Circle of Healing's effect is not stronger than Devour Hope or NOED, sorry to burst that bubble.
CoH is too strong, so at least you got that part right, but your reasoning is wack.
What!? COH is the strongest survivor perk and easily triumphs over these two killer perks.
NOED? Against good survivors, it gets you one kill, at best. Since everyone leaves asap, or they break it, and save, making you lose. Or, if they're stupid and altruistic, you can get more, but that's down to the survivors mistakes, not the strength of the perk or the killer outplaying them. Same for Devour Hope, a minute of exposed isn't really anything unless you're on a really strong killer at the right place, at the right time. Generally, it'll get you one or two quicker downs, but that's nothing compared to COH.
COH makes it so survivors are always healthy, making killers unable to snowball and forcing them into the 12 chases/12 hook game, which is impossible given how all the gens are typically done after 4-6 hooks.
-
Make boons single use.
The survivors can bring up to four of these, and even if it is permanently disabled, you still get massive benefit from it no matter what. If the killer goes out of his way and breaks it, there's less gen pressure. If he doesn't break it, you have free med-kits for the entire match.
Additionally, make boons only affect the level they are on, to avoid boons being 1-2 floors above in specific maps still buffing survivors while making it literally impossible to snuff out without throwing (e.g the game, crotus penn).
-
@Pulsar said:
I'd rather it give you instant down per totems remaining in the match.
This would punish gen-rushing SWF's that everyone hates but wouldn't unfairly punish Solo's.
Before boons, I would've agreed with this. But now? Rewarding survivors for using COH even more, hell no? We don't need more incentives for survivors blessing the most powerful perk into the game.
-
I get that a one-sided event, catering for the already favourable role is annoying, but myself as a killer main, still finds it hilarious, watching a survivor crying, bleeding and moaning in pain, slowly walking away as a snowman. It's easy meme potential, and people need to stop taking it so seriously.
It sucks, of course, but its a short-time event.
-
Many reasons and could rant all day, but here's the main ones:
- Dead Hard being a crutch for survivors, fixing their mistakes without proper counterplay (No, ''just wait for it 5head'' isn't applicable when they're using it outside of your lunge range, and for distance. That's optimal DH usage, and you're clearly not a killer player if you tell others to ''just wait it out'')
- Circle of Healing.. Oh my god, this perk is beyond broken and needs to be vaulted or nerfed ASAP. No matter what the killer does, they will lose against survivors using this perk unless they're braindead. It's such a horrible feeling, knowing there is nothing you can do against this boon. The others are fine and have counter-play, but the nature of COH means there is no counterplay, any choice you make in response to this perk, is benefitting the survivors. That's horrible design, and the entire concept of boons is just ridiculous anyway. This is easily the most frustrating aspect of playing killer atm, and if I hear any boons go up, I either go stand in a corner because I don't want to sweat for a decent result, or just tunnel someone out of the game asap.
- Survivors having a double-standard mentality. They're allowed to bring their meta perks, rush the gens asap, do whatever it takes to survive and help their teammates, but god forbid the killer tunnels, camps, or slugs if its the most logical option and is needed to win, which is often true against good survivors where 12 hooks is not plausible. You're expected to play nice all the time despite the survivors almost never doing the same for you. I can count on one hand in my 2000+ hours of this game, of how many survivors have allowed me to get free hooks, kills, or gen pressure.
- Certain maps being survivor-sided to the point where it's not being outplayed as to why the survivors win, it's because they got a massive map, or one with safe pallets everywhere.
- Survivors bitching and moaning post-game chat because they're whiny as #########.
- The new meta of ''Hold W'' instead of looping is beyond boring and frustrating. I get why survivors do it, and how it's come about, but watching a survivor consistently run extremely early when I even think to go near them as a ######### Pig, or Bubba, makes me die inside.
- SBMM making matches harder for killer, but easier for survivor.
- Not that I particularly mind this, since I find it funny/amusing, but a winter event that is conveniently for the survivors only and benefits them with free health states.
