Killer speed has not increased. The crows spawning is the only thing you listed that changed.

All I know is my matches were more pleasant when these people could actually leave. Now they're actively sabotaging the matches they're forced to stay in.
They're throwing down pallets, they're blowing gens up, they're running to the killer to be hooked or running StB to kill themselves faster, some are even bringing plot twist to bleed themselves out.
This is literally WORSE than if they were just allowed to F- Off
I would say making the match a 3v1 is sabotaging the match and that's from a killer mains persective.
But you do point out how petty these types are. How does throwing down every pallet and blowing up every gen hurt the killer? Clearly it is meant to hurt you, the teammate, in hopes they go to the forums and advocate for them to quit on a whim.
I believe the game is better off without quiters and griefers.

I agree, my friend, and I think the last point is particularly severe because it damages the whole DBD experience by trying to turn the game into something that it isn't.
DBD isn't competitive, it never was, never will be. So it shouldn't be approached like one.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3946581#Comment_3946581
To be fair, my friend, most of these games are competitive games, unlike DBD.
I think the game didn't really punish the "go next" thing because it wasn't really a problem, until recently when it became an epidemic.
All PvP games are competitive by design or by the players. You cannot place two sides against eachother and dismis the human nature to make it a competition.

The problem with this system is that it'll either be too strict and end up like it is now, or it'll be so loose that it won't do anything. I can't really see how they can balance it as long as camping/tunneling/new players exist. New killers will make dumb mistake that can get them killed. Meanwhile tunneling out a survivor super fast is definitely possible within the first couple minutes of the game.
Going AFK/running to the killer/throwing the game are reportable offenses, so I don't see why they can't ignore the system and just let people report the old school way, for these extreme cases. Maybe use that as motivation to improve their reporting system.
AFK is reportable but the other two listed would be ignored. BHVR doesn't record our games to verify. I wish they did because that is one step closer to detecting cheaters.
Yes there is a thin line between intentional and normal game play. But also take these false penalty reports with a grain of salt. There are those that want zero penalty for any DC, that will claim falsely penalized just to make the system look more broken. Not a discount that the system can produce false positives.

@CakeDuty said:
The removal of self unhook was enough. The system is super unnecessary and will most likely always end up punishing innocent players.
Just add Kobe back to endgame, where it doesn't matter if someone wants to die, and then keep it as it is, without the punishment system. Then i think it'll be close to perfect.
Too many thing at once, yeah. They could of done a stage approach. Just removing self unhook won't disincentivise runing to the killer or going afk.
False positives will always occur in a detection system like this. There are legit outcomes that look like go next. While not possible, maybe they should have an individule probability score for all players. If they do a go next like action the score increases. At a threshold the probabilty that player is trying to go next becomes more accurate.

By the way, chess-masters don't know if they're going to lose on the first move. All of the opening are well known and understood even by beginners. It's after the opening that the game begins.
Was being facetious but thanks for the insight.

Who cares? Let people play how they want to play. It's a game for heaven's sake. Why is everyone so concerned how everyone else plays. Play how you want. Could you imagine if you were forced to play as trapper or SM or what not because of their low pick rates? Stop forcing people to play in ways that they don't find fun. Being slugged is not fun. Full stop.
I'm not asking them to play my way. I'm asking them to actually play and not leave the damn match.
-
Players didn't DC often back then because there was a penalty. You lost a pip and players did care somewhat about them. Yes, there were players that depip on purpose to have easier games. Another reason why the the go-next is happening. You can't have easy games anymore. The SBMM system (when working somewhat) puts you in a match where you can't bully baby killers or baby survivors. That's where a lot of people got there kicks and now they are pissed.
Survivors lost most of what they had available to them
Lets name some:
Lost the ability to insta blind the killer.
Lost the ability to insta complete a gen.
Lost the ability to heal in chase.
Lost the ability to run to a part of a map and be perfectly safe.
Lost the ability to escape with others through the hatch.
Lost the ability to determine the facing direction of the killer on pickup.
Lost the ability to blind the killer when pulling a survivor out of a locker.
Many more can be found here: (For both sides)

Sure, but what if the killer can't catch him? Why should the 3rd guy just sit there? We have an abandon system in place, let people use it.
what about three slugs and the killer is chasing the fourth? There's no end to what some want to leave for because the goal is to leave at anytime for any reason.

