Don’t know if mentioned already but bc I just experienced it:
if I come to save you off the hook from the other end of the map (and no one else is coming), don’t attempt an escape from hook right in my face or else I will assume you want to try it again until you are in struggle phase.
-
not really enjoying it most of the times.
mostly because of sweaty killers or self-proclaimed pro survivors that are actually the worst antimates (and mostly the ones accusing everyone else as „potato“)
there can be fun matches though, which can make up for it. I also recommend trying to befriend survs you had good matches with and then play SWF with them (no comms necessary but also possible I guess)
-
That would be okay, but maybe only show SWF after chat is closed..
I don’t want to be accused and insulted for using voicecomms when I am not even using anything like that. I am playing often with other random survs that I befriended because it was fun playing with them. Never use voice comms here though..
-
Yeah I was pretty excited about the potential rework and hope there will be some kind of acknowledgment by the devs.
they can even leave goblin face as a cosmetic in but pls rework the default face and don’t charge for it 😅

Condescending..... I said we agreed... and multiple times I said the issues was just having a different view on things which cannot be solved through arguments as we just feel differently, hence I wanted to end that debate.
No my problem is not that DS exists, I understand perfectly fine why it does, its about how it functions in certain scenario's and how it invites/requires what is imo toxic behavior (tunneling) rather then do what it was meant to do, which is protect a survivor from being tunneled to death.
Well if you really just want to get rid of any potential DS before the gates are open, you can still „tunnel“ but as soon as DS got used, stop that tunnel. If no DS was used, slug the person and don’t immediately re-hook. No one will be able to call you out on tunneling this way and you get rid of any potential DS in End-Game.
Problem is that will give survs plenty of free time, and I guess it will result in „genrush“.

"or just tunnel before the gens get done. It’s not against the rules. But don’t act surprised if the survivors don’t cheer about getting tunneled."
yeah....that is literally what this thread is about...
And as if survivors cheer you on for running NOED lol or Ranchor for that matter.
Im not asking for a free kill at all, I already downed the person, the kill is pretty much in the bag, the work to attain it has been done for 90%, its about not having an answer for DS in tha...ya know what, never mind, I cant keep going over this back and forth and just repeating myself, like I said before, lets not continue this as...well for one I dont think you truely understand the problem when I read this last reply but other then that I think we just have a different view on it...and yet we dont judging by your last suggestion.
Okay lets act like you are not asking for the free kill because you downed someone - bring a green Mori and you got your kill. Even better: since that person was hooked 2nd time (you are saying you could have gotten DS out of the way with tunneling before) no one really complains. There are multiple ways to handle this situation.
Or your only problem seems to be that DS exists in the first place.
either way, please phrase your next answer again like your others, my English is not well enough to argue on THAT condescending level and I will not bother answering again.

camping imo is more akin to the killer just throwing the game, they dont actually want to play because well they arnt...
its closer to survivors just running up to the killer and letting themselves die, I mean sure you can ... not kill them at that point and then we just all sit there nicely afking, otherwise you kill them, nobody gets points or pips or anything and its kinda the same scenario.
The scenario I describe however is one of actually playing the game and having no answer for something just because you played nicely hence it invites tunneling as that is the only way to get rid of DS so this cannot happen.
But lets not go back and forth on this, your stance is that its ok that something is unfolding infront of you that you cant do anything about because its a game and I disagree with that myself, so lets just agree to disagree.
You are basically asking for a free kill because you played nicely though.
and even then there are mechanics for you - bring rancor for example, or NOED and go for the unhooker alternately Make Your Choice. Or camp when exit-gates are open, most survivors don’t even complain about camping in this situation. There is plenty you can do.
or just tunnel before the gens get done. It’s not against the rules. But don’t act surprised if the survivors don’t cheer about getting tunneled.