- Generators being done in 5 minutes because it's impossible to apply gen pressure against anyone without brain damage. Finishing 2-3 chases to the gates being ready is boring.
- Killers being more reliant on meta perks than survivors. You stand no chance without them, whereas, survivors have more flexibility. Yes, BT/DS are needed a lot, but you do not get tunnelled every game.
Could go on all day, but those are the main points.
-

Boons and Dead Hard make chases unbearable, and if you chase for more than a minute 3 gens pop.
I'd say take a break until they at least nerf Boons, since I doubt they nerf Dead Hard. It's Survivors biggest crutch.
Agreed, COH is absolutely busted and is the most powerful survivor perk ATM, and makes playing killer extremely difficult. You're basically forced to commit to every chase, which isn't how killers win because it doesn't create adequate pressure.
Or just hardcore tunnel and camp, gets me 1-2 kills if I see a boon go up, no mercy.
-
In a specific HEX build, its good.
Ruin, Undying, Pentimento & Thrill of the Hunt is pretty nasty. I used it on Demogorgon, placed portals on the totems and used the add-on where I get killer instinct without holding M2. I'd portal and defend the totems, and even if one of them broke, it would be undying, leaving Ruin up with Pentimento making gens 30% slower.
Now, survivors can just ignore the totems or bless, but because of myself having the killer instinct defense, they don't have time to do it (it's like 30 seconds or more). Once you have ruin/pentimento up with decent pressure, you've pretty much won tbh.
-
Killer: 3-5 minutes during the day, instant at night.
Survivor: Instant during the day, 5 minutes + at night.
The only reason why killer queues struggle during the day is because nobody plays, yet at night, when the playerbase comes alive, killer is instant, which just shows how many people do not want to play killer, and just stick to survivor.
-
The game LITERALLY spawns the survivors on the generators, often spread out, to the point that the killer needs to A) Bring a mobility/top tier killer, or B) Bring corrupt, in order to not lose 3 gens in the first chase.
Imagine if the killer spawned right next to a survivor and started the first chase in 1 second of the game starting, and getting a quick down/free pressure, it's basically the equivalent to a survivor spawning on top of a generator.
It needs to stop.
-
To me, the biggest contributor as to why killer isn't fun ATM is because of boons, or specifically, Circle of Healing.
Shadow Step & Exponential are fine, they're strong, but fine.
COH? Absolute [BAD WORD] and needs to be vaulted until fixed, because it is beyond broken and any semi-decent survivor team with access to this boon will have an easy match. There's just nothing you can do against it. Leave it? Survivors have infinite med-kits for the match, destroying your pressure or chance to snowball and forcing you to commit to chases, losing gen pressure. Go and break it? 4 survivors are uncontested and the generators will fly. Break it mid-chase? Enjoy losing minutes of progress and pressure to the team and to the chase you just dropped. Oh, and did I mention that the survivor(s) can just bless it again, and again, and again? Even if it was one-use only per survivor with the perk, IT would STILL be one of the strongest survivor perks in the game. It's absolutely nuts, and the only time the killer doesn't lose anything when breaking it, is if a survivor is dumb enough to be downed right next to it. But that isn't the killer outplaying the survivor(s), that's the survivor screwing his team over.
Assuming the survivors aren't potatoes, if you hear this perk, you lose. Simple as that, unless you're a God Nurse, there's nothing that the killer can do. You simply lose the match, or you can tunnel/camp right off the bat and hope to get 1-2 kills, but then you enter post-game chat and get verbally abused by the survivors for ruining their match, because of course god forbid the killer wants to play a game that isn't just 2 hooks, all gens done.
So if I hear a boon go up: I either tunnel hardcore immediately, or face camp someone if I'm playing my bubba, who's one of my mains. Or, I just go stand in a corner if it's too boring or I can't be bothered.