The 3rd guy (other 2 are dead or slugged as well) has to wait 4 minutes or until the 4th guy is caught. Why can't the slug just abandon match. The killer can still look for the 4th guy while person 3 can move on.
Once the last guy goes down they can both abandon.

Oh, yeah, absolutely, don't try to force someone to play if they don't want to. It's not that strange, and this isn't a new problem.
Ever heard of chess? I love it. It's older than video games. I used to play competitively in high school. You know what happens when it's clear that your opponent is going to crush you in a tournament? I mean, when you are playing out of your league. You resign! Also, it's polite to resign such cases. It's totally ok!
Now, practice, you probably should play better placers, of course, just to get better. But, no one should force you to play. That's crazy.
So, yes, absolutely, I think there should be no penalty if someone doesn't want to play. They aren't your hostage. It's polite and courteous to allow someone to resign if they wish to. It's civilized behavior. Some chess masters know they lost after the first move. There are no chess masters that flip the board after that one move.
There's one thing in common between chess and DBD. No one wants to play with table flippers.

You know that people renege on social contracts all the time, right? It's just a nominal human behavioral strategy. Other primates do this also. It's not just humans. You aren't going to be able to escape it. So, embrace it and move on. And, besides which, the fact that I would deny that the community even exists in the first place means that any "contract" you imagine is, well, imaginary.
Are you asking for no consequence to leaving a match early. That players can be free to end their involment at anytime and move to another match just to do the same? Because we've been there, done that. 3v1 are not fun and not balanced for the survivor side. Especially at 5 gens. If a game essentially ends after the first down why would players wait in queue just to face the same thing again?

Yes, they do have the power to ban players from their video game, of course. They seem to be using that power to ban people who are cleansing totems and missing skill checks and getting killed too quickly, apparently. And, that's because social conditioning is a complicated art, because people are intelligent and creative and have agency. They should make the game balanced and not try to micromanage every interaction and let players come up with their own play strategy. At the end of the day, that's the only limit of their power. Sure, they can ban everyone, but they are a company selling a product. So, this would be a strange decision. But, if they do ban us all, I have like 1000 games on Steam that I've literally never played. I'd probably be relieved, tbh.
So you admit they are what governs the game. So a contract exists.
Your issue is how they govern. You see, that's two different things.

This is a strange tangent to go on, but I'll ask this:
Why is the killer not bound by this same standard?
I've had games where killers afk, or go face a corner. Why does this system not equally punish that behavior here?
It still ruins the match for 4 other players, yet seemingly none of these afk detection or go next systems even attempt to make sure the killer is active in the game.
Why do you assume I only speak about survivors?

The government has police that work for them and enforce their will. Whether or not any contract is real and enforceable is up to the government. Does BHVR have police that enforce this supposed contract which you have imagined in your head? No. Thus, there is no contract.
I wonder what this thread is about then? I wonder who decides what the rules are? I wonder who has the power to ban players?
Curiouser and curiouser.

Sure, people do things. People do things you don't like sometimes. But, you're never going to force people to do what you want them to do all the time. People are independent and creative and have agency. They do things. The best you can do is drive people away, which is what the game is literally doing right now.
When you are under contract, you can go against what is in the contract but not without repercusions. Players agree to play a match when you hit ready or waitout the timer. It was you and only you who decided to join the match.

It's called fixing what isn't broken, and it's a terrible idea generally.
A number of players leaving matches over petty reasons is an issue. Also this not new, before the disconnect penalty these same people would DC without restraint. I continuely run into survivors that give up after one hook. Run to me wanting to get hooked again if another teammate got to them in time. How as a survivor are you expected to play with teammates like that? The harder it is for players to leave early the better. Either they learn how to play with others or not play at all.

Would being permanently exposed no longer be a challenge? If it received a change like this, it would simply allow for the perk to actually get some use (it wouldn't be as obnoxiously explicit that it's in play at first), and would no longer be an immediate loss against killers such as Nurse or Blight.
The OP already point it out, expose does not work with killer's powers. Part of the challege is being injured the whole match and all the negative affects of being injured brings.

