hit boxes, speed or level design etc. by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game's designers.[1] Exploits have been classified as a form of cheating; however, the precise determination of what is or is not considered an exploit can be controversial.

The controversy part is why we're even having this discussion

1 … 40 41 42 43 44 … 63