Any self-respecting survivor with a little bit of empathy will not run COH. If you do, you're basically doing what Killers used to do by bringing a 1-hook red mori and tunnelling asap. You're just ruining the experience for the other side, and this isn't even a case of ''git gud'' because it's unstoppable lol
-
jUsT bAiT iT oUT 5HeAD
It's almost like using it for distance isn't the common thing now? No?
-
Yeah Shadow Step is good but you can ignore it by following blood, grunts of pain, footsteps etc.
But the healing one is busted AF
-
OP is so survivor main biased they don't deserve to be discussed with tbh

Boons are not powerful enough to warrant being completely destroyed why can’t killers understand that.
Map wide hexes like ruin and devour if not dealt with will stop any chance of survivors escaping. And there is no setup just slap on the perk and let it ride
Boons increased healing and no scratch marks in a section of the map with setup time aren’t comparable.
If boons worked like hexes as a perk where you don’t have to set them up and it’s map wide 100% healing speed then it would warrant being destroyed.
I'm sorry but infinite med-kits for the entire team isn't powerful enough for you?

-
Isn't it funny how hex perks can be permanently destroyed by survivors, yet killers can't permanently destroy a boon totem.
That tells you why this game is survivor sided, so many killer perks are controlled by the survivors and not vice versa.
-
You can't deal with them.
If you go out of your way to snuff them out, survivors aren't pressured and do gens for free.
If you don't snuff them out, then survivors have infinite med-kits, aura protection and no scratch marks for over 50 metres on the map, times four.
If you snuff it out mid-chase, the survivor gets time to get away, which is devastating.
You lose no matter what you do, so don't play killer, or just play Plague who counters boons with her anti-heal and anti-stealth kit.
-
What Halloween event? There isn't one lol they gave us 2 skins this year and nothing else when in previous years (when they had less money btw) they gave us much more and for free.
-
Well they nerfed one of my favourites, Wraith, for absolutely zero reason and implemented new survivor perks that make playing killer even more stressful, miserable, and unrewarding.
-
Even if Pig had 8 traps, with four of them placed on the survivors at the beginning of the trial, she would still be a trash killer and probably mid tier at best with the slowdown her power gives.
Pig's problem is that she is just an M1 killer with a power that slows down a survivor for a little bit depending on RNG. Depending on the survivors and the map you're on, a Pig can be looped for days and the traps do not do anything if you can't put them on anyway.
Like her other Iri add-on, it would've been nice if she had 1-2 traps left when using the video tape.
-
-Boon totems only last a minute.
-Boon totems cannot be revived
There, they still remain powerful & strong but no longer absolutely busted and giving survivors free wins.
-
Yeah it's pretty miserable for killers right now. Every game is pallet simulator 2021 with survivors using dead hard and every other meta perk to give themselves a second chance and extend chases by a lot of time.
The solution of ''Just lose some games to drop your MMR'' isn't a feasible or fair advice. You're basically telling people to lose games.. to have fun? When those things do not mix together intrinsically. People have fun when they are doing well, so telling people to not have fun, so they can have more fun down the line is silly.
MMR has sucked so much life out of this game, I can't be bothered with killer anymore and I have over 1.5k hours into the role. I only play SWF now, since its ridiculously easy, chill, and somewhat fun.
-
I used to be able to play this game as killer for hours on end at a time, it was fun.
Now, with MMR, I can only tolerate a couple of games at a time every few days. Playing killer just isn't the same anymore, almost every single game is against survivors who hold W extremely early, drop pallets straight away , play safe, run meta perks to extend chases (I absolutely despise DH, everyone has it) and occasionally are in SWF's to magnify the anti-fun this game.
I just played a game of Bubba on Yamaoka, got 1 hook and lost 3 generators for it. So after losing four generators by the second hook, I just couldn't be bothered anymore and face camped for 2 kills.
Like, can I not play a casual game as killer without needing to sweat every time? You dedicate a minute to a single chase, and lose 2-3 generators for it. It's ridiculous, and it gets so stale very quickly when the only way to win is by tunnelling and camping.