Honestly, my definition of tunneling is focusing on one particular survivor, to a point where the killer would drop whatever they are doing just to chase them again, as soon as they get unhooked.
That I think is problematic.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3942047#Comment_3942047
Again: in nine years and thousands of players, every single survivor who, at one point or another, lost to a killer who was multihooking was a bad survivor?
That just isn't true.
Your definition does not match the communities definition. By that I mean the part of the community that constaintly complains about it.
Tunneling by most is hooking the same survivor twice in a row. Lesser definitions include, starting a chase with an unhooked survivor, finding the survivor again randomly and going after them, and going after someone even after hooking other survivors.
While it would be nice to hook every survivor to death hook that is simply not practical. You will run into survivors on death hook that will have to be either ignore, injure, or slug. And don't you dare slug you deplorable killer main.
In the course of a normal match some survivors are going to die early. Sometimes the weakest link is just bad at not getting found while the others have enough sense to pre run or hide.

How can nine years of gameplay not be proof of anything?
I say it again: nine years of gameplay where countless killer games were won by killers who multihooked. Nine years, covering every single DBD meta, matchmaking system, powers and perks.
And, in nine years and thousands of players, every single survivor who, at one point or another, lost to a killer who was multihooking was a bad survivor?
Sorry, but that just isn't true.
Think this argument has been too black and white. Because there are four survivors doesn't mean you have to 2 hook everyone before killing nor do you have to only hook one survivor until dead.
You can exclusively hook 2 or 3 survivors and eventually kill one. Ignoring one survivor to make it a 3v1 quicker can not be consider tunneling.
The best case scenario for killer, outside of tunneling out one asap, is one on hook, one slugged, and one in chase. Keeping the rotation going until one is dead. At that point the damage should be too much to recover. Now is this possible for all killers? Depends on all involve like everything else in this game. Up against a really good swf, not going to happen.
-
Stealing your friends kills is just common courtesy.

I agree. There should be no reason that disconnecting on the loading screen shouldn't invoke a matchmaking penalty.
and there should be no reason for the first hooked survivor to immediately kill themselves on hook.
-
@Valuetown said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3941741#Comment_3941741
You do not get a disconnect penalty if you disconnect on the loading screen. Most killers who are insecure about their skills against competent survivors force close the game if they see a map offering. I see this at least 3 times a day from the killer side. They are free to relaunch the game and queue right back up. The only thing you lose is the offering you burnt, and any addons you might have had. A very small penalty, especially considering the relative ease in which killers get their best add ons.
If that be the case then I would want that to change. My argument has always been, once you hit that Ready button or waitout the 60s to back out, you have commited to the match. To leave or refuse to play is ruining the experience of the other players who also agreed to play that match. It doesn't matter which side it is.
If killers are DCing during loading, punish them. It's all the same to me. But what I and many other players experience nearly every day we play is someone with a chip on their shoulder refusing to play the match they agreed to play.
-
@Valuetown said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3941584#Comment_3941584
What part of disconnecting on the loading screen is lobby dodging to you? Once the timer hits 0, the match has begun. Burning offerings are a part of the match...
Okay, we are talking about to different things because I misinterpreted your original statement. Fair enough.
Disregarding my previous replies, I still think the statement is incorrect mainly due to this:
Killers are allowed to "go next" for free, without penalty, all because they don't like the map.
It is my understanding, if DCing during the offering screen, a penalty is still issued. Because in order to pull this off you either have to pull your Internet connection or force close the game. As anyone who has to deal with DBD over the years knows, you get a disconnect penalty even if the game crashes while loading.
-
FOMO works through social pressure of needing the lastest thing. No one is judging you for not having the lastest charm.
The only thing that I would consider FOMO are the removed chapters. Any license can be pulled at any time and if you don't buy it while it's here you won't be able to again.
-
@Valuetown said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3941545#Comment_3941545
They are not equal, yet you are adding instances of lobby dodging to try and help your argument, which wasn't even the point of this entire topic.
Keep the goalposts in place please.
Where was I the one bringing lobby dodging? I was replying to you.
Also to make an equivalent statement, assuming people are disconnecting for your killer selection, being first found, etc, do you know how many killers disconnect on the load screen when they see a map offering? I would also consider the killer offering screen dc an epidemic.
-