That is not the point, its about a situation unfolding that you have no control over, you can see what is happening but cant do anything about it, that is what is so lame about it.
And its not nearly as situational as you seem to insinuate, having someone on the hook when the doors open is like... super common, and if you played fairly the entire game, chances are high they have their DS still, which is what this is about.
DS in an attempt to make it more fair for survivors in certain situations, makes it unfair for killers in certain situations, meaning to killer would have to play in an unfun manner in order to keep some control, that is the point of this thread.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1216790#Comment_1216790
Suspicious? I explain quite objectively what the problem is, I dont want to tunnel because I know its not fun for the other side so I avoid doing so at all times, but its not very fun for me to rob me of a kill in the end purely because I played in a fun for all manner and now I dont have an answer for the situation infront of me.
I mean, a simple solution would be DS no longer functioning once the End Game Collapse is in effect for example, but that is not really what this thread is about, its about how DS creates a powerful uncounterable safe zone for survivors using it when the killer plays in a way that is fun for the survivors.
Its about how a perk goes from helping a helpless survivor from a tunneling killer, to providing a position of power against a killer that does not tunnel. Instead of helping the helpless it then punishes the fun and fair, not to be too dramatic about it.
It’s a situation that you have no control over - okay but this is a game and again just one situation (even if common).
There are many situations on both sides like this but no need to justify unfair play. You did not get that kill. The survivors have to meet many criterias to get in this situation, they need to have all gens done, a gate open, being hooked somewhat near the gate and have DS equipped and not used.
in another way - getting camped is pretty common and you as surv have no control over that situation. And? Most people here will say „just let yourself get camped, others do gens and escape“
-
I am always shocked at those „just do gens/BT/DS“-etc excuses for hard camping. If there are so many counters and only noobs do this, and only noob survs fall for it - were is the harm in a mechanic that directly prevents it?
-
Well, that scenario is pretty situational though, and maybe those survs are just escaping. There is no shame in not getting that one kill in the end.
even though it’s apparently your job to kill, that’s not necessarily true. This is a game, have fun, don’t obsess about this one potential kill, you got the hook and probably some more before in the match, you had chases, you injured and downed survivors.
-
@sulaiman said:
Yes. Depending on your skill level, its the choice of being stomped and getting some kills.
You want to know my experience as killer (note i play killer only about 30-40% of the time, i am a survivor main).
If i dont camp and tunnel, the chances i get no kill increase. if that happens, in 95% of the games you get insulted and belittled by the (mostly swf) survivors in the aftergame chat. Babykiller, ez, git gud, all the stuff. Thats happen if you play nice.
If i do camp and tunnel, i still get insulted after the game, but at least i got some kills. And i get the insults anyway.
Survivor toxicity ruins the game, because it breeds new toxicity.
its not only survivor toxicity though. Killers are pretty much the same (I don’t say worse but same). Often when escaping you get insulted for genrushing, SWF even though both were not true in the match, getting called out for running BT or DS without even using it etc. Otherwise when downed/tunneled there are killers insulting you for that. I even got the odd killer making fun of survivors that run non-meta Perks..
But most of the time, that’s not the case - on both sides. Not every survivor team that escapes will insult you like this - but if you tunneled/camped chances increase that’s the reason they do this.
-
Glenn would be cool I guess and brings potential for cool perk ideas. But I really wanna see Carol as a survivor in DbD, elderly woman, well established character in TWD, been there since the beginning, cool cosmetic options.
As for killers, Beta is possible but so is Alpha I guess. And Negan with Lucille is also possible. But a survivor paragraph would suite better if they can’t come up with an interesting power idea.
-
As already mentioned, just don’t camp or tunnel.
you will face some toxic scum that won’t appreciate it though and that will try to „bully“ you, ignore them as best you can. Don’t let them get you down so that you let your anger out at the other survivors that don’t play like this.