''But just lose, you'll get less MMR and start having fun again'' - Flawed advice, considering I'd need to lose a dozen of games to get anywhere, and once I've climbed back up, what then? I just need to accept that I'm going to get bullied for a couple of games? Such a flawed system, needing to lose to have more fun.

Why not just drop playing Killer altogether?
This.
Drop killer and play the easier, more fun, and extremely forgiving role.
Just look at boon totems.
-
Survivors rush gens and bring DS/BT/UB/DH (etc) to counter tunnelling, camping, slugging and regression perks.
Killers tunnel, camp, slug and bring regression perks to counter gen rushing.
It's a vicious cycle where in high MMR, both sides need the most powerful perks to just stand a chance, creating a stale meta. No one will deviate from the meta, because you'll be punished. No DS? Tunnelled out in 2 minutes. No ruin? Gens are all done in 4 minutes.
It's pretty sad, high MMR DBD is crazily unbalanced, thankfully its mostly a casual playerbase.
-
Because most survivors are toxic & entitled, expecting killers to play in a way which is beneficial to them.
-
Be honest with yourselves. You only find camping annoying because its an effective strategy. If it was something that didn't work, no one would complain about it, like tunnelling.
But it does work, so survivors moan and cry about it despite camping being the smart choice in many situations. Such an entitled mindset when you expect the killer to intentionally play in a way which is less beneficial for himself if it doesn't break the rules of the game.
Camping is fine.

People still think rank equates to skill? lmfao what a laugh
-
If these boon totems are weak, no one will use them.
Conversely, if they are strong, it will make killer even more unplayable at a mid-high mmr level.
Survivors need more objectives, not killers lol.
-
@throwaway79465468797 said:
Just look at kill rates for killers... and then make a serious argument about how the game is survivor sided
Killer rates are for the ENTIRE game's demographic. And guess what, there's a lot more newbies/bad players in DBD than good players.
Everyone and their grandmother knows killer is unplayable at mid to high MMR.

amazing. every word of what you just said is wrong. i recommend you to get better and maybe try to watch killer streamers like otzdarva to learn how to get 4ks for pretty much every killer.
Ah yes let me dedicate a career to DBD so I can win a single game.

And just how often do you find yourself running up against really good survivors? The kind of survivors that can do well against any killer; the kind that you would find in comp? I doubt that the SBMM is bad as you say because so far it seems like it is still pretty inconsistent. For example, I was put against 2 survivors with 400 hours on the last match I played.
Huntress is strong, Deathslinger is strong, Pyramid head is strong, plague is strong, Oni is strong, Hag is strong, and Demogorgon is strong. They are all strong, maybe not nurse level but definitely not weak in the slightest. It just takes skill. I know there are times where you go up against a 4-man swf who have over 2000+ hours, but those times that it actually happens is rare. Even when against survivors in solo queue that are pretty good, you aren't hopeless all the time.
Almost every single game. It's the same experience every game with generators being down in five minutes, every survivor running some form of exhaustion perk while holding W extra early to make it take minutes to down them. Just look at the killer streamers, like TrueTalent for example, every game he has is a 2-4 hook game and its miserable

If you take minutes to down Survivors, yes, you should get better with your Killers.
Thanks for telling me you don't play killer at all.
But I don't blame you, survivor is relaxing and therapeutic.

i can understand some of ur points but the spirit nerf and boon totems are not even out yet. hold ur damm horses
Spirit, fine.
But boon totems? Even the PREMISE of these perks is enough to make me never touch killer again. In-between juggling four survivors, protecting all the generators, tracking their perks/usages of them, creating dead zones in the map while remembering where they are along with managing my own killer power.. I now need to add finding a survivors boon totem to the list, and up to four of them?
Nah fam, I'm done with that crap.
-
The only killer who can compete against good survivors now is Nurse. But I'd rather not spend hundreds of hours learning her. Sadly, Spirit was the only alternative before, but these nerfs seem to destroy her viability against good survivors.
