There's actually quite a lot new players on red ranks on both sides since it's hideously easy to rank up on both sides if you really want to. On top of that some killers pip wayyyy easier than others (Legion vs instadown killers for instance) and getting rank 1 as survivor is.. Well.. Let's not talk about it.
So chances are op is actually rank1 on both sides and still new to the game depending on what you consider "new", of course.
Personally I think op must be new because of complaints like flashlights. Like seriously... How the hell can you call flashlights unbalanced at this point haha...
survivor is a joke in its self, had a nancy the other day that never looked behind her and missed so many pallets (rank 2) like wut even lol. but yeah most of what he complained about doesnt make much sense, some just isnt true and some i dont feel he understands why. like DS and swf is very strong but i feel he misses the reason why... hopefully the new ranking etc, will short the mess out though

It is for a while but you won't last just playing solo in my opinion. I play killer when I'm solo and swf the other times. It is fun builds but even just general chat is pretty good.
i do agree swf is more fun but i only do duo as the more in a swf it ends up getting too easy. i must admit i dont play the game as much as i use to, i always use to play solo and swap between killer and survivor but i dont tend to play killer much now as i always spin the wheel to which killer i play and some games you have to accept you lost due to the killer, map or just the team you went against which seems kinda silly tbh. i dunno i play games for fun and survivor is easier to do that on as if youre good you can show it but on killer skill doesnt all much matter anymore just depends if people do gens. like i havent seen a wraith, demo, hag, nurse etc. in months and thats what reduces the fun, the lack of killers you see but im not surprised by it either. i dunno if i could handle game chat on DBD, be way too much toxic behavior and screaming lol

Admitting that survivors can mess around instead of trying to escape kinda proves the advantages of Swf.
God how i hate the new catchword of survivors: "boring"
well i mean the fact that they have the ability to share information that would equal to about 9 survivor perks should of been enough to prove the advantages, let alone being able to choose the skill of the players within your swf

You won't last too long playing survivor not in a swf. This isn't me saying your not good enough to last in rank 1 without swf, it's actually me saying the game would be too boring.
I love to talk so playing in a swf is how I do that since their isn't an in-game voice chat.
There is a lot of this that is just plain wrong. The pallet one in particular is completely wrong.
i wouldnt say the game is boring, like i guess swf can make it more interesting because you can mess about with your friends etc. but solo is still fun, you just get ranks 1/2 that have no idea how to play lol. but rank means nothing anymore...
-
they should keep it, but itd actually be a very small not really noticed buff and survivors cant handle that idea of buffing killers
-
i agree the game is unbalanced and is survivor sided, but i dont agree with half of the stuff you have said.. for example (there are more than 20 pallets each map) this just isnt true, i think the map with the most pallets is hawkings and that has about 15? but that has alot of unsafe pallets so thats why it has more.
-
nah id rather them just balance the current 4v1 atm, i dont feel the game needs other game modes but it needs to be balanced so you arent forced to run meta perks as killer etc. or have certain maps that favor a one side.. i really enjoy the game and what it has to offer until you get those thing that break the game
-
i mean if i can get random sabo saves with a brown toolbox i find in the trial im sure the perk can work just fine, afterall you cant always expect it to be easy or a 100% to be a save. having said that though some maps are far stronger for sabo saves just due to lack of hooks or objects between, it does need a cooldown though but should only go on cooldown when you sabo a hook