yeah if you dont do gens and just go to get hit by a killer its possible
It’s not THAT bad. Acting like it just makes the killers that complain rightfully about imbalance seem like they belong to people like you and are also only crying.
There obviously are problems in this game but not in every match and not only on the killer side.
-
As long as there are killers who can get a 4K against a 4 player SWF on comms no Killer should ever complain about survivors (and yes, there are killers capable of this even with your low-tier killers).
OR maybe we can look at balance and unfair strategies on both sides and try to make the game more fun for both sides.
-
I am pretty sure the „potato“ survivors will have an even worse time than before though, but „git gut“ I guess.
the „potato“ killers will still complain because matchmaking will result in some games where it’s not super ez for them. (Remember: no „git gut“ here pls)
for the „pro“ players, not much will change. The toxic ones will still be toxic and ruin the experiences for the others.
-
i wouldn’t use the term toxic in this case, and it also depends on when you DC?
during loading so everyone gets send back? This is pretty much equivalent to lobby-dodging killers and totally okay (but annoying for the rest but still- same-y as lobby dodging)
during the game it’s really damn ‚toxic‘ and one example why dc-penalty’s are somewhat needed.. you could just hook-suicide - the Killer obviously wanted an easy and fast game if he used a green/pink mori, so no reason for him complaining here.
-
How can you stay at rank 13 with constant 3K or 4K when you don’t camp or tunnel?
I play doctor myself and around rank 12, I get pips left and right even with 1 or 2K (I only play Killer rarely and then comes rank reset so I don’t get really high). And apparently I am super lucky because I have never been accused from survivors of unfair/toxic behavior or anything.
But then I play survivor and the insults are coming, mostly from killers... and I never teabag/flashlight click or anything
-
Don’t you know, survivors are not allowed to complain bc there are survivors that play well (those that don’t play casually, mostly well coordinated in a team). If you don’t play optimally you are not allowed to have fun according to this community (that’s different when you are killer though).
this is not something that is only observed during events, it’s pretty normal behavior, doesn’t have anything to do with ruin change also.
-
BBQ can be a problem on high mobility killers, and those counters are not helpful as solo surv. Or what would you be doing while your teammates are hooked/instantly being chased? Stay in the locker? And then? Pray for hatch.
distortion is a joke, hiding behind a gen is highly unreliable, getting near the killer is not always possible and can lead to you leaving scratchmarks or even better, being super near and have your aura revealed.
i agree that the aura reading isnt much of a problem on most killers though. And it’s a long time that I experienced a skilled hillbilly. But then again most of my teammates with DS, BT, unbreakable or Adrenalin can’t make anything out of it and make so many mistakes just because of those perks that it benefits the killer.
but I guess complaining about overused situational survivor perks is okay, but never ever complain about an overused situational killer Perk.

Yes no skill scrubs who have to camp make the game unbearable, but what is the better outcome...escape even if you depip or reward the no skill fly larvae a 4k? I am sure most campers don't care about losing BP or rank, but at least if three of you get out you can taunt him mercilessly for being...well trash. I'd not want to let some camping killer think he won and was actually good just so I could get some extra BP. If a killer camps...punish him.
I couldn’t care less about those killers tbh.
i want to play the game for myself and my enjoyment, I would rather have an entertaining game in which I die than only do gens and escape.
this whole taunting others is another reason why this game is unbearable. In many situations.
-
Doing gens in these scenarios might be the best choice if you want to escape. But camping killers make the game so incredible boring, no one wants to just sit on the gens and then escape.
also it would pretty much guarantee to loose also a pip bc you don’t get any helping or chasing points.
-
When browsing this forum I always wonder how I don’t get to experience those hateful survivors that often (I do see them just not that often) but run into so many killers that behave like this or worse..
-
Well looks like you did not read the Killers rulebook for survivors and now you got what you „deserved“.
i mean facecamping, which takes away playtime and points from you and your probably random team, is a reasonable punishment for pressing a button a few times when the game was already finished (and where that killer probably also facecamped another survivor).
-
The only time I went down was against a doctor who semi chased me after a hook rescue so the timer went down a little and when I finally go away I snapped out of it and during this the bar went down and so did I 😅
other than that, I have pretty much never seen any survivor go down from Deep Wounds I think..
-
Yeah it should go back to your inventory. It’s not a consistent behavior though, since equipped items and addons stay equipped.