I was already considering dropping the killer role with SBMM/Boon totems. Spirit being nerfed and Trapper getting a pathetic buff has only solidified this notion.
Time to become a survivor main.
-
@Yords said:
If you think nurse is the only killer that can compete against good survivors, then you probably need to actually get better with your killers. And I'm not buying your statement of 2000+ hours.
You're kidding right?
It takes literal minutes to down good survivors with any killer that isn't Nurse, current Spirit, and Blight (map dependent). The only way you can even compete is if you tunnel or camp right off the bat, and even then, the win isn't guaranteed.
-
@landromat said:
Have you read developers news? Thrill of the hunt now affects Cleansing and Blessing so we have idea that survivor have to cleanse boon totem to get it's effect
Ah yes, killers now need to dedicate one of their precious perk slots to counter boon totems when they already need ruin/undying/pop/corrupt to stand a chance.
Boon totems are a horrible idea all around.
-
In-between SBMM, boon totems, Spirit nerfs, I'm dropping killer. It's not fun anymore and why would I ever choose the role anymore? Survivor is such a fun, relaxing, and hilariously easy role. Just find a generator, hold M1 all game until you get chased off by the killer, insta-drop all pallets while having exhaustion perks carry you.
-
I only play Spirit now when I decide to be killer. It's easy, stress-free and I don't need to sweat to achieve decent results, even against very good survivors.
It's a shame, because I know survivors hate going against a Spirit, but what's the alternative? Get looped for 3 generators as Pig, Demo, or Bubba? Nah, SBMM has ruined mid to low tier killers for me, I can't play them without ripping my hair out.
-
Used to be a Pig, Bubba, Billy, Demo and Wraith player.
SBMM has made it so I can't play these killers without needing to sweat or accepting that I can never win 9/10 times now.
So I play Spirit if I touch killer anymore, very stress free and fun to get good results without much brain power.
-
I'm a pretty good killer regardless of who I play since I've dedicated 1.5k+ hours to the role. As such, the majority of my games now are just extremely dull and boring. Survivors are efficient and good, they hold W early, split up and do gens, bring DH/DS/BT/etc almost every game with med kits with the occasional survivor-sided map offering.
Sure, I may deserve to get survivors like this, but it just ruins the fun. Is it really fun for survivors to just finish the gens in 3 minutes, get 10k, and leave because I don't tunnel or camp? DBD is a casual game, and its basic psychology for a game to be more fun if you allow one side to have the occasional match where they dominate and win easily.
It's what kept me playing for 1k+ hours. I would get the occasional game where I get no kills, or the survivors are very good and make the gameplay boring. But I wouldn't really care, because it was probably a 1/3 probability of that. The 2/3 other matches were easy 2-4k's and so, I would still play because I had fun.
Now? It's 90% the previous 1/3 matches I would had.
I'm done with killer, getting 3 hooks every game, zero kills, facing DS/DH/BT/IW and four med kits every game gets old really fast and I'd rather not Spirit or play dirty to win.
-
@Crowman said:
Survivor mains always asking for easier games instead of getting better themselves.
Survivors just got MMR added as well to make their games even easier since the four survivors are of equal skill and almost never weigh each other down.
But don't worry, better remove the only killer in the game that can handle high MMR survivors if you can't dedicate hundreds of hours on Nurse.
-
The problem with Dead Hard is when its used for distance. Good survivors won't use it to dodge a hit, they'll use it to get more loops which they wouldn't be able to without Dead Hard.
Now, this usually only means they get another loop out of it, but that's easily 10-20 seconds of additional time they've wasted of the killers. If every single survivors has dead hard, and it happens multiple times, it quickly adds up.
That's the problem with Dead Hard and exhaustion perks overall, they waste so much of the killers time that its basically a necessity to bring ruin/undying/pop/corrupt to compensate for this. Plus its boring, there's no interaction or counter-play I can do against a distance-used dead hard unless I'm one of three ranged killers.