Survivor perks wont change as long as the superior killer tactics remain as scummy as always. ( I would know, I play killer too)
Pyramid Head is the only killer to break the abusive chain with a power that actively discourages tunneling the same survivor and then camping them.
the main killer perks are so powerful the only perks to ever replace the usual have been Pop (after a major buff) and Corrupt Intervention for having a major effect on the match without external input.
i mean those killer perks are needed to have a chance at winning, you can have chases that all last less than 20seconds and still lose because you didnt have gen defense.. not all killers have that sort of power and with some loops it can take that to get a hit. im not sure what scummy ways you refer to though? cause camping is terrible, tunneling isnt beneficial due to DS, BT and if its a tunnel it probably wasnt a safe save either tbh. and slugging... well everyone has DS so you have to. a good survivor though can still be extremely strong without meta perks or even perks at all, after all gens are so very easy, a medkit or others can heal you (or just rush gens if you can loop without healing) and you dont need perks to run round loops... then you have maps, but lets not go into that.
-
i mean why would people run anything other than the OP second chance perks... They need to make those balanced or no matter the buffing they are too strong and even stronger in swf.
DS- Cant be hooked for another 60seconds, so you can waste the killers time by leading on a chase he cant hook you after or he leaves you on a gen. (new chapters killer kinda counters this slightly which is great but thats just 1 killer...)
BT- pretty much free save from anywhere, doesnt punish the survivor for doing unsafe saves and they can just run straight at the hook, the BT player can then block you hitting the savior, oh they probably have DS anyway.
Unbreakable- deadly combo with DS, killer slugs because of DS to try cause pressure but you recover faster and can get yourself up meaning no one has to leave the gens to get you, thats alot of gen progress.
DH- just extends certain loops, this can allow them to f up and make it to god pallets etc. which you must break and so you lose the chase and bloodlust speed.
While none of these perks but DS is insanely strong on their own (i only say DS because 60seconds is a long as time and you can get 1-2 hooks in that time and still be hit by that DS) but when stacked they become an insane group of perks, add a medkit so they can self heal fast making pressure harder and now introduce people who can loop well, and swf and you have completely broke the game and you will probably win every match. personally deactivate DS when you get another down and hook, and make BT only work is you arent in a chase.
-
i dont tend to use it because totem spawns can be very predictable and you kind of get used to the typical spawns and the distance between due to tiles etc. however if im aiming for a totem challenge or doing some odd build ill use it, id say remember exact locations of all 5 is hard it will normally depend on the map and positioning, but you will see 5 times anyway so plenty of chances, far better than small game for totem finding thats for sure
-
i mean the games broken AF regardless, as long as every survivor does gens its a pretty much GG. when playing killer you have to rely on the killer you play and their ability, the map, your perks and the survivors you are up against, unlike survivor you kinda just need your team to do the gens which is weird to say that there are alot of red ranks that dont. iv had killer games where i insta down in every chase within 20seconds or less and still people escape or i can kill everyone getting 10+hooks with 4 gens still left. when youre against survivors that can loop or they do gens accept a loss tbh. When the new ranking is made and survivor is harder to rank up so green ranks havent hit red they will see how broken the game is when you get 4 people that can play is, not to mention the broken meta of second chances
-
ruin and the rank reset. without ruin gens are sooooo damn easy and take no skill, a rank 20 can just be as strong as a rank 1 on gens now. the rank reset also means you need to win about 5 matchs in a month to stay that rank, those players that just hit rank 4 go back to 5... but i mean its not all bad as if it wasnt for the weak survivors killers would hardly play or be able to beat actual red rank players, i mean i often say it if the survivors do the objectives they win... kinda silly when you say it but its why you get games where you can get 10+hooks with one gen done because they hardly ever touched gens
-
shame sweaty SWF is a thing, i wish chill games was a thing
-
swf beats everything and some map designs are broken AF, the killer will at some point get a hit but they game is likely to be lost tbh. i have games where chases last 15seconds max and still lose because of SWF meta. blood lodge btw still unmindgameable pallet central
-
honestly i probably wouldnt mind but its the fact that survivors i get on my team are so god damn different to the ones i verse its annoying, its why i often avoid playing killer because i CBA to deal with swf, broken maps or a bunch of high skilled players all using the OP meta... like i wanna play for fun not get people being toxic towards me for using weaker killers or perks

Good to hear that the guide is out. Is there a link to it?
On another note, I am having some trouble orientating myself when it comes to finding totems on the map.
I have watched a YT video stating that totems are usually laid out in a pentagram shape? Is there any truth to it and is there a proper way to try to roughly guess the positions of totems?
Thanks again for taking the time to answer all my noob questions.
Cheers!
*I did forget to mention that I'm using a controller on a PC as I cannot use the KB+M, does that matter?
The link to my early guide https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/157659/guide-to-surviving-the-entity-including-loop-illustrations-with-basic-tips-by-stitch7833-zak#latest
As for the totems, its only possible to spawn 1 in each tile. so usually if you find one another isnt likely to be too close, its hard to explain tiles but usually just time teaches you them and the spawns totems can be in so IMO totem spawns are the more you play the easier they are to find/ predict
Well for survivor i would say that a controller is far easier, you can gain much easier control through the analog than you can through keys. i use a controller, so id say no it wont hurt you in anyway as a survivor.