When a killer goes out of his way to slug everybody at once? Yes, I agree, that's toxic. You shouldn't mix that type of player with the general killer playerbase. Just like we killers don't, or at least shouldn't, add the SWF hit squads in with the general survivor playerbase.
I've been bm'ed because I successfully mindgamed an infinite. It happens both sides. Just ignore it and move on. Not belittling your experience, just that it's not uncommon. It's a competitive game by nature, and you have players that project their inadequacies on the other side.
I don't think any one add on is op. A combination can make them, though. Iri head, for instance, it one shot, but Huntress only has one hatchet. She misses, she's down to M1 slapping. It's only when it's added to the Infantry Belt that it is a bigger threat than it should be. Devs should look at that, not nerf the individual addons.
There are hypocrites in this game, I agree with. I've found myself sometimes falling into that after a few frustrating games. Just need to roll with the punches, and sift through what is accurate, or viable, and what isn't.
This is really well written, I have to agree with it except for one little bit: just ignore it is not a good advice you can take every time sadly..
as a not pro looping solo or 2-swf without voice com surv, the toxic killers can really frustrate you. And this hasn’t changed to better or worse with the ruin change. Only really change I experienced was after EGC was introduced: killers are now never giving the hatch to the last surv which I have seen quite often before!

Honestly please no.
The Xenomorph is meant to be an unstoppable, terrifying, killing machine.
The last thing we need is that legacy ruined by survivors t-bagging it at the exit gates.
But in this case, the Xenomorph would be under control of the Entitus, like all the other killers. That means it is restricted and not meant to be exactly like in the original movie/game as I see it.
and if you played the game, you know you can trick the Alien in ways that should not be possible when considering the movie-lore..
-
Should be liked by all those that say SWF should get less Perk slots.
I like it. Better than WGLF, this one can bring toxic behavior if someone only cares for his stacks..
also BBQ is pretty much gifted double BP since in most games you hook everyone at least once, also it goes with free aura reading which can be pretty strong on some killers (Billy, spirit, Freddy).
-
I like it
Could also be an Exhaustion Perk, maybe with adjusted duration?
-
The whole SWF/voice com issue is pretty much non existent, in most cases you can see who the killer is very early on (traps, jigsaw boxes, plaque fountains, freddys clock on the icons etc) so making the basement killer dependent would not make that much of a difference. But customizing it on your own would be also pretty cool. (I would as survivor go more often in the basement just to look at the decorations)
for survivors I don’t see any map area really fitting, give them each one character specific animation like suggested in another thread instead 👍
-
I thought everyone would agree that button mashing for wiggle and struggle are tedious and unneccessery?
i am playing with a controller on pc and even though my stick and buttons didn’t break (yet) I still think a rework should come (press and hold the button? Automatically but skillcheck-based? Anything other than what we have now..)

Erm... Never happens the other way around that I have seen although I could see a killer doing that if provoked like the survivors being toxic
Yeah no. Sorry but that happens quite often.
actually this Forum is full of killers telling (casual) survivors to git gud. Maybe not in these exact words but not less condescending.
but somehow this is okay since some survivors have the experience and skillset to outplay rank 1 killers which apparently should not be possible.

(edit: sorry did not want to sound harsh, but those types of comments are not very constructive and can always go both ways..)

The ranking system is flawed here, but for both sides (as usual).
if a killer is afk survivors can’t pip (if they don’t dance in the terrorradius to simulate chases that is).
but the system encourages interactions and „fair“ play so matches can be more entertaining, for both sides again. And this system -while flawed- is definitely better than just escape/kill-based ranking.
-
Well you cannot under any circumstances count those ez 4K games. Those are potato survivors that made many many mistakes and shouldn’t be on red ranks!