-
No, lol. Almost every survivor team just holds W extremely early, drops pallets early, does gens ASAP, brings meta perks and leaves. It's so boring, especially when you bring anything but Corrupt/Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer and lose all the gens in 2-3 minutes because one chase took a little bit longer.
Whatever, I'm not going to sweat in order to win. It would be easy to camp or tunnel every game for 4k's, but that will just make the next game become even sweatier, and rinse and repeat.
MMR has kind of ruined this game for me. I played for hours on ends sometimes as killers, it was fun being able to achieve 2-4k's without sweating. Now? I need to sweat for more than one kill, it's so boring and I can't be bothered with it.
-
Killers like Nemesis, Pyramid Head, Spirit, Deathslinger and a few other additions have changed the meta. These killers powers ignore loops entirely, so it doesn't matter how good you are at looping, because someone like Nemesis, gets a hit no matter what choice you do.
The older killers didn't do this, they had powers focused on the 1v4 and weren't so focused on dominating the 1v1. Like Billy or Huntress for example.
Since these new anti-loop killers have become a thing, more and more survivors have realised that putting distance between yourself and the killer is the best defence, since if both of you are holding W in the same direction, it can take like 20-30 seconds to just REACH them before any loops happen if they begin running at 20 metres plus.
But then, survivors realised this also works against every single killer. It's largely why I love playing Wraith, he just negates the entire holding W meta.

or just leave
Literally this. NOED gives you a kill in most cases unless cleansed, and generally only comes into play if the killer lost the match.
It's not even that strong, good survivors know totem spots and will be smart by leaving if the rescue isn't feasible.
-
Camping sucks for both sides, believe it or not. As a killer main, I'd rather go find someone else and begin a chase, its more interactive and makes the game more fun.
However, if camping prevents me from losing and helps me to win, you best believe I'm going to do it. There's a difference between playing ''nice'' and playing dumb. In fact, just now I had a match where I hooked a survivor (on their second stage) next to a generator which was 80% done.
The survivors were highly efficient, good at loops and had 2 generators left, including this 80%, so effectively, I had less than one generator left before the gates powered up and I didn't have a kill yet. So letting the survivors rescue, heal and complete the gen will lose me the game, so I camped to prevent this. Forcing a trade each time they tried to rescue because I'm billy who can one-shot the rescuer, hooking them on the same hook and camp them with the generator, ensuring it went back to 0% and pressuring the survivors.
Of course they all complained in the post-game chat, calling me unskilled whilst I'm a billy with 2 meme perks who played fair until they rushed the gens, versus 4 survivors with meta perks, brand new parts, swf, etc.
I think camping is fine if its beneficial or greatly detrimental to not do so. In my case, its valid. If I was at 5 generators, its invalid.
Just my 2 cence.
-
NOED exists to give killers a second chance and to punish survivors who ignore one of their side objectives. Survivors cannot even complain either, there are plenty of perks to find totems ASAP and some maps have the most obvious and open totem spots that its laughable.
If survivors can have Dead Hard, then killers should have NOED - it's only fair.
-
The first three games I had were against face camping bubba's (in a row)
-
Incredibly sweaty. Almost every single game is against very good survivors with the same meta perks (DS/BT/DH/UB) over and over. These survivors also hold W incredibly early so it's literally impossible to apply any reasonable form of pressure before almost all the generators are gone considering it takes 2+ minutes to down somebody.
The only relief I get is by switching to a killer I never play, but even then, a few wins and the sweaty survivors are back in my games doing all the gens in 4 minutes.
I'm done with killer I think. Time to be a survivor main and get carried by exhaustion perks and holding W for a minute per chase.
-
The only people who praise SBMM are survivor mains because it makes the matches even easier.
As a Killer main, I must say sweating every game is miserable and considering how BHVR thinks making killers find survivor boon totems in a future patch is a good idea, I'm thinking about playing survivor only now. It's easy, fun and relaxing.