I'd ask @MandyTalk, she's the one most likely to know the answer.
(She should have received a notification from me tagging her here, so hopefully she'll be along to answer your question when she gets a chance.)
Thankyou for the reply and tagging her, i appreciate it

depends on the survivors, good survivors will know of the 4 really strong pallets, as for the other pallets you just keep track of where they are, the spawns are actually easy to predict and as youre passing you should be able to remember the locations. alot of survivors struggle because of it being indoors and lack of sight. i personally feel its a good survivor map but everyone is different i suppose

Thank you for your reply and advice.
Will try to keep those points in mind.
Looking forward to a looping guide =)
I do have a couple of questions.
1) Can you control where you land after vaulting a window from the second floor?
2) About unhooking 2 safely, its hard for me because most matches I have alot of the other survivors just immediately rushing to unhook. Is there a way to offset this?
Cheers!
The guide is out btw, hope it helps! while its simple and is more focused on basic common loops it should prove useful or at least i hope!
As for the vaulting it will depend it you fast vault or slow vault, fast vault you shall be ever so slightly further out but not by alot or any noticeable distance.
My advice is never run go to far out of your way to get a save (across map) also keep in mind there is often unhook challenges in tomes which can make it harder, you can still get an iri medal by healing others though. Or if you own the perk you can use "Kindred" this will show everyones aura when someone is hook, this will let you know if youre the closest :)
-
So reaching rank 1 will just be on how much you play, currently reaching rank 1 is at its easiest but if you want some pointers i would say use BT, its a very strong perk and can make every unhook pretty much safe. dont worry about flashlights etc. they dont actually help you, theres a huge difference between earning BP and earning emblems. Bring a medkit in, this will make healing fast and make more time for gens.
2gens = gold
2unhooks + 1 heal = iri
death at endgame = Silver
Chases, just do your best. im making a loop guide for the contest so check that out later if you need help.
if you have any questions Quote me, iv been rank 1 for 3 years so i should be able to offer advice or go in more detail
-
well thats because survivor is easier, you can run 4 second chance perks and swf is broken AF. but no, sadly their isnt you just have to deal with it or dont play killer. i use to enjoy killer but im tired of 4 man swf all running DS, DH, BT, Unbreakable, like i wanna play for fun i dont want to sweat or feel powerless because i play some weaker killers.
-
well the games will be hard, i dont expect to ever see a survivor that cant loop unless its a swf. its no different if you know theyre good/bad now, you can just tell by their playstyle
-
Want to know what the best cosmetic would be? maskless legion, like the faces are rendered let me show them!
but i love the year of the rat cosmetic for jeff.
-
i got to endgame, let the killer hook me so i could get unhooked and run through the exit via crawling and DS. more worried about getting 2 gen grabs with the game not working right with grabs
-
well i own every perk for every killer and survivor, i also use cosmetics i brought because i think they look better... so thats why i dont prestige, like sure going from 1-50 isnt as long but as killer i dont wanna be going against meta swf with the worst perks possible. having all the perks means i can play how i want and focus more on fun than the grind
-
i may prestige him to 2 as well, his huge blade and body will look good but i dont tend to prestige because i own every perk on every killer and survivor. doing prestige 3 everyone as well would be a huge grind and honestly id rather play for fun than turn it into a long as grind (not to mention i own cosmetics i paid for and prefer those other most default outfits)

Tiles are 16m on a side. So if you know the tiles, then I think you have a good sense of 15m. :)
Thankyou for your reply! sorry for the delay, i did create this post and then for some reason i ended up having a bunch of issues with my account and was forced to make a new one. thankyou though very helpful.