if you ever 4ked in game as a killer those survivors were bad thats it. Killer s play doesnt matter at this point!
Yeah, thanks for proving my point... (I hope you are being sarcastic here though^^)
-
Maybe look at it the other way: If they were adjusting gen-speeds so killers that are considered bad have it easier, the killers that are now considered strong would get even stronger. So they have to be balanced "down" to other killers strength before any way of fixing gen-speeds. Otherwise those overused strong killers will be even more overused and fixing them then would even be harder since everyone would complain then more than now.
Ofc ideally you would balance everything in one go, but that is not feasable at all.
-
While I see that gen-speeds can be a problem in matches with highly coordinated/ "gen rushing" survivors I really dont see the point of these kind of posts.
There are matches that end in 4 Mins because the killer got everyone (slugging, a good bubba, just bad spawn and of course matchmaking play a role in this). The only counter argument that comes then is "potato survivors" "git gud survivors" "the survivors made mistakes".
And as I understand it, not every match for those complaining about gen speeds is like that, otherwise they would drop in killer ranks I assume which apparently does not happen, because often those posts come from rank 1 killers. But even then the arguments against "potato survivors" lingers.
Maybe it really is the matchmaking that is broken und you were just matched against better survivors (that you should not have been matched against in the first place) and it's not (only/mainly) gen speeds that are broken.
-
It would be very cool if every survivor had their own unique ability plus a downside that balances it out. But I guess balancing as of now is hard and adding something like this to every survivor is way too much work and would end up really bad so that you only see the 2 Meta-survivors.

You don´t think that a surv thats in a a locker for 30 minutes isnt holding the game hostage? I mean yes you can kill him, but you dont want to, because you want this stupid achievement, then what?
Either both killer and survivor are to blame here or no one. Why should the surv give the killer this kill after a probably awful game for him.
And the killer could also try to get the surv to wiggle free in an area where there is no locker and then get him. Or just hook him. It’s the killers job to kill the surv after all, no rules on how he has to kill
-
It would be so cool if the lobby waiting would be with these animations instead of them just standing next to each other.
I always liked seeing those animations but there is not much reason to watch them right now.
-
Apparently the game has to be balanced around high skilled survivors. Everyone who cannot loop any killer for 5 gens straight is considered a potato who should just git gud.
For killers it’s different, there the average (against high skilled survivors) should be the point to balance. And if those have a good game, they don’t even acknowledge it and say the survs were potatoes.
I really think matchmaking is a huge problem in this game, I get matched in both sides that can be so much fun winning or loosing does not matter here that much. And rank (even red rank) does not say that much here, again on both sides.
but there are frustrating matches as well on both sides. Again not really rank-dependent. Survivors have it worse but they also get out of those matches faster, tunneled/hook suiciding. There is no way for a killer to end the match sooner.
-
They released killers or survivors independent from their 3month-chapter-release cycle right? And those were always licensed, iirc: Bill, LF, GF, Ash.
So there is still hope for a licensed character in between or maybe for the anniversary

Never said theres not ######### ppl playing killer too. I once got facecamped by a Plague who spent 2 minutes puking on me on hook, then started REALLY phishing for a reaction in the endgame chat. I mostly just use these to spark a conversation (had one awhile back over "whens it appropriate to start slugging") although theres some that I share just so we all can get a quick laugh.I find it funny when someone gets salty because I didnt eat their DS or something.
sadly those discussions typically end in crying about either OP-survivors or making fun about potato-survivors. Especially if the title seems to be one-sided. It just adds fuel to the fire..
-
you guys really like to complain about survivors don’t you?
doesnt matter if it is the ones that are better than you (those are OP! Plz nerf ALL survs!) or they are not so good (Potatoes! Git gud!)
Do you ever realize that for the casual player it’s definitely not as easy to learn to loop well and it’s really not fun to get destroyed then, it is a worse experience than getting genrushed as Killer by a well coordinated 4SWF. I know this from both sides. And there are definitely killers out there that give worse end game chat than these examples.
-
Nope
Mainly because I am playing with a controller (on PC).
Most killers I can control fine, well I am not a red rank Killer, but I don’t need to be. Huntress (and Nurse) are way too hard this way and his power is similar to Huntress. Also can’t test him on PTB because the waiting time is way too long.. so maybe I will try when I have too much shards?
